WM – Chapter 176: Takatsuki Makoto speaks to the Destiny Oracle

“Was leaving your comrades okay?” (Janet)

Janet-san looks at me worried.

“It didn’t look like we could have a calm talk with how things were going.” (Makoto)

When I told Lucy, Sa-san, and Furiae-san I would go meet the Destiny Oracle, they all were against it.

“Makoto! Meeting a person like that, what are you thinking?!” (Lucy)

“Takatsuki-kun, I will go too. If that Hero Alex of before attacks, I will beat him up!” (Aya)

“My Knight, it has been exposed that you are an Evil God Apostle, you know?! Stay put!” (Furiae)

They all had incredibly threatening attitudes.

“It is okay.” (Makoto)

I convinced my agitated comrades, and Janet-san and I were now walking around Symphonia.

We are heading to the residence where the Destiny Oracle supposedly is at.

It is apparently the headquarters of the big nobles of Camelon.

“By the way…I wasn’t there, but I heard that the Oracle Esther was holding quite the animosity towards you guys. Is it really going to be okay?” (Janet)

Even Janet-san asked me in an insecure tone.

“The one with the high animosity towards the Evil God Apostle was the Pope-sama.” (Makoto)

The old man that glared at me with killing intent.

It would be best not to approach him.

But it didn’t feel like Oracle Esther was that interested in me.

I would say her aim was Furiae-san.

Well, there’s the chance that I am mistaken and she will suddenly throw that Hero at me though…

I would have wanted to have someone with a strong standing to accompany as insurance.

I was thinking about Sakurai-kun or General Tariska, but the young lady of the Valentine household isn’t bad either.

“We are here. This is the residence of the number one noble family of Camelon, the Berkley household.” (Janet)

“Big…” (Makoto)

This residence was giving out a conspicuous presence even within the noble district of Symphonia.

An overly big garden.

A giant fountain and sculpture.

There’s a whole lot of gardeners busily tending things.

The maintenance cost feels like it would be incredible…

“I have gotten an appointment. Let’s go.” (Janet)

“Okay, thanks a lot.” (Makoto)

I thank Janet-san and cross the gate of the residence.

When Janet-san told her name to the gatekeeper, we were easily allowed in.

As expected of the young lady of the Valentine household.

We were guided by a butler and entered the residence.

◇◇

“Evil God Apostle, Makoto, to think that you would brazenly come here. Are the screws in your head okay?”

Harsh words suddenly flew my way.

In the guest room we were let in, the Destiny Oracle Esther was waiting there to my surprise.

Her usual ice cold gaze.

“I thank you for giving us your time despite the sudden visit.” (Janet)

“I don’t mind, Janet-san. But you really should learn to choose your man, you know?” (Esther)

“I am doing this because I want to.” (Janet)

“Is that so… You have bad taste.” (Esther)

You two, can you please stop that when I am present?

“……”

“Fufu.” (Esther)

Oracle Esther must have noticed my stare, she grinned at me.

This woman…she really does have a bad personality.

“There’s no time to waste in pointless chatter. State your business.” (Esther)

The voice of Esther was endlessly light.

No, you are the one who began the pointless chatter, you know?

Well, fine.

Let’s fulfill our objective.

“‘The Moon Oracle Furiae-san will bring disaster to this world’, that’s what the Destiny Goddess Ira-sama said, right?” (Makoto)

I speak out what Esther said before in the meeting room.

“Yes, that’s right. That’s why you should confine the Moon Oracle at once.” (Esther)

“That I can’t do.” (Makoto)

I say that and prepare my next words.

The one in front of me is the Destiny Goddess’s Oracle.

The one who can hear the voice of the Goddess Ira-sama who is said to be able to see all the futures of this world.

The meaning of her words are heavy.

“I want you to tell me in detail what that disaster is.” (Makoto)

This is the objective of my visit.

Confining Furiae-san is definitely not allowed.

But if it is a future that we already know will happen, it should be stoppable.

“…”

Oracle Esther doesn’t answer.

“Esther-sama? I ask this of you, too. Please tell us.” (Janet)

Janet-san and I waited patiently.

“…The 7 Goddesses that govern the elements of this world. Do you know that there’s an exception within them?” (Esther)

““?””

She suddenly began talking about something unrelated.

“It is related. Just answer already.” (Esther)

“Are you talking about the Moon Goddess Naia-sama?” (Janet)

Janet-san answered the question of Esther.

“That’s right. The Moon Goddess Naia isn’t from this world, but from an outside world. She is a different divine being from the Holy Gods who use the moon as their territory.” (Esther)

“…I didn’t know.” (Makoto)

In the temple they didn’t teach me properly about moon magic and the Moon Goddess.

Their stance was that it was better to know nothing about it.

“The clairvoyance of the Destiny Goddess Ira-sama is solely connected to the things of this world. She can’t see the future of the Moon Goddess’s Oracle, Furiae.” (Esther)

“Oi, doesn’t that mean…” (Makoto)

What was that about ‘the Moon Oracle will bring disaster’?

That’s a big fat lie!

