Not a chapter – Important announcements

Hey guys, Reigokai here!

I have some big news to make.

First of all, as you have noticed, release frequency has changed -and I plan to keep it that way until I finish the extra chapters of Tsuki.

The reason for this is because…I will be going to USA for 2 months and a half in a week.

I have been given free time for preparation, which I will be using to release chapters like a madman! My plan is to finish the remaining extras. Though I have heard that the last released extra chapter is about Tomoki. If that’s the case, I won’t be translating that one until more extras come out afterwards. Don’t wanna leave the extras with a Tomoki centric chapter.

—On a different note, I have decided on a new story!

I actually had quite the good amount of candidates this time around.

But I had 3 really good candidates. I won’t be saying the names since they have too few chapters translated to appreciate the story properly. I simply don’t like getting bite-sized meals and not getting another meal for an indefinite amount of time.

Within those, I have decided on one!

It is actually the one I previously mentioned before about a guy named Makoto who has been repeatedly summoned to isekais.

Don’t misunderstand. I did read good stories and it was a close battle, but this one still pulled me the most in the few chapters I read.

I will leave you the summary here, and after that, I will give some short thoughts of mine:

QualiA – Simply wanting to meet you once more

In the summer when I was 16 years old, I was summoned to another world as a hero.

After that, a psychic, an alchemist, a sage, spirit mage, Demon Lord —being summoned by many other worlds, I repeated a lot of meetings and partings.

Lives I could save; lives I couldn’t save.

Hatred, sadness, happiness; with many things mixed, I recklessly pushed through.

And then, at the seventh parallel world summoning, I was dragged in a hero summoning.

Being summoned into Rivadeil, I wish for a peaceful life as an [Ordinary Citizen <Monster>]

——But his wish wasn’t fulfilled at all.

He was dragged into it this time around, so he was thinking of passing this one half-heartedly, but he was dragged into trouble right from the start.

The truth of the hero summoning, the disease of the king; dragged into the rampant darkness of the kingdom, by the time he noticed, he was turning into a central figure.

As he watched over the summoned heroes from the shadows and under the sun, he complained as he resolved the problems that he was dragged into.

And so, new encounters bring forth new enemies, and the tragedy repeats.

This is a story of a pitiful ‘toy’ that had its fate distorted by a god, and to bring back what he has lost…

Old title of this story was: Hero? No, I am simply an ordinary citizen (monster)

—Okay, now, for my own input.

This is an opinion based on reading 30 chapters, meaning, please take this with a grain of salt.

Story has a heavy seinen tone. I would say it is heavier than that of Tsuki. Politics play a big role here, but there’s also a good amount of character interaction that is pretty refreshing. It goes pretty in depth with the world and its workings.

I will begin with the protagonist. As the protagonist has been in 7 summonings already, he is incredibly aware of flags including romantic ones. He is powerful, but he is by no means the most powerful being which will be hinted in later chapters. Regarding his personality, I will leave it to you readers to build an image of him as you read.

In terms of antagonist. As you have read in the summary, the main antagonist will most likely be a God. Though, there are also others, who are not strong but are the crafty type.

About the other characters. The actual heroes are 1 guy and 3 girls. The guy hero is the very representation of a newbie summoned protagonist of an isekai. But the growth is handled in a realistic way (from where I have read). The other 3 girls, one is the childhood friend of the guy and the other two are actually old acquaintances of the main protagonist. They won’t be the asshole archetypes. They genuinely worry for the main protagonist. We will most likely be seeing the growth of a zero to hero from the guy and the girls.

This is all I can say without entering spoiler territory. I found it an interesting read, and I hope you guys will also do.

Thanks for the many recommendations that I got, I had a lot of fun reading them and cracking my head in which one I should choose.

—With that said, another important thing I have to announce.

Now you guys know about me going to USA for 2 and a half months and are probably asking ‘But Reigokai! Does that mean you will not be releasing for 2 and a half months?!’

The answer is no.

It won’t be a repeat of the last time where I had left for around 3 months without updates.

I will be using my cellphone or laptop whenever I get the chance to translate. I will most likely be using the cellphone more to translate, which I am not too adept on. I get a debuff of halved typing speed and comfiness.

Because of the nature of this trip, there won’t be an established schedule until I return. So I would recommend some way to get notified of updates like novelupdates, since the releases will probably be pretty erratic.

—End of the announcements.

Damn, that was a lot to cram.

To end this, I would like to once again thank the people that recommended stories. Also, for the ones that don’t know, I had a story I wanted to translate after finishing WR, which is named ‘Demon Lord, Retry!’, but it got taken before I got the chance to which is a shame and also a great thing. Definitely give that story a try, it is a fun read.

