WM – Chapter 179: Takatsuki Makoto speaks to the Goddess

“Noah-sama?” (Makoto)

The night before heading to the Moon Country, I was in the space of Noah-sama.

I walk with unsteady steps towards Noah-sama who is releasing a divine light as always.

At her side is the Water Goddess in a blue dress releasing a dazzling light as well.

“My condolences, Makoto.” (Noah)

“This is bad, Mako-kun!” (Eir)

Noah-sama had a hand on her waist and was smiling wryly as opposed to Eir-sama who was waving both arms up and down.

Now then…who should I respond to?

Of course it should be the Goddess I follow.

“Noah-sama, being exposed that I am an Evil God Apostle really hurts, huh.” (Makoto)

I also made a wry smile as I responded to Noah-sama.

“But the people you have helped until now have taken your side. It is thanks to your actions until now.” (Noah)

True…

Even when it was revealed that I was an Evil God Apostle, the Sun Knights, the Wood Country, and the Fire Country people didn’t turn around on me.

The pains until now were worth it.

“Then, it is thanks to the guidance of Noah-sama.” (Makoto)

“Fufufu, that’s right. Praise me more.” (Noah)

Noah-sama gets all proud. That’s cute.

“It would all be solved if you just became my believer though~.” (Eir)

It ended up as Eir-sama being ignored, and she was making a displeased expression.

“Hmph, sulk all you want.” (Noah)

No good, the Water Goddess is actually sulking.

“Eir-sama, what do you mean by ‘this is bad’?” (Makoto)

I turn to the Goddess of my country.

“What, you ask? It is war, war!! The Demon Lord army attacking at this time is completely different from planned!” (Eir)

“Eh?” (Makoto)

“Really, Eir?” (Noah)

Noah-sama and I let out our voices in surprise.

The meaning of Eir-sama’s words are heavy.

“And at this important time, Ira-chan has gone somewhere.” (Eir)

Oh…?

“Ira-sama is absent?” (Makoto)

“That’s right. Even in the Goddess meeting of before, Ira-chan and Naia were absent… Naia being absent is the usual though… Thanks to that, Althena-neesama is fuming.” (Eir)

“What did you talk about in the Goddess meeting?” (Noah)

I was also interested in the question of Noah-sama.

“Of course, about the winner of this time’s war in the mortal realm. If the Demon Lord side wins, our Faith Points are going to decrease~! That’s a dire situation!” (Eir)

Eir-sama is saying it seriously, but…it doesn’t really sound serious.

“Makoto, the Holy Gods have infinite lifespan, so they don’t really see much importance in the victory or defeat between humans and demons. It would feel like a sports game to them at most.” (Noah)

“…That’s…not true, you know?” (Eir)

Eir-sama gets bashful at the words of Noah-sama.

It is a face that seems to say Noah-sama is right.

For the gods, this is a game…?

There’s also another thing I am bothered by.

“Eir-sama, if it is about the Destiny Goddess Ira-sama, I have met her.” (Makoto)

“Eh?” (Eir)

This time, it was the Water Goddess who opened her mouth wide.

“No no no, what are you saying, Mako-kun? There’s no way you could have met Ira-chan.” (Eir)

“This is just a possibility, but hasn’t she Descended to the Oracle Esther-san?” (Makoto)

“Aah, that’s why her way of speaking was similar.” (Noah)

Noah-sama hammered her palm at my words.

“Haha, no way… If she were to stay all the time in the body of an Oracle, there’s no way I wouldn’t notice…” (Eir)

Eir-sama made a tube shape with her hand and was looking somewhere.

What is she doing?

“Makoto, that’s the Eye that Can See Everything that Eir possesses. It is ten million times better than your Farsight Skill, Makoto.” (Noah)

“The planes are so different that I can’t really get it that well though…” (Makoto)

The supernatural powers of Goddesses are truly impossible to be comprehended by humans.

“Aaaah!!” (Eir)

Eir-sama’s loud voice resonated at that moment.

“No way! Ira-chan is in the body of Esther-chan?! Moreover, Persistent Descend?! Even though Althena-neesama prohibited that!” (Eir)

“It is prohibited to have Goddesses stay Descended?” (Makoto)

It is an emergency, so wouldn’t it be more reassuring to have Goddesses closeby?

Unfortunately, Ira-sama seems to hate me though.

“It is a rule of the Divine Realm. It is clearly stated: Gods shouldn’t interfere directly on the people of the mortal realm. If we were to allow Persistent Descends, it would be basically as if the gods are the ones holding the main leadership. If the Devils and Titan Gods were to copy that, it might turn into a war between gods, and it would erase the mortal realm.” (Eir)

“Ooh…” (Makoto)

It was more extreme than expected.

