WM – Chapter 254: Takatsuki Makoto bewilders the Demon Lord

-Cainhart Weeloch.

The real name of Cain that Noah-sama told me about.

Cainhart was born in one of the hundreds of islands that float close to the South Continent.

It is a poor land where humans and beastkin who were chased off their homelands by demons live in.

Many people were fighting each other for the few resources there were in the land.

Cainhart was an infant in a small village of a certain island there.

One day, the tribe of Cainhart fought against a tribe of a different island and lost.

All islands are poor, so scenarios like that were not rare.

Most people of a settlement that has lost are killed, but Cainhart was unfortunately powerless and unbelievably beautiful.

He was a man, but the head of the outside tribe from a different island had taken a liking to the young Cainhart, and kept him alive as a ‘whore husband’.

He tasted hell, being used as a plaything by the people that killed his own family.

The island that Cainhart lived in had an aboriginal religion, but he cursed the God that was not saving him.

If he could take revenge against the people that took away his family, he was willing to sell his soul to the devils.

He prayed for that every night.

The one who spoke to him at that time was…an Old God -the Goddess that’s imprisoned in the Deep Sea Temple, Noah-sama.

(A Goddess that specializes in loners…) (Makoto)

That MO is similar to my time.

Anyways, Cainhart met Noah-sama in a dream, and pledged to become her believer.

The moment he woke up from his dream, the sacred treasures were apparently near his bed.

And in this way, the mad warrior that has the armor that blocks all attacks, and the sword that cuts everything had been born.

Cainhart achieved his revenge by using those sacred treasures.

He exterminated the people that killed his tribe.

He was grateful to the Goddess.

He pledged that he would do anything for the sake of the Goddess.

But the words of the Goddess were ‘do as you please’.

And so, Cainhart decided to increase the number of the Goddess’s believers.

He left his homeland and wandered the South Continent.

The continent was the land of demons under the control of Demon Lords, but for Cainhart that was equipped with sacred treasures, they were no match for him.

He saved humans that were oppressed, but for some reason, they didn’t change their faith to the Goddess Noah-sama.

The comrades of Cainhart didn’t increase.

The one who showed up there was the Demon Lord ruling the South Continent.

The Demon Lord had interest in Cainhart.

And then, Cainhart learned that he was a believer of a God that’s different from the Holy Gods.

The Demon Lord recruited Cainhart.

The Goddess that you believe in is an Old God that lost in the Divine Realm War.

The Demon Lord explained that they have a common enemy.

The Demon Lord proposed to rule the world together.

Cainhart accepted that invitation.

His respected Goddess also agreed to that.

—And that’s how Demon Lord Cain was born.

It is an event that happened a few years back in this era.

◇◇

“Why…do you know my name?” (Cain)

The Demon Lord is flustered.

What I should say here is…

“Because Noah-sama told me.” (Makoto)

I gave a short answer.

The Demon Lord reacted to this.

“Are you trying to deceive me here…? I am the only one who can hear the voice of Noah-sama as her Apostle. There’s no way you can hear her voice.” (Cain)

The voice of Cain was steadfast.

It is obvious, but it looks like he can’t believe my words.

“Then, how about I tell you this?” (Makoto)

I spoke about the past of Demon Lord Cain with a smile still in my face.

The story of an unfortunate boy from a small island.

The story of the unfortunate boy eventually becoming a Demon Lord.

It was super effective.

He was shaken to the point that it felt like he would drop his greatsword from the confusion.

Cainhart has not told anyone about his past.

Aside from Noah-sama.

“Why…do you know about my past…? Could it be that it is true? T-There’s no way…” (Cain)

“I told you I heard this from Noah-sama. I wanted to talk to you without anyone around, Cainhart.” (Makoto)

Noah-sama apparently called Demon Lord Cain with his real name.

That’s why Noah-sama advised me to call him the same way if I were to talk to him.

I couldn’t do that at Laberintos because Hero Abel was there.

“Are you saying…you are an ally? Do you have proof?!” (Cain)

“Hmmm…” (Makoto)

So it is proof now, huh.

That’s hard.

I unsheathe my dagger and show the blade to him.

