Tsuki – Chapter 381: Strange Display

It has already been a little while since Tsige became a nation.

The Kuzunoha Company is thankfully succeeding greatly today as well.

To the point that there’s no need for the minute management of the inventory that’s normally needed.

We have been having continuous days of stocking up and selling out just like that.

It seriously is scary.

By the way, around the 3rd day of this, I thought about increasing the stock by double. This is obvious, but this was me considering the pains of everyone who would stay till late calculating and increasing the close time till it is sold-out.

We would count what remained of the double up and calculate the speed of the sales, then we could adjust the numbers after experimenting with it for a lengthy span of time…is what I thought.

But the result was a big tragedy.

The customers didn’t stop coming even late in the night, and it easily sold out.

We doubled the stock for one day, and we couldn’t decrease the amount from there.

Wow.

I can’t forget the resentful face of Eris as if she had crawled from the depths of the earth full of fatigue that day.

Akua and Eris are serving as helpers in Rotsgard and Tsige for the times when it is busy.

I am truly grateful for everyone who has been working in our store since its beginnings.

“By the way, what’s on schedule today?” (Makoto)

Because of all that, it is hard for me to complain even when I am very busy.

It has a lot to do with the overwhelming increase in people coming to Tsige, leading to an increase of customers.

However, at the same time, the name of the Kuzunoha Company has spread out inside and outside of the city with exaggerations included.

…In other words, the amount of merchants, nobles somewhere, representatives of settlements, and landlords coming for business discussions has increased.

Also, the Kuzunoha Company is in Tsige and Rotsgard.

Meaning that it was crazy busy. I am happy, but this is busy to a painful degree on the daily.

“Yes, Waka-sama… There’s around 3 matters that require the representative to go to. The remaining ones will be dealt with by Tomoe-sama, Shiki-sama, and the reorganized foreign affairs unit.”

3.

Right now it is noon, so…I would be finishing in the evening, huh.

I can deal with 1 more for today.

I have noticed recently that when I say I can somehow manage, it mostly ends up in a tragic result.

This time around the ones in big trouble would be the foreign affairs team, who are being called the Kuzu-san, that are going around a variety of settlements.

Despite how Tomoe and Shiki sometimes are, they actually have silver tongues and do their job properly.

Their perception of exhaustion is different from others, so even if I were to butt in, from experience, I can tell that it doesn’t have much effect.

It normally just ends up with them hanging out with me instead.

“Then, can you move one task from the foreign affairs team to me? Also, I will help out a bit in the burden of teleportation.” (Makoto)

“Waka-sama, pushing yourself is—”

“I am not pushing myself here. It is because I feel like I can do it that I am offering to do so. Don’t worry, I won’t be late for dinner.” (Makoto)

“…Then, one task only. I will adjust the team so that the teleportation matter doesn’t take too much of your time.”

“Thanks. Now, who is the next customer?” (Makoto)

“The Rembrandt Company’s Patrick-sama.”

“…Isn’t he coming every week.” (Makoto)

“He is.”

“That person should be several times busier than me though…” (Makoto)

“He promised that he would be coming once or more every week.”

“Hahaha…so after today, he plans on arranging another meeting next week?” (Makoto)

“No.”

“?”

“He has already made arrangements all the way to the next year…”

“……”

“…”

“It means that our store isn’t as famous to the point that he can reserve that many times, huh.” (Makoto)

Rembrandt-san what an outrageous way of making appointments.

Not only till the end of the year, he has made reservations for him to come once or more every week all the way to the next year too.

“Waka-sama, my apologies, but it seems like in the current state, getting an appointment with an executive and higher would require them to wait for half a year. As for new ones, they would require some sort of connection in order to even make it to an appointment 1 year later…”

The eldwa that has been answering until now said something fearsome there.

I see, so the Kuzunoha Company is already becoming a famous establishment that you can’t get appointments to.

…I am beginning to feel like I should actually be working to the bone.

The foreign affairs team is increasing their numbers on the daily, so I want to believe they are not being crushed by the work.

“W-Well, the whole city is busy, not only us.” (Makoto)

“…”

“Have Rembrandt-san come…” (Makoto)

“Yes!”

The eldwa-san bowed and left the room.

At any rate, Rembrandt-san…if you have business with me, you could call me anytime and I would come to you, you know.

While I was thinking that, the person himself came into the reception room with a refreshing smile.

“Heya, Raidou-kun! Looking well!” (Rembrandt)

“You seem to be the same always as we—ll?” (Makoto)

I thought he would go straight to the sofa, but he went to a corner of the room.

I say that, but it is not like the reception room here is that big.

I could see where he was heading to.

That’s…the showcase I recently requested to be placed there because that part of the room felt lonely.

At first it was placed at the first floor of the store, sort of like a display for mysterious objects.

It is the size of a family refrigerator.