Is Ira-sama okay?

“It should be okay. She is doing that Persistent Descend while managing to fool Eir who loves interesting stuff. I think she is disguising herself well.” (Noah)

“What do you mean by disguise, Noah-sama?” (Makoto)

“Normally, when a Goddess Descends on an Oracle, Divinity leaks, but I didn’t feel Divinity from the Oracle Esther-chan that you talked to. It seems like she is hiding it well.” (Noah)

“It shouldn’t be something easy to hide though…” (Eir)

Eir-sama made a ‘hmm’ as she held her head at the words of Noah-sama.

And then she snapped her head up.

“Uuuh…I am worried, so I will go talk to Ira-chan!” (Eir)

Eir-sama disappeared.

Only Noah-sama and I were here now.

Noah-sama stared intently over here.

Not her usual frivolous tune, but a serious expression that has grief in it.

“Hey, Makoto.” (Noah)

That face of hers was different from usual which agitated me a bit.

“W-What is it?” (Makoto)

Did I do something to trouble her?

“You are using Clear Mind, right? But stop using it at 100%.” (Noah)

“What…? It is at 100%?” (Makoto)

That’s weird.

I was careful not to use it too much though.

“You are using it unconsciously. Probably because of that thing you got there. Failing your Spirit transformation and being on the verge of being devoured by it must have etched fear somewhere in your heart. That’s why you end up using Clear Mind at 100% unconsciously.” (Noah)

Noah-sama snaps her fingers, and the bandages wrapped around my arm undone.

My right arm shining blue showed itself -my Spirit Arm.

“…I thought I had gotten used to handling it recently though.” (Makoto)

I have been training everyday, and I feel like I have gotten better and better at using it.

Was it my misunderstanding?

“Right. But in exchange for that, your emotions are slipping slowly. Even when you were confessed to by Janet-chan, you didn’t get flustered at all, right?” (Noah)

Noah-sama looked at me sadly.

“No, that’s not…” (Makoto)

‘Not true’, is what I wanted to say.

I was surprised by the sudden marriage proposal, and I was panicking at her arguing with Princess Sofia.

But I also feel like somewhere inside of me was indifferent about it.

“Uhm…could it be that this is bad?” (Makoto)

“The effect of Clear Mind at 100% is: Not losing composure no matter what happens. That’s convenient and also reliable. But having an unmoving heart makes it not a human heart anymore.” (Noah)

The serious gaze of Noah-sama was plenty enough to stir my heart.

What should I do…?

“Well, I am properly doing my work though.” (Noah)

“What?” (Makoto)

Noah-sama placed her hand on the small mark on my arm.

“My Divinity is stopping your Spirit transformation from eroding you even further. That’s why, don’t worry about it and undo your Clear Mind in your everyday life. Got it?” (Noah)

I once again looked at the small mark in my right arm.

“Is that what your Divinity here is for, Noah-sama?” (Makoto)

“That’s right. In exchange for not being able to return your right arm to normal, you won’t be able to transform further into a Spirit than this. My Divinity is maintaining the state of ‘Your right arm is the only Spirit Transformed part’.” (Noah)

“Is…that so…” (Makoto)

I touched the mark of my right arm.

It is slightly warm, and I could feel the affection of Noah-sama.

“Well, the last resort would be to control you through my Divinity though… If I do that, it will catch the eye of the Holy Gods and the Devils, so I won’t do it though. I am different from Ira.” (Noah)

“Thanks, Noah-sama.” (Makoto)

I lowered my head deeply.

In the end, I am thoroughly being helped out by my Goddess.

“Fufu, it is okay. Depend on me more. Or more like, you ask for the help from your god too infrequently.” (Noah)

“That’s not true. Now that I think about it, I have been sent to a remote region in the next war, so I don’t think there will be much of a turn for me though.” (Makoto)

I said this slightly disappointed.

But when Noah-sama heard this, she furrowed her eyebrows slightly angry.

“About that, I think you should be grateful to the Destiny Goddess though. If you were to be sent to the very frontlines of the Demon Lord army war, you would gleefully rush in, right?” (Noah)

“That’s not true. Well, I do want to get a look at the active Demon Lords though.” (Makoto)

How nice, Sakurai-kun.

Being in a battlefield where a Demon Lord is.

Noah-sama must have heard what I said in my mind, she frowned.

That’s what’s not good! What’s that about ‘want to get a look’?! You are not a tourist sightseeing!” (Noah)

“I would only get a glimpse from afar. You don’t get to be in an isekai often, so can you blame me for wanting to see a Demon Lord?” (Makoto)

“…This man is a lost cause.” (Noah)

Noah-sama held her head.

Oops, I troubled her.