I would also like to extend my gratitude towards all the readers that have been sticking with me and the ones who have supported me in many ways. Thanks a lot! I literally wouldn’t be here without the support of everyone!

I am looking forward to seeing you again in the next isekai journey!

  1. I wanted to bring this out as a comment instead.

Between ‘QualiA – Simply wanting to meet you once more’ and ‘Hero? No, I am an ordinary citizen (monster)’, I actually like the latter better.

It is the kind of title that you scroll in novel updates and say: ‘hey, that’s definitely a japanese story name’ and check it, which QualiA doesn’t have and gives a more romance style story vibe which, for now, is showing none.

I will still be using QualiA as the title of the story as a whole. But the second choice gives out the japanese essence more and I think catches the base of the story better.

I want your opinions on this matter though. Which do you prefer? The old title or the new one?

    1. I would have to agree the second title does infer an isekai vibe. Out of context I would think those are 2 completely pieces of literature just from the 2 titles.

    2. Can give an opinion without read some cbapters first but with that setting the author has placed the bar very high for a start.

    3. Yeah, the second one would probably be more efficient in terms of finding readers.
When it comes to exposure, it’s important to consider people who would have liked it but ignored the title while browsing + people who get intrigued by the title but start with expectations doomed to disappoint them.

…But it’s not like you need to prioritize exposure, right? That’s the author’s problem, and if it’s good enough, it’ll earn a reputation for the neutral meaning-ed name QualiA on its own.

    4. First of all, I love and appreciate you Reigokai. You’re awesome. Second, I dislike both titles. I love Japanese novels but I hate that Japanese authors give their works super long names that are basically synopses of their books. Why not just name it “QualiA” or “Ordinary Citizen” and leave it at that?

    1. We will miss you these two months (and a half).
Go do what you must in USA and tell us your story too when you come back.

*… and thank you for not ending things with Tomoki, that could leave a salty taste.

  2. Personally I was hoping for something comedy based like World Reformation. But… you’re the translator.

Too bad I doubt you’ll be in Ohio during your stay, my job at the haunted house starts up at the end of this month. Oh how I could had bragged if I could had given you a scare? But hey, that’s life.

  3. Enjoy your break! I think you’ve barreled through plenty of releases enough for us to be willing to be patient for a while.

Put another way, once you start what I’m calling “Seinen Freeter” for now, you’ll probably be drawn into another mad production of translations, so might as well enjoy it while you can.

  4. I gotta say, due to the nature of my job, I dont have that much time reading novels anymore.

Got to put some novels in the “to read list”, some for months, and that includes novels you translated. But I appreciate your consistency in releasing the chapters.

Thanks man, and keep up the good work. I don’t know when I can start the binge reading, but I’m sure it’ll be a good one.

  5. Is it on novel updates? Because I tried to look for it but to no avail ;( if anyone has a link please share. PS:hope you have a wonderful time in the US

  6. Is it on novel updates? Because I tried to look for it but to no avail ;( if anyone has a link please share. PS:hope you have a wonderful time in the US

  7. Not gonna lie, i read “gets summoned to Rivadeil,” and thought what the hell, Riverdale, is that why they had to make a live action show, some weird shit happens, and even random Japanese people are getting summoned in?

  8. Thanks reigo for all the translations. story seems interesting and hopegully you have fun translating it, i just hope u dont overdo it.

  9. Well this is good news
I take my time to read the WR to finish
As well those extra even though feels a bit late justbfor the manga filler.

  10. Too bad you didn’t choosed Jashin wo Kutta Shoujo…. Guess I’ll translate it at a snail like speed. Or is this one of the candidates as I also only translated this till chapter 7 and you mention that your candidates have too few translated chapters.

  11. First of all, many thanks for all the work and I’m rly looking forward to the new isekai 🙂

For the title issue, I personaly prefer the first one, but its true that the second gives the japanese vibe and is descriptive and all of that, so I would rly prefer if you use the one you feel better about.

    Best regards pal 🙂

  12. Thank you for the great work so far Reigo! Have a safe trip!

The new story looks promissing, definitely will give it a read!

  13. I’m skeptical, but will give the new novel a try. Cool beans, coming to the states! As somebody from the US, I feel like I ought to warn you that tap water is actually not safe to drink in a lot more places than you would think, so ask around if you can.

  14. It is actually the one I previously mentioned before about a guy named Makoto who has been repeatedly summoned to isekais.

    Tsukiga ?? Just kidding .
I still have WR … .. thanks for the great work

  15. Damn, I’m late. I’m kinda nervous not being able to check in what genre the novel is but I will give it a shot at least.

And I’m curious what the heck happened to the author of Tsuki, was it dropped to focus on LN version?