“Esther-sama, then when you said that the Moon Oracle will bring disaster—” (Janet)

Janet-san asked as if criticizing her, but it was cut off by the next words.

“After the Great Demon Lord resurrects, the Light Hero will die, and the world will once again fall into servitude.” (Esther)

““?!””

Janet-san opened her eyes wide in surprise.

I most likely have the same face.

Eir-sama also said something similar.

That the chances of us losing in the war against demons was higher.

But when the Destiny Oracle says it so clearly…

“I-Is that…an unavoidable future?” (Janet)

Janet-san’s voice is trembling.

Hearing this, Esther smiled lightly.

“The future can be changed.” (Esther)

Oracle Esther stated powerfully.

“That’s what I am here for. The reason why I proposed the Northern Expedition was because it was a set up move for our victory. I won’t let the Great Demon Lord do as it wishes.” (Esther)

“So you were the one who proposed the Northern Expedition.” (Makoto)

I thought for sure it was someone from the Sun Country.

“It is all for the sake of humanity.” (Esther)

The gentle smile of Oracle Ester was filled with affection like that of a Goddess.

She should keep that face the whole time.

Esther soon returned to a cold one.

“However, I still see the future of the Light Hero being pierced in the chest by a sword. I…can’t see who did it.” (Esther)

“Can’t see…” (Makoto)

The dots have been connected.

The being that the Destiny Goddess cannot see.

There’s a high chance it has to do with a person that’s involved with a god from an outside world.

In other words, there’s a high chance it has to do with someone connected to the Moon Goddess, huh…

“But Furiae-san and Sakurai-kun like each other, you know? I really can’t imagine Furiae-san doing something like that.” (Makoto)

My opinion was laughed at by Oracle Esther as if making fun of me.

That’s exactly why. Love related problems are common, right?” (Esther)

“No, this is not a morning drama…” (Makoto)

“It is similar.” (Esther)

“Is it?” (Makoto)

“Uhm…what are you talking about?” (Janet)

Janet-san retorted to our conversation.

Of course she wouldn’t know what a morning drama is.

Why did Esther get it?

“And so, what will you do? Will you listen to what I say?” (Esther)

“As I said, I refuse.” (Makoto)

“What a stubborn man -for a damn Evil God Apostle.” (Esther)

“…By the way, what are the chances of me being the culprit?” (Makoto)

She has been pushing the logic that Furiae-san is the culprit for a while now, but from an objective point of view, aren’t I also suspicious?

My predecessor is the Crazed Hero that was famous for being the Hero Killer after all.

“The weak Apostle of Noah from this generation can’t hurt the Light Hero. In the first place, you can’t even swing a sword properly, right?” (Esther)

“…You are absolutely correct.” (Makoto)

My stats are so low, I can’t equip a sword.

“Moreover, Typhon deceived Noah 1,000 years ago. If she is going to take the side of the Great Demon Lord again, she would be quite the idiot. Well, Noah being an idiot isn’t anything new though.” (Esther)

“…Aren’t you going too far?” (Makoto)

She is slandering you there, Noah-sama.

(Kiih! What’s with this woman?!) (Noah)

Now now, calm down.

“Then, you are saying I am not the culprit?” (Makoto)

“Yeah. Moreover, Eir-neesa—Eir-sama is watching over Noah in the Deep Sea Temple. If there’s any suspicious moves from her, she will be able to tell immediately.” (Esther)

“But it seems like she hasn’t been to the Deep Sea Temple lately, you know?” (Makoto)

“…Eh? That’s not good. A lookout is required for Noah. I will confirm.” (Esther)

Hm? Did I say something unnecessary?

(At any rate, this Oracle…) (Noah)

Judging from her way of speaking and her words, could it be…

“Anyways, my actions are all in order to have humanity win against the Great Demon Lord. If you understand, leave already.” (Esther)

She made a shoo shoo gesture.

This woman…

“Then, I will be leaving. Thank you for the information.” (Makoto)

I decided to thank her and leave.

“Oh? You are obedient. Then, one last thing. If you stop being the Apostle of Noah and follow the Destiny Goddess Ira-sama, I can be a little more kind to you.” (Esther)

A tone as if poking fun at me.

It is most likely a joke.

“I am fateful to Noah-sama, you see.” (Makoto)

“Oh, that’s a pity.” (Esther)

She said it without a single sign of pity.

Despite everything, I managed to get a lot of information.

I am grateful for that.

We thank Oracle Esther and left the residence.

◇◇

Janet-san and I look back at the conversation of before as we walk.

“Is it true…that the Light Hero will fall?” (Janet)

The voice of Janet-san was sullen.

“I really find it hard to imagine Sakurai-kun losing.” (Makoto)

I don’t want to imagine a scenario where my childhood friend dies.

“Well, let’s put our hopes on the Destiny Oracle. It seems like she is serious in doing something about the Great Demon Lord.” (Makoto)

“About that, in the latter half, it even felt as if you were pretty close to each other -you and Esther-sama.” (Janet)

“Really?” (Makoto)

Janet-san said with a slight glare.

