WM – Chapter 168: Takatsuki Makoto uses his secret plan

TLN: Hey guys, Reigokai here!

It seems I made a mistake and translated comet as meteor in the previous chapter. I actually knew it was a comet, but thought that a comet entering the atmosphere and down to the planet was called a meteor. Looks like that’s not the case?

Not really sure about the specifics, but if someone can enlighten me a bit, I would welcome it.

Anyways, enjoy the chapter!

◇General Tariska’s POV◇

The meteor drop of the Snake Church.

A crisis that might eradicate the Fire Country’s capital which has been unheard of in more than a hundred years is approaching.

(…I underestimated the enemy, huh.)

No matter what army of enemies comes, no matter how many monsters push forward, the defense of the capital was supposed to be perfect.

But to think they would come up with this method.

We have no preparations against calamities that come from space.

The royalty and nobles are in the middle of using teleport magic to evacuate.

They will eventually escape to a safe place.

However, there’s several tens of thousands of people living in Gamuran.

People with rides and people who can use magic can most likely escape in a short amount of time.

But what about the regular citizens that have no other method aside from their own legs?

Just how many deaths will be brought from this…? Just imagining it made me grind my teeth.

“Is there no plan? Can’t we gather all the High ranked mages and above to blow up that huge rock?!” (Tariska)

My tone grew harsher unintentionally.

We are already doing that! Monarch, Superior, and High ranked mages are all doing that!”

“Results?” (Tariska)

“…Can’t confirm.”

Figures. My eyes can’t see a change either.

“What about the magic armament? We have the siege weapons and the anti-monster ones, right?” (Tariska)

“They are all out of their effective range… They are ready to shoot, but we need it to be closer.”

There’s no point in that.

Even if we were to manage the destruction of that huge rock in the sky when it is right at the doorstep of the capital, the broken pieces would all rain down at the capital and destroy it.

When I was feeling like holding my head in pain, one of my subordinates had come.

“General, the Water Country’s Hero is here. He said he wanted to talk with you.”

“…What?” (Tariska)

When I move my gaze, I see a thin young man looking at the state of my army curiously.

The Rozes Hero, Takatsuki Makoto.

The person who was evaluated the lowest within the people that were transferred to this world with the Light Hero two years ago.

All countries decided that they didn’t need him and didn’t take him in.

Of course, this was reported to Great Keith as well, and I checked his ability.

His Status was the lowest, and his Skills weren’t eye-catching.

He wasn’t someone that could fight the army of the Great Demon Lord that will be reviving.

Of course, we didn’t accept him.

And then, after more than 1 year passed, his name suddenly spread as the Country Designated Hero of Rozes.

But there were few who were interested in Takatsuki Makoto at that time.

In the end, he was just a Hero of a weak country like Rozes.

He is most likely not a big deal, is what people thought.

After that, he won against the Lightning Hero Geralt in a sudden match at the Sun Country; fought back the monsters attacking the capital of Symphonia; defeated an Ancient Dragon in the Water Country; and defeated a Demon Lord in the Wood Country.

1,000 years ago, the Water Hero was the first one to die in the Great Demon Lord battle.

There are rumors that the Water Goddess Eir-sama poured her love into him in order to cut away that stigma.

His fame is currently rivaling that of the Savior’s reincarnation, the Light Hero.

Maybe she didn’t find that amusing.

My daughter Olga and her childhood friend Dahlia conspired together and provoked the Water Country’s Hero.

She employed her power as the Fire Hero.

And it seems like the Fire Oracle Dahlia spread bad rumors about the Water Country’s Hero by using the church people.

I told the two to not do it, but they didn’t listen to me at all.

On top of that, Olga suffered a crushing defeat against the comrade of the Water Country’s Hero.

The Country Designated Hero of Great Keith is the subordinate of the Water Country’s Hero.

From now on, our relationship with the Water Country will become a complicated one.

But right now that’s not what’s important.

I walk close to where Takatsuki Makoto is.

I directed my gaze at him, and pushed the conversation.

“General, is it okay for us to do something about that thing in the sky?” (Makoto)

The aforementioned Hero Makoto said nonchalantly.