From within the transparent crystal, there’s a lot of interesting things displayed there.

Rare things from the Mist Town and outside of Tsige. At times there would also be things made by using my memories as reference here as well.

It would switch the items in display around once every other week.

As of present, for security, the reception room’s one is the original while the one on the first floor is a hologram.

…We are slowly turning futuristic.

“Uhm, why did you go there all of a sudden?” (Makoto)

“What the Kuzunoha Company began recently…this ‘display’, was it? It is incredibly popular even in my company. I heard you have begun to place it in the reception room and that I could take my time to observe it… Man, it really is interesting.” (Rembrandt)

“Aah, it is true that it was only last week that we placed it here. It already reached your ears?” (Makoto)

Your ears are really something else.

“That’s because it was through your displays that you guys stirred the city for a time with your pottery, and then with the lacquer wares that were displayed in this manner. All of that was the Kuzunoha Company, so it made quite a stir with people of that taste. The enthusiasts of other countries even got residences here in a hurry for that.” (Rembrandt)

“Pottery, huh. Tomoe has gotten hooked to that too. I think it is more enjoyable to make them yourself than buying them, but there’s also the enthusiasts who like to go through the trouble of putting high prices on it.” (Makoto)

“Hooh…you can make those? Even when not a specialist in that area?” (Rembrandt)

“Yeah. That’s how fakes of famous works are born. Now that I think about it, you knew about pottery before they were shown in displays, right?” (Makoto)

“Umu, it is because a chef with a somewhat decent name for themselves suddenly opened a store in Tsige. When I went to check the store in order to investigate the reason for that, the food that was being served was on ceramic plates.” (Rembrandt)

“…Aah, I see.” (Makoto)

Due to his footwork, huh.

His information network is on a whole other level.

“Then, when I asked him about a whole lot of things, it turned and turned, and ended up being the Kuzunoha Company. Investigating something and ending up back to where you started. It happens often, but when I received that report, I ended up laughing.” (Rembrandt)

“We weren’t really hiding it though. We didn’t really put effort in selling them either.” (Makoto)

“Yeah. I heard that there’s around two displays that can be seen from the counter.” (Rembrandt)

Darkest under the lighthouse.

Even the information network of Rembrandt has those moments, huh.

“A dwarf that frequently looks after the store and Tomoe are quite into ceramic art, you see.” (Makoto)

Ceramic art has resonated in Asora to the point that it is a part of their livelihood already.

It is obviously used in tablewares for daily use, as water jugs, and as building material in some areas. It can’t be helped that some masterpieces would be born from it, and they would be used as art appreciation.

They even become prizes in the Asora Ranking.

“The lacquer wares seem to have quite the technique on them too. Though I heard that it is different from pottery in the fact that there’s some sort of cursed part to it that’s difficult but not impossible to replicate.” (Rembrandt)

“No way. It is just that the wood grain of the wood used as material is special, so it is more like a happenstance. If you are okay with one that was displayed the other day, do you want to have it?” (Makoto)

“…Is it okay?” (Rembrandt)

“Of course. I think pottery and ceramic arts will eventually begin to sell in Tsige too.” (Makoto)

“I feel like the country will increase in momentum even more with that. That’s promising.” (Rembrandt)

“I don’t think it is that big of a deal, you know? And so, what brought you here today?” (Makoto)

“? 80% was this. The remaining 20% was to check on your state, Raidou-kun.” (Rembrandt)

Rembrandt-san pointed at the showcase.

“Are you saying that seriously?” (Makoto)

“Seriously. By the way, the display of before, do you know that the hag of the Couple Company had bloodshot eyes from it?” (Rembrandt)

“That old woma—no, the energetic representative? I didn’t know.” (Makoto)

The previous display?

…Aah.

The one that has a whole ton of wheels and you control to carry stuff?

What should I call that?

It is apparently something that the lorelais and the dwarfs were deeply impressed with. They played around with it by moving around puzzle pieces and enjoyed it a lot.

By the way, I was shocked by the fact that there’s a way like this to move things.

It is technically a miniature prototype.

We tried putting it on display at the store.

It was as planned. The children who were brought by their parents had their eyes glitter by it.

I think we placed quite the nice thing on display.

“But what’s that? It seems to be moving slowly.” (Rembrandt)

The one we are showing now is also in the series that moves.

Should I call it the miniature A model?

It is an engine model that’s filled with passion and I personally like.

The miniature one that moved things was popular, so I think this one will also be popular with the kids.

It seems like it was popular for an old woman as well though.

“This is a stirl—ah…” (Makoto)

“Raidou-kun?” (Rembrandt)

A model for the stirling engine.

I noticed that even if I were to tell him that, it wouldn’t explain anything.

“Uhm…it heats the air? No, let’s just say it is an experimental device that lets you see the power of heated air…” (Makoto)

In the first place, I don’t know how to explain engines.

