Tsuki – Chapter 367: The next move

TLN: Double Chapter today! Make sure you didn’t miss the previous chapter~!

“The countries are moving faster than I thought. Limia or Gritonia might have done something to contribute to that.”

“The one calling themselves the Apostle of the Goddess has gone missing. That might have had a lot to do with this.”

“…Hmm, in that case, Limia, huh. If I remember correctly, the man that was newly added to the party…we got info that he is connected to the Goddess.”

“Yeah, it was a report that we got about Limia. In that case, Raidou-sama has done as promised, and the Apostle of the Goddess is…”

“He must have dealt with her. There’s no need for us to know what he did and how. Asking every time how they deal with the sparks flying our way would just be rude.” (Rembrandt)

“…Right. It is actually quite the joyful thing. What Danna-sama judged would be bringing the most casualties for Tsige was the fight with him and the Apostle. People might have been dragged into that battle after all.” (Morris)

“There’s nothing bad in estimates going the other way. As you said, it is a joyful thing.” (Rembrandt)

“Even so, our casualties in that Apostle battle were zero. This is the first time your predictions were this out of the mark…I don’t know how to describe it.” (Morris)

“Hahaha, there were apparently casualties, you know. The cultists and the revolutionary army that disappeared from Tsige, right? They got dragged into it splendidly.” (Rembrandt)

“The report stated that they were pitifully wiped out. There’s a lot of things that are not clear, and the information lines are pretty stormy right now.” (Morris)

“There were around 300 at the very least; 500 at most, was it? Even if it is 500, it wouldn’t reach the casualties I had predicted Tsige would have from that battle. Man, Raidou really showed some splendid work there. I have been completely beaten! Hahahahahahaha!” (Rembrandt)

Patrick Rembrandt was in a jolly mood.

It is because he got the letter from Aion acknowledging their independence faster than he thought.

It is being said on the back that Tsige will be on the same level as the four major powers, and he is assuming that this is the work of several fronts, but this is something that they can investigate later, and no matter the result, he guessed that it wouldn’t be disadvantageous for Tsige anyways.

Tsige is now independent, and it has become an historical event, but the reason why Rembrandt is in such a cheerful mood isn’t that. It is because he is looking forward to seeing just how much Tsige will evolve, and he wants to witness just how much of the future he envisioned will take shape.

He purposely spread out the words that ‘this war must be won or there won’t be any meaning’, but it is not like it is the end once you win.

Rather, if you don’t have objectives you want to achieve that would warrant going as far as waging war, you shouldn’t even wage war to begin with. Rembrandt goes by the policy that war is something that should be avoided after all.

“Part of the outer walls damaged, pillaging of supplies and contamination, casualties from 1,000 to 1,500; but the reality is that the outer walls weren’t harmed, the supplies were unscathed, and there’s close to no casualties. Those were the estimates for the battle against the Apostle. And yet, that Apostle of the Goddess that had continued fighting off the revolutionary army in several battlefields wasn’t able to do practically anything against that person. That is indeed completely out of expectations.” (Rembrandt)

Patrick was guessing that this war for the independence of Tsige would have casualties of over the 3,000.

It was an abnormally low number that would make someone question his sanity.

Because of that, these numbers were only disclosed to his long time friend Morris, Lisa, and a number of chief officers.

At the gatherings of companies, and when he spoke to the mercenary group, he would use the numbers 8,000 at the lowest.

Half of the deaths he was estimating were from the people who would get caught in the battle of Raidou and Alte, which is outrageous.

Around 500 which would mostly  be spies from the merchants and companies, as well as adventurers.

And the remaining 1,000 would be casualties from the large scale battle at the end.

If commanders and tacticians in this world who have learned about tactics and strategies were to hear about this, he would have no doubt been made fun of and berated.

At the times when the merchants and adventurers were about to depart to dangerous missions, the Rembrandt Company said they would secure the livelihood of their families if anything were to happen.

This was regardless of how deep your connection was with the Rembrandt Company.

‘Are you planning on securing the livelihood of all the bereaved families of this war?’, It was natural that he would get questioned about that.

It wasn’t realistic for a single company to look after the families of 8,000 people.

‘Of course. I have obtained the approval of everyone, but there’s no doubt that I am the one who is waving the flag. Reciprocating the people who are willing to throw away everything for the sake of this city is…rather than calling it the duty of a merchant, I think it is my duty as a person’, Rembrandt, who wasn’t thinking about 8,000 but 3,000 at most, responded in such fashion.