“Noah-sama, I don’t want to see a Demon Lord. I will be doing safe adventuring from today on.” (Makoto)

“Liar.” (Noah)

Noah-sama looked at me with a straight stare, and she pushed a finger in the middle of her eyebrows.

“Then, it is about time I leave. I will be heading to the Moon Country.” (Makoto)

“Alright. You are going to be placed at a place far from the main battlefield, so take it easy.” (Noah)

I bowed to Noah-sama and woke up.

◇◇

At the travel to Cornet in the Moon Country.

It was settled that we would be heading to our location in a carriage.

Because I have been travelling with the Flying Ship of Fuyi-yan until now, I was slightly bewildered by the slow speed of it.

But we aren’t the only ones travelling this time around.

When I look out the window of the carriage, I see mounted troops, mages, and suppliers, who are lined up in rows as they march on.

They are the Highland Army’s Sun Knight Division, the Soleil Knights.

And the one who is leading them is…

“Makoto-dono, I heard that this is your first time participating in a march. How is it?”

The one who spoke to me with a smile was the captain, Ortho-san.

The captain of the first division of the Sun Knights.

He is also a familiar face. He fought together with us at the Highland monster rampage.

It seems it was the consideration of General Yuwein and Sakurai-kun that Ortho-san was deployed with us.

It really helps us out.

It is tough to talk with a stranger after all!

“It is pleasant. Is it okay for us to be using a big carriage like this all on our own?” (Makoto)

“What are you saying? Two Heroes and the daughter of the Crimson Witch-sama are in it. Of course it is okay.” (Ortho)

Looks like that’s how it works.

Ortho-san is in a leading position, so he returned to the center of the march again.

Lucy, Sa-san, Furiae-san (with the black cat on her lap), and I were sitting on a decently big carriage while facing each other.

“Waah, this is my first time riding a carriage.” (Aya)

Sa-san was flapping her legs in joy like a child.

…This girl is the Country Designated Hero of Great Keith, you know.

Even if we told this to people we met for the first time, I feel like they wouldn’t believe us.

“Eh? Is this your first time riding a carriage?” (Lucy)

“Yeah, I have only been on a flying ship and a pegasus.” (Aya)

“Those two aren’t things you can normally ride though!” (Lucy)

Lucy and Sa-san’s conversation is noisy.

As if they are heading to an excursion.

“…”

Furiae-san was silent in contrast to that.

She hasn’t said a word and has only been looking at the scenery.

She has been in a sour mood since the moment she was told the place we were going to.

“Princess?” (Makoto)

I called her worried.

Actually, before we departed, I told her: ‘How about you stay with Princess Sofia in the Highland Castle?’, but she responded with a: ‘I don’t want to stay in the Sun Country’.

Well, of course she wouldn’t want to…

She was imprisoned there after all.

“…In the Moon Country, I was together with many devilkin devotees as an Oracle.” (Furaie)

Furiae-san muttered this.

When talking about the devilkin devotees, it makes me think of the Snake Church… But it is different in this case.

“By devotees, I am talking about the ones who follow the Moon Goddess, Naia. But at the moment when I was caught by the Highland Knights, I ordered the devotees to run away. To not search for me.” (Furiae)

“““……”””

Lucy, Sa-san, and I were silently listening to her.

“But they are certainly searching for me. I was their idol as the Moon Oracle after all. There’s also believers who are crying and grieving, thinking that I have died… Even though I was simply living in a country elsewhere.” (Furiae)

“…Fu-chan.” (Aya)

Sa-san’s voice resonated, and Lucy and I couldn’t say anything.

“What kind of face should I make when I meet them?” (Furiae)

Furiae-san laughed lightly in self-derision.

“Fu-chan, just show them that you are doing well!” (Aya)

Sa-san’s words were simple.

“Right. You didn’t do anything bad!” (Lucy)

“Princess, if you are going to be going out, I will accompany you.” (Makoto)

Lucy, Sa-san, and I had the same opinion.

Ortho-san is an understanding man, so I am sure he could keep an eye shut for a bit of freedom in our movement.

There might be surveillance though.

“We are going there for a military affair, so we can’t be doing as we please, but…right, I will think about it.” (Furiae)

Furiae-san smiled with what seemed to be slightly regained energy.

After that, Sa-san, Lucy, and Furiae-san were talking to each other.

The inside of the carriage got slightly brighter.

◇◇

That night.

We advanced till the point that we were scheduled to stop at, and we are currently camping.

As of currently, the march towards the Fallen Metropolis of Cornet is going well.

“…I can’t sleep.” (Makoto)

This carriage travel I am not used to, coupled with a march surrounded with many strangers… Also, everyone sleeps early…

I am always training until late in the night.

““Zzz…””

Lucy and Sa-san were hugging each other while sleeping in the bed inside the carriage in a really cramped way.

