Tsuki – Chapter 413: Unsuitable place

“Airing it for a while should be the best choice.” (Makoto)

“…Air, you say?”

“! Aah, no, I say air, but it is not the torture kind.” (Makoto)

“?”

“Leave it be for a while and watch how it goes, in other words, time is needed. There isn’t much to fear now, but it would be better to have a place to stay still. Now then, how many prisons were in Asora…?” (Makoto)

“There’s a number for hyuman use. There aren’t that many that match the races. We probably would have prepared cells depending on what’s needed at the moment.”

“…Aah, I see.” (Makoto)

The work of the Kuzunoha Company in Tsige was wrapping up.

Leaving aside the revolutionary things Rembrandt-san says, that is.

The matters that involve both Asora and the other side like the Moon Grizzly matter are also going well for now.

I remember the conversation from before.

The time when I consulted with Serwhale about Levi.

Airing for me is a negative word that means ignoring the other party.

It is like a type of bullying…but it is like the ones done in the adult world. Whichever the case, it doesn’t have a good image.

But for Serwhale, airing is apparently a jargon that refers to a pretty ghostly torture.

It is a moment I felt the differences in races.

In the case of my airing, the Neptunes would just be watching from a distance their eyes can reach, and it is close to house arrest.

“It is about time, I think.” (Makoto)

The Scylla Levi, who experienced an overwhelming defeat, had fallen into quite the unstable state of mind after.

I don’t know if that’s the natural form of her race, but she would target the hyuman adventurers and would torment them.

If it is just about weak people, there’s children in Asora as well who are greatly lacking in battle prowess, but for some mysterious reason, there weren’t that many injured from that side.

Maybe being hyuman plays a stronger factor than their strength?

…The person she lost against was a hyuman woman after all.

As a result, Levi had killed two hyumans in adventurer parties that were connected with me, so I put her under the care of Serwhale, and ‘aired’ her.

Leaving aside matters like sin and punishment, I left the confinement of a scylla using a prison that’s suitable for that race to the Neptune.

You could say that, at that time, I didn’t know what to do with Levi.

She would apologize when she thought she had killed them, and shortly after, she would attack more people again.

By ‘It is about time’ we are talking about how it should be about time Levi has calmed down.

“About the punishment…”

In Asora, there’s no sin in killing hyumans.

There’s simple laws when it comes to the Asora residents though…

However, there’s a decent amount of people who want Levi to be punished because she went against my orders, in the sense that she didn’t listen to what I said.

There were also Gorgons and Eldwas, who have taken a liking to the adventurers, that complained as well.

And so, in regards to punishing Levi for being disrespectful (?) towards me…I personally find it incredibly hard to think of something, and it is also something that’s hard for me to accept.

Even if this is a matter of Asora…

Because she didn’t obey?

Me?

That’s a sin?

Why?

My mind naturally ran through those thoughts.

I honestly don’t think I am made to be a king.

Even when I am being revered by this many, I couldn’t help but still think in this way.

After looking at myself objectively…I am lacking a lot in that area.

Even a lacking person like me can tell that this current situation is pretty important.

If I consider things okay, then the thought process of others will change just like that.

I think from the bottom of my heart that going against my orders being considered a crime is way too unreasonable.

There’s no doubt I myself would regret this the most.

“Waka-sama! I have been waiting for you!”

After contacting Serwhale and the others, and moving to the city that’s being built in the bottom of the ocean of Asora, quite the welcome was prepared despite this being a sudden visit.

Almost all the chief members that are normally actively moving around Asora were gathered. What’s even going on?

I simply came here to check the state of Levi.

Ah, but this might actually be the first time I properly visit this city?

Wonder about that.

There were a number of times where I would meet specific people here when I had business, and I have seen the blueprints of this city several times already, so I don’t feel foreign in this city or how to say it, I feel strangely familiar with it.

“Levi most likely doesn’t think Waka-sama himself would be visiting her. I am sure she will be surprised.” (Serwhale)

“I would be happy if that’s the case. There’s a lot of things I would like to ask her if she can have a proper conversation after all.” (Makoto)

This city that is mostly lived in by Neptunes is literally an underwater city.

It has stretched decently into the sea, so you could say it is a sea city as well.

The ones who live in the ocean would mostly think of this place as their metropolis, and there’s no issues with contacting the people on land.

The mist gates of Tomoe have also been set here, so it is possible to directly go to the port city and the first city.

There’s the important problem that one side is filled with water and the other with air, so you would need to prepare magic to a certain extent before moving though, but it is pretty convenient.

The only thing I would say I am sad about would be that there’s nothing like a palace of the dragon king or something similar that’s like a classic of an underwater metropolis.