“This dagger was given to me by Noah-sama. It is made from the same material as your sacred treasure. Well, I don’t think this will be enough proof for you.” (Makoto)

“I do feel that there’s the same elements as my sword. But…” (Cain)

“Our King, is there really a need to borrow the strength of a man like this? We should be plenty enough, you know?” (Dia)

Dia was playing around with her hair by my side as if bored.

But well, my lifespan has been reduced from the fight just now, so I don’t want to lengthen the battle more than this.

I have told Dia to take a leisure attitude as much as possible.

“What’s…your objective? Why are you an ally of the Heroes?” (Cain)

“Because that’s the desire of Noah-sama.” (Makoto)

“The desire…of Noah-sama? Helping the Heroes…? There’s no way that’s… Every time I killed a Hero, she would praise me!” (Cain)

Oh, so the Noah-sama of this era accepts killing Heroes, huh.

“No matter how many Heroes you kill, it won’t help Noah-sama. It would instead make her be treated as an Evil God, and it would put Noah-sama in a lot of hardship for a thousand years.” (Makoto)

“What…did you say…?” (Cain)

Cain shakes his head as if he couldn’t believe it.

“It is true. Your actions will become unbeneficial for Noah-sama.” (Makoto)

“I won’t be deceived! Don’t speak another word! I am gonna cut you in half!” (Cain)

Demon Lord Cain shouted.

He is losing his cool.

The Great Water Spirit takes stance in order to block the attacks of Cain.

I stop her with my hand.

Cain wishes to gain more believers for Noah-sama.

But because of the Divine Realm Regulations, Noah-sama can’t increase her believers.

Even with that, he tries to increase the believers, unable to get comrades, and feels the loneliness of it; that’s Demon Lord Cain.

Even when becoming a Demon Lord, he has no comrades.

Even if he is feared, he isn’t loved.

The only believer of Noah-sama in the world…until now.

That’s why, what I should say here is…

“Noah-sama would be saddened if the only two believers she has in the world fight, right?” (Makoto)

“?!!”

Demon Lord Cain languidly lowered the sword he brandished.

“Are you…saying you are a believer of Noah-sama?” (Cain)

“That’s right. Just like you.” (Makoto)

“I see… This is my first time meeting a believer of Noah-sama.” (Cain)

Demon Lord Cain muttered and took off his helmet.

From below that appeared a beautiful man that could be mistaken for a woman.

But well, the person himself seems to hate his own beautiful face, so it would be better not to praise it.

“What’s your name?” (Cain)

“…Takatsuki Makoto.” (Makoto)

I hesitated for a bit, but I answered with my own name.

Cain will be talking about me to Noah-sama later, so it would be better to tell him my real name.

Well, Noah-sama can’t see 1,000 years in the future, so I don’t know how much she will understand…

“Takatsuki Makoto, if killing Heroes won’t help Noah-sama, what should I be doing?” (Cain)

He looked at me with serious eyes, and I consider my words.

“How about going to the Deep Sea Temple to save Noah-sama?” (Makoto)

Demon Lord Cain narrowed his eyes at those words.

“The Deep Sea Temple that Noah-sama is sealed at, huh. But if I don’t know where it is, I can’t even head there…” (Cain)

His response was unexpected.

Cain doesn’t know about the Deep Sea Temple?

“I know the location of the Deep Sea Temple though?” (Makoto)

“What?!” (Cain)

If it is 1,000 years in the future, it shows up in most adventurer maps.

It is one of the Last Dungeons that no one aims for despite being in the map though.

“You didn’t ask Noah-sama about it?” (Makoto)

“She wouldn’t tell me… Noah-sama said I wouldn’t be able to reach the Deep Sea Temple alone.” (Cain)

Now that he mentions it, I think she was also negative about me clearing the Deep Sea Temple.

“The Great Demon Lord promised to help me conquer the Deep Sea Temple if we kill all the Heroes. But because new Heroes appear no matter how many Heroes I kill, there’s no end… Who knows when it will be…” (Cain)

“You made a promise like that?” (Makoto)

When a Hero dies, the Goddesses designate the next Hero, so it will most likely be endless.