If I remember correctly, this is the current model, it is one of the igniting engines that heats up the cylinders from the outside with fire.

But!

I honestly only know around half of the logic behind how it moves.

It gives out the scent of a perpetual engine which overflows with hopes and dreams, but it is only giving out the scent as of now.

I simply heard about that stuff from my high school teacher and bought a small sized model with my pocket money, okay?!

I honestly didn’t know what was going on when the people of Asora managed to recreate this.

I think the structure of it is: heat up the ends of the cylinders, and after a while it would begin pistoning, and it would then turn the wheels that are connected to it.

It would continue moving in the time that it is heating.

By the way, it can manage a pretty decent speed.

That’s why we have lowered the speed of the models with magic so that it is easier to see its movements.

“? Fumu. In other words, it is an industrial article that moves by heating it up with fire in this way.” (Rembrandt)

“Well, something like that.” (Makoto)

“Different movements are made from the heating… Even when looking at it like this, I can’t understand the logic, but this is knowledge of the wasteland too?” (Rembrandt)

“Y-Yeah.” (Makoto)

“Even if it moves this slowly, it could manage to grab the interest of some groups of people for enjoyment. Sadly to say, it didn’t click that much with m—” (Rembrandt)

“Ah, we are purposely making it go slow -so that you can see its movement.” (Makoto)

“Hm?” (Rembrandt)

“In reality…” (Makoto)

I went to the side of Rembrandt-san and I undo the low speed spell.

Of course, the stirling engine model I know of began pistoning at high speed, and the wheels also turned at high speed too.

“!!”

“It continues moving in this way.” (Makoto)

“Could it possibly be…forever?!” (Rembrandt)

“Unfortunately, it is only in the time that the fire is heating the cylinder here.” (Makoto)

The downside is how noisy it gets.

The *dodododo* vibrating sound was reverberating endlessly.

This is so nostalgic.

I had it move around the top of the table for a while.

…It was so noisy, and I eventually got tired of it.

It reminds me of a dark past of mine.

“…This is interesting.” (Rembrandt)

“It was worth putting it in display then.” (Makoto)

“…This is indeed interesting. Truly.” (Rembrandt)

“Uhm, Rembrandt-san?” (Makoto)

“I heard you were using a ‘display’ which was an unfamiliar term for me, and here we are again… You really are an outlier, Raidou-kun.” (Rembrandt)

“I-Is that so.” (Makoto)

Is an engine model really that amusing?

Well, I think Rembrandt-san will get tired of it after a while though.

“Ah, don’t mind me. Go ahead and call your next guest.” (Rembrandt)

“…Huh?” (Makoto)

“I will be observing this. Ah, I would be really grateful if you were to return it to the slow speed of before.” (Rembrandt)

I blinked several times.

He is saying he will be staying here?

Seriously?!

“Wait! Rembrandt-san,that’s troubling! Anyone would stiffen and get nervous with Rembrandt-san standing at the corner of the room!” (Makoto)

“Just treat me as if I am not here. Please continue your business discussions without minding me. I won’t watch or listen to anything.” (Rembrandt)

“That’s not the problem here! If your business is over, please return for today!” (Makoto)

“I might have gotten quite the important task right now! Even if you were planning the destruction of the world, I will act as if I didn’t hear anything! So please!” (Rembrandt)

“I won’t be having such dangerous talks!!” (Makoto)

“Tomorrow! Right, can I come by tomorrow for a little bit?! It should be okay, right, Raidou-kun?!” (Rembrandt)

“I will be waiting for you on your appointment next week!” (Makoto)

“More jobs could be born for the weak mages, you knooooow!!” (Rembrandt)

I have the unreasonable Rembrandt-san leave by force.

It couldn’t be helped.

That’s right, I had no choice.

What’s that about mages getting more jobs?

Geez, no way.

I didn’t expect the things inside the display would gather so much attention.

…..

Uhm, the next things planned to be on display are…

A diorama of a city with a railroad.

A music box that you can choose the song.

A miniature waterfall incense burner.

A poem that can be seen through the drawings of a genius female artist.

A miracle transformation device, the ge—.

I mostly left the items for display to others, but it looks like I should check them beforehand even if it takes extra time.

For now, I should send back the diorama and the **tter. Both my sanity and instincts were telling me this.

Also, what’s that about a genius female artist?

The only one I can think of is Rinon.

A poem that can be seen through drawings?

Hm? Is that a manga?

Rinon was a genius?

Manga, huh. Even if I am wrong, I feel like it is going to be the next thing to blow up in Tsige, and that would be interesting.

I understand now that leaving it to them would be dangerous.

I told them a robot is a no. Geez.

I confirm the most dangerous one once more.

I wanted a toy like this! The transforming golem of your dreams!’.

It is the thought that a palm sized toy isn’t a robot, huh.

