I’m thinking that the other Evil God Apostle Cain would probably have a replica of Makoto’s weapon (first owner of the dagger) or at least have a weapon made of the same material and have Spirit Magic too. Otherwise, I can’t see how he would be too broken to hunt down the heroes back then. Imagine if they were partnered up and while Makoto is using Water Magic, Cain was using Fire Spirit Magic. That would be kind of sick.

      • If they actually become teammates then they might try to free Noah from the underwater sea temple, but the question is whether they will try it after of before the go on a demon king extermination rampage.
        But makoto has to make a tsunami and then freeze everything.
        That is something I have been waiting for to happen!!

I do think he’ll probably look like that based on his title. He’ll probably be able to defeat the Great Demon Lord in one swing if opportunity arises. Though I wonder, why didn’t he free Noah from her prison? Did Noah not say the location to him or was he unable to? Hmmmm

  • It's not destroying Noah's name because she's allied with the demons. Of course Cain will kill human heroes. It's by the end of the war that she'll be betrayed iirc.

    Someone call 911 and the FBI! Makoto’s getting attracted to an elementary schoolgirl! If Sofia and Furiae were there, I’m definitely sure they’ll look at him with cold and disgusted eyes.

    Next is the Generals. Makoto has fought 2 of them so he already knows their powers. I feel like it wouldn’t even be a fight.

    The execution of the heroes though. Why are they so weak? They only fought Setekh and probably some of his minions and they lost. Can’t Abel use his Light Hero skill properly because there’s no sun? And it said there that there were a whole ton of them. Probably a party of 4 if we’re speaking of regular RPG settings. If all of them are heroes, aren’t they too weak? Makoto will probably save them and meet Abel sooner or later.

    • well they probably weren't that weak before the demons interfered, remember, the demons sent someone/something back to change the entire course of history, if it weren't for them timejumping, there's no way abel's group would lose

      in other words, the demons prepared specifically against abel, and turned a level 10 early game encounter to like level 50 midgame encounter

    • I mean Setekh is really strong after being one of the few people to succeed in the ascension ritual to evolve and get stronger. Only other one we know who succeeded is Iblis themselves. Plus Setekh also has his petrification eyes so it shouldn't come as a surprise that he beat and captured some heroes.

    • You think they're so weak, but the problem is that the demons are much stronger. Don't forget that it has been stated repeatedly that monsters at around this time are much stronger. Each are around 3 to 4 times as strong as their later equivalent. Remember back during the attack on Symphonia? Where Makoto's group was up against 5000 monsters of that sort? Not even Geralt can push that back, he didn't lose, but that was barely a skirmish; Sakurai could likely do it, but that was without clouds getting in the way of empowering sunlight. This is literally the heart of Bifrons' power here, you can be sure there's more than 5000 of monsters with at least that quality, if not stronger. And really, if the power of all the heroes together were enough to finish their mission without a hitch, why would they even be oppressed in the first place? And certainly all the clouds won't help, the Light Hero skill is strong but its weaknesses are also dead obvious. Abel is also Lightning Hero, but again, they're facing much stronger enemies than the one we've seen earlier. And I think you're grossly underestimating Setekh's strength too. In the fight during Bifrons' resurrection, the Wind Tree Hero got petrified unceremoniously, and unlike Leonard he's experienced and properly armed. Momo herself said here that Bifrons has sixteen underlings at around that level, and that they're more than a match for heroes. That sort of reputation isn't built on hot air. And another : don't forget who might be around of Setekh is around, Cain. It apparently took a proper, Light Hero Abel to put him down.

      The big question is, IMO, with all this (lack of) sunlight, how is the Light Hero skill going to be relevant at all? It's probably a good thing they didn't send Sakurai here, since he's going to be rather powerless too. He'd still have his stats, but none of his ridiculous resistances and regeneration, and he'd be very limited in his mana supply.

    • The reason that the monsters that invaded Symphonia were strong was because they were 1000 years old. If I forgot to consider something, it might be that the dark clouds are affecting the strength of the heroes and the monsters. Additionally, when the monsters are extremely old, age might not matter as much as skill to use that power. Simply put, these monsters had experience and were at their prime while the ones on Symphonia were assuming they got born at the age of Abel, had not much experience fighting since they were newborn then. It could also be that the elites were undead since Bifrons is one. Meaning, you had to use the power of the sun or the light hero to defeat them.

      Lastly just as I said there, it was written that there were a whole ton of heroes, meaning many. I was assuming that they were a 4-man party since that’s the standard trope but it could be even more since it’s not really specified. It just said a whole ton and that could mean even more heroes. Moreover, it said there that Setekh was the one who captured them, it didn’t include others so I was assuming that the none of the other generals helped. So then, Setekh was going against many heroes which might have included Abel and they got defeated? Could they not have ganged him up in different directions to avoid the petrification?