Or more like, why are they sleeping in the same bed?

We have one for each person though.

They really get along well.

(Let’s train.) (Makoto)

I use Stealth in order to not wake them up, and leave the carriage.

I bow lightly to the lookouts of the Sun Knights.

I search for a body of water where I can train.

There’s not a single cloud in the sky.

It will soon be a full moon; the night was bright.

(Hm? There’s someone walking over there with unsteady steps.) (Makoto)

Furiae-san with a whitish one piece dress and long black hair waving.

Going out alone is so careless.

“Ooi, Princess.” (Makoto)

Before I called her, she turned around over here.

Looks like she noticed me.

“Hey, My Knight.” (Furiae)

Furiae-san locked her arms behind her back, and looked over here. Not with the usual glaring eyes, but a gentle gaze.

“What’s the matter, Princess?” (Makoto)

The moonlight was shining on Furiae-san, and that figure of hers looked fleeting, as if she were a flower that would snap with a touch.

She probably has lingering regrets about having left the believers at the Moon Country.

“…”

Furiae-san’s gaze was swimming around without saying anything.

Is it something hard to say?

I waited for her next words for a while.

“…If…” (Furiae)

Furiae-san spoke.

“…If I were really the Calamity Witch that will bring disaster to the world…what would you do?” (Furiae)

Bring disaster to the world…the one who said that was…

“Are you worried about what Esther said?” (Makoto)

The Destiny Oracle Esther pointed at her specifically as an enemy of the world.

No, the Destiny Goddess Ira-sama did.

The words of the Goddess that can see the future.

It would be weird to not worry about it.

That’s why I said this lightly in order to make her feel better.

“You can change the future, right?” (Makoto)

“It can’t be changed so easily.” (Furiae)

“In the first place, even the Destiny Goddess Ira-sama can’t see your future, Princess. It was just her assuming on her own volition.” (Makoto)

“…Right…” (Furiae)

Furiae-san isn’t feeling good.

It isn’t only returning to the Moon Country, the words of Oracle Esther are also working as a point to reduce her mood…

Not good, I am not doing my job as a Guardian Knight.

I have to say something that makes her feel better… While I was thinking what to say, Furiae-san spoke first.

“…If I become the enemy of the world, will you still stay as my Guardian Knight?” (Furiae)

Furiae-san, who always shows a strong image, asked uneasily over here.

Her teary eyes were the same as the time when she first told me to become her Guardian Knight.

The answer to that question was obvious.

I laughed.

“Then, that’s the same as me.” (Makoto)

“…Huh?” (Furiae)

“You are the enemy of the world, and I am also the enemy of the world as an Evil God Apostle. Let’s be the enemies of the world together.” (Makoto)

“You…” (Furiae)

I thought I had given a nice answer there, but Furiae-san was making a face like when you order cold juice, but get hot tea instead.

Hm?

Did I answer wrong?

Kuh, the aftereffects of Clear Mind are really hitting me here!

The price of losing my emotions!

(Reading the mood isn’t gone even if you use Clear Mind, you know?) (Noah)

Naah, Noah-sama.

That’s as if you are saying I can’t read the mood.

(I am!) (Noah)

I don’t get what Noah-sama says~.

(Huh?!) (Noah)

“Well, fine. Sorry for asking a weird question.” (Furiae)

Furiae-san returned to her stout attitude.

She is crossing her arms and making a bold expression.

“Then, My Knight, even if I were to become the enemy of the world, continue protecting me.” (Furiae)

“Okay, Princess.” (Makoto)

Below the moonlight, Furiae-san and I promised this in a light manner, as if we were talking about the weather.

“Naah Naah.”

The black cat leaned on the leg of Furiae-san.

“Oh, you want to join in, Tsui?” (Furiae)

Furiae-san scratched the chin of the black cat, and it purred.

Tsui has completely become the cat of Furiae-san.

“This cat. Just whose familiar is it? Mine or Princess’s?” (Makoto)

“Of course, the familiar of My Knight. It is currying favor from your superior, isn’t it?” (Furiae)

“…Aah, so that’s the hierarchy here.” (Makoto)

Looks like the black cat also understands that Furiae-san > Me.

“I will be going to sleep now. How about you, My Knight?” (Furiae)

“I will go to sleep after training for a few hours.” (Makoto)

“…Keep it moderate.” (Furiae)

I was told the same as Noah-sama, and Furiae-san returned to the carriage.

After that, days where we advanced in the carriage at daytime, and at night I would take my time training continued.

A few days after, we arrived at the Fallen Metropolis of Cornet.

  1. I really feel that his use of Calm Mind 100% isn’t conveyed very well in the general story. He’s constantly being surprised, thrown off, confused, etc, which would seem to be 50% at the absolute highest.