In this place where the people around are desperately trying to do something about this crisis, his calm expression was extremely out-of-place.

He is apparently the holder of Clear Mind, but is that all there is to it?

Does he not feel fear?

“…Do you have some sort of plan?” (Tariska)

I asked with short words.

“That’s a trade secret. There’s a spell I want to test out.” (Makoto)

He responded suggestively.

Words I didn’t understand well. Is that an otherworlder term?

It looks like he has a plan, but he has no intention of telling me the details.

The techniques of Heroes are national secrets.

Of course he wouldn’t just divulge them easily.

“Haha! What are you saying, Water Country’s Hero?! That thing can’t be stopped anymore!”

The Snake Church member -the man calling himself Archbishop Isaac- shouted loudly.

But the result of the interrogation was that he didn’t know anything. He was just a fanatic that is being controlled by Archbishop Isaac.

He was silent until a while ago, but the moment Takatsuki Makoto arrived, he got talkative.

“Listen here! That comet wasn’t created from magic! This giant comet that passes by around once a year, we simply redirected its course by force with summoning magic! By using the lifespan of several hundreds of slaves! If you want to achieve the same thing, you would need to offer the lifespan of several hundreds, and a chant of several hours! But the comet will be crashing in due time! You won’t make it in time! It is the end! The end for all of you! Hahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha!!”

The fanatic laughs in a crazed manner at what I fail to find funny.

“Shut him up.” (Tariska)

I ordered my men, and they put a rope around his mouth.

“What an amusing guy he is every time.” (Makoto)

The Water Country’s Hero scratched his cheek as if amazed.

“Lu-chan, why does he go through the trouble of explaining to us? Does he not have anything better to do?” (Aya)

“It must be that his personality is warped. Controlling his subordinates like puppets, and the person himself hiding in the shadows. He must be one ugly bastard!” (Lucy)

The female members of Takatsuki Makoto were having a carefree talk.

But I agree mostly with what they say.

“Hero-dono, it looks like you have a plan that might succeed…? Could it be that it relies on that Sasaki Aya-dono there who defeated my daughter?” (Tariska)

I asked blindly.

The ability that she showed in the fight just before.

It was fearsome.

To think that she would be able to shut up Olga who is the second ranker in one hit.

“About that, it seems like Sa-san is exhausted from the fight of before…” (Makoto)

Takatsuki Makoto denies it softly.

“Eh?! I am still full of energy thou—” (Aya)

“Oi.” (Makoto)

“Mgh?!” (Aya)

For some reason, Takatsuki Makoto hurriedly covered the mouth of Sasaki Aya who interrupted him.

Even in my eyes, she doesn’t seem to be tired.

He probably has a reason as to why he doesn’t want her to fight.

Could it be that the use of her Skill had some sort of price?

“Sa-san! Just rest already!” (Makoto)

“Aya, come here.” (Lucy)

Sasaki Aya was dragged away by her red haired elf comrade.

Well, it is not like I want to force her to do anything.

“Then, does that mean you have another method?” (Tariska)

“Yeah, I do have an idea in mind.” (Makoto)

I could see confidence and leisure in the eyes of Takatsuki Makoto.

I see, then there’s no reason to say no.

“Well then, I will leave it to you. Oi, guide the Hero-dono.” (Tariska)

I ordered the Enforcement Knight that brought Takatsuki Makoto here to guide him.

If it is him, he should be able to help the Hero-dono out while gathering information.

He was the man that managed to do his job as the Country Designated Hero in the past after all.

“Well then, I will guide you to the place where the mages of the army are. Over here, please.”

The Water Country’s Hero Makoto, his red haired mage comrade, and the female warrior that won the tournament left.

His two comrades were going along slightly uneasily.

But the Hero himself was walking as if he were having a nice walk outside.

(It is as the reports said…) (Tariska)

He is the type to thrust his head into dangerous places on his own.

It is what was written in the investigation report from a subordinate of mine.

“The Water Country’s Hero, Takatsuki Makoto, lacks a sense of danger.”

“It was said that he faced an Ancient Dragon with just a dagger. The adventurers of Makkaren were amazed.”