However, a single company looking after the family of 3,000 people isn’t realistic either.

He would have to shoulder quite the disadvantageous burden in the economic competition that would be coming after.

On top of that, it would be one thing if they were to win, but if they were to lose, it would have been a heavy hit.

In reality, he may have said that he would be securing their livelihoods, but it is not like he would be giving them money for their whole lives.

It would be enough to introduce them to jobs, and provide them enough money to stabilize their livelihoods.

Also, if they were to obtain complete independence while Rembrandt still has the main leadership, the benefits he can obtain would be outstanding.

Work mediation would be easy.

3,000 or 5,000? He would be the man for the job.

It is certain that Rembrandt had that kind of mindset.

“What are our losses?” (Rembrandt)

Rembrandt didn’t use the word deaths directly, but Morris could understand.

“Around 1,200. About 300 from the deserted soldiers of Aion, and around 300 from Tsige’s soldiers.” (Morris)

“So there were more casualties from the stealth missions, huh. But in terms of looking after, it would only be around 1,000 households. It is really cheap of a cost in comparison to becoming an absolute hero.” (Rembrandt)

“…The incident at Rotsgard, huh.” (Morris)

“Didn’t manage to do as well as the Kuzunoha Company though. They have shown us a vivid example of what happens when a merchant becomes the hero of a place. If we can get it, there’s no harm in claiming it.” (Rembrandt)

“From here on, Danna-sama will be known as the Saint Patrick, but what do you think are the demerits of this?” (Morris)

Morris asks his Master with a small sigh.

“? There really isn’t that much of an inconvenience. My actions since my daughters were born have been decently saint-like, right?” (Rembrandt)

“…Now that you mention it, that’s surprisingly true.” (Morris)

“That’s quite the terrible way of saying it, my friend.” (Rembrandt)

“Maybe what I should be surprised about is that you still had these many fangs left?” (Morris)

“Hmm…we crossed a dangerous bridge, so of course you would get in the mood of joking around too. Hahahahaha!” (Rembrandt)

“Even with that…” (Morris)

“Hm?” (Rembrandt)

“There’s the need for ‘poison’. In cities and in businesses as well.” (Morris)

“We can just leave that stuff to the other places. From here on, the Rembrandt Company just has to use a first rate deadly poison.” (Rembrandt)

“?”

“Poison that will bring harm to cities and countries. If we have a concentration of deadly poison that’s enough to counteract those, it should be okay. Only the bad guys will be hurt and fear, and then die. Let’s go with that role.” (Rembrandt)

“Good grief. Looks like it is about time I seriously begin searching for a successor. I may have chosen my master myself, but I have no idea just how far into the future he is looking at.” (Morris)

Morris remembers the words of the woman that he once served.

‘The decisive difference between you and him is how far you can see’.

Despite both of them being at such an advanced age already, the future Patrick could see was far and above that of anyone else.

Morris ended up smiling wryly at that.

“Oh! In that case, there’s one who has plenty enough ability and youth, Morris! It is the twer—I mean, the student at Rotsgard called Misura.” (Rembrandt)

“I won’t allow you to make me the bad guy, Danna-sama.” (Morris)

“…Tch!” (Rembrandt)

The Rembrandt Company was slowly regaining its peace.

At the representative’s desk, there’s words like: the country’s public position, protection of the remote regions, core power, idols, exclusive roads, station, self-government with limitations.

    1. Also guys, recollection from chapter 364-365. If Makoto’s bow skill is already reaching to the point of ignoring distances, velocity, other factor and giving an “absolute hit” no matter where’s the target is. doesn’t that mean if he train that skill even more, eventually he can just shoot the Bug from everywhere, even if she’s in her own domain?

well… this is just a theory of mine. Because most likely, Makoto will still need to recognize his target so he can actually use that skill.

P.s: sorry for the bad English

      1. He would need to have a target, and then time to lock on.
Not clear if he would have either against Bug.
        In Chapter 151:
        “A presence appears.
A giant presence as if it existed in every part of this place.
Pinpointing her location is… not working.”

Also, it isn’t clear how much damage he could do.
Alte kept hitting Makoto with lightning, which he found painful but not life-threatening.
The Goddess, in her own domain, may feel the same way about most of the attacks Makoto uses.