Janet-san and I were walking slowly in the noble district of Symphonia.

“By the way, Takatsuki Makoto, you will at least accompany me to a meal, right?” (Janet)

“Eh?” (Makoto)

I wanted to return to the inn quickly if possible to tell everyone what I learned though…

“There’s no way you will just use me as a free pass and end it with that, right?” (Janet)

Her glare strengthens.

“O-Of course no.” (Makoto)

“Good.” (Janet)

She nodded repeatedly.

You are scary, Janet-san.

She is a different scary from Gera-san.

“Now, let’s go.” (Janet)

“Okay~.” (Makoto)

Janet-san pulled me by the arm, and was brought to an expensive-looking restaurant.

The place I was brought to must be a regular for the Valentine household, when they saw the face of Janet-san, we were given the best table.

“Please wait for a moment”, is what Janet-san said as she went deeper in.

What is it?

“Sorry for the wait.” (Janet)

Janet-san had returned…and had changed into a dress for nobles.

Why does she have a change of clothes…?

Did she prepare it?

I left the menu to Janet-san while being nervous, and waited for the dishes to come.

Janet-san, who was looking over here with a smile on her face, was the very picture of a young lady from a prosperous family.

And that’s exactly how it is.

“Hey, Takatsuki Makoto…” (Janet)

“W-What is it?” (Makoto)

Janet-san had her chin resting on her hand and was directing an impish smile at me.

It is different from her usual straight and serious female knight side, and it made my heart skip a beat.

“I have decided from way before that if I am to marry someone, it has to be someone stronger than Nii-san.” (Janet)

“…The candidates are way too few.” (Makoto)

The brother of Janet-san, Geralt Valentine, is ranked 3rd in the continent.

The 2nd is Hero Olga, and 1st is Sakurai-kun.

If we were to leave out the Heroes, the strong ones would be the Great Sage-sama and the Crimson Witch Rosalie-san…all women.

The women in this world are strong.

“Then there’s no other one than Sakurai-kun.” (Makoto)

When I said this, Janet-san warped her face in displeasure.

“Don’t be stupid. He is the man that stole Noel-neesama from Nii-san, you know? …Moreover, I don’t want to have the same husband as Noel-neesama.” (Janet)

“…My bad.” (Makoto)

I lacked tact.

I have heard that Princess Noel and her were close like sisters, but they have been estranged as of late.

It is a bit sad.

“Normally, I would be at an age where it would be natural for me to have a fiance though…” (Janet)

Janet-san muttered this slightly sullen.

It seems she hasn’t had anyone because of her high standards, but the pressure of her parents is apparently strong.

…It sounds like a story I have heard in my world too.

“Fufu, there’s people who have been ridiculing me behind my back, calling me ‘the expired knight’…” (Janet)

“T-There’s fearsome people out there, huh…” (Makoto)

I am surprised they can even say that to the young lady of the Five Sacred Nobles.

“Well, that’s from the Pegasus Knights of the Second Division though.” (Janet)

Janet-san is the captain of the first division.

Pegasus Knights are required to have a light weight, so it turned into them being all women by nature.

The first and second division are apparently in a rival relationship and don’t get along.

A workplace of solely women…is scary.

While I was silently trembling in fear, Janet-san said ‘By the way…’ in a cheerful tone as if trying to change the mood.

“There’s a man in front of me who defeated my brother, you know.” (Janet)

Janet-san looks over here with a steamy look.

T-This is…

“That was an unofficial match, and…he didn’t have his holy sword, so it doesn’t count, right?” (Makoto)

“It is okay. Even if it wasn’t official, you won against my brother. My brother, who doesn’t have holding back in his dictionary.” (Janet)

“…Shouldn’t it be better to add it?” (Makoto)

I was beaten up real bad at first after all.

Gera-san is way too much of a battle junkie.

“Takatsuki Makoto.” (Janet)

“Yes?” (Makoto)

Janet-san called my name with a straight expression.

“I have taken a liking to you. Be my husband.” (Janet)

“…Wa?” (Makoto)

A sudden marriage proposal.

    1. >from the way she talk boldly to makoto and regarding noah.
More importantly than that, she was going to call one of the goddesses Nee-san

    2. Perhaps Makoto already noticed. I was thinking he should have called her Ira-sama instead of Esther-sama back then. Tho if it was actually Ira who made a goddess descent, wonder how can she hide the almighty aura? When Eir descended, Makoto clearly knew the difference in aura between Eir and Sophia after all~ 🤔

      1. By placing her aura in a puppet that won’t listen to anyone but her? Alex is there. Makoto also never met Esther before, so differentiating the aura of someone flirting with you and am unknown is forgiveable.

    3. Esther is 100% Ira. and she’s probably given her hero some divinity as well since it was the same description as when makoto had the divine barrier.

  1. “Yeah. Moreover, Eir-neesa—Eir-sama is watching over Noah in the Deep Sea Temple. If there’s any suspicious moves from her, she will be able to tell immediately.” (Esther)
Okay, she is definitely Ira. At the very least, she is someone that you can reason with. However, she seems to have an unusual hatred for the Moon Oracle. Did the Calamity Witch do something to her or to her Oracle in the past ?

