Chapter 289: Dragon Mother, Dragon Pulse; Succession

‘Well then, over here’, the landscape changed instantly without even giving me the chance to nod.

Under a sky that doesn’t have a single cloud in the sky, the sides and up and down were surrounded by deep darkness.

The presence of Azu-san and Tomoe has disappeared.

I was the only one who was separated?

But I didn’t feel hostility from that dragon that called itself Futsu.

It doesn’t seem to be an attack.

I don’t know how the world of the dead works, so I am troubled by what to do.

I can’t see anything aside from my own body.

No matter where I look, it is the same.

I also don’t feel as if something is hiding or erasing its presence and observing me. Not being able to grasp a presence at all is exactly how this feels.

…Well, it would be a different matter if this were a world where people like Rokuya are all around the place though.

“It took me a bit of time to prepare. Sorry for making a guest of mine wait.”

A voice reverberated in my head, and the snake-like dragon from just a while ago was floating in front of my eyes.

What, so it didn’t go to change or transform huh.

“How tasteless. So I am in this form.” (Futsu)

No well, you are the one that presented yourself in that figure.

Even I find it rare to be in a place like this where there’s nothing.

If you want to change your appearance, just go change it yourself. If you are an incredible dragon, something of that level shouldn’t be hard.

“I was the one who was told ‘well then, over here’, so receiving that impression of yours troubles me though.” (Makoto)

“…Right, sorry. I am currently entertaining the three of you in different places, so I tried my best so that the space were to recreate the place you wished for, but it looks like I made a mistake somewhere.” (Futsu)

“Wished for?” (Makoto)

But there’s nothing here though.

“Aznoval is in a forest that shines brilliantly with life, and Tomoe seems to be in a place of retirement in seclusion. In that case, this might be the kind of place that your heart finds respite in…” (Futsu)

“Stop it. That makes me feel kind of sad.” (Makoto)

I felt like I was told my imagination was abysmal, and that made me sad.

Not only that, it was vexing.

If at least some stars were shining here, it would have turned into a starry sky.

There really is nothing here.

“In this world of the dead that serves as the temporary residence of the souls, their outer appearance and landscape can be changed as much as one wants. That’s why the landscape that the souls wish for spreads in this land here and there, and in the cases when living beings like you guys visit it, I can change its look to a certain extent. For example, like this.” (Futsu)

The words of Futsu stop, and then, right in front of me, a plain chair and table appeared as if it had risen from the darkness.

Wow.

“So you can create things as much as you want huh. That’s impressive.” (Makoto)

This probably means she wants me to take a seat, so I do so.

I could clearly feel how the seat received my weight at my back.

“It is completely different from Creation. Please view it similarly to the one your follower Tomoe uses, where she temporarily provides substance to her illusions.” (Futsu)

“Tomoe’s… I see.” (Makoto)

I do know that Tomoe has obtained the ability to grant substance to her illusions.

If it is in battle, there’s absolutely no problem at all, but to use it in daily life situation, the bottleneck is that it is a power that can only be used for a short period of time. When Tomoe is silver haired, she obtains the ability to strengthen the vague sensation of the boundary between reality and void.

“The invitation to come here was mainly for Tomoe. I thought about having you give your opinions regarding this, so I asked you to come along as well.” (Futsu)

“Business with Tomoe?” (Makoto)

Oho, looks like this is not good.

Feels like I will have to be cautious.

The other party is an existence that stood on par with Root.

Just what kind of unreasonable request will it be asking my important aide for.

“Yeah. Aznoval said that this might serve as a mood-changer for you too. Of course, I will be lending my help in that aspect. If you want to learn about this world, experience it, and on top of that, there’s something you want to ask about, I promise you to answer whatever you want.” (Futsu)

…Even if you tell me that…

The world of the dead and things about souls; I might have a lot of things to ask about that unknown and mysterious topic, but…what about things I myself want to ask about?