        1. Yes, Makoto will need to Picture/imagine his target clearly so he can lock on to the target, considering her presence and appearance can be changed. It’ll be much more harder to have a clear picture of Bug as a target.

As to how much damage Makoto can do, he can at least gives some pain to the Bug, because seeing how Makoto’s arrow can make Goddess Athena arms goes numb (Chapter-170). Using that as comparison i can see that the Bug will getting angry then try to mock Makoto’s power is only count that much. While in truth the Bug is getting scared of Makoto power.

  2. >Poison
Are they considering to use biological weapons or something?
Unless they count Makoto as being the one of these, which he totally is at this point.

    1. Poison of society is probably a metaphor for getting rid of hindrances or cutthroats in their new nation. Rembrant mentioned privately that he planned to get rid of the executives that were hostile or a bother for Raidou after they win the war.

Tsige is really similar to the Demons in how they are underdogs and do not believe in BUG at all. Their history is very similar too. Origins or races do not matter, only their individuals skills can keep them alive.

      1. The wasteland is populated by those the bug goddess found unfit for her society.
The Apostle’s mindset was ridiculous. Expecting loyalty & worship to exist in those the goddess exiled from her sight.

    2. Makoto si long gone beyond the bio-weapon state, he’s more like a ultra-high enriched nuke, fastly upgrading to a neutrons nuke.

  3. The reason why the four major powers said that Tsige is on the same level as them is probably to force them to help in the demon war. Unfortunately for them, Rembrant will most likely not move as they expected.

      1. If I remember correctly, Aion’s troops and Lorel’s dragon riders were on their way to Stella Fort and stopped outside Rotsgard just before the variant attack.

  4. So Aion recognized Tsige’s Independence quickly and Limia might have played a hand on it. So Rembrandt does know about Gai being connected to BUG and is a possible Apostle.

I hope the executives of the companies in Tsige learns that devil = Raidou soon. Rembrandt seems to have his own conclusion based on it.

  5. Now that happened the fall of one aspostle I’m curious of what Limia and Gritonia is gonna do, more Limia for that of the party of Hibiki that now have the other apostle as a member, in the other hand, now that the thing in Tsige was “solved” could be time to center in the charm of trash. Hmm, what will be the next arc make my body itch from curiosity.

  6. quite a lot of info exposition
i really wanna know what their reaction when rembrant tell everyone the info about Makoto is the Devil

    1. “So, you see… our casualties are this much… lower than my expectation, mainly because Raidou personally dealt with the apostle.”

      “““How??”””

      “Well, he’s the Devil, duh.”

  7. Thanks for the double chapter, he doesn’t know about the monster in Tsige. Remember that Tomoe looked at Rembrandt’s and his butler’s memories.

  8. Thank you very much for the double chapter.

This last battle of makoto. I confirm my suspicions.

From the Rostgard arc, that SOMEHTING with eyes inside Makoto seems to have the power to affect other living beings (something like the trashmoki or bitchiki charm) causing characters to be affected in different ways.

    Here are some examples:

In the Amelia vs Illungand fight, her arrow was blessed by SOMETHING that caused her to accomplish the feat of power nearly destroy Illungad

In the first private meeting between Zeff the demon king and Makoto.
Makoto is surprised at his responses to how Kuzunoha has no interest in war. Everything was misinterpreted on the contrary, He had to say it again to Zef to avoid more misunderstandings

In Limia, Mio san says it is very strange that all those who fear Makoto fail to understand the simple pattern of thought that Makoto follows. As Hibiki who is praised for being very mentally capable, she always makes the worst decisions before Makoto is very strange.

That same pattern, where characters who appreciated Makoto’s power and are considered by other characters to be wise characters or with a good head even try to attack Makoto. As Ginebia who despite fully agreeing with Aznoval and Rokuya on how not to act hostile towards Makoto, she does the opposite by hiding the information from Toa’s group.

That same pattern can also be seen with Alte. She herself wondered in her last moments why she had to act like this, going to Tsige and causing her death.

If that SOMETHING can cause those effects, then:

What Root said in his fight with Makoto in the demon race country may be true:

Makoto is cursed by a god of misfortune or something. That influence could even affect beings like spirits, apostles or even almost the goddess herself.

    1. I think it’s kind of some weakened eldritch abomination, attached by Healer to save Makoto’s life, when he was a child.