“It seems he faced the Demon Lord in the Wood Country alone. I can’t think of him as a sane man.”

Those were the words of my subordinate when he returned from his investigation.

That he is not a sane man.

A Hero is an important fighting force of the country, so in a battle against a Demon Lord, they must be protected heavily.

But the Water Country’s Hero rushes into the battlefield on his own.

Just like the Legendary Savior, Abel.

1,000 years ago.

The Hero Abel of the long past that raided the Demon Continent where the Great Demon Lord was waiting.

According to the legends, Hero Abel tried to face the Great Demon Lord alone in order to not create a single sacrifice.

The Great Sage-sama of that time, the Holy Maiden Anna-sama, and the magic archer Johnny-sama convinced him otherwise, and that’s how their party of four was formed.

In the current times, a Hero facing a Demon Lord with just a few comrades would be unthinkable.

Even my daughter Olga has a special force of more than hundreds made up of warriors and mages above High Rank.

The unit made up of the best of the Fire Country to face the Northern Expedition in the near future.

I once again follow with my eyes the Water Country’s Hero that looks as if he is heading out for a walk with his two comrades.

In the sky there’s the huge rock that’s forming a giant shadow over the capital and approaching us.

There’s still no sight of a plan to break through this crisis.

(…Let’s have hope…in the power of the Hero that saved both Rozes and Spring Log.) (Tariska)

◇Takatsuki Makoto’s POV◇

“It is here. Go ahead.”

The place the Enforcement Knight guided us to was the highest floor of the colosseum.

The mages are standing in line there, shooting magic at the approaching meteor, and using magic tools.

“That looks like a good place.” (Makoto)

I chose the place with the least amount of people, and headed there.

It would be troubling if I were to mistakenly drag them into it.

“Hey, Makoto, what are you planning on doing…?” (Lucy)

Lucy was looking at the sky while asking me nervously with hands on her staff.

Right, I have to properly explain to my comrades.

“Lucy, what is it that’s coming down on us from overhead?” (Makoto)

I said while pointing at the sky.

“Eh? What’s that all of a sudden? You can tell just by looking, right?! A super giant meteor!” (Lucy)

“No, that’s not it. It is not a meteor, but a comet.” (Makoto)

“…What’s the difference?” (Lucy)

I should just speak out the answer without beating around the bush.

“In other words…” (Makoto)

“Got it! The central element of comets: ice and dust! And so, you will do something about it with your water magic, isn’t that right, Takatsuki-kun?!” (Aya)

Sa-san spoiled it for me.

Please don’t steal my spotlight.

“Can something really be done, Hero-dono?!”

The Enforcement Knight listening to our talk reacted heavily.

“W-Well, won’t know unless I try though.” (Makoto)

My magic proficiency is over 250.

A mage that’s specialized enough to shock even the Great Sage-sama.

“S-Splendid!”

Even though I haven’t succeeded yet, he is moved greatly.

Oh well, let’s give it a try then.

I rolled up my sleeves and tried to use water magic on the comet.

(It is impossible, Makoto.) (Noah)

The sudden cold voice was from Noah-sama.

Impossible, you say. Why?

(What’s covering the comet is ice, but the central core is rock. With the size of the comet that’s falling right now, the size of the core is several hundreds of meters. Your water magic won’t be able to block it.) (Noah)

Right, comets do have rocks in their center.

I don’t have much knowledge in astronomy.

(Also, Makoto-kun.) (Eir)

Oya, Eir-sama.

It has been a while.

(Fufu, it has been a while. But listen well. The comet that was summoned is a foreign object that came from outside the planet. That’s why the water magic of Mako-kun won’t work so well with that ice compared to normal ice. If you want to control a comet of that size, you would need an outstanding amount of mana.) (Eir)

Eir-sama told me this as if grieving.

It all won’t go as planned, huh.

“Takatsuki-kun?” (Aya)

“Makoto?” (Lucy)

“Hero-dono…is something the matter?”

Seeing that I suddenly stopped moving, Sa-san, Lucy, and the Enforcement Knight asked me in worry.