As if I will let that twist of words pass!

The spirit of the eldwa craftsmen is fearsome. They push it with whatever way they can think of.

      1. Dynamite was intended for breaking up rock and land for building roads and stuff, not for war… and yet… it is, upsetting it’s creator.

Now imagine Makoto in the same situation.. suddenly realizing an innocent thing he let the elderwas loose with could result in something even more dangerous in a world of magic…

    1. I think it was just about guns and war mechs. He was okay with construction mech so is idea was probably: don’t create weapons that facilitate large amounts of civilian casulties.
The engine, railroad or the elevator from an earlier chapter don’t count.

  1. Is this the starting of the industrial revolution? 😅
How long before Rembrandt starts making the railroad and trains that will connect all of the territories within their young nation?
He is quite scary in the sense that his instinct and thought process are exceptional!!

    1. He’s already found a good engine for it, and it works even better in a magic world than it does here. Just imagine the trouble that could be caused by Stirling engine, or conventional steam engine, powered by Kaleneon’s lava Draupnir.

      1. How long was that thing going to be… running? Burning? Melting? anyway how long was it going to take to cool off?
The stupid hero can make a magical nuclear explosion and Makoto can make a magic nuclear powered engine

        1. They said the magical heat of the ring was stable, so we can assume that it will last for quite a long time, considering the amount of magic poured into each of those rings.

  2. Hm, I want to see and know more of what others otherworlders did as technologicals advances, I mean, until now we now little things like the creation of the Academy in Rosgard and miscellaneous things in Lorel, but I want to see something big like the stirling engine that Makoto now introduced, I mean, the techno level they have is really disappointing considering the various persons that come to this world, so I at least want a prove that they do something as big as this but because of X and Y reason they don’t developed forward.

    1. If I remember correctly, a previous otherworlder in Lorel created ceramics before with the help of dwarfs, but later a natural disater destroyed them and killed the craftsmen who knew how to create them.
There must also have been a few inventions that were destroyed in wars or simply faded into obscurity.

I feel like the reason Makoto has been able to recreate so many more complex things so far is because the elder dwarves are extremely good craftsmen combined with Tomoe extracting clear memories along with videos and pictures to serve as guidelines.
Lily and Tomoki don’t have that so that’s why they find recreating guns so difficult.

      1. Yeah, I now, but there were two persons who understood the speach of Root, so at least two humans had a scientific level considerable so things as “simples” as the stirling engine and similars should had be easy to create, yeah, it’s completely possible that they were lost by X reason as I said before, but I want just a line saying that, that there were really things like that that but for some reason they are unknow now, like with the case of the ceramics, if there are no something like that then it just feel like all the other otherworlders were “stupids” for the low advance that they brought to the world.

    2. Higher technology require multiple technology to make. Space Rocket for example require multiple type of engineers .Each of them also require tools that is also made by different field. If only one of them get isekaid they won’t able to make the advance version, they can only make primitive version at best. The best chance is if the entire NASA or CERN personnel get isekaid WITH their equipments.

There is also the question of political will as the nobles would not cooperate and even sabotage them.

Also, lets face it most of the isekaid at least in this novel are neets, otakus and salarymen .

      1. I understand that and it’s logical, but what I mean is, for example, pulley, I actually think there isn’t pulley in this world, at least because of the reaction with the elevator, I mean, simples elevators with pulleys are something that if pulleys exist in this world should be there even if is a primitive version, a normal person can think of something like that, more if there were various otherworlders, and if one consider how otakus in that situation would try various things as see in basically every isekai that’s even more true.

        1. Don’t forget that due to the pampering of the goddess the people oh this world had 0 motivation to develop as they didn’t need to, it’s only recently with her forgetting about them and the demons gaining ground in the war that they realized they had to do something before they lost completely. Another reason is magic, why learn how heat works when you can cast a fire spell, why build machines when a magic construct can do the job? Our tech developed because of our search for a method to complete an objective, we have no magic so we developed science instead learning and using the knowledge of how the world works to our advantage. They have done the same but through magic which is how they have created the current spell casting system and continue to research it.

          1. The hyumans come from humans and the bug herself said that there are things she could change from their human nature, like the greed, so even though they are a different race they have ambition and curiosity like humans, so the research for the potential of things of our world knowing what we accomplished here is natural, more if the magic isn’t as convenient here because of most of people can’t use it and if they don’t have the affinity with certain element they tend to be useless with things that need of it (like fly with wind magic). But well, is really right that I had forget the excessive pampering of bug so they motivation of advance was low (which develop in the actual difference with the demons), so well, adding that and the disgust of bug with human, then I can understand better the actual technological level of the world.

    3. >I at least want a prove that they do something as big as this but because of X and Y reason they don’t developed forward.
I assume the main reason is Bug herself. Natural disasters seemed only happen on that world, when she wanted for them to occur like during terrorist attack in Demon Capital or spirit descent in Lorel.
Which somewhat explains lack of ceramics, especially when they are simple to make.