Ira seems to be rather clumpsy to make a mistake like almost saying “Eir-neesama” for someone who seems to scheme a lot. I wonder if she is the type to handle the second or third most important thing easily, but messes up the most important thing (like Rin Tohsaka of Fate series). Will she be okay if she makes serious mistakes like that ? However, she seems to be a better person that Eir in terms of personality. Her public personality is someone who is very excited (she is the one who wrote the skill description on the Soul Book of Makoto).

“About that, in the latter half, it even felt as if you were pretty close to each other -you and Esther-sama.” (Janet)
I think it is a flag. Moreover, their conversation reminds me of the interaction between Noah and Makoto. Will she be added to his harem ?

So Janet confessed to Makoto, huh. Will he accept or reject her ?

    1. That’s also what i thought of. Ira-sama seems to be just messing around with Makoto and no bad intents towards him. As for the future sight, i wonder if there would be a Traitor from one of Makoto’s classmate.

I mean, the one that Noah-sama said that they’re dead, what are the chances that they are actually taken by Snake Church and made them as a powerhouse, since they said otherworlder people is mostly stronger than that of the normal people there. They might also do some ritual to further enhance their power.

Well, just my thought that won’t accept someone we know all this time would betray humanity there and stabbed Sakurai-dono Lel

  2. Thank you for the chapter.
I guess it is pretty obvious who this “oracle” really is. Now I’m just wondering if Ira can see Makoto’s fate?

    1. When Ira said that the reason Makoto couldn’t have been the one stabbing Sakurai because he’s too weak, it implies that he could have been the one she couldn’t see, as in Ira can’t see Makoto’s fate

  3. Thanks for the chapter. It seems Esther is most likely hosting Ira and it’s actually the Goddess herself speaking all along. Ira said she cannot see who was stabbing Sakurai in her vision, which led her to suspect Furiae, but isn’t the Demon Lord Iblis a candidate as well? If I recall correctly, it was mentioned that he was a being that originated from a different world as well, so he should be exempt from this world’s fate like Naia.

      1. Ira should be unable to see past Typhon’s interference as well. Otherwise, she would have warned the other Gods about the Snake Church’s plots. While she could be a traitor, I don’t find it likely. Ira should be well aware that the demons would stab her in the back once they were done with her, just like how they didn’t intend to keep their promises to Noah.

    1. That or the Snake church have their god Typhon hide the identity of someone. There is precedent that they can have Typhon obscure the vision of the Goddess.

    2. With prior knowledge that she can’t see certain things it’s a bit of a plot hole that she only suspects Furiae. My guess is Ira is a traitor.

      1. I think there’s also mention of some semi-rivalry between the Moon goddess and Destiny goddess cause the Moon goddess is seen as more beautiful?

Also, seems that the Destiny goddess doesn’t seem to have the same powers as the Moon goddess since Furiae is able to see a persons destiny lines? But, she can’t see Makoto’s. I wonder if the Moon goddess is able to see that or not see that.

      2. Could be, but I don’t think that’s likely. Like I said above, Ira should be well aware that the demons will probably go back on whatever promises they would have made to her once they are done. My theory is she’s purposely accusing Furiae in order to draw out people like the pope and the Highland Prince, who would put their grudges and predjudices above the common goal of defeating the demons, and have them take action against the heroes so that they can be dealt with early and not cause trouble during the upocming war.

  4. It’s November 19! You know what happens!

    PADORU-PADORU-PADORU-PADORU

  5. That was direct but, very nice!

Leaving aside that, yeah, Esther is without doubt Ira herself, of she is in the mortal plain is unknow, could be in a constant state of possession but in that case is a mystery how she can hide his power, other option is that she reincarnet as a human but this is not indian mythology so I can’t really see that possibility. She seems like a good opinion of Makoto, maybe Makoto have some kind of trait that make the gods (at least goddess) hold good feelings for her?

    1. I suspect she is hiding her divinity by siphoning it off into Alex, explains how he listens to her and his spaced out expression. Don’t think Althena will be too happy

      1. Hmm, that’s actually a good theory, would still be a bit lacking considering that Makoto say that it was inferior to the level of Noah and Eris, I think he say it was even inferior of the gigant. Maybe the rest of his power was concealed with other things? Or could be that she descended in a weaked state on purpose so that the remain of his power could be hide? Though I honestly think that even with that Athena should know the situation.

        1. Good point about the lower divinity level. Perhaps she has another pseudo divine hero squirreled away somewhere. I thought giving any human anything other than Divine protection was a big no no, that includes divinity. Eir got very angry at Noah for doing so. And supposdly Althena is a stickler for the rules… but again as Ira isn’t even TRYING to hide the divinity in Alex and Alex is in the Sun country it dodes make me think Althena has to know. It just doesn’t track with her supposed personality but hey

      2. That theory is plausible. However, she could conceal her divinity by other means as well. Putting her divinity into humans is forbidden and I don’t think Ira would take such a great risk if it means upset Althena (she is a Goddess who is very strict on rules after all). In the previous chapter, I mentioned a theory that Alex could be a Demigod or descendant of a Holy God, so it would explain his divinity, his mana comparable to Gods, and the fact that Spirits dissapear at his presence.