    Thanks for the chapter!

    1. Eh, I think it’s pretty okay though.
I mean his calm mind deprived from people who playing rpg perspective, kinda like when you playing game suddenly they throw weird storyline/plot twist. While it’s still make you confused but not make you panic either and after some moment you think “well who cares let’s move on”

    2. calm mind no quita las emociones las suprime la diferencia entre 99 y 100 no es mucha el problema es que al 100 gradualmente consume las emociones eventualmente no tendrá sentimientos pero es algo gradual nose siente el efecto inmediatamente

    3. I think the thing you should note is that *he* is the one saying that he surprised, confused, thrown off, etc., and everyone else is pointing out that he isn’t acting like he’s surprised. I believe that’s because he isn’t *actually* surprised, he’s just saying he is to, I don’t know, throw off suspicion or something.

In other words, he’s being an unreliable narrator. AKA, lying to us. 😏

      1. I think his mix of skills is messing with his sense of self. He says he’s feeling x, while his body isn’t actually reacting because he can kind of see outside of himself? I believe that’s what is going on but who knows. Could just be a messed up writing style that’s not attributing his actual emotions with how he’s supposed to be in order to add unnecessary personality (In terms of calm mind being on 100%.)

    4. I think Makoto being unreliable narrator here, he’s surprised but it just didn’t show in his face, remember when he’s using skill that call a baby that kill soul he’s surprised but the other didn’t see he’s surprised so in other perspective that make everyone think he’s a heartless monster.

    5. You know that there is, a lot of times, as humans, what we show and what we feel is different, right?
Don’t forget, he himself has said that he shows some emotions because that is what should generally shown at that point with a situation

    6. I think he is becoming pretty dry and emotionless actually, you can see that he is always commenting and joking in his monologues and looking like a spectator without having any tension or fear at all, like its all someone’s else problems………………

  2. To Gods, the war between Demons and Humans is just a game, huh. It doesn’t surprise me. I hope Makoto will teach them a lesson.

“That’s what’s not good! What’s that about ‘want to get a look’?! You are not a tourist sightseeing!” (Noah)
Ahahahaha, Makoto, you are really a lost cause !

“…If I were really the Calamity Witch that will bring disaster to the world…what would you do?” (Furiae)
“…If I become the enemy of the world, will you still stay as my Guardian Knight?” (Furiae)
“Then, My Knight, even if I were to become the enemy of the world, continue protecting me.” (Furiae)

Makoto, you are so dense. You should have said something like: “Being your Guardian Knight is irrevelant. If protecting you is considered “evil” for the rest of the world , then I will gladly become “evil” for you. ”

Makoto, do you realise what you just promised to Furiae ? You casually promised her to protect her even if it means making the world as your enemy. Furiae definitely has feelings for Makoto, but I don’t know if it is love or something else.

    1. Not dense so much as having no idea how to respond appropriately. Also, as he said, the world is already his enemy. He intends to go against it and likely, given the hints along the way, work to abolish the discrimination. Furi asking him is he would become the enemy of the world is mute, he already is. More so than her.

But she is so cute when she asked!

P.S. Yes Takki-dono is a lost cause, but we knew that anyway. Currently just finding it funny to see just how long gone of a lost cause he is

      1. In order to be happy, Furiae doesn’t need a hero who can save the world, but someone who will take the world as its enemy to protect a single person.
Makoto could also resurrect the Moon’s Country. In other words, he could create a place where devilkin can live in peace. That would be more efficient that just abolish discrimination and it would be one the greatest things he could do for her, and she will definitely fall for him after that. From her perspective, it would be someone who resurrected a whole country just to make her safe and happy.

  3. Isnt that kind of a proposal… Is she really shifting to Makoto? In the last chapter where Furiae met sakurai, it seems like she was just teasing princess Noel and not seriously flirting with sakurai and when makoto came, she suddenly became meek seems like she dont want makoto to misunderstood that she still likes sakurai…

Well thank you for this chapter!!

    1. Sakurai is probably her first love, so she should probably take her time to confirm her feelings. Her “love” for Sakurai might just be affection and Sakurai’s feelings for her might just be a mix of pity, guilt, and affection.
We should have a POV of her as they are in Moon’s Country. A POV about her thoughts on Sakurai and Makoto would be ideal.

      1. Pov of her feelings could be bit of a spoiler. On the other hand I don’t think she’s sure what she’s feeling.
The light hero & then Makoto are the only men she’s met that didn’t fall under her charm power. Even when she tried to use it.

    1. I don’t think that term applies here though. Firstly, she isn’t together with Sakurai. And even if she were, I don’t think it would count so much as something more like plain cheating.