As I thought, the thing that bothers me the most is regarding Tomoe.

She is an important family member after all.

…Family huh.

Now that I think about it, using that as an excuse, I have done something cruel to Mio. And I might have hurt Tomoe as well with it.

That’s probably why she broke so grandly when the talk about children was brought out.

Regarding Mio, there’s also the issue with Rokuya-san and… damn it.

When I leave here and return to Tsige, I must resolve myself properly regarding that matter.

Leaving aside the other matters, I have already reached an answer regarding those two a long time ago after all.

“It is true that this is an important experience, and a chance. But right now, the thing I am the most interested about is what you plan on having Tomoe do. There’s no other thing that bothers me aside from that.” (Makoto)

“There’s no need for you to worry. Not only do I currently not have the power to hurt you, I don’t possess the power to hurt the current Tomoe either.” (Futsu)

“This is the world of the dead, right? When I was told that, it reminded of many old stories and myths. For example; an existence that had been semi-imprisoned in this world and was searching for someone to take its place and tried to deceive that person into it.” (Makoto)

“That’s a myth passed down between the Wise -between Japanese people huh. Ah, I see. It is true that this place has a number of rules that are unique to this place alone, but I don’t have any plans on leaving this place, you know. That’s why, when I learned about Tomoe’s existence, I thought about calling her here. I asked this of Aznoval, but I didn’t think it would be fulfilled so soon.” (Futsu)

“I don’t understand what you are trying to say. I also don’t understand at all why you are aiming for Tomoe. Those words didn’t serve much in erasing my suspicions.” (Makoto)

“Fufu. In terms of binding the living to this place, well, putting it in an easy to understand way, there’s one that states that you can do it by having them eat food of this world while they are in this world.” (Futsu)

See?

In the stories I know of, most of them are basically like that too.

Most of the myths I only know about them roughly, but the times the world of the dead appear in the story, they are mostly because they wish to revive a specific important someone. And in those kind of stories, it is filled with traps like: ‘don’t drink, don’t eat, don’t turn back, don’t open your eyes’.

She easily revealed it, but it looks like this place really does have those kind of rules.

“…As I thought. Owa?!” (Makoto)

A short mutter leaks out from my mouth.

As if using my conviction as a signal, Futsu’s figure shrinks to a size similar to that of mine.

‘Ooh, in this size, even Dragons are cute’, is the stupid thing I was thinking when a broadleaf tree, which wasn’t too big, sprouted at the side of Futsu

It blossomed, withered, and stays in a form in between yellow and orange and a number of colorful fruits had sprouted from it.

It looked like tangerines.

“For example, if you were to eat the fruits -that are called *Golden Apples* by Aznoval- here in this place, your mind and body will be powerfully bound to this side, and even if you try to leave, it would take quite a lot of time and work.” (Futsu) <TLN: ときじく not really sure of this one. Just found the closest one that fit the description which can be the Golden Apples or the Peaches of Immortality –might be something more obscure though.>

Golden Apples.

I remember hearing about it. If I remember correctly, eating it would grant you immortality?

Eh, or was it longevity? Heal diseases? Or was it simply a symbol of eternity?

Crap, it is incredibly vague.

I feel like it had a longer name than that.

But why did he put a name like that to a thing that would entrap you in the world of the dead?

That’s a fruit that would imprison you in this side forever.

“Golden Apples huh. I remember hearing that name in myths.” (Makoto)

“Must be. He said that he used that as a reference. About those Golden Apples, if you were to bring them to the outside world and have a living being eat it, they can obtain an immortal body. If you want to, please take a few with you.” (Futsu)

Is that why.