      1. Yeah, mainly something like a intervination of Bug because she don’t want a to advanced technological society, but also for thing like accidents as with the original person that brought to this world the ceramics, reasons accidentallys or on purpose, but a explanation in the end.

    4. Well most people that got isekai’d seem to have been neets or otakus who really only cared about their own hobbies. Just look at Lorel, a lot of its culture is the result of otherworlders going out of control over their leisure hobbies like bathing culture or cosplay. They wouldn’t be the type who would either be interested or know about more modern technological advancements. Like they might know about cars or a nuclear reactor but have no idea how to build one. Then there are others who actively try not to leave a big impact on the world for one reason or another.

      1. Yeah, but in that situation knowing the conveniences of moder society is only natural that they would try to make it so some extent, even if is the simple things like polleys for example, and even if they could do it because of their lack of knowledge the concept itself, the idea that they could say without pay much attention can left a incredible impact in the persons and with that in mind others can research for it, like airplanes, hot-air balloons, etc

        1. Most modern conveniences could be replicated with magic or magic tools so the isekai’d people might not see much reason to talk about or develop such technology. Like why build pulleys when you can just lift things with magic? Airplanes and hot air balloons would be replaced with flight magic or flying monsters like dragons.

          1. Yeah, but still is something which person with vision can see potential, if the otherworlders say “Oh, in my world a person can travel the entire world in like a day flying” the persons would react, and if they begin the research with things basical there would be advances, benefits, I mean, most of the normal people can’t use magic and even most of the mages can’t fly really well, tame and train a flying creature isn’t so simple and cost more than have a hot-air balloon, let’s say just as a form of entertainment, is more easy to have a hot-air balloon than a dragon or griffin for a aerial tour.

          2. Maybe so but again, most of these otherworlders are either neets or otakus. Most things can be replicated with magic or magic tools and they’re probably too busy going, “Woo! Magic!” or “I must spread the one true gospel of sexy catgirl cosplay!” or whatever to develop or inspire others to create more modern technology.

          3. Yeah, but again, they are otakus, they probably don’t have the ability to not leak trivials things from our world, like the concepts of microorganisms (in general things so little they are invisible) for say other example, that’s even more if they are pressured or fall under things like alcohol, with just brought the idea the people could think about it and that by itself is something big.

    5. There are several that have been explained, for example the culture of how to make ceramics destroyed by natural disasters, The quality of education at Rosgard Academy (made by one of the harem members of Root’s husband) has declined because the current generation’s education system is quite poor, and The Lorei Union which monopolizes almost all modern culture so that not many people in this world know about it.

      1. I can understand the first two cases, but the case with Lorel is strange for the fact that if they have all that concepts and ideas why the advance is so little, like no mentioned development in the creation of aerial artefacts (like the hot air balloon), in exchange they development in the agricultural side is good and considering all I can undenstand that they focused more in that, but still feels a bit wrong, could be me been so stubborn, but well, that’s are my honest thoughts.

        1. Why fly when you can just teleport to your destination? It can have some tactical advantage, to be able to see from a higher altitude, but the hyumans didn’t really think in that way before the demons kicked their butts in this war. Demons even understand the value of grafting monster parts into themselves to strengthen their troops, or making people into vicious monsters for sowing chaos.

    6. all your assumption are pretty much depend on 1 factor, curiousity, and it’s been stated time and time again, the hyumans really lacks of it because of the goddess, the demon stated that hyuman can’t even understand or care about information, whether it tactic or technique, this bunch mindset are : the more beautiful you are, the stronger you get, they actually do fashion show and parade before war for blessing, if they had some trouble and shortcoming, they don’t think what to do, they pray to the goddess

the closest one to care about info are aion, but they also just hoarding it without really know what to do with it, lorel also hoarding it without having the ability or requirement in how to advance it

they only started mumbling their way when the goddess went to sleep and the demon upraising

and about otherworld traveller, even if they give something, the hyuman won’t spread it, they prefer to keep it for them self, and it’s not like any world traveller that come are some kinda specialist, so it won’t be something big, and because it’s only hoarded, it will naturally forgotten in time, unless the one that keep it are long living race like the dwarf

  3. I’m sorry to bother everyone with this insignificant detail but it’s a Stirling engine (capital S), since it was named after its creator Robert Stirling.

Apart from that, is Makoto trying to go for the steampunk development? That could be fun.

    Thanks for the chapter

  4. An atheist citystate. Division of labor. And now railroads and motor.
It looks like Tsige will be heading towards the industrial age during this arc.
Let’s hope Rembrandt and Makoto will do something to prevent the pollution, child labour, poor worker conditions and economic disparities.