    2. I feel the same but towards Noel rather than Furi, feels like Furi is already in the Makoto camp while Noel might also be harboring some feelings for Makoto too. After all she was forced into the marriage with Sakurai. + For some reason I get the feeling there’s gonna be a twist like Makoto is the actual Abel reincarnation and Sakurai is Cain

  4. As many people called it, we have confirmation that Ira is indeed doing a naughty. A very bad naughty. I so want there to be a confrontation between the Goddesses with Takki-dono there to see it!

And Noah-kamisama is using her divinity to protect her apostle? Why do I ge the feeling none of the other Goddesses would do that at all. For all that Noah-kamisama is a conniving and scheming Goddess I do believe she genuinely cares for (maybe even loves) Takki-dono more than the other Goddesses have ever loved any of their’s.

I swear more flags have been raised. I mean come on, this is Takki-dono, reality bends itself to throw craziness his way as a temptation for him to explore. I get the very strong suspicion that a Demon Lord will appear and Takki-dono will not only get to have a look at an active Demon Lord, he will get an up close and personally Raid boss fight with one. Noah-kamisama sure got lumped with the most difficult of all Apostle’s didn’t she.

You know, I am actually rather glad Ortho-san is with Takki-dono and co. Kind of nice that there are Sun kingdom witnesses who will be able to attest to what will happen.

Side note – Lucy and Sa-san are so adorable together!

Back to main notes – Furi is a lot more shook up than she looks. I guess that is really part of what makes her such an interesting and well rounded character. These glimpeses of her fragile side make her seem so much more awesome! And for all of Takki-dono’s inability to say things in the best way, he was able to cheer her up. Plus it is so totally Takki-dono to blunder through things and still manage to somehow survive, if just by the skin of his teeth.

We so need to see more Tsui! She definitely is far more perceptive of social interactions than Takki-dono.

    Bring on more chapters!

    1. What noah did violated the law (gods should not interfere with the mortal realm). She did it in secrecy so other gods would not find out. About what happens if someone violated the law, it’s depicted in the chapter.

      1. It’s a gray zone what Noah did. She claims it was accidental that she gave Makoto Divinity though she then said that since it happened she’s using it to protect Makoto. Eir was angry because she knows it could be used to forcibly descend to the human world but she won’t do anything about it so long as all Noah does is use the Divinity to protect Makoto since that doesn’t really count as much interference with the human world.

    2. There is a difference in treatment with Noah and other goddesses, yes. It could come to personality to a degree, but I think it is this –
      1. Noah has such restriction upon her that after loosing Makoto, she won’t have any believers for a long time. For the other goddesses, loosing a single believer doesn’t have much effect. They’re largely expendable. But for Noah, Makoto is not.
      2. The level of interaction is different. The other goddesses do talk a little with their oracles, but voice only. And it seems they don’t do so frivolously. Makoto gets summoned on a regular basis, and they talk in person. So it is natural to get more attached. Given that Makoto can actually view goddesses without messing up his mind, that’s a bit of a rarity. But because of that, he can get a lot closer than what would normally occur.

Eir seems to care a bit for Sophia though, but I think it is on the level of a cute pet. I think she’s closer to Makoto than her own follower at this point.

      1. In epilogue/last chapter of vol 1 at LN version, the giant old man told that this is the first time that Noah actually cared for her believer. This is considering the fact that Noah had one believer quota too in Abel/Cain era.

  5. It’s November 24! You know what happens!

  6. Who else thinks Tsui might be Undine? We do know that Undine was hanging around Furiae from when Makoto synced with Furi in the Wood Country

    1. That would be something that i would say a plot hole. We didn’t have any words of Naia-sama yet so far, and we don’t know any reason why she would stab Sakurai

  7. Thanks for the chapter!

Furiae seems pretty affectionate of Makoto already. I wonder what makes her still flirting with Sakurai though. Probably just because she is bored about Makoto. I mean, she can’t see any string of fate from him, not like Sakurai. I mean, i am comparing it to uhhh, like how we play a game and there’s this item we really love to use but sometimes we would like to try another items just for fun

Wait, so Makoto and the gang is accompanied by Ortho-san? Now that is interesting. Too bad Janet-san isn’t there (or isn’t mentioned yet maybe). If something would happens, now Makoto would have another big shot of the day lel. Still would love to see Makoto using some Lightning Magic sync though

    1. It is said at one point that what ever Furi doing can be seen as lewd or feels affectionate. Last chapter when Makoto just went home after coming from Destiny oracle’s place, Furi just have her one hand on Sakurai’s shoulder like a pat maybe to irritate Noel but when Makoto comes in, she suddenly removes her hand and hid it. So yea, she’s definitely fell for Makoto but just can’t say for since he already have 3 girls or maybe she’s just shy. I don’t think she flirts with Sakurai.. maybe that’s just how Makoto sees it …. And you know he can’t read moods lol

  8. Thanks!
    \(^^)/

One thought I had on my mind was that Makoto could technically teleport between Earth and this world if he learns the Teleport Spell as he has a source of mana with him.