I think you are being deceived here.

Even so, I can use this information.

Demon Lord Cain doesn’t know the location of the Deep Sea Temple.

“Takatsuki Makoto! Tell me the location of the Deep Sea Temple. If you do that, I don’t mind trusting you.” (Cain)

Demon Lord Cain tells me with a serious expression.

“Then, let’s go together.” (Makoto)

“Huh?” (Cain)

It must have been an unexpected response, the eyes of Cain opened wide.

“Together…you say?” (Cain)

“Yeah, as believers of Noah-sama, our objective is the same, right?” (Makoto)

“No…but…” (Cain)

“Your sacred treasures and my Spirit Magic; can’t we clear the Deep Sea Temple with us two together?” (Makoto)

“…”

I could hear Demon Lord Cain gulping.

“As for the day, I have to make preparations, so around 7 days? Let’s make the rendezvous point here.” (Makoto)

“A-After 7 days?! That soon?!” (Cain)

“The faster the better, right?” (Makoto)

“T-That’s…” (Cain)

“You can use Water Breathing, right? We will have to be underwater for around half a day. Don’t tell me you can’t swim with your armor on.” (Makoto)

“I-I can swim…” (Cain)

That way of saying it isn’t giving me any confidence.

“The one protecting the Deep Sea Temple is the Divine Beast, Leviathan. It is apparently stronger than the Great Demon Lord, so let’s begin by analyzing it. Any questions?” (Makoto)

“…Are you serious?” (Cain)

Demon Lord Cain glares at me dubiously.

“I was planning on going there alone if need be anyways. You don’t want to save Noah-sama?” (Makoto)

“Alone, you say…?” (Cain)

“Yeah, what will you do?” (Makoto)

“…”

After a while of silence, Demon Lord Cain answered.

“…Got it, let’s go together.” (Cain)

“It’s settled then.” (Makoto)

I smile and offer him my hand.

Demon Lord Cain was looking at me questioningly.

(…Are you serious?)

A voice resonated in my head.

Ira-sama?

You were listening?

(Are you going to make allies with a Demon Lord despite having Hero Abel as your comrade?) (Ira)

Isn’t this better than having him as an enemy the whole time?

We can’t win against Cain as long as he has the sacred treasures of Noah-sama anyways.

(If Hero Abel masters the Light Hero Skill, he can defeat Demon Lord Cain.) (Ira)

…That’s…true, but…

(What?) (Ira)

I don’t want him to die -with him being a believer of Noah-sama.

When I say this, she goes ‘got it’ and I could hear a sigh from her.

(But make sure Abel doesn’t learn of this. It is that Demon Lord Cain that killed the parent figure of Abel -his most hated opponent.) (Ira)

…I will be careful.

I nodded at Ira-sama, and looked at Demon Lord Cain.

“Looking forward to working with you, Cainhart.” (Makoto)

“Takatsuki Makoto, if your words had lies in it, I will have you pay with your life.” (Cain)

Demon Lord Cain glared at me and said this.

“I swear on the name of Noah-sama and my life. Let’s clear the Deep Sea Temple together.” (Makoto)

Demon Lord Cain held my right hand.

The hand that had ended many Heroes was so clean.

And in this way, I will now be challenging the Deep Sea Temple together with Demon Lord Cain.

    1. Just like people said “As kids we love heroes, as adults we understand villains”
Cain past is really painful. He saved humans from the demons for the sake of his goddess and yet they betrayed him. And not only that he and Noah will be betrayed by those Demons too later. Poor him

Anyways Cain joins makoto to conquer the deep sea temple is expected for me but I don’t think they could manage to clear that dungeon yet.

    1. This doesn’t add up completely.
I think I remember reading a description of Cain depicting him as “too far gone to even been able to hold a conversation” but here we have him.. fully? rational (most likely more rational than Makoto at least) and coherent.
Also this author is amazing been able to keep us in a constant fall cliff after cliff after cliff. It’s almost like we are in zero gravity 😁.

      1. Wow. Seems like what I said in the previous chapters were right. Makoto actually talked to Cain and dealt with it peacefully. Holy cow, I cannot believe this (even though it’s right in front of my eyes).