“I don’t need a single one of them.” (Makoto)

“With a person that holds this kind of landscape inside of them, I did think that you would be saying that, but to think you would answer instantly. From what I heard, you are supposed to be a merchant. I don’t think there’s any article that would make you as much profit than this, you know.” (Futsu)

“No need to mind it.” (Makoto)

“Understood. I won’t force you. Fufufu, but really, you…” (Futsu)

“…What is it?” (Makoto)

“I simply thought that the Goddess and Root must be having quite the hard time with you. I personally don’t like the two of them, so from my point of view peeking at you from this side, you are the best. Please do drag them around to the brim of their patience. Yeah, without any restraint -thoroughly.” (Futsu)

I could tell that the cute-looking Futsu in front of me was laughing in an evil way.

So even if she doesn’t have any plans on revenge, she doesn’t hold that much of a good impression towards the Goddess and Root huh.

She says she doesn’t like them, but in truth, she probably actually hates them to the core. Yeah.

“…*Cough*, a bit of resent got mixed in there, but I personally am looking forward to what you will be achieving in the future. That’s why I have no intentions of imprisoning you here, and I also have no intentions of stealing your important companion, Tomoe. What I wish from Tomoe is…to transfer my power.” (Futsu)

“Transfer your power?” (Makoto)

Even when she has told me, I don’t understand the meaning.

Is there a reason why she wants to get weaker?

“For someone like me who passes her days managing souls, the past powers that are still inside this body of mine are a waste of a treasure. To be more specific, it is the strongest power of  I, who was called Mother Earth Silver Dragon, ‘Dragon Mother’.” (Futsu)

“Mother Earth Silver Dragon…Dragon Mother?” (Makoto)

Now that she mentions it, when I pour a lot of my power to Tomoe, her hair turns silver.

Is there a connection to that?

Also, what kind of power is Dragon Mother to begin with?

“I have already said this before, but I have no intentions of binding Tomoe. ‘Dragon Mother’ is a power that is related to the nucleus of life. It is difficult to explain it in words, and it would be best to understand it from intuition and experience. Hm…Azu…I see. I understand.” (Futsu)

Hm?

It looks like Futsu’s mind is currently not here right now.

From how she is talking, it seems as if she is thinking about something.

It feels like the times when someone is having a talk in thought transmission.

…Ah, could it be that Futsu is currently speaking with all three of us at the same time?

If that’s the case, she is quite skilled.

Having a conversation with three people separately at the same time; just thinking about it makes me confused.

Anyways, Futsu, who is most likely concentrating on her conversation with Azu-san, seems to be gentle.

It is pretty different from her attitude towards me that is as if she is receiving a guest.

It must be true that Azu-san and his group are in a close relationship with Futsu.

“I’m sorry about that. I received a small advice just now.” (Futsu)

“No, I don’t really mind.” (Makoto)

“About the power of ‘Dragon Mother’, putting it plainly, it is a power that lets you understand the world’s dragon pulse and utilize them.” (Futsu)

World’s *dragon pulse*. <Ryuumyaku>

Like the Ley-lines.

Even if you tell me that, I only know that it is like the energy of the earth. I am not knowledgeable about feng shui or things of that matter.

Did Azu-san think I would be able to understand with this?

It is true that this gave me a clearer image in that part about nucleus of life though.

“Regarding the part about comparing it to this so called ‘Dragon Pulse’, I would also like to ask Aznoval about that later, but putting it in a different way, it is like the fossilization of the soul of all things. Because of the result of something that’s similar to friction produced in the moment when the souls come and go from that side to this side, at the depths of the whole world, there’s a mass of power that flows like a river and— no, as I thought, it really is difficult to explain.” (Futsu)

“…You are saying that Tomoe has the ability to utilize this?” (Makoto)

“I certainly did feel it. From the current Superior Dragons, the only ones that can obtain this specialty are Tomoe or Root. And for a certain reason, it is impossible for Root. Also, seeing Tomoe with silver hair, I was convinced.” (Futsu)

“By accepting it, will it forcefully affect Tomoe’s position and personality in some way?” (Makoto)

“No. I ascertain this. Strictly speaking, this is like an access permission of sorts. It will be done in an instant.” (Futsu)

“…”

In reality, it sounds like a sweet deal.