Also, if all his emotions get “consumed” would he be like Cain? Killing everyone to solve the problem?

    1. i fink cain is more too emotional, not emotionless – after all, noah’s supposed to be charming people to insanity, right?

  9. I just realized Lucy Mama keeps visiting the moon. I think she and the goddess Naia are actually friends. Naia is a goddess from a different world, the moon is some kind of gate to go to a different world. The moon should be closely related to water.

    1. a bit of maybe related trivia: makoto’s calm mind skill is actually named meikyou shisui, the state of water that’s still and quiet to the point where you can see reflections on it, usually related to moon reflection

      1. There’s also his name. There was someone who said that Takatsuki means high moon, Makoto IIRC means truth. So his name literally means “truth of the high moon”. Foreshadowing much?

  10. Reminds me of final fantasy 8 quote “Rinoa…… Even if you end up as the world’s enemy, I’ll… I’ll be your knight” .

  11. Now that I think about it, Furiae is a Moon Oracle and goddesses can descend into their oracles. So in the worst case scenario (for moon goddess) she can just descend and kill sun hero “by herself”.

  12. Well it’s good that Makoto at least informed Eir about Ira. I wish he’d said something about Alex though. I mean Eir is wondering how Ira is hiding her Divinity and Makoto just happens to know a guy who seems to possess Divinity and only listens to Ira’s orders. That should be something important for Makoto to tell Eir. Anyways sounds like the other Goddesses are gonna be pissed when they learn that Ira is breaking their rules. I’m hoping they end up beating the shit out of her. Like I don’t think Ira is evil and has sided with the demons but I do think she’s an idiot that would probably screw things up for the humans because of her interference that would probably doom them all if Makoto wasn’t there to clean up her mess. I mean that most characters in stories that can either see the future or control destiny almost always invariably turn out to be smug assholes who always believe they are 100% correct and then somebody or something happens that they couldn’t predict or control so they BSoD. So I’m thinking that Ira is going to be making all these plans based on her visions without even one backup plan or contingency and then the Snake Church or Demon Lords show that they can hide their plans from her like they did back in Great Keith or they can manipulate her visions to send her fake information.

It’s good to know that at least the Sun Country’s military believes and has faith in Makoto so they go send him people he’s worked with before and could trust. Well I wouldn’t be surprised if that shitty Pope has sent assassins to slip in with the soldiers so they can kill Makoto when they get the chance.

Sheesh how much higher can Furi’s flag be raised? It’s already in the stratosphere. Furi pretty much confessed to Makoto there. Annnddd of course Makoto doesn’t realize it… Well at least he made it clear in his own way that he’ll always be there for her.

    1. Ira-sama probably just a crazy lass who wants her Father’s attention more by doing something she considered good so that her father would praise her

  13. It’s sometimes hard to tell the difference between Clear Mind and just being a weird gamer brain.

Furiae still didn’t get it, huh? Takki crossed that bridge a long time ago. Rather, I wonder if he can have Noah descend on him too? It might not be bad to have her around to consult with her and maybe some of the other girls.
I’m a bit sad about how this chapter seems to be a firm step towards Takki ship for Furiae though. I still much prefer her romantic relationship with Sakurai and platonic one with Takatsuki. That said, I’d be quite interested to see the version of the story where Furi is the first girl we run into.

I thought they were headed to a dead land, but looks like they’ll be returning to a group of followers instead. That…might come in handy.

  14. I abruptly thought that Tsui is actually the Great Demon Lord in process to recover his power, that or maybe could be Naia but in that case there would be the problem with the Divinity so I think is more probably that is the Great Demon Lord.

  15. thanks for chap
lol now it gets more and more suspicious on who the heck the cute cat is,so far we know:
it suddenly appeared some time after furi joined
it has no sense of fear against most of the scary enemies so far
easily escapes troublesome situation as if very intelligent/having foresight.
extremely loyal to furi and clingy
a familiar which requires mana, and mc set the flag sometime back “i will make it so that you cannot live without me”

  16. Thanks for the chapter! We finally have confirmation that Ira has descended and remains so against divine law. Things must be looking really bleak in the future if the Destiny Goddess is taking such a hands-on approach. As for Makoto, I can’t help but wonder if he’s going to be driven into a situation where he’ll be forced to transform his entire body into that of a Spirit against Noah’s wishes and what will happen to him if he does. Also, it seems that the relationship between him and Furiae is slowly progressing, so I’m looking forward to what the future holds for these two.

