Tsuki – Extra 26: At that time in the modern era 7

TL: Hi guys, Reigokai here!

Just wanted to apologize. I was planning on making this a double release, but real life business got in the way, hence the late upload as well.

So, promise the next week will be a double release. Look forward to it!

Enjoy the chapter! 😀

“Natsu, I heard you admitted an acquaintance of Makoto.”

“…Information runs fast with you. I wonder where you get that information from. Also, I didn’t admit them, just accepted them as students.” (Natsu)

“What is the difference?”

“Meaning that I only plan on teaching them archery. It is the girls that came to ask about Makoto; high schoolers. They are completely regular citizens, so don’t go thinking anything weird, okay?” (Natsu)

The woman responds to the man that has intruded as usual into her dojo that doubles as her home.

The place is the archery dojo that’s owned by the master of Makoto, Munakata Natsu.

There’s currently no people there, but there’s a decent amount of people that go to learn from her.

For her, admitting someone meant bow techniques and not archery, so it was the trigger for a rebuttal from her.

The man has a muscular physique, and those trained muscles were showing their presence even within his clothes.

Right now he has nothing in hand, but he works as a swordsman —in a peaceful Japan.

It could be said that Ishido Genichi lived in a special world.

“Bummer. And I was looking forward to it.” (Ishido)

“It is a mistake to think that there would be many people to your taste in this Japan. I have told you before but, when Makoto returns, I will reveal your scheme and recommend him to escape.” (Natsu)

“So cold. Then, you are just teaching them normal archery?” (Ishido)

“Of course. They are the friends of my only disciple after all. As long as the people themselves wish for it, I plan on raising them with care without pushing them into an unnecessary direction. And obviously, I won’t allow you to meet them.” (Natsu)

“Having one or two old styles wouldn’t be bad, you know?” (Ishido)

“I would have considered you meeting them if they at least had the ability for kendo. You are basically a secret path for information. If those girls were to learn that you are connected with Makoto, who knows what kind of dangerous things they will do. That’s why, forget about this matter.” (Natsu)

“It is true that I can’t be a sports instructor…” (Ishido)

“So you do understand.” (Natsu)

“…Hey, Natsu, why didn’t you…teach Makoto how to use guns?” (Ishido)

Ishido scratches his head as he shows resignation in his face.

But, as if he thought about something, he changed the topic and continued the conversation.

Just by looking, one can tell that Makoto is an archer with special talent. But he is also a person that Natsu acknowledged to the point of making him her disciple and teaching him bow techniques.

Those techniques are a martial art that has little opportunities to shine in daily life, but even so, if she has looked after him through the end as his master, it wouldn’t be strange to teach him about the usage of small arms that she herself has polished as well.

“Why did you bring that up so suddenly?” (Natsu)

“Weren’t you interested in whether that accuracy could be shown in other things aside from the bow? That’s what I am asking. And so, I was wondering if you did or not.” (Ishido)

“…I didn’t. In the first place, how and where would I manage to have him shoot a gun? Did the battlefield make you senile?” (Natsu)

Natsu looks at Ishido in disbelief and answers with a sigh added in.

On the other hand, Ishido grins while pointing his index finger down.

“The basement of this dojo, if I remember correctly, there’s a nice shooting ground there. And I also know that you own a few quarried places.” (Ishido)

“…Are you a stalker?” (Natsu)

“So? Let’s hear the reason why you didn’t teach him even though you could. You are telling me to not meet Makoto’s friends, so it should be fine to at least tell me this, right?” (Ishido)

“His talent—” (Natsu)

“Don’t come with the ‘he didn’t have the talent’ card. It doesn’t answer the part about your interest in the application of his accuracy.” (Ishido)

“……”

“Natsu.” (Ishido)

“…I did bring the topic to him once. He is a man, so I thought there’s no way he wouldn’t have an interest in guns.” (Natsu)

After a small silence, Natsu speaks.

“Fumu.” (Ishido)

“But he refused it straight. He clearly refused it saying he didn’t have any interest in it. Pretty unexpected decisiveness coming from that kid.” (Natsu)

“Makoto refusing huh.” (Ishido)

Ishido makes an expression as if saying that’s surprising.