She says that she will be giving power for free, so it is extraordinarily sweet.

But you know…no matter how much you don’t like the Goddess and Root, would she really go to such lengths?

“From what I see, you are seriously intending on confronting that God. In that case, the power of ‘Dragon Mother’ should serve to protect Tomoe. Even if Tomoe wishes for it, if you as her master rejects it, it is impossible to transfer the power. Can you please give me the answer? What do you think about it?” (Futsu)

“If there’s no demerit at all. In my personal opinion, I want Tomoe to get stronger. BUT! If she herself doesn’t wish for it, it is a definite no. That’s my conclusion.” (Makoto)

“Okay.  You guys have a nice relationship formed there. That scarily powerful Spirit, and the hyuman corpse that has obtained growth are probably the same as Tomoe. I am slightly jealous.” (Futsu)

“…”

Spirit and Corpse.

Tamaki’s existence hasn’t been noticed by even the Goddess, so…is she talking about Mio and Shiki?

I somewhat understand about Shiki, but is Mio categorized as a Spirit? Not in the Calamity category?

“Tomoe said the same thing. That if it will serve to protect you and sweep away your uneasiness, she would want as much power as possible. But she also said that if it is something you don’t wish for, she will not put a single finger on it.” (Futsu)

“…”

That Tomoe, she sometimes says really admirable things.

I seriously am only blessed by people.

“Understood. Tomoe will be taking that ‘Dragon Mother’ power. But, when something abnormal happens…” (Makoto)

I definitely won’t forgive you.

“You definitely won’t forgive me, right? I know. I was sure you would say that. As I thought, you really do resemble him. It is vexing, but I understand why Root is so stuck onto you.” (Futsu)

“If you understand…that’s good.” (Makoto)

Honestly, receiving power for free in a state where I still can’t trust the other party completely, is something that I don’t really want to do much. It doesn’t feel good.

Even so, thinking about the battle with the Goddess that will be coming in time, it wouldn’t be bad to have the others aside from me also gain a lot of powers.

“Ah right, if you are thinking that it doesn’t feel good to receive power for free…” (Futsu)

“Hm?”

As if seeing through my heart, Futsu speaks.

Is my way of thinking that similar to this guy she is talking about?

I don’t think I am similar to a guy that would take Root as his bride though.

“Can you please take care of the trouble in Kannaoi? About that matter, if we were to trace it to its origin, it is a fight that stems from their love for their country and territory. That’s why, you should be able to take care of it even through their tricks. It is originally something that I wouldn’t be getting involved with, but thanks to one of the two royalties that the Goddess has bestowed being up to no good…things have gotten quite complicated.” (Futsu)

“Royalties? Are you talking about the charm eye?” (Makoto)

What does she mean by ‘the royalty that the Goddess has bestowed’?

That’s the power of Tomoki’s demonic eye, and that’s certainly something that the Goddess bestowed upon him but…

“The power that the Goddess has bestowed to the heroes is royalty conferment. A strong body and magic power, also a power that is fitting for them as rulers has been selected and manifested. I don’t know how she explained it to them, and that’s something only the person herself knows though.” (Futsu)

“…”

“The Goddess has invited two heroes. The likes of the Goddess are biased, and the power of the sacred treasures she gave them may have differences, but it seems like the power they obtained is pretty similar.” (Futsu)

“So that’s a part of their power huh…” (Makoto)

“Without meeting each other, without speaking with each other, without being in contact with each other; a disgusting thing to see and touch that has the power to cut into pieces the bonds between people and capsize it. In this Lorel, in this country that loves Wise, there’s no need for this disease.” (Futsu)

“It is true that I did think badly of it since it was something done by a Japanese person.” (Makoto)

I didn’t think the charm power would evolve into such a way of using after all.