After being welcomed by everyone at the entrance of the city, I was guided to the center of the city by the higher-ups of the Neptunes.

The center of the city is where the administration of the city is at and where Serwhale-san and the others work and live at. The city spreads out radially from there.

Levi is apparently at the extended underground prison made for seafolk at that center.

I listened to the recent state of the city and a variety of other reports as…hm?

“What’s the matter?” (Serwhale)

“Peo…ny…Palace?” (Makoto)

Peony Palace.

That’s what was written.

Hmm?

Did it always have that name?

If I remember correctly, it had a simple name like government administration office…

“Aah! This place is a symbol of the city, so we were pondering about a good name for it, and then I remembered a flower of the land. It was…beautiful. And when I asked Tomoe-sama about what she thought of when thinking about beautiful flowers, she told me that it was obviously the peony, the moutan, and the lily. And so, we gave that tower, this place, and the newly made prison those names.” (Serwhale)

Peony, moutan, and blooming lily?

Is it that?! A peony if standing, a moutan if sitting, and a blooming lily when walking?! <TLN: Describes a beautiful woman, but originally a metaphor for herbal medicine.>

Serwhale-san, if you took a liking to flowers, you could have brought out names of flowers you yourself liked.

No, it is not like those 3 are bad or anything, but it just feels off.

Moreover, you even put a name to the prison. That means it was pretty recent…

“The Peony Palace, the Moutan Tower, and the Blooming Lily Prison?” (Makoto)

Yeah, no, it does feel really off.

Especially the Blooming Lily Prison…a really immoral picture surfaced in my mind for a second, and I can only think ‘just what kind of prison is that?’.

But well, at least the Moutan Tower is better than the Peony Tower, I guess?

I feel like the tower would snap if it were a peony.

For the moutan, it would be thrilling…but both are the type that wither gallantly…

Let’s try to change the name later.

If they like it so much they don’t want to change it, there’s nothing I can do though.

“Yes, everyone was happy saying they were splendid names.” (Serwhale)

He is all smiles.

Doesn’t look like it will be possible.

“Eh?”

It was a while after we entered the Peony Palace and had reached a hall-looking place…that the water changed into air.

Also, it is bright.

It may have turned into an atrium, but this is pretty deep down the ocean.

At the very least, it shouldn’t be bright.

It may be artificial, but there’s quite a bit of light filling up the hall.

A shock that feels as if I came out from a calm and gentle blue light into a sudden sunshine.

“Since we are living under the wing of Waka-sama, we have prepared a number of places that can help others learn the ability to breathe air.” (Serwhale)

“So you say, but the truth is that you have simply awoken to horticulture.”

The moment Serwhale-san gave me a really plausible reason, a mermaid lady that suddely showed up at the side exposed the true reason.

Horticulture, flowers…

I see, so the identity of this scent is flowers, huh.

“Horticulture.” (Makoto)

“Ah! Mei, you, appearing all of a sudden! You are in the presence of Waka-sama, you know?!” (Tuna)

Tuna-san must have noticed the arrival of the mermaid when I muttered horticulture, he shouted her name with a rough voice.

So she is called Mei-san.

This is the first time I have met her…I think.

“Ah, uhm…Waka-sama, this is…” (Serwhale)

“No, isn’t horticulture okay? I have done it myself as well.” (Makoto)

“!!”

“It was just flowers, vegetables, or herbs though.” (Makoto)

“Waka-sama did?” (Serwhale)

“Yeah. That’s why there should be a decent amount of horticulture entries in the memory records. You can ask Ema to show them to you. A field of flowers despite being underwater. That sounds like a dreamy city that could be made possible.” (Makoto)

“Thank you very much!” (Serwhale)

Serwhale-san thanked me happily.

There isn’t really any need to thank me.

Or more like, his glad countenance isn’t ceasing.

Rather than saying it is his happiness from his yearning of the above, it is more like he is happy that he can do horticulture and that it can be continued on for generations…

What, do many of the Neptunes love flowers?

“Yeah…uhm…let’s go to where Levi is.” (Makoto)

“Yes, I will guide you!” (Mei)

The mermaid called Mei was about to pull my hand, but Serwhale-san’s strong arm stopped her.

“Mei, your unexpected revelation and the result of it have offset each other. But I don’t remember passing you the job of guiding Waka-sama.” (Serwhale)

“Boooh! Stingy Serwhale-sama! It should be okay to share Waka-sama a bit, right?!!” (Mei)

Share, she says.

A chance to take it easy in the underwater city, to check things around.

I might need to do that sometime soon.

The races here, the people here, and their lifestyle.

I practically know nothing.