      I’m thinking that it’s a mix of the two. The heroes were weaker than usual because the influence of the Holy Gods was weaker and that the monsters were stronger because of the Dark clouds and the influence of the Devils was much more stronger.

    • Nope nope nope nope. Read back again to Makoto's first encounter with the thousand year old Chimera. The point isn't that they're strong because they're a thousand years old or older, it's that they were born during the rule of the Great Demon Lord, which ended a thousand years ago (i.e around now), because the GDL's influence made the monsters stronger. Since the requirement is "being born during GDL's rule", in the present (i.e Sakurai as Light Hero) time only monsters a thousand years old or older are that strong, while all of them are that strong a thousand years in the past.

      And a whole ton is definitely an exaggeration. There likely isn't more than six heroes at any given time, since it's questionable if the Moon Goddess even has one, and only Althena is ever mentioned to have more than one, which also isn't the case here as Abel has both of the Althena associated hero skill. And it's a time where the demons rule, getting a lot of heroes together at all shouldn't be easy, four of six is definitely difficult, and more than that even less likely. And then : you forgot Shuri, she was definitely mentioned up there. So that makes two of them at the very least. And again, the mention of Setekh warrants the suspicion that Cain was also present since the two of them were hunting buddies. Setekh himself was mentioned because his eyes were apparently legendary, would it be legendary if it weren't poweeful? And again it took Light Hero Abel to (not really) end him. You'll note Setekh's petrification powers went over Rosalie's magic resistance, and they were both harder to kill than cockroaches : it took Makoto sacrificing her to kill Shuri, and Setekh survived all the way to the end. In a world ruled by demons, getting petrified at all likely means you'll get captured if not killed outright. About the only reason the people petrified during Bifrons' resurrection was safe at all was because the demons were invading, hence it's actually easier to save those people, home ground advantage is a thing.

      And per Fujiwara : the monsters were stronger, and so were the heroes. Really the big problem is they're not fighting a defensive war in their home grounds, they're fighting a protracted war in enemy territory, they need to be stronger to survive at all. There's no infrastructures to support them.

    • Right, my bad. So Shuri probably wasn't involved. But it still won't do to underestimate Setekh. Remember that he also has that howl which incapacitated Janet and Leonard instantly. Honestly, we never actually see much of what Setekh can do, and only really see Setekh struggling against Makoto (who, again, cheated), everything else was off screen, so it's hard to tell. But a good measure is this : he fought Rosalie, even petrified one hand, and still survived despite Rosalie thinking she's beaten him. Compared to that, Jinbara got offscreen'd, but we got a clear description of his charred corpse, and Rosalie did this literally one-handed, all the while having to spend effort keeping the petrification from spreading. Setekh isn't just some flunky mid-boss material. And if he brought Cain along..., it's more a question of how they can actually get prisoners instead of just corpses. Remember that Cain's sword is made from the same material Makoto's dagger is, a legitimate threat even to a literal Demigod, it's plain overkill against human heroes.

      As for why Shuri doesn't act with Setekh, the reasoning was also mentioned. He literally has zero control over his petrifying eyes, he can only act alone..., or with Cain, who is immune for one reason or another, I forgot. Just going by that alone, it means that Setekh's petrification is a legit threat even to his fellows among the sixteen. During the Spring Log arc we also never see Setekh and Shuri together.

    • Was Cain’s weapon confirmed to be from the same material as Makoto’s? I thought we were just theorizing about that. And I do agree on your assessment on Setekh though it does make me wonder. How did Cain team up with him? Makoto had a god armor made by Noah but Noah can’t do that all the time since it requires lifespan. Does his armor block petrification?

    • I read last chapter someone thinking that ira will overwrite his feats to become Abels. so even if makoto ends up destroying bifrons here, everyone in history would think that abel did it. this seems a likely reason for things to happen this way assuming that makoto was always supposed to have traveled into the past.

    • I was going to say that Setekh always act alone because of his eyes (the only exception is Cain). But it seems I don't have to since you already remember it. So it's either Setekh alone or with Cain who subjugate the heroes.

  Anyway, i wonder why most of people here quickly assuming that Momo is Great Sage-sama. I mean, i get it the only loli that appeared so far is Great Sage-sama but that doesn't mean that the only loli in this whole story would be her.

  Well, considering the fact that this is a 1000 years in the past and it's the place where it has something to do to Makoto, then i guess it makes sense that most of us assuming that Momo is Great Sage-sama. If that's the fact then now we know why Great Sage-sama is very fond of getting headpatted xD

  • Another thing that would make people that she is the Great Sage is because of the Blood Pact. That pact could have served as a link to make Makoto and Momo meet. Momo is the first person Makoto met in the Dark Era after all.