Which is source of his misfortune, his existence itself spreading madness everywhere on Bug’s world and probably reason why everyone is lashing out on him by instinct. ”It” probably wants freedom, which would probably cause world ending noises.

      1. No, the healer wasn’t supposed to heal Makoto and he was supposed to die after his sister was born and after he escaped his fate, he was was going to be transferred so problem solved, that’s why the norse goddesses of fate didn’t bother reporting he to the other gods.

That “something” was his destined talent that he unconsciously turned away from and even the gods thinks its reasonable that he ran away from it. “It ” would probably die with Makoto that’s why they didn’t worry.

    2. Shiki kind of experimented on Amelia or encouraged her to become like him… so there’s that.

Zeff is a realist and pragmatist, so he was overthinking it before Makoto corrected him.

Hibiki is due to her character of always being a winner and overthinking things. She has never been the underdog in her life under she fell under Makoto’s shadows.

Ginebia feels like they were indirectly used even though they swore not to be involved in world events. Her actions actually saved Toa’s and her party’s life knowing how hellbent Alte was in chasing them down to the ends of the Earth.

Alte was simply being arrogant and prideful.

In early chapters before Makoto started suppressing his magic powers, people that saw him reacted hysterically. It’s not anything new.

The only point that is accurate is that Makoto has the bad luck encounters compared to Iroha’s good luck encounters. He’s the type when fishing for Magikarp, he gets a Feebas with a super rod for example. He met Tomoe, Mio, etc with that title of his when their encounter rate is supposed to be low.

    3. I don’t think that “something” can affect others as you think.
My theory is that the “something” is the soul of Makoto or something similar since his main method of getting stronger is thinning out his presence when shooting the bow, which can be seen as dying, according to Tomoe and Mio, and reviving which is a miracle that makes you stronger. Chiya also said that she sensed death from that “something” which makes sense if his soul has been dying multiple times and is now warped into an avatar of death. This can also be a connection as to why the 3 gods related to destruction came to see Makoto.

  9. Tsige might become the first “Atheist” city in that world which would seriously derail Hibiki’s plans.

I really hope they become the city to integrate demi-humans and humans together.

Makoto is so OP in a lot of ways. Overprotective and overpowered.

  10. I hope that Reverent Gay will be killed by the demon trump card that Sari mentioned, the countermeasure for apostle that sacrifice the life of demon general, I’m kinda curious about it.

      1. Well, it’s something Makoto deduced when fighting all 4 Demon general, and Sari didn’t deny it. Chapter 353 btw.

  11. Now I want to see a hole put through the mountains between Lorel and Tsige. A second golden road. A better, more golden-er road.

  12. Bitchiki and limia most likely are treating tsige as one of the main powers now because of raidou there and probably hopes to try to use him in the war against demons when the time comes.

    1. i personally think that Bitchiki only did that out of fear that the glame of war between Aion and Tsige would spread further to them if they denied it.
I think she will be suprised that Tsige would most likely consume Aion and will not participate in the war since there is no gain for them

  13. Thanks for the double chapters!

Best. Lunch. On a Monday. Ever.

I’d love to see how the city will evolve!
And Rembrandt wanting to propagate arts and increasing artists, that’s one of the reason why we modern people wanna live! Interesting.

      1. Really the idol project seems to be just a small part in Rembrant’s ideas but Makoto is paying a lot of attention to it just because of how Tsige seems to be suddenly modernized

  14. Mmm, yeah, Hibiki probably used Limia to lean on Aion to just let Tsige go.
She knows Makoto will not go after you if you do not poke him and for Alte to have been turned in to atoms by porcupining tells Hibiki that Alte did something to really piss Makoto off such that he wants to ensure that you never bother him and his again.

    1. In the political logic Limia indirectly invaded the war with Tsige, not to mention the problem of Limia is still not resolved with Loreal, maybe Loreal will go on a rampage losing the miko who sided with Limia on the one hand Tomoki trying to take over the Demon race loreal sealed by Kuzunoha and Kalenon as a seal. ” wise “released from the maze it is possible” sin “was in limia and was in the important hierarchy of the goddess church The goddess Norn brothers have prayed on their respective 3 beliefs that if the goddess continues to turn the wheel of destiny then distortion will be born along the way, even a god / goddess will fall from heaven, as well as whether punishment will be a punishment requiring the presence of a god who controls destruction, the goddess of war, as well as the god of disaster were present for work and duties

  15. I just caught up to the latest chapter, been reading for 3 weeks straight. It was such a good read. Easily in my top 5 novels. Thank you so much for translating <3

  16. I think Rembrandt lethal posion means the world will adapt the manufacturing ability of Tsige like China and they can’t move on or advance or progress without the product of those manufacturing ability.
If Tsige will limit the access of manufacturing ability top any country, it means they fall off short to other hostile countries.