Moreover, there are a lot of references to Greek mythology in this novel. Like @alkaid1000 said, the name Alexander is a probably a reference to Alexander the Great. There are actually legends about Alexander the Great being the son of Zeus. If the author chooses his name because of that legend, it would be very interesting. However, that theory doesn’t explain why Alex acts like a puppet without will. In any case, what Ira is doing is strictly forbidden and she could be punished severely for it.
        https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Alexander_the_Great_in_legend

        1. I did not know about that legend of Alexander the Great, certainly interesting and if WM Alex is indeed a demigod or descended from a God it may make him a fitting receptacle for divine power which could be a loop hole Ira would be wanting to use to circumvent Althena’s anger (she hasn’t given divinity to a mortal but a demigod/descendent of a god).

Guess we shall find out in upcoming chapters. At least I hope we will.

Oh! A side theory, If Ira hasn’t put divinity into Alex could she have charmed Alex into oblivion? Wait… if he had divinity/some connection to Gods and Goddesses wouldn’t he have some resistence to God like charm?

    1. Claim ignorance and be dominated in the end anyways due to his weak will to displease his friends and loved ones.

  6. Haaah, the clues from the previous chapter are confirmed. The identity of Esther/Ira is confirmed. The question is though… does Althena know? I am guessing that Althena doesn’t as what Ira is doing is perilously close to directly interfering with the mortal realm. Perhaps why she put divinity into Alex (likely firstly to give a strong weapon to combat the Ddemons and also as a disguise so that she can remain in Esther without other people getting suspicious).

As for the vision of the future, I have to question it. Afterall did she ever see the issues facing the other countries? If she had, surely she would have acted to change them, right? Or is she supposedly able to see they would be resolved thanks to Takki-dono… I kind of find that hard to believe but that could just be me. Further more the whole expectation that Fu-chan will attack Sakurai is, well it is dependent upon her being present at the battle right or well near him. It would suffice for her to be located completely elsewhere without the need for being locked up, I believe she is allowing personal hatred to drive her.

Also is anyone else somewhat suspicious of her motives for revealing Takki-dono’s affiliation? I mean what does it achieve? Was it meant to undermine him or was it meant to strengthen his support (which is what has happened, people know his affiliation but still support him). Doesn’t revealing his affiliation mean that when he achieves great feats, those feats will also be attributed to another Goddess by proxy of her Apostle? I get the feeling she doesn’ respect or think much of Takki-dono which in turn makes me think she isn’t fully aware of what he has done or can do. Afterall she isn’t omniscient. She didn’t know Eir has stopped visiting Noah-kamisama in the deep sea temple.

Maybe these are just some random ramblings of a half sleep deprived fool but I think she is underestimating Takki-dono.

    On a differnet note…

Ooooh boy we have new harem candidate gunning for Takki-dono full throttle! Personally I am tenetavily curious about Janet and would like to see how she interacts with the other ladies first. Will they potentially become friends or remain antagonistic? Any antagonistic elements are a no go!

  7. Thanks!
    \(^^)/

Huh, it could be possible that Ira is in a state of constant Descent or just for the time being. Her mana is being somehow concealed it seems since when Eir descended Leo was able to detect it.

    [RPG Player Skill]
    Will you marry Janet?
    >Yes
    No

    1. Given how snarky and stuff RPG Player has been recently I wouldn’t be surprised if the options are between “Yes” and “Yes”.

  8. Thanks for the chapter!

After this chapter, why do i feels like that the Destiny Oracle is simply is just a Kuudere. Therefore she didn’t have any intention to hurts Makoto, only that she didn’t have anything to do with him, yet. Well, i can only hope that she would change to a better persona next time.

Oh man, Makoto. The sister of that stubborn Hero has locked her eyes in you. She definitely won’t give up easily on you. ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)

      1. He is in no way dense.

He pretty much suspected that all the girls liked him before they confessed. Including Janet. He just didn’t want it to be true because it’s inconvenient.

  9. Thank you for the chapter.

A woman friend told me about the first lab she worked it. After the lone male left, it became what she dubbed the Estrogen Empire. It was ugly enough that she left her post-doctorate program.

  10. Thanks for the chapter!!!
    HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA
    SHE CONFESSED LOL
    anyways
Guy using sword I don’t think it is Makoto. Iirc nobody can see his fate, even the goddesses I think.
And how would Esther or should I say ummm…Destiny-Goddess Ira react to her not being able to see Makoto’s fate

  11. I guess Esther is either Ira in human form or is being possessed by Ira. She made the mistake of calling Eir as ‘Eir-neesa-‘ when a human would not call a goddess as sister.