“Yeah. I asked him if he wanted to try out guns since they are long ranged weapons like bows, but even with that, he stood ground. He said: ‘Guns are different from bows. The image of being a weapon for killing is way too strong that I don’t feel like touching them’.” (Natsu)

“…”

“I don’t understand how swords are okay but guns are not though. He said: ‘if there were a gun art, my image of it would be a little different though’,which I didn’t understand.” (Natsu)

“Even though guns have also become a sports in the present. Like the clay pigeon shooting.” (Ishido)

“Yeah. Maybe he is stuck with the part of being a martial art, or it might have been a random reason he gave that can normally be seen from pacifists. In the end, it is still a mystery.” (Natsu)

“You didn’t pursue the topic?” (Ishido)

“Listen here, it was recent that I asked him if he wanted to try using a gun. There’s no way I could ask something like that from a child that’s still in school. Do you think I want to raise a soldier boy or something? In the first place, just as you said, I was simply interested in whether his accuracy translated to guns as well. Just a whim…… I do understand that guns and Japan are not things that can correlate. It is not a skill that warrants forcing him to learn.” (Natsu)

“True.” (Ishido)

“…Now that I think about it, I heard this from two of Makoto’s friends. Have you heard that there was a student in Nakatsuhara high school that went missing at around the same time as Makoto?” (Natsu)

This time, Natsu was the one to change the topic.

“Yeah, I do remember hearing about that. The girl that acted as the student council president, right? I don’t know her name though.” (Ishido)

“Otonashi Hibiki.” (Natsu)

“Hoh. The one who I asked to investigate it told me that it was a matter unrelated to Makoto’s disappearance, so I didn’t pay much attention to it though. So that was her name.” (Ishido)

“Eh?” (Natsu)

“What?” (Ishido)

The two let out dumbfounded voices, and then, silence.

“Old man Gen, we are talking about Otonashi Hibiki here, you know?” (Natsu)

“Yeah, and what?” (Ishido)

“…Hah… She was a disciple of yours!! I have already investigated that, you dumbass!!” (Natsu)

“D-Disciple? Uh… Hmm… Did I have one?” (Ishido)

“You don’t even remember the face of a disciple of yours? She is a third year girl in Nakatsuhara high school, and has this…straight black hair, and the length is about…this long. And well, you see, her family…” (Natsu)

Natsu tells him about Otonashi Hibiki with disbelief.

She didn’t like that, even though she tried bringing out a topic that should make Ishido show a surprised face, he instead made a dumbfounded one.

“Aah!! Now that you mention it, I feel like there was indeed a girl like that that was introduced to me through the acquaintance of an acquaintance! I just remember her dimly, but I see, so it was the girl.” (Ishido)

Dimly wasn’t enough to describe how much he remembered of her.

In the first place, for Ishido who had a shallow connection with her, she was basically only the pupil of a pupil. That’s why when she said disciple, he couldn’t connect the dots.

“What an unbelievable man you are. Seriously, why did you even take an interest in a boy like Makoto that can only use the bow? It is truly a mystery.” (Natsu)

“That guy is out of standard and interesting. He is honest too.” (Ishido)

“Out of standard? What part of him? He couldn’t even cut a straw post properly, right? I heard that all the ones that can become your disciples can, at the very least, cut a straw post in two or one stroke though?” (Natsu)

“Yeah, that’s the minimum. But conversely, Makoto could easily do things that they can’t do, you know? I didn’t tell you last time though.” (Ishido)

There’s the need for quite the technique to cut at a straw post several times in the space of a breath.

One of the minimum requirements of Ishido’s disciples is that they have to be able to swing again right after their initial one, which speaks volumes about how it is not a regular environment.

“Can’t believe that.” (Natsu)

“Hehe, he managed to do the ‘*Gogeki*’ <合撃> by only seeing it a few times, you know? I don’t know if he is treating his life lightly, but it is not something one can achieve with just that mindset.” (Ishido) <Swinging the sword five times in quick succession>

“……”

Natsu looks at Ishido with a dubious expression.