The reason why I didn’t feel anyone had any complaints towards me even when I strolled the city a bit must be because everyone is so competent.

Yeah, when the matter with Levi is over, let’s make some time to check the sea.

    1. I’m going to take a break on tsuki until the anime premiere or the next chapter of the manga.
I just need some extra stimulus for me to get the will of ready the novel.
It is very sad but I will no loose hope it will be great again.

    1. Damn I caught up after stacking for 3 years. Where are firo and truck. Only recognise your name here

    1. Ermmmm. Be may it looks like a weird thing that someone like Johnny Bravo male had interest in horticulture, well romanticist exist after all with flowers all over their brain. But again, in the otome game series which reeks flowers and perfume in every manga panel, you will likely develop an interest in horticulture as well.

Also, if.you are a family man, the likelihood is high cause you want your children to experience to see beautiful things like flower fields and its common on Instagram.

Also, flower field develop by Serwhale is specially compliments the beauty of Mio in yukata when meeting with Makoto asna lover. Sweet isnt it? But again, Mio will most likely had a mountain of food on her to offer to Makoto to picnic in middle of flower field. Mio will mostly likely find out that some flowers can be make a dishnand a tea.

Its good that horticulture will develop on asora

    1. Probably because”killing an acquaintance” because of loosing control over kinda trivial reason is overdoing things. Girl messed up and she wouldn’t be able to fix it. Normally none would, if Tomoe didn’t get DV powers. Shiki’s ‘Rise’ spell won’t bring souls to Asora I believe.
      ——
Well, punishment for accidental murder is logical, but wonder how Makoto will do it.
“Forced Labor” won’t exactly cut it, they all work gladly. Only if “Join victims and serve them for ‘n’ time as party member”
Isolation? Two ways, locked in and out of Asora. Former is a joke, later is a scary one. For them it is akin to “Banishment from Paradise”
Probably Levy is already reflecting, with how she can perceive this ‘airing’ as ‘casting out of Makoto’s friend circle’

  1. My guess is that Makoto is sort of treated like a living god in Asora, so his words are law. Levi broke that unofficial or de facto law, so other Asora residents are angered by it and see it as a sign of disrespect to their god or ruler.

  2. Thanks for the chapter!

Yep, despite the number of words, i feel like the author is stalling. Several chapters so far, since the end of the war.

    1. Well, yeah, it seems like even the raw is really really late so… Let’s take it easy with the translation

  3. Leaving aside the revolutionary things Rembrandt-san says, that is.

Eh what did he say? I only remember the wifes in the past few chapters

    1. He’s referring to all the things Rembrandt has said so far like making Tsige independent or assimilating other cities to become a city-state. Or wanting to spread idol culture.

    1. Also in the near future (prediction) the Buggdess will launch an attack on Asora an marking the all out war between Bugdess realm and Asora realm. (Prediction)

  4. my girl Levi did nothing wrong …… Ranai died of her own fault a pathetic death like Kazuma. Hazal practically committed suicide.
If Levi receives a punishment it would be for disobeying orders but not for murder, but since she evolved into leviathan I hope she joins the high ranks.

    1. “She would apologize when she thought she had killed them, and shortly after, she would attack more people again.”

I think the repeating offenses is what is worrying them.

      1. Yeah, that is definitely worrisome… She seems a bit deranged and untrustworthy. And, honestly, she deserves punishment for her reckless behavior. I hope she learned something

      2. Yes, but it is just an unfounded assumption, they are confused by the fact that as she evolved into a Leviathan, Levi’s personality changed as well.

      1. In fact it’s what they did ,but now she is
a different character….More like a heroine instead of the Yankee she used to be.

  5. Thanks for the chapter!
I really hope the author hasn’t gotten sick of fantasy and isn’t trying to swerve this story towards a business novel, and is just padding time so he can figure out the next big arc.
    Thanks again!

    1. I was happy to read:
“The work of the Kuzunoha Company in Tsige was wrapping up.”

There are so many other parts of this story that were held up while the Tsige business arc was going on. For me, this has been the least interesting set of chapters.

  6. I read from the last chapter of the war, until this one and I feel that I did not miss anything, is that good? Anyway, I will continue from here

  7. Well as long as the Neptunes don’t turn the city into Rapture. As if Asora needs any more juggernauts like Big Daddies.

Now I actually forgot but have they ever said WHY Levi has been going on these rampages? Like I know that she’s attacked people because she got beat by them and wanted to retaliate and get revenge but is there any more reason than that? Wasn’t she one of the ones that got hit with Tomoki’s brainwashing perfume or was that someone else?