Well regardless of the details between Esther and Ira, it’s clear they’re idiots. Just because she can’t see who stabs Sakurai she automatically assumes it’s Furiae. There are others who also wouldn’t be seen. Makoto is outside of Destiny and yet he is dismissed as a suspect because of his low stats yet Esther should know that his stats mean nothing because regardless of them he’s single-handedly killed a Demon Lord, killed an Ancient Dragon, killed one of the confidants of Bifrons, killed multiple Taboo Monsters, defeated thousands of Ancient Monsters and stopped a fucking comet with one hand. Plus as Noah’s Apostle, Ira should know he has access to a God Killing dagger that could easily stab a person regardless of Makoto’s stats. Then besides Makoto, anybody related to the Snake Church could also be a suspect since Typhon and the other evil gods are also from outside this world and thus would meet the requirements of being invisible to Destiny too. Same with Iblis once they resurrect. If anything Ira and Esther should be the most suspicious of the Snake Church because they were never able to predict the danger to Great Keith which can only mean that they can be invisible to Destiny.

Also technically any of Makoto’s class are also from outside and thus would probably also meet the requirements.

Even if it really turns out that Furi stabs Sakurai, there is no secondary information that could explain the circumstances. For all they know Furi stabbing Sakurai is to give him some power boost or maybe a ploy to trick the enemy.

Eh why is Makoto surprised that Janet confessed to him? She made it clear last time that her father wanted her to try to get close to Makoto and as she was heading back to Highland she told Makoto that she was going to agree to marriage and was heading back specifically to get permission from and inform her father.

    1. Ira seems to be rather biased and obsessed when it comes to Furiae. Ira actually showed an expression of hatred to Furiae, so I would assume the Calamity Witch did something that displeased her.
For Makoto’s classmates, it was mentioned that Holy Gods can watch the movements of their believers. They are probably converted to the Holy Gods. Also, I don’t think simply being from another world is enough to be invisible to the Future Vision of a Goddess. There are probably other conditions like being the believer of Gods other than the Holy Gods (chapter 88).

      1. Yeah that’s what I’m thinking. Ira/Esther had her vision, saw that the identity of the stabber couldn’t be seen and due to her own biases she immediately decided it meant it had to be Furi without even thinking of any other possibilities.

Oh OK so if it’s like that then I guess that Makoto’s classmates aren’t likely to be the perpetrator. Though there’s always the possibility that one of them has joined the Snake Church such as one of the ones that Noah said have disappeared in a dungeon and are presumed dead or there could be another that reincarnated like Sa-san.

Hmm… I wonder if Lucy could also count since she’s part devil whose father is a lord of Hell which is a different world and she has the divine protection of a titan?

Well honestly it makes more sense that the stabber would be from the Snake Church since they believe in Typhon and other gods that aren’t from this world and we’ve seen that they can keep their plans invisible from even the future visions of Ira like what happened in Great Keith. The fact that Furi could have a vision of the disaster is probably because her Goddess is also from a different world.

    2. She explicitly saw Sakurai pierced by a sword. Makoto’s dagger is not a sword. I’m sure she can tell the difference between a sword and a dagger.

It’s true that Furiae isn’t the only suspect but confining Furiae just in case reduces the risk and is easy to do.

      1. Simple just wrap the dagger in magic or something and now it’s a sword.

They don’t even need to confine her. All that they would need to do is keep her away from any battlefield that Sakurai goes to. The only reason that Ira/Esther seems to want Furi imprisoned is out of malice. Just look how she smiled when she said she wanted her imprisoned. Plus we know that Furi would be mistreated while imprisoned because people hate the Moon Oracle. Ira/Esther seems to hate Naia and her Oracle for some reason and I won’t be surprised if it’s for something petty like Naia is prettier or a better Goddess at seeing the future so Ira decides to take it out on Furi who’s her Oracle. This whole vision of Sakurai being stabbed by somebody who Ira can’t identify is just her letting her own bias influence her to immediately say that Furi has to be the culprit. Remember that the Holy Gods seem to be mostly based on the Greek Gods and those guys were all major dicks who’d punish people for the smallest reason so I could see Ira following that same template. Even Eir and Noah said she had a horrible personality.

  12. Wow! So unexpected, I’m extremely surprised!
Takatsuki Makoto, you really are one hell of a dense bastard.
    Thanks for the chapter

  13. Seems like the conjecture of ira having descended into her oracle were right. The mind reading as well as the familiarity with the other Godesses were pretty clear hints.

Also, what is Makoto getting surprised about? I thought Janet’s intentions had been stated clearly to him before, even in the wood country. And after already having thoroughly excluded everything other than him as a husband candidate, the marriage proposal isn’t exactly “sudden”. Makoto, your deduction skills are really lacking.

    1. Maybe she actually just gave him divinity like Noah did to Makoto, just that she could do it thoroughly.

After all, not interfering too much seems to have been a rule made up amongst the Gods, so when they’re getting into a desparate situation such as the light hero being predicted to fall, they might break those rules.

  14. If Ira can’t see beings from other worlds, doesn’t that also count for all of Makoto’s classmates as well as the Great Demon Lord with his subordinates?