She was clearly directing eyes of doubt at him.

“Ah right, Natsu, I won’t meet them, but at least tell me how the friends of Makoto look. If I remember correctly, they are Hasegawa Nukumi and Azuma Yukari, right?” (Ishido)

“…You know their names already. Why do you want to know their looks as well?” (Natsu)

“No well, if I were to meet them, I would like to be of help. That’s all.” (Ishido)

“I feel like you would go directly to their school if I don’t tell you.” (Natsu)

“Yeah.” (Ishido)

“Can’t be helped. When they came last time, I got a photo of them….. Ah, this one.” (Natsu)

Natsu shows a single photo.

In there, there’s Natsu and two female students.

“Ooh! That Makoto, he is making such cute girls worry about him? What an envying youth. Give me one. I would like the girl here.” (Ishido)

“I will shoot you.” (Natsu)

“No, the woman in the middle is the best. She looks like she would be great with guns.” (Ishido)

“Do you like anti-material rifles?” (Natsu)

“…Sorry.” (Ishido)

“If you are finished with your business, leave already. If you are piled up at that age of yours, just go to a brothel. Seriously, learn from Makoto. It is apparently the standard in the girls of Nakatsuhara’s archery club. Even with that, he has been properly sweating in his club activities.” (Natsu)

“…Hoh, so this level is normal. Understood. I will leave.” (Ishido)

Ishido moves his bear-like body and stands up from his seat.

“I told you about how they two look. Don’t go to Nakatsuhara high school even by mistake. Understand?” (Natsu)

Natsu felt uneasy, so she pushes it.

“…….My disciple is missing, so I should have a talk with them at least once too.” (Ishido)

Former disciple, right? Moreover, you didn’t even remember she existed.” (Natsu)

“You have my gratitude, Natsu. I was about to neglect my duty. I am too worried about Otonashi Hibiki. I must go to Nakatsuhara high school!” (Ishido)

“I retract what I said! Don’t leave! Wait, you degenerate!” (Natsu)

Ishido managed to shake off Natsu and enter his eco-car with navigation that didn’t match his body.

And Natsu who had walked to outside was looking at the back of Ishido’s car that had already ran off.

Her eyes were cooled down as she saw it off.

“Didn’t even need to worry. The idiot is going the opposite direction. He should just crash onto a tree while at it.” (Natsu)

Getting lost in a car that has a navigation system.

She forgot that Ishido had that kind of special ability.

And just as she said, Ishido had arrived at the neighboring countryside.

The archery club Makoto loves had no one involving with it and the day was another peaceful one.

“Good grief. He must be bored as well with Makoto’s absence. Even when it is just Makoto gone, my everyday life feels quite different now. I thought that I had completely gotten used to the surface world…but in reality, it might have simply been that way because Makoto was there. It would be nice if he were to come back by the time the cherry blossoms bloom.” (Natsu)

After that, Munakata Natsu thought about her disciple that had disappeared with no news, and lets out a low mutter.

  1. Thanks for the chapter.

I feel like there’s something fundamentally wrong with the logic behind “sorry I couldn’t release twice as much this time.”

  2. Oh… I kinda had a hunch that the teachers are not from earth. In any case, thanks for the chapter Reigokai!!! c:

    1. Not from Earth? I think instead that they’re assassins from the “underground”. That’s why his teacher calls it “the surface” and asked Makoto about guns.

      1. Yeah, the surface probably means the outside world. While the underground stuff would be the other side. Which they most likely were involved when they were in the battlefield.

      2. Ahhhh…. that might be it. Still, I’m still curious about the “talent” of Makoto given that the teacher and the Deities know of it.

      3. Yeah. My read on it was that they were likely from some sort of “underground”. That said, “surface” could also be referred to “mortal realm” from a heavenly perspective.

  3. Hold down your horses…
He was being thaugth by divine beings from the start?
Now I’m way more intrigued about what’s inside.

    Thanks for the chapter!!