      2. While the enemy of my enemy cant always been seen as a friend, that doesnt mean you cant make use of them to achieve your goals.

      3. To be fair, who knows how long they had to be fighting for Cain to start listening to anything that is said. The original description most likely didn’t come from any experience like this.

      4. Noah said in the beginning when she met the titan that Makoto freed that everyone should resume her schemes or something similar. I would not be surprised if this was all planned by her including the spell and execution of it that forced Makoto to go back in time.

      5. Probably because this is before that. That’s probably how he ends up. Abel isn’t even strong and just recently got the light hero skill. If Able is weak, Cain being sane seems possible to me.

      6. Well that is a description of someone else
but regardless it is also still very accurate. Cain can’t be reasoned with most likely because he’s a punch first think later kind of guy and he’s broken with Noah being the only thread he has left to cling to. The only reason Makoto can converse with Cain is because Makoto had info that pertains to the sole thing that Cain still holds on to which is Noah. And even then Cain nearly attacks Makoto again afterwards

      7. we’re all freefalling and being played like a fiddle

dammit author, you made me a masochist

well, he’s mad and obsessed about Noah, so Makoto attack him from that angle

    1. “But the words of the Goddess were ‘do as you please’. ”
Really ? Well, Noah completely charmed Cain, so it would easy for Noah to manipulate Cain. Moreover, Ira said that Noah was ‘inciting’ her Apostles. I think it was @simplethrone who said that (apparently ‘completely brainwash’ is translated as ‘inciting’ in MTL according to him.).
Also, Cain is forced in the pace of Makoto. He can’t keep up with him at all lol.

“Demon Lord Cain muttered and took off his helmet.
From below that appeared a beautiful man that could be mistaken for a woman.
But well, the person himself seems to hate his own beautiful face, so it would be better not to praise it.”

Lance- no, Cainhart is really handsome, huh. A mad and handsome knight.

      1. Beautiful people have their own set of troubles. Just like intelligent people can feel so alone in a crowd, or tall people bang their heads against low hanging objects.

      2. Noah’s kinda an airhead. She forgets all the time to hide her true form and ends up Charming and driving people insane. Remember when Althena summoned her to her church when they wanted her to convince Makoto to travel back in time? She showed her true form and drove everyone insane because she got too high-tensioned from appearing in the mortal world and forgot to hide her appearance. So I’m thinking something similar happened with Cain. She probably got too excited that somebody would become her believer and forgot to hide her appearance when telling Cain to “do as he pleased” and she accidentally Charmed him and made him kinda crazy. I presume Ira’s words are just her subjective take on what happened and anyways the Holy Gods aren’t any better since both Ira and Eir have tried to actively Charm Makoto to become their believer.

        1. Well, I just hope that she won’t betray Makoto. Maybe she will plan on betraying his trust, but she will change her mind at the last minute because she ended up falling in love with Makoto lol.

Well, all Goddess are like that, so I suppose that one should just choose the one that will give you a better treatment.

        2. It’s never been by accident, at their first meeting she questions why he isn’t charmed, and at the church I think she wanted to show the Time spirits to Makoto.

  1. Greetings, fellow readers, Reigo-san. I’m kinda early so I thought I’d wish you lot a good time of day, wherever and whenever you are now that you’re reading this.
Also, no ‘yorokobe shounen’ today, huh?

  2. Thanks for the chapter!

Oh Makoto, person of wonder, easily making enemy becomes an ally.
Hate his beautiful face… This won’t be the last encounter with Cain, i’m sure *insert lenny face*

Anyway, Makoto you plan to conquer the Deep Sea Temple in this era? You already forget your objective to defeat the Great Demon Lord or something? You Madman, even madder than Cain xD I mean, he said it himself to Cain that Leviathan is stronger than the Great Demon Lord!

  3. Wow! Sorry for before, I got so happy to be there today that I lost my cool… thanks for the chapter!
So, together towards Noah sama, is it? If I remember it right, someone here in the comments suggested it?
But what will happens when Cain (what a terrible background! ) will speak with Noah about a believer she doesn’t know she has?
I really want to see what happens next!