“It is okay, it is okay.” (Makoto)

This amount of trouble is within expectations.

Then, we will do that, Noah-sama.

I told the Goddess that I would be doing the secret technique that I told her about before.

(You are serious, aren’t you…Makoto?) (Noah)

(Mako-kun, please, think it over.) (Eir)

The responses of the two weren’t favorable.

But there’s no other way, you know?

((…))

There’s no response.

But there’s no denial either.

Alright, let’s do this then.

“H-Hey, Makoto…the comet is approaching already. I will prepare the teleport just in case.” (Lucy)

“Takatsuki-kun…when it comes to it, I will carry you two and run away, okay?” (Aya)

I ended up worrying my two party members completely.

“It is okay, just watch.” (Makoto)

I finish rolling up the sleeves of my right arm.

And then, I used Transform on my right arm.

…It is hard to control.

I felt like the space around my right arm blurred.

And at the same time, my arm began to shine blue.

“…Makoto, what are you doing?” (Lucy)

“That’s the Transform Skill, right?” (Aya)

“Ah, Part Transformation. Only to your right arm.”

I set Clear Mind to 100% and concentrate.

If I drop my guard even for a bit, I will lose consciousness.

*Bzzt Bzzt*

I heard a buzzing sound in my ears.

Learning that that’s the mana coming out from my body, I trembled from that strange sensation.

The right arm of a Spirit.

It isn’t recorded in any book about magic. I called this spell Kana. <A phonetic character unique to Japanese.>

Transforming one arm into a Spirit.

That’s all this spell is.

However, the Spirits are nature itself.

The small Spirits normally seen around are not one single life form

One yet a thousand.

The Water Spirits are basically the water of all the world itself.

That’s what Noah-sama taught me in the past.

That’s why the mana of Spirits is infinite.

My arm itself slowly changed into a blue light.

Not flesh, but something that’s connected to all the water of this world.

A fragment of mana that’s infinite.

When I think about it, the first monsters I defeated in this world were goblins.

And I used the water of a river closeby to defeat them.

In Laberintos, I borrowed the power of Water Spirits and fought Taboo Dragons.

In the capital of the Water Country, I borrowed the mana of Princess Sofia to defeat a Taboo Giant.

The Great Water Spirit in the Sun Country.

In Makkaren, I synchronized with Lucy to borrow the power of Fire Spirits.

In the Wood Country, I offered my lifespan to Noah-sama to borrow her power.

I have been borrowing the power of someone to achieve something.

But…I want to win something with my own power at least once.

The hint was from the words of the Great Sage-sama.

If you want to be stronger…you have to stop being human’.

“Right, in order to become stronger, I can’t stay a human!” (Makoto)

By the time I noticed, I had shouted unconsciously.

“I just have to become a Spirit myself!” (Makoto)

I said to Sa-san and Lucy with a cool face.

Fuh, nailed it.

“““……””” ※Lucy, Sa-san, and the Enforcement Knight.

((……)) ※Noah-sama and Eir-sama.

Why did everyone fall silent?

      1. He was playing games as he froze to death with the dead bodies of his classmates around him in the bus, I don’t think anyone who saw him then would think he’s sane

  1. Thanks for the chapter!

    (He is apparently the holder of Clear Mind, but is that all there is to it?)
    No, General. He is the holder of mental state called insane.

    Makoto, you turned yourself into a spirit? Now that is big brain move. NO, Makoto! What are you even thinking!?
    Well, that’s just like Makoto. It’s fun to see him like that.
    Turning himself into a spirit so he would have infinite mana. That’s an unthinkable move

    Another cliffhanger ;-; Well, it’s great to see the insanity of Makoto so i guess it’s worth the wait for the next chapter.

    Thanks again!

    1. I want to know the after effect of him transformed into a spirit. Something that connected all the world itself, and him being the viewer of world itself transforming into something that connects the world. The possibility is, terrifying

      1. Can he even control that power in the first place ? Eir said that what he is doing is basically suicide.
        As side-effect, maybe being unable to transform it back to a human arm? That would be very terifying.