          1. An ex-merc that mains a sword today…
Don’t know about that, i heard of knife happy idiots, but thats still really dificult to swallow.

          2. My answer was split in half :v im still using a 6 yo smartphone its touch-screen is small and “enter” is dangerously near to “backspace”

      1. What higher plane? The archery master of Makoto, probably the bear shaped guy too, is an ex-mercenary part of the underground world as underground of society!! Mafia, mercs, illegal traffic, drug dealers, etc THAT “world” you know.

If they were from a higher plane would not make sense that they would be aware of what really happened to Makoto and Hibiki?

        RAW Paste Data

        We use cookie

      2. If its underground you could think it was a former sniper, former yakuza since yakuza uses sword it would fit

  4. At this point, I’m wondering if those masters are actually Gods or something…
And that poor, poor, useless Otonashi Hibiki… Couldn’t even stick in the mind of her kendo “teacher”. That burn would stick with her for the rest of her life if she heard it. Like, didn’t she say that it she was a gifted individual? Couldn’t even compare to a guy who she considers average on all aspects. Well, Makoto could easily subdue the Black Calamity Spider though, if that wasn’t already an indication of his superiority.
Getting lost on a short trip to completely different place… that sounds familiar…

  5. So those are Makoto’s martial art teachers, huh?

They seem…how do I put this…They give off an atmosphere that reminds me of Susanoo and Athena. Bizarre, suspicious, and stupidly strong. This is just my guess, but if they went to Bugworld, they could probably bring down a normal Superior Dragon.

I think this Extra gave us a bigger hint on Makoto’s secret talent than ever before. If I remember correctly, Makoto deliberately rejected his talent and forced his way down the path of archery, because something about it was just unpleasant. Since one of the only times he strongly voiced his desire is his rejection of learning guns, it sounds like his talent really is something along the lines of “killing”.

I don’t know what Gogeki is, but if it’s something that requires to strength of will to brush with death, then it obviously hints at Makoto’s zero-compassion “life is worthless” mode. I guess this means even his teacher don’t have a clear idea of what that is.

    1. that does seem very likely. it would also explain the Other that was trapped in him when the priestess looked at him with her special eyes.he’s probably nly holding back that talent by continuing down the path of archery.

    2. It’s probably something related with destroying life, if it’s the same thing inside his “Pure White, Cracked Shell” of a soul. Antithesis of life? Something that is related to weapons PURELY made to extinguish life? I mean, he’s tried to Overwrite it with Archery, and that’s a weapon, but also a tool? It should be based on Makoto’s own perception of the “Item” being a tool for “Killing” I guess? His apathetic slaughter mode and horrifyingly apathetic world view on killing people heavily suggests this.

    3. I don’t think so, Makoto already knew of his talent and has been actively avoiding it since the beginning to the point he developed another talent to the extreme, i don’t think killing is part of his talent since he accepted killing pretty easily to be something he constantly avoid

    1. Hello i am from 2020. Now 2021. There someone who lost in the wood sligtly like forest after using GPS. it seem google chan told him to get out from highways, he also felt the road is nice, he stop only because he felt someone knock the window after his car just suddenly stop.

      1. Holey Cheese!
Orca’s brethren? I mean he evolved from a truck, so a titanic ship as a brethren isn’t much a stretch.

  6. wow that Ishido guy…. is the the alternate universe of Zoro from One Piece ? even with GPS he stil get lost, just like Zoro…

  7. Now i kinda understand why makoto’s level is one. It should have been a negative lol being taught by two underground assassins lolz.

Actually i have an idea whats makoto’s talent now, even his teachers are abnormal, now im getting the picture of his talent XDD

Also i feel like these two beauties will come to the otherworld or so called kidnapped for real by the goddess. Either way YAY!!

    1. Also reigo-sama should just post tsuki regularly, if its double post it might end tsuki faster and i would end up boring

    2. It would actually be a pretty cool development if either of those clubmates showed up before Makoto now, I think.

I still don’t know whether the author’s end goal is to make Makoto ascend to godhood or reject it, but having those girls appear would probably be a solid push towards staying human.