  4. Waitwaitwaitwaitwaitwaitwait… Mokoto??! Why are you going out of your way to mess up the timeline? Noah is still imprisoned 1000 years from now you know?

    1. Uh, I just realized Ira has been listening in the whole conversation but didn’t stop him. So it means ther’s no problem!

      1. Well, it’s actually up to Ira (aka Divine Disappointment, credits to savioroffrance) to fix the timeline. Noah and Althena said so, at least.

    2. I mean he’s already heavily messed up the timeline. Everybody in Laberintos was supposed to have been killed by Cain minus Abel’s party which would give them a reason to get revenge on Iblis and defeat him.

    3. His explicit instructions were to make sure Abel lives, and that he completes his mission against Iblis, other than that, do whatever, Ira will fix it in post.

Didn’t expect that kind of past of Cain and the other good information I got is Cain is beautiful for a guy and lonely cause of the barrier between holy god’s and titan god’s believer. He also sometimes a bit too trustful to the other party that’s how he got tricked into endless hero killing even tho heroes always born after a hero died

  6. Hmm, is good that Cain-senpai is now a ally, but because this will become really problematic later (undoubtedly) and because the believer of Noah should be one (yeah, this is pure jealoosy, not any logic) I honestly prefer if Cain-senpai go out of scene.

  7. This story is getting cooler and cooler. It’s throwing weird elements in all over, and yet it’s somehow working out into something pretty damn enthralling.

  8. Cain: WHY DID YOU SAY THAT NAME?!?

Had a bad trip flashback to BvS there, he’s even a dark knight. Haha.

    Thanks for the chapter!

  9. Thank you for the chapter!

    Wow, Cain’s past is heavy…

HAHAHAHAHA! Aren’t you cheating (even more) here, Makoto?! LOL

  10. Well, that went better than expected. I’d have been more optimistic had I known Noa had told him all that stuff to get the guy’s attention since I was sure just claiming to also be Noa’s believer wouldn’t cut it. I also had the impression Cain was more of a crazed berserker who words wouldn’t get through to no matter how much sense they made so I’m a bit surprised it worked.
Still, it’s a bit troubling having to worry about having to juggled Abel on one side and Cain on the other. I’m going to be dreading Abel finding out and falling out with Makoto now.
On the plus side, we finally get to see the Deep Sea Temple after all this time. I’m guessing it’ll end with them having to retreat when they discover just how tough it is though. Freeing Noa would be a heck of the game changer after all. We’ll see how it goes I guess.

    Thanks for the translation!

  11. Cain – Known as the demonic hero slayer and had massacred countless of people. Insane and Unstable, but is 100% devoted to Noah.
Makoto – A person who can be perceived as emotionless, such that even the vilest of demons shiver at his nonchalance demon-king hunting. Perceived as insane by everyone else cause of how often he says “Hey, lets go kill the Demon Kings. After that lets go defeat the Demon Lord” nonchalantly. Crazy for Noah.
Its hilarious since this entire time, Makoto said all these information to the FEMBOY without any emotions or change in expression. Their conversation pretty much went like this:
Makoto: Hey man, I’m lord Noah’s follower just like you. Got to stop acting like an asshole cause you’re making the whole scenario worst! Rather, ya wanna go to the temple and free lord Noah? I know where it is and how to go there. The adventure starts in a week, and we’ll have to find a way to deal with Leviathan, a divine beast stronger than the Demon Lord. Can you swim?
Cain: …What? Who, where, how? Aw fuck that, I’ll trust you.
    *Handshake*

    1. And that was the moment Cain realized, he fucked up.
Now he’s with the real psycho who wants to go and clear the last optional boss, who has damage imunity, magic damage imunity, poison imunity, charm imunity, bleed imunity, and add the imunities which I’ve missed.
Ridiculously high damage output, ridiculously high magic damage output, every single possible status ailment that exists on this world.
And to top it all off, stupidly high HP and MP.