      2. I think if most people turned themselves into a spirit it would result in them losing consciousness and only being able to follow directions or maybe if they’re lucky becoming a high spirit. A combination of calm mind stabilizing and him being used to controlling spirits gives a nice bit of insanity and makes him the only one who could pull it off, probably.

        Really looking forward to it with how thorough the author is about how everything in the world works.

  2. The recklessness of Makoto is being compared to Abel. Very interesting. There were people who thought that Makoto went to the past 1000 years ago because of what Bifrons and the Great Sage said. If it is the case, Makoto could have been a comrade of Abel and incluenced him. The Great Sage also mentioned that Abel was very cautious as a hero. Cautious yet reckless, that kind of description reminds me of Makoto.

    It is a Jojo reference ? Makoto, are you Dio or something ? Now his nickname should be Dio-Makoto.

    1. There do seem to be more and more similarities between him and Abel as time passes. Curious.

      It certainly does feel like when there’s a disaster nobody else in the world can handle, people who know him would go “Please bring Takatsuki Makoto!”

  3. ……so his plan is to transform partially into a water spirit in order to use the nearly infinite mana from the spirits to control the ice around the meteor?………that a whole new level of insanity! he is even crazier than his predecessor the hero killer that lost his mind to Noah sama

      1. in this case i think both would be correct (meteor=rock falling to earth from space comet=block of ice cruising in space)

  4. Thanks for the chapter!!
    Right, first step is becoming a spirit,
    Next step is becoming a high spirit
    Then after a few more steps maybe he’ll become a divine being.
    Oh dang there was foreshadowing in the earlier chapters huh
    If he’s gonna go against the gods, he might as well become a god himself

    1. Too easy, it would be expected for a god to fight other gods, the true gamer move is to turn himself back into a normal human for the main fight, to get the bonus style points from the instant thousand hit combo he’s gonna need to use.

    2. I’m just gonna make a blind prediction here.

      Takki is eventually going to kill a Devil, and it’s going to be the moment when the Holy Gods truly flip out and start seriously consider attacking him as an enemy.

  5. No cheap deus ex machina only madness! Chapters like this one reminds me why this novel is a step or two ahead most novels.

  6. His gamer thoughts have finally gotten to the point where no one can even try to reason with him besides maybe Fuji.
    Feeling a strange sense of deja vu to Tsuki and his infinite growth, this should be a fairly interesting turning point.

    About the comet thing, I’m pretty sure it would be called a meteor once it enters the atmosphere but he is just using the term comet in order to clarify what it’s made out of so that we get to read about massive water magic.

      1. Hoooooooold up

        He might have a problem, with this he may not be able to have kids…curious as to how he would be defined if it is permanent. Also, what happens to his lifespan? It definitely seems to me like his aging at the very least would be affected by this.

      2. batcrow he’s only turning his arm into a spirit, so worst case scenario he losses his arm or it’s permanently spirity

  7. > Makoto: —-> SO COOOL!!!!!!!!!!!

    > General: “He is apparently the holder of Clear Mind, but is that all there is to it? ”
    It seems the top brass of the countries knew well all skills of the classmates of Makoto including him, but on the others, it was still a secret.
    If this is true, why Sofia still acts she doesnt know why Makoto wouldnt flinch sometimes?
    She should know that he possess Clear Mind as well…

    1. The version of the skill most people have would still crack when faced with certain death, like what Leo learned that still didn’t work against Furiae, or how Sophia’s skill broke down when the Taboo Giant was in front of her.

    2. She knew. Makoto told her in the first attack of Taboo Monster in Makkaren, or easier to remember, the first time where he lewded her ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)

    3. They all know that Clear Mind calms a person’s mind. The thing is that they don’t know how much it calms the mind. That’s why when they learned Makoto had this skill they just thought it was a generic skill because there are other mind calming skills that do nothing more than slightly calm down a person’s nerves and so they just assumed Clear Mind was the same thing.

    4. Because the player-type skills are a first in this world, and so a mystery for the people born in it, they doesn’t know their effects.