      1. Mmm… I honestly don’t think Makoto will reject Godhood by the end of the story: there would be no character development if that was the case.

If I learned anything from reading this story, it’s that the author is an amazing writer! However, if Makoto rejects Godhood, that would not be a satisfying ending.

You see, we already KNOW Makoto hates the idea of immortality. We already KNOW he doesn’t like rebirthes. We already KNOW he doesn’t want to be a god. That’s why, if he rejects Godhood by the end of the novel, Makoto simply wouldn’t have developed at all as a character.

However, picture a situation in which Makoto absolutely has to become an immortal god to save something or someone (Perhaps to even take revenge?). In that moment, Makoto would change his entire way of thinking, deeming all his disgust from being a God to be irrelevant to his current goal. By then, his character would become one that is able to accept the responsibilities given to him and become a subject of admiration for all his subjects in Asora to admire and learn from his actions. By that time, he would represent a God both in his power and ability to lead.

Plus, there is just way too much foreshadowing that Makoto will get immortality one way or another.

This is why I’m on team GodMakoto

    3. Yeah, the girls will have some involvement with Makotgod in the future.

      Probably.

      The build up is there!

    4. I actually though that his talent would be something like Warlord or some specific war profesion, HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!!!!!!!

  8. I think Makoto also have a natural charm since in origin world?
Btw pooor senpai, her sensei even forget her and only focused on Makoto 😂

      1. correction : Trashmoki BRAINWASH weakling, not charming (well…. it is a kind of charming but alast, the target dont really have much brain cell )

  9. Thank you for the chapter Reigokai-san!
What a good chapter, as usual.
Seem like Makoto’s other talent is connected to death, kill or indifferent mindset like they said. Though i just cant get how exactly is the talent really works…, There is some hint in this chapter that support that theory :
“…He said: ‘Guns are different from bows. The image of being a weapon for killing is way too strong that I don’t feel like touching them’.” (Natsu)

“…I don’t know if he is treating his life lightly, but it is not something one can achieve with just that mindset.” (Ishido)

    1. Maybe the talent is just Destroy, in past extra chapters it was also mentioned thst due to an accident Makoto sealed this talent. Did he kill a rabbid dog or injured one of his sisters by accident?

  10. If i read tsuki properly until now then makoto’s talent is obviously killing as norn(one of fate sisters whom susanoo, athena and daikoku met) had said when she told them she got interested in makoto. Also those teachers may or may not be gods/goddesses but most likely they are just underground military assassins as i read in earlier chapters about them. And bitchiki needs to learn that she ain’t anything special and she’s just a narcissist and a hypocrite

    1. Hibiki is that way because she consider herself a special being, though at subconscious level. That only happens because she never met someone truly special, Hibiki is aware that Makoto is strong but she still understimate him and think he can be dealt with.

    2. In manga
Hibiki already harboring envy with him coz she see Makoto life is Soo colorfull, when his life with honest effort and hard work for his current place (vice chief archery club) and have a good friend who fully trust him, while hibiki is blessed girl who already have almost everything from start thats make her life is boring and she doesnt have true friend (every “friend” of her have their own ulterior motive)

  11. Hello Reigokai- san! Thanks for the new chapter this week 🙏
Uhm, is the main story finished already?

    1. Not yet, we are caught up with the raw, the author is taking his sweet time. So, Reigokai-san decided to take on tauki extra to make up for the lack of it.

  12. Thanks for the wonderfull chapter. So makoto had some kind of appeal for the sword. Wondering what would have happened if he took it as seriously as he did the bow. Could it be that o e of the Makoto dream sequence was actually the bear disciple instead of Natsu?

  13. For some reason it felt like Makoto raised some flags with his archery master lol.

    Thanks for the chapter.

  14. Thanks for the chapter, what the hell kind of special ability lets you get lost even with a navigation system, Ishido already surpasses Zoro’s zero sense of directions 😂

  15. Love the reality of this chapter

Hibiki Direct disciple —> Boring uninteresting trash

Makoto casual disciple—> Surpass his expectations on a few tries.