    1. Well Ira previously prophesized that the humans had only -I think it was- a 10% chance of victory against the demons so I can see why she might want to do something as drastic as break the rules and directly interfere with the mortal world. Also they did mention that Ira is a huge Daddy’s Girl so she might also be doing this out of a belief that her father Jupiter would notice and praise her for helping the humans gain victory. Of course since she’s the Destiny Goddess she probably thinks that any plan she makes based on her future visions will always work so it seems she isn’t making a single back-up plan or contingency so when something invariably goes wrong it’ll probably fall to Makoto to clean up her mess.

      1. Wasn’t it about 50%? I forget the exact number but it’s Eir who conveyed Ira’s prediction to Makoto. I think it’s around Wood Country arc

    2. I think Eir had said their chances were less than 50%, and that things weren’t looking good for the humans in geenral. However, she also said that the future can be changed. Taking into account Makoto’s being outside of the world’s fate, he’s probably the wildcard that will decide everything.

  17. thanks for the Chapter..
seems Furiae going waver between sakurai and makoto…
and i’m going to bet Some demon lord(new one) going be here or even the Dragon King

  18. I wasnt able to comment on the prev chapter because of stuff but
i think rather than Ira underestimating Makoto, its the opposite. Its possible that she can’t *see* whats going to happen in Cornet which may give her the idea that *something* is going to happen there. But she can’t just send Sakurai there because she doesnt know whats going to happen. So instead, she sends 2 other people whose futures she cant see with their strong party. She could have just mentioned it as “unlikely to have anything happening” so that the Pope doesn’t do anything unnecessary and would be satisfied with simply thinking Makoto and the gang wont be able to gain anything this war.

  19. My heart went thumping at the sight of Furi being suddenly melancholic on that full moonlight with Makoto.

Gazing him while swimming eyes, are an indicator of unsteady emotion.

Boys are tend to be like cool ate the situation like this even though they were not capable of doing any far fetched oath/promise they spout. Of course, im talking about real life conversation here.

But with Makoto, he can do the talk he had, but simply, the words choice of his was subtle due to long years of inexperience of handling a woman (i believe).

Also, my heart was saying, i want to protect Furi-san too, in that scene…

    1. It is what exactly it is. Just imagine you in that situation where you get something you didn’t order. Surely you would make a disappointed face or something like that because you didn’t get what you want

      1. I don’t think it’s disappointment. It’s more of a surprise than disappointed. Imagine you click cold tea on a vending machine but got hot tea instead. Your first reaction should be first and foremost, A Surprised one rather than disappointment.

  20. maybe clear mind is like reading a book you are suprised but it doesn’t show on his face and since he uses third person perspective its like playing a game. For him none of it is real and he is watching a movie

  21. Everyone is so used to Makoto’s BS that nobody mentions the scene of Noah trying to explain to him that he can’t read the mood and he just denies it and moves on.

  22. Thanks for the chapters, I fully understand the story line better than before. I read this far ahead and i have to say the author has really big twist plot he did.

  23. Well I guess that’s the time Furiae totally fell for Makoto? After all, the Light Hero can’t be the enemy of the world and so, he can’t be her knight but Makoto can. I’d say, she’s 100% on the harem now

  24. Thanks for the chapter~!

“…This man is a lost cause.”
Lul, even Noah gave up on that part of him, go wild, madman Makoto!

Ira probably sent Makoto there not because she’s underestimating him, but likely putting out factor x in the back, far place from the main action. She can’t see his future after all.

Also, it seems that Furi-chan has begun to crack. Will she actually melt to Makoto? Only time will tell. My fervent hope is that the culmination of her feelings will have a sweet ending.

    1. Also, those who thought author would be spineless like not giving Furi to Makoto but to Sakurai instead can ask for forgiveness now

      Kneel, mwahahahahaha

      1. The author has been good at following cliché and then dancing around them. Personally, I feel like it’s a pretty natural progression for Furiae to move on to Makoto. There’s infatuation, and then there’s love. The former can become the latter, but not always.

  25. You know he’s weird when even the goddesses think he is. In a way, Makoto’s approach to things is also god-like, but even more extreme. The goddesses at least are still attached to the world and in some ways care about it as a very real place, Makoto is approaching things as though he’s really just sitting in front of a monitor with a controller in hand. I kinda suspect now that RPG Player is doing something not unlike Clear Mind in the sense that it affects his mind since his gamer approach to things seem rather consistent regardless of Clear Mind.

There’s also those Earth-made product some chapter back. Where’s Earth in the grand scheme of things anyway, or is it just that Amazon is universal?

Always nice to see Makoto hanging around people who at least appreciates him.
