Oof. But what did Makoto give up to do this. Also, what the hell is this hero? He's infinitely more OP than Sakurai. Like how the heck did he get so strong. Man, this lack of information is killing me.

Any of the Spirit Kings are overpowered as fuck. So lets say that Spirit Kings are the incarnation of the elements which are accompanied by the Great Spirits. That means that in order to fully kill them, you'll have to get rid of that specific element, which is impossible since that means destroying the very balance of the world. The next best thing you can do is to seal them (which is probably what the gods did).
Water surrounds everything in the surface and almost every living thing has it in them and also needs it to exist (also, theres a reason why its a common fact that going to outer space and another planet is easier than exploring the deep ocean). The planet is Earth itself, which means you'll have to destroy the planet. Air is EVERYWHERE and that if you remove it you'll also destroy the world's balance. Fire means you'll have to destroy everything that can be a source of it...that includes the core of the Planet, and that you'll probably also have to destroy the Sun or something like that.
I guess this is why Gods are afraid of the Spirit Kings. They might not be too dangerous for the higher gods, but you can't do shit to the world if the world's four incarnations are against you.

Alex kept referring to Ira as the destiny Oracle, so he's probably not aware she's the destiny goddess. How did he go from Esther (Ira) to Pope? To Ira's credit, she did explicitly tell him not to fight Titan Gods or their apostles. But she failed to keep a tight leash on this guy.
What I am curious about is if Makoto had to use up all his life for this self-destruction magic or if he's merely changed forms and is not dead. And what excuse the Holy Goddesses will give.
I think Makoto gave his body up as a vessel for the spirit king in exchange the spirit king MUST kill Alex or something like that.
Spirit Kings have no emotions, they only take orders from titan gods, they were afterall apostels of titan gods, and makoto has his soul still intact, only his body was lost, we will see in the future if he regains his body. :)