And Makoto treat’s it like a nice Sunday morning stroll.
Yeah, I don’t know who the real madman is, him or Cain.
Probably still Cain, because he agreed to help him with that endeavor, despite him knowing that it’s suicide xD

I can imagine them going to the temple, taking one quick glance at Leviathan, and Makoto is like “Yep, let’s do this!”, And Cain is like “What in the unholy- NOPE!”

  12. Thanks for the chapter.

Are we getting another bishounen that could be mistaken for a girl like Leon? If Cain ends up as a girl, this means that Noah has been lying the whole time to Makoto.

    1. I don’t believe that Cain would end up as a woman be true. Since for what I understood, Noah did say that Cain was a man at that explanation about his past.
Although the possibility could not be ruled out since the Light Goddess iirc likes handsome/beautiful males so choosing Anna as a hero means that she was able to deceive her for being a female? I don’t know how to explain. Haha

    2. what if makoto ends up fighting cainhart and sacrificing his soul to eir as well? he could become leon in the future.

      1. I feel like if there is any sacrificing, Makoto will sacrifice Cain to Noah. There isn’t really any evidence to suggest that Makoto can only offer souls to Eir. Yes Eir was the one who modified the dagger but they never said what exactly the modification was and for all we know it was just a modification to be able to perform the Sacrificial Offering in the first place or to let it work as a semi-ranged attack like when Makoto used Snipe to throw his dagger at Shuri and it still caused the technique to work. Besides I feel like Cain would oppose becoming another goddess’ hero and he’s too much of a pain to fight.

  13. What a past! Kind of reminds you of Eden of Grisaia with Kazami Yuuji being a plaything of that rich mogul after his sister was gone.

I am 100% sure Cain is not insane from becoming a believer of Noah, but Ira said the apostle system corrupts their mind gradually. He seems sane to me at least compared to Makoto and Isaac.

Well, Noah-sama can’t see 1,000 years in the future, so I don’t know how much she will understand…

Why is Makoto raising flags here?

  14. “make sure Abel doesn’t learn of this”
    Flag raised…

And don’t know what will happen, but suppose they do manage to free Noah, she did calm down after the 1000 years in seclusion post being betrayed and great demon Lord death.
How will her personality end up if the is freed now? Well probably the author will end up with a deux ex machina, probably involving those time spirits

  15. Thank you kami-sama.

Will Cainhart and Makoto save Noah ?Will Noah fall in love with Makoto? Will Annabel feel betrayed? Found out next time on Demon Goddess Z.

  16. Well… ship? You know what is with this otokonoko (idk) it is kinda confusing but oh well

    +Affection points for Cain
And possible minus points for (Anna)bel

  17. Wow! Just woooooooooooow! Cliff after cliff. The craziest MFs in history just teamed up. I was like Damn! This was too much. Another bishounen has shown up. Thanks for the chapter, Reigokai.

  18. … a bishonen… A pretty boy… I have a feeling that Cain will become Leo a 1000 years later… Maybe… Who knows D:

  19. Hmm there is something I find weird. Then again this is common for most stuff that tries to use time travel.

The author always meant for Makoto to go back in time. The great sage knew him and so did Bifron if we consider his comment of ‘why are you here? ‘ back in the wood Country.

That means Makoto has always meddled in the past but none of his meddling has made any effect on the future. Forms a time paradox because if the meddling has always taken place, where does the unmeddled version of the past come from?

If we take time lines to have diverged with Makoto’s arrival then the Bifron and the great sage of the unmeddled time line should not know him. But that’s not the case.

    1. I have to assume there are a total of three pasts. The unmeddled version, the meddled version as the present knows it, and the even more meddled version as we see it.

  20. Looking forward to Noah’s reaction in meeting Makoto. But those flags tho… Will we see Anna falling out with Makoto? Anyways thanks for the chapter 😍

  21. Well with such a horrible backstory like that, I can see why Cain would become Noah’s Apostle. Noah probably should have mentioned to him that she can only have 1 believer though. That probably would have prevented all this. Cain just wanted more people to become believers in Noah but nobody could become one and that frustrated him and a Demon Lord took advantage of that by saying they should ally and oppose the Holy Gods who defeated Noah’s side and the Holy Gods’ heroes. Unless Noah was unaware of that restriction of only 1 believer allowed.