    1. Well that Stirling engine combined with the massive numbers of currently unemployed mages, should be able to skip the pollution stage of an Industrial Revolution. Now they just need to find ways around the massive ecological damage that also resulted from it here, and they should be well on their way to automation or something.

    2. it won’t stay atheist for long as he does not discourage those religion even those who worship him. Only reason why he intervene with the cult is that they are making trouble.

Well at least he didn’t burn down Monarchia and force them to kneel………..oh wait wrong series(Spoiler didn’t work, they worshipped his enemy and a devout just consider it as a test and helped establish the religion anyway)

  5. Thx for the chapter…

As expected from Raidou’s fans club presi- I mean visioner merchant. Of course Rembrandt will get along with Seiren, I have no doubt if they have spying tools like what Root has when spying Makoto and Sophia rematch battle, they will sell the recording video to the fanclub hahahaha.

Seem like the display will be impetus for another waves in Tsige~ OH miniature getter robo

  6. I like how this isekai differs from others, it slowly brings modern knowledge to a medieval age, not as an example: Arifuneta who brings a car and a motorcycle by magic. I think that possibly Tsige will be the second country closest to the modernity of the Earth; the first was a country or a town near Lorel

      1. With current tech it is possible to make humanoid mech. Only reason there is none is it is impractical. Why create a humanoid robot/mech when you can make non humanoid machine that can do the job with less cost and easy maintenance(maintenance of mechs would need high end labor and equipment)

        1. Like I said, when they got it to work for farming, but also the one they made for construction work. Since we only have confirmation of these two getting past Makoto.

  7. It’s like one of that Civ game where you enter Industrial Era while the others still researching Theology

Tsige gonna turns into a steampunk city in a few chapters from the look of it

    1. Hopefully it would not be cyberpunk as in that setting the corporation not the people that is in charge which is similar to tsige albeit a mild variant.

      1. Steampink is an art style though so I don’t see how that change who is in charge… but the companies control tsige anyway…

I wonder if any future airships will look like CIS ships from star wars? That would be great!

  8. Thanks for the chapter! This was a fun one, I can’t wait to see how all the nobles and merchants deal with Makoto now that he’s a big shot.

  9. I’ve always been thinking this
All the achievement that kuzunoha has
When Makoto couldn’t explain how it works
Just say that his subordinates made and people would believe it
I mean, i assume that other people perceive Makoto as that strong and charismatic (to his subordinates) but not that smart and the smart ones are his subordinates
So if Makoto throw all the achievement to his subordinates people won’t doubt that
Just like this new steam engine, just says shiki and the eldwa made it

  10. well well, tsige will have college of pyrotechnics and build steam tanks later XD

    thank you for the translations~
    stay safe and healthy everyone!

  11. Thanks for the chapter!!!!!

MC should be thankful to Rembrandt for spoiling that the displays were OP otherwise some disastorous things would have escaped into the world~

  12. So Rinon will probably become this world’s first mangaka. I wonder what type of series she would make? A shoujo manga? A hot-blooded martial arts manga? A harem rom-com based on Hazel’s party?

Uh they made a getter robo? Probably a good thing Makoto re-checked what was in the display case after seeing Rembrandt freak out over the Stirling engine.

  13. Thanks for the chspter, just when you though he quelled the advent of mechanization, the eldaws come up with action figures to sneak in the idea. How sloopy Makoto you really though industralization could pass like that with out causing some issues??

  14. If I were able to get to Asora, I would find myself horribly split. Do I hang out with the Eldwa, or be a Vegi-growing maven.

  15. Just a reminder; Root went Otaku on the game and one of the isakied individuals, he/she probably resisted introduction of nongame elements as well as anything that will cause the others to rise above Root’s husband. Root actually stated that when he explained about apple. Also the Makoto noted the bowman of the group had a class related to guns.

  16. Honestly is Rembrandt the president of of Makoto’s secret fanclub? I get this odd feeling that him, Toa, a number of other people are apart of it. He probably started it as soon as Makoto showed him the magic elevator.

Industrial revolution here we go! Although they would be using magic power instead of oil or coal as fuel.

Kuzunoha is just flexing their culture and scary potential secrets using it as an reception displays.

    1. If he is the president of the club then it is funny to imagine his daughters discovering it then seeing their father.

  17. He should definitely let the eldwa’s create a mech. Just think of how cool it would be for him to give his punch to that annoying bu-.. I mean goddess with a flying mech punch.

  18. Hi just a random engineer. It would not surprised me if the other overworlders did nothing to advance the tech. Since it take both knowledge and imagination to create new things. For example the first thruster /heat engine was made by an Indian and left on the library of Alexandra as toy for hundred a of years. Hell I didn’t heard this until I was on machine building on my last year of college.