The whole problematic thing about the Great Demon Lord had been that he was from a higher world and can convert others to beings from that higher world by resurrecting them, so following that logic, all the narrowing down Ira has done is that “it was an enemy or an otherworldler ally or someone related to the moon Goddess who will potentially kill Sakurai”, which basically doesn’t say anything.

Am I misunderstanding something? Or is this just one of these moments where everyone ignores something obvious until someone notices it and it’s treated as a genius idea?

    1. I’m thinking this is just Ira’s own personal bias against Naia and her Oracle that made her draw the conclusion that Furi is the one who will stab Sakurai.

  15. > Hahahahaha, I cant help it but laugh the Janet-san sudden aggresive proposal.
If that was me, in front of her, a very beautiful girl, YES would be naturally answer to her…
Its not as romantic as you think, but as a man, i think you will feel more handsome than others would…

    > Ira might be possessing Esther.
The Hero alex might be a Titan prisoner, or enslaved by Holy Gods, and borrowed by Ira, and introduced by Esther. That explain the Divine Aura to hero Alex…

As I thought, Esther/Ira was spankable girl, Makoto needs to spank her hard because of dere she was

  16. >“…By the way, what are the chances of me being the culprit?” (Makoto)
Considering the foreshadowings about Makoto we already have, 99%?

  17. I wonder how true Ira’s predictions are. If Furie is unable to see Makoto’s future, how different is Ira.

Makoto is practically the wild card that the goddesses didn’t expect.

    1. I think neither can see Takki’s future, but the rationale is:

Even though I can’t see who, there are only two people who could evade my future sight.
      1. Furiae, the Moon Oracle, because the Moon Goddess isn’t part of this world.
      2. Takatsuki Makoto, for some reason. Probably because he’s the Evil God Apostle. (Actually because RPG Player makes him also not a part of this world.)

Since Takki is weak and friends with Sakurai while Furiae has a romance with him, she has the stronger motive and means.

  18. Thanks for the chapter!

How do I say this… It’s just a feeling, but the way Alex acts reminds me of the souls sacrificed to the Goddesses, some of those souls end up deranged… So maybe Alex is one of those, maybe even Noah’s previous apostle…

  19. Also did it occur to them that the light being stabbed is all due his many lovers, may it be a yandere lover or jealous ex of his lovers (*ahemGeralt*ahem*)

  20. ok why the f ck is there another marrage apposal when there is literlay no romance in this dam wn. im starting to get tired of this beta male mc that cant grow a pair and why does the mc do really stupid things all the time. i thought hes so post to overthrow the gods but he bluntly admits it im dont with this pussy bitch mc

  21. Straight ball huh, at least shes made sure her point got across so Makoto can’t brush it off. If the only clue Ira has is that she can’t see the killer due to them being an otherworlder then aren’t the rest of his classmates potential candidates? We’ve already seen that the snake church is manipulative and isn’t it a common trope for the enemy to entice an ally to betray the protagonist?

    1. Nothing to do with being an otherworlder. For example, Furi can see Sakurai’s threads of fate, even though he is an otherworlder, but not Makoto’s. I think this is because the otherworlders are now part of this new world. However, due to the Moon goddess being a goddess from another world, and thus not part of it, and Makoto’s RPG Player, they see the world from an outsider’s perspective, and so can change fate and can’t be predicted

  22. I feel like the harem is already at full capacity already, but I do appreciate Janet’s straightball that not even Takatsuki can miss. The only thing left out is her actually saying she’s attracted to him.

Hmm…I guess Esther-or rather, Ira-is taking this seriously without particular schemes. That was a rather tactless approach though. Logically speaking, it’s normal to think it would be Furiae instead of Takki, but it’s almost certainly Takki the one that’ll be doing the deed. ….Why though?

Well, if it were me in this situation, I would probably try to cheat the prophecy by fulfilling it in a controlled environment. Like…go meet up with Sakurai, prepare healers ahead of time, and stab him with a sword together with Furiae.

I would also try to cast some bait to trick Ira into exposing herself. Something like:
“Ah…now that you mention it, you told Eir that our chance of success was 30%, right?”
“I said it was 10% you idiot apostle.”
    “My bad, Ira-sama.”
Egoists who take any chance to look down on people are weak to traps like that.

    1. Maybe Janet-san at first thought “I can’t accept that such a weak guy defeated Nii-san”. Then as time goes by, news about Makoto went insane got to her, like “Did he really faced the Ancient Dragon with only a dagger? He slain the Demon Lord alone? (This one there’s even higher chance that Janet-san saw it herself)” That made her thought “Okay maybe Makoto is stronger than my Nii-san after all.”