Anyways looks like Makoto has managed to convince Cain to become his ally. And of course he wants to immediately rush to free Noah by teaming up with Cain. Damn airheaded gamer brain, that is clearly a post-final boss quest. I honestly doubt they’ll be able to free Noah. I mean Leviathan is stronger than Iblis and who knows what BS obstacles Jupiter set up on Noah’s seal. I mean Jupiter is enough of a douche to first set up the rule that Noah can only gain 1 follower every 10 years but then goes ahead and sets the max limit of how many followers she can have to 1. I don’t know, something like you need the power of 2 or more Apostles of Noah to break her seal which is impossible since Noah can only have 1 Apostle in the past. I mean we’ve already seen how skewed Jupiter’s priorities are when he still refused to free Noah despite the danger that Typhon and his believers pose to the past and Noah’s freedom would be a massive bargaining chip to have convinced Makoto to become the Terminator and travel to the past to protect John Connor er… I mean Abel. Jupiter wants Noah to become desperate enough to agree to become his wife so she can be freed so I could see him make some BS rule like that just in order to break her spirit and relent to him.

“But make sure Abel doesn’t learn of this. It is that Demon Lord Cain that killed the parent figure of Abel -his most hated opponent.” (Ira)
Uh… that sounds like a flag.

  22. 7 days?! Makoto you are hella hasty I thought you were gonna invite him after dealing with atleast 1 demon lord, also I doubt they will succeed but hopefully they get some kind of result

  23. Oh damn, that worked? I think one of my previous speculative comments was too on the nose and may need culling. I mean, it does seem like the logical approach as long as you can prevent it from messing up history. Noah may still end up torpedoing her chances here.

I doubt Cain can reconcile with Abel, and he’s a liability to Noah’s reputation in any future where humans win the war. The best option I can think of would be for Cain to retire and pass Makoto his gear after they free Noah and claim that Makoto defeated Cain. Then the armor could be used by Mel or Johnny to improve their chances against Iblis.

  24. After saving Noah from the deep sea temple, she was nonchalantly cosplayed as a sensei with a strict look glaring at the two, because she dont know who is Makoto is.
While Cain is shuddering because of the charm of Noah, Makoto on the other hand will think a little bit pervs and satisfaction that curves his loneliness

  25. I find it weird that Cain just seems to accept that Makoto believes that they can beat the Leviathan together, even though he said it would be stronger than the Great Demon Lord.
Is the ego of Cain so inflated that he believes that with two of him (counting Makoto as equal strength because they were in a stalemate) they would be able to fight the Great Demon Lord, despite him being on equal footing with the Gods according to this era’s common sense?

    1. Cain is sufficiently fanatical, that he wouldn’t even begin to question “if” he can pull it off. And that’s assuming that Cain understands the difficulty of doing so. He’d go to any lengths for Noah. If he thought it would benefit her, that’s what he’d do.

It is Makoto that should have enough reason… oh who am I kidding?

  26. Negotiations Complete!
Convenient superboss ally for Deep Sea Labyrinth obtained. This is actually possibly a great chance to make a first attempt. Granted, the Leviathan is apparently no joke, but…like…maybe we can at least get some intel?
You know…I don’t really feel that threatened by Abel finding out about Takki’s affiliation with Noah since he’s pretty head over heels by now. An alliance with Cain should definitely be kept under wraps though.

I think you probably should’ve mentioned the 10 year time restriction, Takki. Surely Cain can believe time travel if you told him that too? I guess he’s already skeptical enough, but that’s the sort of thing that would explain a lot and you can fully turn him if you reveal the Devils’ betrayal. At the very least, Noah can read his mind if she appears to him somehow.

What a heavy backstory. I hesitate to call history wrong regarding Cain being unable to even hold a conversation due to his madness, since the people who said so actually ran into him. I was just expecting something more…monstrous? Anyway, time to tag-team a divine beast with senpai.