For example, one country learns how to create weapons cheaply against some hostile country, but with the help of manufacturing ability of Tsige that makes it possible due to cost variance difference between in-country production and Tsige production. This country has been countered by the new weapon of the hostile country, both with the help of manufacturing ability of tsige. If one of those country pissed-off tsige, then tsige will limit the one that pissed them off like sanctions…

  17. Needless to say, no way Aion would just let it slide. They’re probably planning something….probably the bug is up to something as well….make ya curious…wonder when the bug is gonna realize how dangerous Makoto is? I kept thinking this would be where the real fight starts.

  18. thanks for chap
it is really a miracle of coincidences for mc
rembrandt is an absolute monster in some ways as well.and mc joining up with him was the best outcome.

seems like limia will be pretty docile for now

  19. A couple years later when telephone is invented:
Stranger: “Hello is this the Tsige President’s office?”
    Rembrandt: “No, this is Patrick”

  20. To place Misura in the same leagues as Ash Ketchum.. That’s rude, Pat-san.

At least Misura had the balls to date.

    1. You know, in This series female side have tendency to make male side became their “mormot” (In a lot way of meaning) On their relationship -_-. Take makoto sis to her boyfriend and his mother treatment to his fathers before merried.

You get it?, izumo that goes to marry the moment he met his partner is on (good) side, mokoto and misura got “in a relationship” With their partner Is (bad) side, Revelations🤣.

      1. I’m replying really, really late…but I would like to mention the difference in personality and circumstances. You see, Izumo is set to be a head of a fairly big family…and his upbringing made him into a type that doesn’t really go into dating relationship. This is also evident in the story with some people expressing surprise that he’s already properly engaged.

While he does have the option of “dating” her, making her his wife makes her a part of the family. This way, he could mobilize more forces compared to if she is just a girlfriend.

I don’t deny the part making males subservient to wives in terms of household/marital affairs, but I don’t think it’s a matter of the series since the girls especially those in his inner circle dote on their “Waka-sama”, the only exception so far as I’ve read would be the shrine resident.

  21. I wonder why the author didn’t explore the option of Aion attacking or kidnapping Patrick’s daughters? Its the most obvious ploy that have been used throughout history. Heck, modern china still uses it in a way to pressure chinese abroad that they are displeased with, to go back to the country.

    1. I thought about that, and I just think it would end up in Shiki intervening. I would rather not dedicate a whole chapter to that, but I wouldn’t mind it being properly explained.

    2. Sif and Yuno pretty much under protection of Makoto and Kuzunoha, still learning under supervision of Shiki and will become future employees for Kuzunoha. I dont think Shiki lets those spies even have a chance to get close to them in the first place.

    3. If they have brain for such underhanded tactics, they wouldn’t have a difficulty facing rebel or even the demon army given how big their millitary forces are.

    4. pretty sure rostgard is a neutral zone so if they do something like that they would be making enemies of everyone not just rembrandt. kinda the same thing as the golden highway

  22. Talking about Mitsura right after talking about first rate deadly poison.. Hurry up Mitsura, smash yuno while you are still alive 😂

  23. The new nation of Tsige has been born. All hail the King Rembrandt. :3 I like how others are covering up the apostles death. But Rembrandt just laughs and is like yup she be dead. XD Can’t even use the coffin dance meme for the apostle, there’s nothing left of her. lol

  24. Today Tsige is peaceful as always
War? Is not, they are just trading like merchant and customer(Aion) with farce negotiation

  25. Idols… how dangerous.
If Rembrandt were to helm it alone, it will be a business that can rival churches in profit, influence and worship. Even more terrifying if Kuzunoha were to join hands. Even if its just a little bit of contribution by ‘scouting’ some rare talents somewhere…
Those apostle of the goddess has nothing compared to the apostle of the capitalism and the apostle of freedom.

    Believe in Tsige Dream!
    eagle screeching noise