Well, this really sounds like your typical Isekai where, *cough*
*MC shows how OP he is*
Any other Female side character : Impregnate me

But yeah, it’s a world where combat ability is where you can get famous after all. Just like this world where money is what makes you famous

That trick might would work, since destiny magic didn’t work on Makoto that makes Ira-sama can’t predict what he would say. But if she could read mind then that won’t go as well i think

      1. They did show Janet was starting to get attracted to him. First she was angry that somebody as seemingly weak as Makoto beat her brother who she looks up to. Then she started acting nicer to him once she saw Makoto create that water giant in Symphonia to beat the thousands of Ancient Monsters. Then she meets him again in Makkaren and tells Makoto that her father wants her to try to get closer to him and that she doesn’t really mind because he’s strong before she then witnesses Makoto use fire magic to kill tens of thousands of monsters before singlehandedly rushing into battle against an Ancient Dragon that was a confidant of the Demon Lord Astaroth and managing to kill him. Finally she meets him again at Spring Log were they spend time alone together that Janet seemed to treat as dates and Makoto saved her on both occasions. First against the vampire Shuri and then when they went to go investigate the forest they got attacked by Zagan’s confidant and Makoto protected her in the initial ambush while Rosalie then showed up to fight the enemy. Then she did witness Makoto defeating Bifrons. Afterwards she had to return to Highland but before she left she explicitly told Makoto that she’s going to ask her father for permission to marry him and that he should prepare himself.

  23. thanks for chap
uwaah an entire order of knights of women huh, and they are supposed to follow light hero in the battle, mega harem? Also makes me wonder if amazons are there in this novel like greek mythology. Why is she one of the holy goddesses if she is an outsider with unknown motives?

Adds even more credibility to my prev theory that mc was there 1000 years ago and is mostly savior Abel, perhaps thats why this destiny goddess(Its beyond proven rn that the ira has descended in esther). seems to be close to him despite first meeting and able to banter with him so normally, especially if he previously already explained terms from his previous world to them beforehand.
Isn’t alex the puppet most sus for the sword stab?

  24. I wonder this, and it may be relevant. Consider that not all their classmates where there in the Water Temple. At least one (only one?) somehow ended up being reincarnated as a monster. So… I’m guessing there will be missing classmates that became Demons too. If they’re worshiping Demon Gods, the Goddesses can’t easily monitor them (just like the Snake Church).

Any one of them holding a sword – presumably being strong enough to actually harm the light hero – could do it. Maybe there is a “dark hero” out there? Or even him dropping his guard upon meeting a missing classmate could also result in him getting stabbed – even if they where not quite as strong.

    1. All i knew was Noah is an Old God or Titan God so the temples dont teach people about what kinda gods the Old Gods were.. and since books of before 1000 years ago were probably all destroyed by the demons who ruled over before Savior Abel came, high possibility that no records were left behind, And if there were, the new God’s apostles and temples would have already taken care of them

      1. If i remember correctly, a bit way back in the chapter, someone mentioned that in the illustration, Noah’s symbol has wolf (or maybe wolves, idk) in it so i guess it has something to do with the night or non-human things

  25. It’s obvious Eshter is Ira-sama but can she really can do that? Isn’t goddess can’t interfere with human world? There’s must be a repercussion for this. And if Sakurai will really get killed, Makoto the ones that didn’t bind by destiny will save him.

    1. Well, it’s not like she interfere with the world directly. Like, she didn’t use her god magic or that kind to change the fate of human. She’s basically giving the humans oracle directly and not by her oracle if that’s the case

  26. So basically the Destiny goddess is blatantly slandering the Moon oracle because there are plenty of other possibilities and she hates the Moon goddess since she can also read the future in addition to being a master of curse magic. Looks like the Destiny goddess feels like the most popular girl in school who had her crown stolen by a transfer student so now she is spreading weird rumors to get back at her. Pathetic… I get what Makoto is doing and it is fine but he should at least make it clear that he thinks she is a little b!tch and not just suck up to her.

  27. Thanks for the chapter.
Finally a girl with the good strategy to get Makoto :
    All-Out Attack !
Because he really have hard time to say no to pretty girl !
Let alone pretty girl he know and or like.

  28. 3 Tips before proposing marriage towards Makoto:
    1. Be strong-willed and direct as the subject is stupid and dense.
    2. Ensure that the other harem members have given their approval.
    3. Throw away one’s common sense as it does not apply towards the Makoto.

  29. Thanks for the chapter~!

It’s here, and we’re already 100% sure that Esther is Ira herself, the only question left about identity is probably who Alex is.

The way Ira slipped there seems like she exudes cute but hopeless damegami aura.

Also wow Makoto, you got a straightball from Janet there.

  30. Noooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo~!!! I REACHED THE END OF RELEASES!? The darkness will now come for me 😅.

  31. I have to say. Having the light hero go down would not be unpleasant.

On another note, I hope Janet’s advances go well…

  32. Grammar corrections.

    “O-Of course [not].” (Makoto)

Janet-san pulled me by the arm, and brought [us] to an expensive-looking restaurant.

  33. Please don’t tell me that Janet will become a harem member. She has exactly 0 personality and 0 development. Please spoil me in this, and for anyone reading this comment who doesn’t want to get spoiled, don’t look at replies. I will not continue this series if this happens.

  34. Nobody’s fooled anymore this side of the fourth wall. That’s Ira, which explains her animosity. It’s been mentioned before that Noah and Ira are on bad terms. She also seem to know too much about the happenings that only the goddesses (and Makoto) should know, like Eir constantly visiting Noah in the Undersea Temple.