  8. Oh so they finally clarified that the General had nothing to do with what happened to Makoto. Both us readers and the characters assumed that he was the one who put Olga up to attacking Makoto and also had a hand in all the negative rumors spreading about him. Turns out that he had nothing to do with either thing and in fact had even warned Olga and Dahlia to not do something though they ignored his warnings.

    Well yeah Makoto actually is insane. Blame RPG Player. Because it gives him a third person perspective he sees the world like a video game and he’s just the player character. Just think of all the crazy shit we do in video games that we would never do in real life. Makoto is basically doing the same thing because it all seems like a game to him.

    OK I wasn’t expecting that. I figured that if he couldn’t control the comet for one reason or another then he’d synch with Lucy to access fire spirits and use their magic to melt the comet. Instead he turns himself into part spirit for UNLIMITED POWER!!! Ahem… so uh, does this mean Makoto will learn how to transform into other spirits to be able to use the other elements? Like having different elemental modes like a video game?

    Anyways after this gets resolved I kinda want Geralt to show up just so he can praise Makoto and call him his one true rival and worthy brother-in-law. I would love to see the looks on Olga’s and Dahlia’s faces once they hear that.

    1. This reminds me of the Scryed anime, by the end of the story, Makoto will probably have perfected this move to the point that he constantly has a finger tip of each element, or something else that’s barely noticeable.

      1. That’s what I thought too. Different elemental spirits in each finger.
        Remember the time in wood country where Lucy’s mom said that he’s loved by the spirits, except fire spirit due to his his incompatibility? I do think he’ll master the other 3 elements.

    2. I don’t think he will be able to transform into different spirits, as it is he even interact with spirits of other elements without syncing with someone else. I think all we are getting from transformation is JUST infinite water magic, not infinite magic

  9. “Right, in order to become stronger, I can’t stay a human!” (Makoto)

    By the time I noticed, I had shouted unconsciously.

    “I just have to become a Spirit myself!” (Makoto)

