You know, trial is challenging the god or his representative. And she had to stand against Alexander. And Alexander lost to Makoto, who is her knight.
Ohhh i didn't know that was trial but still that reason of the trial is has flaw on the story, if that's case, then why did Noel still struggling to complete the trial, why would she is the one doing it rather than her guardian Knight like makoto did, as you state that alex lost to makoto and makoto is her knight which would bring that Furiae a saint. Second if that's the qualification to be a saint defeating a god or challenging them. Then in the first place no one would become a saint because no one can beat a god or goddess. And last how did Noel become a saint if challenging/beating a god is qualification, in her case she can't oppose them and she doesn't powerful enough & no experience in fight, win against them a god. And let's just say the in Noel case it's different way of defeating a god but How does she do it? We only know she pass but no knows whats happen in her case.( Well kinda hard to explain in a chats so sorry for some mistakes in my explanation🤔)

Lol i completely overlooked the fact that Alexander is Althena-sama's brother xD. I can't say much about it other than, i guess it isn't his fault but the pope's since Alex is being obedient to the pope. At any rate, i think it is actually a critical event which led Makoto able to turns into a Spirit Water King. There's no way for Makoto to not have any significant changes in his body or stats after that event, and it should be something useful for him in the upcoming battle against the Great Demon Lord.
In the battle against Zagan before, were Great Sage-sama didn't come on time, i'm sure Makoto couldn't leave the battle without injury together even with Sakurai-kun. Heck, it would be a miracle if he were only knocked unconscious.

Could not be a affair and just that they broke up, that to begin with they didn't were together or various things, until now the story don't really follow much the mythology, so that type of things are possible. I mean, Alcmene had a spouse and had childs with his spouse (a girl and a boy) and even after she had Heracles she married other man. Is plenty possible that the mother had a child with other person.
I mean Jupiter is said to have 1,000+ wives... and the six holy goddesses are all said to be siblings with different mothers. With that big of an extended family, they would probably be indifferent with their other siblings unless they are childhood friends or similar in age or jobs.
Althena was annoyed by Alex. Ira does not seem like she cares all that much about Alex either. It seems like she cares more about Makoto than Alex here.