    1. I recommend to you Release that Witch. Either the manga or the novel. Engineer gets isekai’d to a low fantasy medieval-ish world. Learns that there are witches, the first one he finds has fire powers, he saves her from hanging, they make cement to quickly build a wall to defend against the annual demon attack. Not a spoiler, really. It’s a long series, and that happens in the very beginning. Small spoiler: He much later finds an ice witch, and he uses her ice powers to more easily mass produce acids for smokeless gunpowder.

  19. Can someone be kind enough to explain to me why this damn Arc is turning out to be so fucking boring? i haven´t felt so bored with the novel since the time when makoto was all time in the academy. I want more of tomoe, of mio, of damned hibiki and bitch tomoki. not about all this minor guys copying every knolege makoto leaks.

    1. It’s just first chapter in this “Mirage City” arc.
It will get some chapters centered on Asora Ranking/Tournament later.

    1. It’s wishful thinking.
While Makoto would most likely be able to brute force his way into immortality anytime and his current lifespan is already boosted by his mana capacity, it has been stated multiple times how disgusted he is by the idea of immortality.
Heck, he even refused the golden apple from Futsu, which would have made him immortal.

      1. And it makes sense: people seeks immortality because they fear death.
Makoto, on the other hand, has sincerely accepted the inevitability of his own death and doesn’t think it’s that big of a deal.
Like Mio said, he doesn’t value life, so he isn’t too bothered by death.
Ironically, us readers probably care more about his life than even himself.

  20. Actually really interesting if the world conduct Revolution Industry, I mean there’s Magic and with the knowledge of Machine from Makoto something interesting would come out of it

  21. Its stated before after the battle of Alte and Makoto that Hibiki with the help of modern knowledge also helped in creation of things in Limia. While Tomoki is mostly centered on using modern knowledge for pure destruction and annihilation. Now we see Makoto give ideas to Rembrandt that will surely help Tsige evolve further.

  22. thanks for chap
    yay 20chaps to binge
    mc really needs commonsense lol

wait holograms, steam engines,magi……………..oye hold it right there MC ,dont change the genre this ain’t steampunk.

and the last line is transformers right?

  23. By the way, around the 3rd day of this, I thought about increasing the stock by double. This is obvious, but this was me considering the pains of everyone who would stay till late calculating and increasing the close time till it is sold-out.

    Well…it’s the thoughts that count I guess…

We would count what remained of the double up and calculate the speed of the sales, then we could adjust the numbers after experimenting with it for a lengthy span of time…is what I thought.

But the result was a big tragedy.

The customers didn’t stop coming even late in the night, and it easily sold out.

We doubled the stock for one day, and we couldn’t decrease the amount from there.

    Wow.

I can’t forget the resentful face of Eris as if she had crawled from the depths of the earth full of fatigue that day.

Lol, but considering the amount of mischief she gets up to…it’s well deserved

Akua and Eris are serving as helpers in Rotsgard and Tsige for the times when it is busy.

I am truly grateful for everyone who has been working in our store since its beginnings.

    You should be!

“By the way, what’s on schedule today?” (Makoto)

Because of all that, it is hard for me to complain even when I am very busy.

    Yeah, that’s correct

It has a lot to do with the overwhelming increase in people coming to Tsige, leading to an increase of customers.

    Isn’t that good overall?

“Thanks. Now, who is the next customer?” (Makoto)

“The Rembrandt Company’s Patrick-sama.” huh? him?

“…Isn’t he coming every week?” (Makoto) wait what?

    “He is.” WHHHHAAAT?????

“That person should be several times busier than me though…” (Makoto) exactly

“He promised that he would be coming once or more every week.”

“Hahaha…so after today, he plans on arranging another meeting next week?” (Makoto)

    “No.”

    “?”

“He has already made arrangements all the way to the next year…”

    hahahahaha! lol

  24. Somehow it brings the vibes from reincarnated as a slime. How they tried to develop the lands with earth techonology

      1. Its interesting the twists and turns some authors give though. Like how some the Deities of the new world try to suppress technology for reasons or some try to make it spread cause printing press + religion = highly contagious aerial plague levels of spreading but due to the convenience of magic it doesnt catch on or something.

In some novels the tech just doesnt spread because the inventor (usually isekai’d person) is frowned upon for reasons.

I think one of the best reasons iv read (cant remember novel name) that technology failed to spread properly was because of the lack of education and nobles not wanting to educate the masses cause rebellions and like every country went “Agreed.” to keeping the low born low.

        1. i would say mobusaka but your description lacks detail. i say that though cause there are rebellions every week

  25. They should model the transformer after his armor. Have it switch between red and blue with giant magic arms as accessories. Imagine all the merch!

  26. A bit strange that makoto as Knowledgeable as he is does not understand the Impact of a steam engine. Afterall Japan changed a lot when they quickly Industrialized. It was a turning point in there history from being a isolated island power to a imperial one.

