MV – Chapter 25: Minor Villain and the rabbits

Previous Chapter l Next Chapter

Lanpeach slowly went up the stairs while confirming the 3D map of the Lanpeach Complex.

You could see leeway from that attitude of his and he even had a smile on his face.

The red dots in the map were disappearing one after the other, and the small window was showing holes here and there.

[Alpha has wiped out the enemies-usa.]

[Bravo cleaning up.]

[Ah, Charlie rendezvous right now-usa.]

[Delta is bored with no enemies-usa.]

What was displayed on the screen were the Artificial Spirits protecting the Lanpeach Complex, the Killer Rabbit Gunners.

They are less than 1 meter tall. It has pure white fluffy fur that doesn’t follow the real appearance of a rabbit, but that of a cute deformed plush.

Its red round eyes moved and its small nose twitched.

They wear camo helmets and clothes. Rabbits that simply wear military clothes but don’t look dangerous. But what they are holding is vicious.

A gun that’s mainly squared and over 2 meters long, with 2 muzzles side by side. It is a transforming gun that can switch between a machine gun and a shotgun, a KRG Model 100.

It would be impossible to load bullets on Earth. There’s the technical issue about what to do with the magazines, but that has been solved in this world. The magazines are Spirit Energy packs.

The energy that flows in the energy packs solidify and become bullets, so it is possible to switch between types of gun.

Moreover, it is a mass of mana, so it is far more powerful than your average bullet.

It can easily punch through armor that hasn’t been coated with mana. The bullet also swells up after being shot, and its power is on the level of the 20 mm gatling phalanx cannon from the Aegis warship.

Even a tank would be filled with holes if it were to land directly and change it into scraps.

A person who isn’t equipped with anything would turn into scraps of meat from just a graze, and it can easily punch through the walls of a building.

There’s also the KRG submachine gun, the KRG handgun, 3 types of grenades, flashbangs, and magic inhibiting smokes, and their camo clothes have Stealth and Spirit Barrier.

The physical capabilities of the Artificial Spirits is also high. They can carry several hundred kilograms, and they can easily run faster than a big bike. They specialize in 3d mobility inside buildings.

Their Gunmanship skill is also Level 3, Physical Combat, Presence Detection, and Support Magic. Their Monster Level is 3.

[Killer Rabbit Gunner.]

[Monster Level 3.]

[KRG Model 100 (Attack Power 7)]

[Varied equipment like a submachine gun.]

They are far stronger than the current Lanpeach, and he can create 10 to protect the base. These rabbits were enough for defense in the game.

When you need more combat power than this in a defense, you would need to rely on other people, but if you manage to endure until mid-game, the player alone can manage to defend by themselves. And so, the Killer Rabbit Gunners were enough.

As for why they have this much capability… The developers probably didn’t want to put much thinking into the base defense system. It was honestly pretty off-hands and defending was extremely simple.

“Well, I am grateful to the developers on this front. I have basically secured safety inside this base.” (Lanpeach)

Lanpeach perceived this world as a game world and, with cold eyes, he sees the lives of people as numbers. He confirmed the results and nodded in satisfaction.

Its effectiveness is being represented plenty well even in this world that resembles the game world.

Tsuyoshi attacked with more than 100 people, but the dots that denoted enemies were disappearing one after the other, and their rabbits have not suffered damage.

[Our army is overwhelming, Soldier. Mufufu.] (Libra)

If not for the support character that is spitting a really bad line, it would have been perfect.

He looked at Libra, who was floating in midair with a smug face, with dead eyes.

“Well, go ahead and plant as many losing flags and death flags as you want. I have no fear anymore. Lanpeach is already a death flag himself after all.” (Lanpeach)

[You are strong, Soldier. I think you are cool when you are acting all deviant. So, are you going to be on standby here until wiping them out?] (Libra)

She chuckled and hugged him as if trying to push her boobs on him.

He thought this support character was soft as he endured a grin and looked at the map to give him that last push, a grin showing in his face.

“I would like to confirm my combat power as well. Let’s use this opportunity to test it out.” (Lanpeach)

[Yes sir, Soldier!] (Libra)

Libra saluted to joke around and cackled.

And then, the two listened to the way too loud sounds of destruction for gunshots, moved quietly through the corridor while staying hidden.

The residents were peeking at this as if they were watching a fearsome Demon Lord.

◇◇

The subordinates of Tsuyoshi were inside hell.

They tried to oppose them with their wooden guns at first, but the pitiful resistance stopped soon, and there’s now only screams echoing here and there.

Blood and pieces of flesh scattered around, and the roars of bullets that sounded like demons were destroying the walls and floor.

There’s already not a shred of coordination here, and they are running away with bullets of sweat and tears falling like waterfalls.

A number of people were running through the corridors of the Lanpeach Complex that looked like ruins.

“W-What’s with this?! It wasn’t just Lanpeach!”

“Those are Artificial Spirits. Moreover, military use! Why is something like that in the slums?!”