    1. That was one of the dark elf/ogre girls. Levia suffered a crushing defeat at Haruka’s hands which made her depressed.

Levi’s original race were very prone to acting out on their emotions and thirst for battle. They are like children in wanting to keep fighting, but Levi is one of the more rational ones that decided to follow Makoto and forget their old grudges against Hyumans.

    2. Levi was still butthurt about losing to Haruka and Scyllas bear very powerful grudge towards hyumans from some reason.
(Probably Bug or hyumans did something vile to entire species, which became genetic memory at this point.)

  8. Makoto still unaware that he is treated as either a god or a king LOL and his every words are like scriptures and law to them 😂
Finally a sneak peek at the underwater city~
    Thanks for the chapter~

  9. Petty sad what happen to Levi.

It most have been a tough one sided fight wich gave her PTSD.

But well i guess she should have been conscious that there are people stronger than her wich she could not defeat being the mega fighting maniac she is.

But well even the hardest metals can bend.

    1. Her battle maniac attitude wasn’t considered normal, even among her own race. Makes me think there are some deeper issues than just that loss back in Lorel. A single disappointment that leads to multiple hyuman murders, would make Levi sound vain and racist. If there’s not more to her background, I will be very disappointed.

    2. Why is it a bad thing? Her loss to ‘weakling hyumans’ (as her race would generally call them) lead her to the path of evolution to a higher existence and power. Also maturity!

Sometimes one must fall, no matter how hard, stand back up and better ones self to arrive at ones destination.

PTSD is terrible if left untreated and some individuals have far worse reactions (other mental issues finally leading to suicide or killing sprees) than others (some turn to drinking or drugs). But sometimes, recovering from such trauma can lead one to better paths in life than they might have otherwise followed.

Levi would be a success if things go as im thinking they will after this chapter.

  10. who else remembers when there were two other heroes, a war between demon lord and hyumans and other good plotlines… good times

    1. Honestly the last 50+ chapters have been a slog. If it wasn’t for the skill of the translator I don’t know if I could stay on.

    2. The heroes aren’t even important at this point. The author i’m sure realized people don’t even like them as characters. The less of them i read, the better overall it is.

      1. They serve as a way to advance the war part of the story so they aren’t needed if the author says he wants a different kind of arc

  11. So no explanation about Makoto’s mode of transportation in the water? I mean he must’ve travelled in the ocean before arriving on the sea floor. Is he using an armor around him to supply air or what? Or used mist gates to instant tp?

      1. True, but that doesn’t explain anything besides that they use magic to keep it separated from water directly.

Much more I’d like to know if this mist gate is inside just a “bubble barrier” or if the entire underwater city has air filled rooms or if just some areas like this so called atrium has air.

The Author has one image in his head and might forget that we can see it differently or *praying* that she will make a chapter with a detailed discribtion about the underwater metropolis as mentioned at the end)))

  12. One thing that I cant stand with mc is his thoughts about being the ruler of Asora, can he just stop ducking his responsibilities?!?! Makoto is the ruler of Asora why cant he just accept it, and don’t you dare give me the excuse of him just being a normal Japanese man, like what kind of excuse is that? Everyone in Asora sees him as the king, he basically rules them, and Tomoe and him crated Asora so why does he keep saying that he is not the ruler of Asora when he clearly is.

If he really does not want to be the ruler so bad then stop acting like one and stop involving yourself as the ruler, its so stupid when he acts like a ruler uses the entirety of Asora for his benefit with the company and all, yet when it comes to his responsibilities like, law and how people should treat him he just pulls the “oh, well no I don’t see myself as the ruler, everyone just worships me idk, tehe”

Makoto has clearly grown up a lot from his previous self, with how he deals with enemies, him being a merchant but his view on Asora is just as stupid as it was in the beginning. Lets be honest he has no desire for power, absolutely no desire to rule or even leave a mark, he just wants to be a “normal” person that protects the people close to him, BORING! I know this is a very common troupe in Japanese manga and anime but it seriously is stupid, all these mc’s just wanting to be “normal” just feels so unreal, sure you don’t have to rule people by and iron fist or want to take over the world but this whole thing of you not even wanting a speck of power is stupid and unrealistic, I just wish Makoto would take some responsibilities and rule Asora as a good king, become a great merchant that has high influence and there would be no need for anything more, he does not need to rule the world or be an emperor of country’s, but him not wanting any power is just… stupid and unrealistic.

    1. Although I can say some things in Makoto’s defense, you were spot on in the fact that he is avoiding some of his responsibilities.

  13. It’s sad to read about Levi’s state of mind. Also the mc just has to accept that he is the king of that world. lol

    1. It’s one thing to accept being a king and it’s another to know that he isn’t good for it so he avoids the topic, he is the latter.