    1. I mean, it’s just mostly Makoto hearing about it back on Earth, being in his memories, then the residents of Asora stumbling upon it while looking into his memories. Also, the residents of Asora aren’t really in need of a way for transportation due to them already possessing the mist gates to freely teleport basically anywhere…

    2. well that comes down mainly to makoto basically not giving a shit to anything that wasnt in the samurai era. also no matter how effecient they make trains or carts the mist gate trumps all so he probably wasn’t thinking much out of his company

  27. Rembrandt is a fucking reincarnated person or smth. The way he is pushing forward the industrial revolution is like he is someone who has expirenced it. Mass produced products with the division of jobs creating job oppurtinities for the masses. And now if Im interpreting this well he is planning on making use of the assembly line system. I mean there is no way he isn’t from Earth. Or he is just an amazing prodigy

    1. The title will be ‘I got reincarnated as a great merchant with a wife and two daughters at the city near the wasteland’

      1. add a “and I meet my best friend who happened to be extremely op and destroys common sense after he saved my entire family”

    2. Rembrandt is more of a genius visionary. It’s not that he’s pulling these ideas out of thin air, but more that he’s getting inspiration from everything that Makoto and his company have been doing. Because he’s such a visionary, just getting a hint about something is enough to get his gears turning. He’s like one of the heads of Shark Tank, an entrepreneur who throws his money at every good idea that he sees someone else have.

He probably got the inspiration for the assembly line system after watching the Eldwas work on the orphanage, where he saw them splitting up the work into tiny pieces and assembling the entire building using pre-fabricated components. That taught him that it’s possible to split up work and also perform the assembly of products in a different place from where the components were created.

He didn’t create the new ritual spells, he just bought them from the demons who had already developed them.

He saw the incredible impact that Tomoe and the others had and their rabid fan clubs that went crazy for merchandise, and created the idol groups in an attempt to replicate them commercially.

Just a few words from Makoto about unifying towns and cities into a larger entity was enough to break his preconceived notions about countries and cities and enabled him to envision a city-state.

He doesn’t understand how the steam engine works, but he’s currently struggling with a lack of manpower in the growing city, and he suddenly sees this machine that can seemingly create motion, and he’s starting to think about how to automate tasks.

      1. “More jobs could be born for the weak mages, you knooooow!!” (Rembrandt)

Yup. Even a weak mage can heat/cool a Stirling engine. Yeah, folk here complain about filler, I see world building.

      1. the excuse is usually “blah blah magical world lol so ppl are used to crazy sht” but I don’t buy it, i need makoto to be hindered at the least by something like all great innovators are. This would also greatly help the plot development… he’s just jumping over hurdles like their pebbles on his path and the story is suffering for it

        1. Well the story will suffer if it was a different kind of story.

This story isn’t about combat so yeah that way of thinking isn’t going well here.

He stumbleds and sucks at things that aren’t combat and everyone including himself knows it so that’s what he is hindered by.

    1. Rimuru don’t seem to have a problem with that in his world.

Makoto don’t really have attachment with that world so it won’t be more than a display to other until someone outside his group with talent for it appears like with the woodcraft or Rembrandt make it happen with the help of Makoto and Kuzunoha Company.

  28. If they have such a demand for goods, they need to raise prices. Oh, right, he’s not really a merchant, he’s a philanthropist.

    1. Yeah that’s the theme, a boy that started with 0 merchant qualities and became a bit decent with hard work after years.

  29. If Makoto doesn’t understand that how easily he could conquer the world of industry with the steam engine, he is a far denser protag then I ever imagined. He seriously lacks imagination and foresight, to the point that it is disappointing honestly. He rarely ever tries to make anything actually happen.

    1. Yeah that isn’t Makoto at all.

He isn’t even dense as a protagonist in general, he isn’t even the kind to want monopoly over something , hell he clearly avoids this kind of things and let’s others improve it.

1- this decision doesn’t show lack of imagination not foresight but it show him playing it safe by delaying the inevitable that is the world absorbing modern technology

2-y3ah that’s his thing he avoids doing anything because it will clearly provoke a domino effect and it might end badly.

You somehow even after 300+chapters don’t understand what kind of character Makoto is….which is worrying

    2. The author seems to jump back and forth between a chad makoto and a stupid one. I hate it. He knows what steam engines are and its basic principles behind it – there is no way someone is so stupid that it was the steam engine that changed the world. Especially for someone to declare themselves history as a hobby.

  30. I think the mc is having headaches. lol It seems that the elder dwarfs are going to the asora library and looking at his memories. And finding interesting looking tech in his memories. Remember given enough time, they can figure stuff out. Including how stuff actually works. Plus they have that battery tech they are working on from the disposed rings. lol Could just use those in place of other power sources used in our world.

  31. Hibaka : spread new way of thinking about politics
Trashmoki : creating future weapons ( guns and bomb )
MC : making future tech and stuff