  27. Thanks for the chapter.
Cainhart joined Makoto’s second party, “Noah’ fanatics”

Make sure it isn’t known by your first party “Legendary Heroes”

  28. Thanks for the chapter, I understand now the real reason why no one can see his fate, he is way to chaotic in his actions, walking the brigth path of Heroes and dark one of the Evil Gods at the same time.

  29. Thanks for the chapter~!

Damn Makoto just recruiting him on his own pace, no question asked. Cain can’t even refute.

With this, we’ve opened up a route where Noah have actually been aware of all this and making her own plans. I do think she trusts Makoto to be able to do her bidding, so I don’t think she’ll betray Makoto in the end.

Also, Makoto has been too OP that the only place left to grind is the secret dungeon that you cleared after finishing the final boss. I don’t think they’ll be able to clear it, but might result in Makoto having a trump card or two.

  30. Thanks for the chapter. It seems Makoto and Cain have successfully teamed up, but I can’t help but feel their expedition in the Deep Sea Temple will end up in failure. No matter what Ira might do, freeing Noah from her prison seems like a very large alteration in history to be allowed. Most likely, Cain will fall to the Leviathan and Makoto will have to give up for now.

  31. thanks for chap
wow he’s like a 5 yr ol being tricked with lolipop,i’m speechless and noah too seems to have no interest in making him smarter

and yep mc did something crazy there

  32. Is he stupid? Noah won’t recognize him, and who knows how she really is in this time period… I think he might be making a mistake here… Might turn out wel, but if she gets out now, then what will happen to his own past? Ira would fix the time paradoxes I guess

  33. Pretty womanly face you say? So just like a certain little girl faced prince who belongs to a certain water goddess. A water goddess who gave Makoto a spell to reincarnate people as her hero. Honestly if that really is the route this is going then cool but my god girly face is such a weird thread to connect it that way.

      1. You might have noticed only a little a bit, because it is very subtly written, but Makoto is a bit dense. I doubt he’d notice an adult was the same person as a child. Also doesn’t need to be the same face.

        1. Yeah, I’m saying this because all the time he’s seeing people that “resemble” others, like the girl that is a relative of lucy, despite being dead in original history. Also, Noel obviously doesn’t count cuz she is identical.

  34. Wait a sec, if he releases Noah now, then she won’t have any reason to recruit him in the future so the current him would be erased. Makoto you need to think more about time paradoxes 😂

  35. It seems like Makoto cares little for his crimes. Usually you wouldn’t want to work with someone who has killed hundreds of Heroes but Makoto totally just ignored the fact that he is a psychopathic murderer

  36. this chapter in a nutshell: “he killed a LOT, really A LOT of heroes, but who cares? he is Noah’s beliver so that’s good :)”

    1. that’s a clear mind at 100% for ya!

why kill strong enemy, when you can recruit them and use them as your fighting power…

  37. A horrible past huh… That went dark… Oh, and should he really save her in the past? She doesn’t even know him yet and Ira called her scary…. And I honestly don’t like how he is rushing things like this, it makes him feel like a desperate idiot wanting to go home instead of the gamer that wapparently always wanted to ” top off” his characters, right? Spending time to make sure he wins and doesn’t play like Aya, you k ow? I am ranting, because it bothers me. And beer

    1. Nope! You called it correctly! I don’t know what’s gotten into Makoto apart from the desperation you mention? ¯_(シ)_/¯

  38. Welp~ Makoto has literally just risked losing the complete trust of Hero Abel which he worked so hard to achieve, just because Cain the psychopath is a fellow worshiper of Noah and because he wants to meet Noah in this time period ?
Firstly, the potential time paradoxes caused would be off the wall and more importantly he is literally disregarding Abel’s feelings and planting the seed of distrust and destruction in his own party. Because we all know how poorly Makoto keeps a secret.
It’s not the move that gamer brained Makoto would make and I suppose it’s gonna be blamed on him doping himself on ‘clear mind’ again?
But it’s not really hanging together for me at the moment and feels kinda rushed. (ー_ーゞ

  39. I think it is at times like this that this phrase gains more strength. “the enemy of my enemy, he is my friend”

  40. I get the feeling that Cain will have to die in the deep sea temple. He’s too sinful to be able to live after the war.