    ~~~~ Waaaaiiiiiit, what?
  10. The question is did he tried it beforehand? I can’t really imagine him just trying it out just now, as he’s still technically a cautious type and always prepared everything beforehand
    1. I doubt he tried it beforehand since the goddesses are so opposed, if you have a 50% chance of losing your sense of self when you transform even Makoto isn’t insane enough to train with that…..I think
    1. rpg prompt only shows when he is about to change fate.
      no rpg prompt probably means its just part of the path/route he’s taking
    2. On prev chapter the RPG player-san only gives a choice whether he would make fire country owe him or not. I’d assume he has a complete confidence on his method and rpg player affirms that he could do exactly that.
  11. as far i know a comet is mainly rock and ice, it travel around the solar system in a orbit. so its has movement and speed ( normaly any comet get very close to the sun, so they have a lot of speed to breakout from sun`s gravity and get away from it) a meteor its just a falling rock, the gravity of the planet is the main source of speed. of course any asteroid has some speed and a little orbit to follow, but most of them are just leaves in a lake traveling without direction. never going very far away from its position
  12. “I just have to become a Spirit myself!” (Makoto)
    I said to Sa-san and Lucy with a cool face.
    Fuh, nailed it.
    “““……””” ※Lucy, Sa-san, and the Enforcement Knight.
    ((……)) ※Noah-sama and Eir-sama.
    Why did everyone fall silent?
    Sounds like he will become like a HR spirit instead of little one.
    I wonder if he will be subject to rules for higher beings like limited actions against mortals or restriccion in his powers or something like he have to choose to move to a higher plane instead of stay in the mortal realm thus he choose become human again?(i saw somthing like that happen in another novels)
    Thanks for the chapter!
    1. I don’t think we have to worry about a higher plane of existence, just the small issue of having a divided consciousness and potentially not being able to make any decisions
  13. Main difference between comet and meteor is the composition, comet like stated in this chapter are mainly ice which is what gave Makoto his confidence. Meteors are more metal/rock, if a meteor hits a planet it changes to meteorite. The reason comets have those tails which are always trailing away from the sun regardless of the direction of travel is because the ice and dust is burning up. Meteors only have tails when they enter into the atmosphere and that is because they are burning up due to the friction heat.
  14. “If you can’t beat them, join them”
    “If you can’t use the power of the spirits then become one”
    Sounds legit
      1. As far as i observe, Reigokai posts in this order, Tsuki – One day break – WM – WM – One day break – repeat. But Reigokai said that he posts whenever he likes (something like that, can’t quite remember and i forgot in which chapter’s comment section he said that)
  15. Where does he get these incredible ideas? This is thinking way outside the box and then some! He would get along great with the Joker. Insanity is a perspective. Thanks for the chapter.
  16. Cliff sama’s strength is now over 9000! Makoto, you know your brain hella broken yeah? This is a level beyond broken. Always remember not to open chests and drawers of people’s houses kay? Even the goddesses are just stunned. Now, I need to see the payoff chapter. It’d be amusing if more goddesses joined his headspace though. More tsukkomis by common sense knowing goddesses is always amusing nano desu. I need to read the payoff chapter nano desu! Then Makoto can go home and fujiyan can treat him to hamburg sensei nano desu!
  17. At the end there, that feeling when you think you’ve nailed it but all you’ve done is made everyone cringe hahaha. Poor Makoto, I can relate.
  18. Makoto summoned chuunibyou power.
    He succeed and gain infinite mana
    Makoto tried to brag about it.
    he failed and took damages for it…
    Thanks for the chapter.
  19. And this is to go even further beyond!
    So uh, it’s weird that transformation magic can do that. I was think “so just shape-shift into a god” but maybe it’s more like changing your arm into a critical mass of californium? It’s still a violation of some kind of conservation of energy principle. I wonder if he’ll need a new arm after this or if he just… has a god hand now. Makoto, jailbreaking the universe with frightening ease.
  20. Many people know about Clear Mind and posses Clear Mind in this world already. But it is Makoto’s RPG player skill’s 3rd person perspective which makes him like he his. As it is like he is viewing this world from the outside of it and hence he isnt influenced by it. Noah sama explained this a few chapters back.
    1. The skill that other people have is called Calm Mind. Clear Mind is different because Makoto can set the level of the effect. Calm Mind can’t do that. Both Makoto and the water temple priests have not accurately estimated Clear Mind’s strength. The priests just assumed Clear Mind was more or less the same as Calm Mind which is why they didn’t treat it as special and part of the reason why nobody invited him to join them while Makoto overestimated Calm Mind and thought it was as effective as his Clear Mind when he suggested to Sofia to make all her forces learn Calm Mind to resist the mental effects of Taboo Monsters when it really only has a very small effect against Taboo Monsters.
  21. A meteor is simply object, especially natural object that fall down to earth from space. It could be debris from comet/asteroid, or it could be themselves. Author most likely trying to say that a comet is made of ice, and meteor are not, which technically not true. Meteorite does made of metal/rock, because icy meteor tend to burn in atmosphere, and he confuses the two as meteor weren’t made of rock.