“I don’t know! More importantly, let’s get out of here. We will die if we stay in a place like this!”

They were reeled in by how big the reward was and participated in this. That said, they were simply promised a few thousand Eles. That was still a large amount in the slums.

But that small sum was about to become a condolence gift.

They thought there would be no resistance at first. They would go up the stairs, kill all the men, enjoy the women, and steal the remaining goods.

They were laughing as they advanced.

The state changed when they arrived at the 3rd floor. The stairs to the 2nd floor were destroyed with an explosion, and rabbits attacked them the moment their escape route was gone.

That was no battle but a massacre.

With just a single pull of the trigger from a rabbit, the people at the front raised mists of blood and turned into scraps of flesh.

The moment they pointed their wooden guns, it kicked the ground, walls, and ceiling to move back with 3d movements, and shot with its comically big gun.

There’s no way the hoodlums from the slums could oppose those unbelievable movements and speed. The remaining ones easily turned into scraps of meat, and the people who were a bit cowardly at the back ran through the corridor, desperately trying to escape.

They miraculously escaped from the demonic hands of the vicious rabbits, and succeeded in going all around to the front entryway.

The front entryway entered their eyes and the light of hope showed in them.

And then, they saw Tsuyoshi and his lackeys standing carefreely at the entryway, and anger welled up.

They invited them to such a hellish place. This is different from what they were told. They shouted, saying they would kill them.

“You, Tsuyo—”

That’s all they could say.

The side wall of the corridor exploded.

Concrete fragments flew about. Their bodies were crushed to pieces with the strong impact and scattered.

—That situation entered the eyes of Tsuyoshi and his group.

Something fearsome and unexpected is happening. They were talking about how they hoped someone should come and report what’s going on.

“A-Aah… W-What’s this?”

The concrete wall that was supposed to be thick had been destroyed, and the subordinates that were at the side of it were twisted and turned to pieces as if they had been caught inside a mixer.

Tsuyoshi and the others saw that shocking sight and were left speechless, standing in place in disbelief.

Something came out from the destroyed wall.

Its long ears popped out, then a cute white hand grabbed the wall, and a small and cute rabbit hopped out.

“Chased too much-usa. This place might be in a different sector from the one I am in charge of-usa.”

Their small and round cute appearance clashed so much with the scattering corpses, creating a terribly creepy sight.

“W-What are y-you? W-What are you doing to my s-subordinates…? Y-You bastard!” (Tsuyoshi)

Tsuyoshi glared at the rabbits and threatened them like usual.

That was extremely comical for a threat in the battlefield, and was extremely pitiful. It was extremely out of place.

It is clearly not normal.

Even though it is an extremely dangerous situation, the combination of corpses and rabbits created an unbalance, making it hard to perceive as reality, so Tsuyoshi acted tough here.

“H-Hiih! R-Run away!”

“This is not normal.”

“Let’s scamper!”

A number of lackeys understood the situation and they began to run towards the entrance with fear in their faces and—

“Ah, you can’t run away-usa yo.”

The rabbit muttered this carefreely, pointed the giant silver gun at them, and pulled the trigger.

Thunderous roars rang, and a wild gale rose in the lobby of the entryway.

The subordinates were minced like wood chips before the shot bullets.

The door that barely remained in the lobby was pulverized, and big holes were opened on the neighboring building.

“Wa…wa… Am I drunk? T-This is not reality. Right, I am drunk. This is a dream.” (Tsuyoshi)

Tsuyoshi pulled the trigger of his wooden gun with trembling hands.

A dry sound was made and, just before it landed on the rabbit, the acorn bullet was hit by something midair and exploded.

“This is a dream. A dream. I am surely still the subordinate of Lanpeach, arguing stupidly in the complex, and laughing at how we don’t have cash. That’s right. There’s no doubt about it.” (Tsuyoshi)

He continued pulling the trigger and the bullets were stopped right in front of the rabbit, and bursted.

“There’s no way Lanpeach would have such weird power in the first place. I know he is just a crook. It takes his all to just lead this team. There’s no way he would have something like you as a subordinate.” (Tsuyoshi)

He repeated to himself that this is a dream while pulling the trigger.

His eyes were dyed in fear, and his voice was dry. He himself doesn’t think this is a dream, but still told himself it is.

He ran out of bullets already and only the empty sounds of pulling the trigger rang.

“Hmm, too bad, but this is not a dream-usa yo. Dying humans mostly say they would have preferred this being a dream-usa ne.”

The rabbit slowly pointed the muzzle at Tsuyoshi.

Those red eyes were extremely creepy. He felt shivers and…

“U-Uwaaah!”

Tsuyoshi threw away his wooden gun, tightened his fists, and rushed towards the rabbit.

He took a step in that fashion…and his body broke as if it had exploded.

(What, Lanpeach… If you had such power, you could have let me have a bite of it…) (Tsuyoshi)

The last thing he thought of didn’t escape his mouth…and his life ended.