    1. Hibiki was the disciple of his disviple, of no real interest to him. But since its an excuse to go looking at the high school he suddenly called her his dusciple. But he still barely remembers her. Lol
      Thanks for the chapter

  16. Would be interesting if the meddling gods decided to explain the situation to the 2 girls and allowed them to chase after Makoto by sending them to that world. While what happened in the world he left behind is interesting it feels like the author has adding too many interesting characters and too much detail in to whats currently happening on earth to just write it out as a disconnected subplot.

    1. It’s gives insite into Makoto’s background training & how abnormal he was back in the ‘normal’ world. He thought of himself as weak & normal but he was an important someone to many who knew him.

  17. The teachers are just normal people (Assassin’s) or mercenaries ,if they are gods ,why they don’t know where is Makoto?

also makoto’s girls are being training by his teacher , but why ? ,could be they meet makoto in the future?

  18. Thanks for the chapter. I remember 1st time I held and shot a gun with my little brother and stepfather there, I felt very comfortable . Scared that I would hit something like are pets, but none of them came. It was only 2 times in my life that I have shot a gun after those times I would never want to ever again to pick up or fire a gun.

  19. If i remember correctly when makoto was still a kid the gods mentioned that he met a “healer” and later on makotos friend added information about the healer which replaced makotos name in a game (I think?) that it heals with a price or something in exchange. Makotos views of life so lightly must what he has exchange for being healed. AHHHH We want answers already!!!

  20. We can connect the dots now of what talent this is.

    1. Makoto’s supposed to die early age, but met the “The Healer”, which is some from the underground. Its is proven The Healer is from underground, because of the snooping of makoto’s friends.

    2. Makoto’s teacher are either a hitman or something in the line of killing. Also his second teacher is either a Yakuza or a Mafia with him getting informations.

    3. Mio said once in some part of the chapter that Makoto’s “character or ethics is taken from a book”.

    4. His meeting with those three gods is also considered abnormal and deadly.

    5. Meeting with Rembrandt which is also an underground type of person. Even Root is considered an underground too even talking to demon lord.

    6. If you take it in the “Heroes life in the otherworld”. Makoto’s story is already considered in the dark.

My conclusion in talent is “Encounter with Shady people”. Which is why the gods closed their eyes. And I think it is still in the line of normal LOL

    1. That’s no secret at all, Makoto has a passive for unexpected encounters and he is unable to turn it off or seal it to focus in other abilities.

  21. martial arts sensei teaches kata.
martial arts sensei offers to teach makoto about guns.
WHAT? makoto refuses to learn gun-kata?
    IMPOSIBURU!
    well.. there goes the GUN-dam…

  22. Kind of want something bad to happen to Makoto. I don’t know why but I imagine the goddess finding Asora, killing some inhabitants because they’re not human and then Makoto showing up to the aftermath. Then all Kuzunoha stores being closed and a sign reading “The Kuzunoha Company has decided to enter the war and side with demon race and thus our store will remain close until the end of the war. We are sorry for any inconvenience this has caused our customers” Estimated time of re-opening: 2-3 days.

    1. She’s been collar with a choker so nothing like that would happen but that would be a trigger for him in complete disarray if some of his people is harm by that Bug in some other way she could.

  23. I get the picture now of Makoto’s unique talent.
He doesn’t know but just feel it unpleasant when Natsu brought abrupt the idea of guns to him.
The Lorel Priestess was able to see that unique talent within him in an ominous manifestation of pitch black and horrifying existence.
Archery is basically the harmony and balance that he’s doing about it to overcome and restrained that hidden power within him. Also his childhood sickness is related to this deep darkness that somehow the unknown healer healed him from the brink of pain and death.

  24. I am jealous about Makoto, seems like he was living an OK life on Earth and even has a harem and beautiful family. Aside from the bug goddess, I could’ve empathized and sympathized more with Makoto if he was already living a hell of torment on Earth before being isekai (to a better life).

  25. “It would be nice if he were to come back by the time the cherry blossoms bloom.” (Natsu)
I would like to think of this as a major foreshadowing