    1. I think its because in the story, they teleported it that makes the comet maintaining the ice, and not burning it in the atmosphere. Hence, the author still called it comet to differentiate it from meteor
    2. I think the author is saying it’s not just a meteor, but more specifically a comet, which is damn useful for Makoto
  22. Thanks for the chapter~!
    Goddamn Makoto, you’re insane. I do think he’s not insane because he got RPG Player skill, but RPG skill came to him because he has those qualities in the first place. It definitely make it worse though.
    Also this is something I realized, but there’s always other peoples POV about how insane and OP Makoto is in every arc huh?
  23. Thanks for the chapter! Wow Makoto is so cool I don’t see many characters that gives up being human and gets so insane like this. At this rate he’s going to become a god soon since he has the ability to view the world in third person and I expect a fight against the holy gods after he rescued Noah from the temple.
    1. I have never tried to do that. But once i browse novel updates when i was bored, and i stumble across a post that is discussing a certain LN. The post’s author basically requested anyone who can and want to do a translation of said LN and he gave the reason why should someone do that. I haven’t opened that post again after i first meet it
  24. Ha. We called it.
    I…that’s…well, that’s certainly a solution, isn’t it? Even 1% of infinity is still infinity. I keep forgetting about his transformation magic. I guess there’s a bit of trouble turning back or a backlash from channeling so much through his body, so the goddesses would rather he didn’t.
    I wonder what would happen if he just turned his arm into Eir? He’s seen her personally, after all. Maybe there’s just an impossible cost.
    Tariska has been more reasonable than I expected for a good while now, and here, it’s fully confirmed that the whole mess was mainly Olga and Fire Oracle’s doing. What the heck are those dumb kids trying to accomplish? Ego or something? Meh.
  25. I’m beginning to understand why Noah’s beauty cannot destroy his sanity. Nothing to destroy there…
    Anyway, thanks for the chapter ^^
  26. Thanks for the chapter. So, Olga and Dahlia were behind Makoto’s harassment. I wonder if we’ll get to see the reason for their behavior in the next chapters. Also, Makoto came up with yet another insane idea as usual. And that last line… In any case, looking forward to see how this plays out.
  27. yup, the Hero of Water Country totally not a sane person.
    He totally done it now, i wonder if he will got bonus after this since he going half spirit. since in comment i read he can’t turn back after transform into spirit
  28. Nerdily speaking, anything that falls from the sky is a meteor, a plane, a dead bird, the rocks and cinder form volcanos, all of them are meteors. So the thing that fall over the fire country is a meteor, a comet that was turned into a meteor by the snake church.
  29. Since Makoto is Abels reoncarnation, it explains why he has such low stats. The gods punished him and limited him like they did to Noah. Thats why Noah came to him and why the Grand Wizard likes him so much. They were friends 1000 years ago. This story is pretty cool
  30. So if he saves the fire country, he will be rewarded with life-span, right? It works that you get life-span for great deeds?
    1. she probably can, since her skill is of a higher level than makoto
      but the repercussions will be dire, especially if she didn’t have makoto’s meikyou shisui/clear mind
      1. In my opinion though, since she doesn’t have any magic affinity or maybe even magic proficiency, it’s close to impossible for her
      2. Yeah, Change is of a higher level, but she isn’t familiar with spirits, she don’t even how they look, so I was wondering if is possible to her, with the same logic I also wonder if she can change to a divine being or even a god, she probably can’t but I think that maybe some day Makoto could do it for also be so familiar with them.
  31. Yea so what happened Reigokai-sensei I can’t read the chapter for some reason. I got the notification but the page doesn’t exist.
  32. Thank you for the awesome chapter Reigokai!
    I have to say I liked seeing the point of view or General Tariska. He isn’t as bad as first thought, then again that is a running theme throughout this story.
    I still say Takki-dono has a sense of danger, afterall he only ever runs headlong INTO dangerous situations. He doesn’t run headlong into safe or boring ones now does he. He quite simply has no appreciation for danger in relation to himself. But he is utterly and completely crazy. Likely worse than the previous Noah Apsotle.
    Those last lines always makes me laugh.
    [Fuh, nailed it.
    “““……””” ※Lucy, Sa-san, and the Enforcement Knight.
    ((……)) ※Noah-sama and Eir-sama.
    Why did everyone fall silent?]
    His concept of cool is skewed so uttterly out left field. Sorry Takki-dono the moments you want to be cool will never be cool. But we love seeing them!
  33. By comparison, if the Chicxulub Impactor was a single object, it’s estimated size is around 11-80km. This comet is said last chapter to be around 10km. Assuming the world is a planet like Earth, it’s potentially an extinction event.
    Also, it passes by yearly? Sounds like something from their asteroid belt or such. Comets tend to go decades between every pass.
    I bet Makoto doesn’t even realize how crazy he sounds “becoming a spirit myself!”
  34. YEEEEEEEEEEEEEEES! Hah, I was fucking right! Oh man that is so damn nice.
    Please somehow turn into a half spirit/half human hybrid somehow! Permanetly ofc, I don’t want him to fiunally get strong for real, only to have like 5 mins of use, and a week long cooldown… Ah but it was just his arm he focused on, so he would stil be as weak as before, as in, his body won’t change? I really want him to change fundamentally. But then he might be too powerful? And go berserk probably…