“Of course, I will have the Adventurers of Origin cooperate as well. But they have a limit in how much they can intervene, so I want to ask of you -who lives in the present- to bring a close to this.” (Futsu)

…Could it be she also knows about my relationship with Iroha-chan?

If Rokuya-san has told her about it via Azu-san, it might be possible.

But if the Adventurers of Origin can’t stand at the front stage of history and are trying to reduce their influence to it, even if it is possible, it is most likely impossible for them to solve the problem.

…Right.

A happy ending where everyone views the dawn with a smile doesn’t exist. That includes matters where a country has turned muddy.

There’s people who wish to reach even if it’s only a bit better of a conclusion, and without minding the amount, they do their best without sparing any effort.

And, I know about that girl to a certain extent.

That eager figure of hers.

“I will be telling you this in advance. It is not certain that it will reach the conclusion that you wish for, you know?” (Makoto)

“I am already aware of that. Many lives will most likely come here. But that’s also the usual. I won’t blame you for that.” (Futsu)

“In that case, as an honorarium for giving power to Tomoe, I will try to do as much as I can.” (Makoto)

It makes me feel more relaxed when it is a work that has a reward after all.

“Your arrival to Kannaoi probably made the issue proceed in an accelerated manner. Revolts will most likely be occurring in the towns at the vicinity. Please go at it at your own discretion.” (Futsu)

Leaving an ominous prognostic, the darkness is wiped, and returned to the previous landscape where Azu-san and Tomoe are also in.

Well, it doesn’t matter whatever it is.

At a glance, it doesn’t look like Tomoe has changed, and Azu-san is probably the same.

Mio and the others are probably waiting, so this is a good time.

Let’s return to the world of the living.

There’s no traps, right? We can return, right?

  1. Thanks for the chapter!

Hmm. Judging from the title, I guess Futsu gets what she aimed for, whether or not it’s going to achieve her goal. Either way, Makoto consultation time!

      1. You realize that you have to fill in the punch card 12 times for the free cookies?

Actually, we’ll be changing to stamp cards at the end of the year, so your points will be moot if you can’t fill it up before then on top of that.

        1. Second place gets you nothing from the Dark Side.
Ah. Sorry, that’s not entirely true.

Your consolation prize is the scent of delicious cookies that first place graciously shares while they devour them with extreme prejudice, so you’ll always have that. ^_^

    1. Isn’t it just that she has access to some sort of Dragon Pulse energy now?

My guess is that she might be able to sustain her Silver form much longer-if not constantly.

      1. Futsu mentioned about the Nucleus of Life related to the Dragon Pulse.

‘Life’ has a broad meaning so I expect something more than just silver hair or additional magic.

      2. since you’re saying about ‘Life’ in more broad meaning….. i have the thinking its about their fertility rate in conceiving child since supreme dragon have really low chance of conceiving child for them (i hope so, so Komoe-chan can have lots of little siblings to play with…. i miss Komoe-hime-chama… )

  2. Was hoping Makoto would put an end to that charm stuff going on in Kannaoi. I got the feeling like he was just going to ignore it which would cause a ton of problems later on. Well then this should be interesting to watch.

    1. With just what he knew about the people in the area before this, he might have assumed the Origin would have fixed it after he left. Now we know they have limits on their interference.

    2. Well it was an annoying problem and he doesn’t really like those so he might have gone and dealt with it eventually.

Now he has an excuse to get it done with now:
“I have to crush your countries leaders, the Lord of the Afterlife commanded me to”

  3. Thanks for the chapter, Reigokai-sama! o7

Finally, what I have been waiting for!

Time to clean up the trash in Kannaoi! And maybe, just maybe, give a serious beat down to the king of trash himself! *fistpump*

And, is Makoto finally, finally, finally, finally gonna choose between Mio and Tomoe????

    or maybe…

    HAREM END?!

(cuz u know there are still those two girls back at Earth)

Just create a warp portal already, Makoto!

    1. Meh. I don’t really care for those 2 girls on earth. But he better do the deed with his dragon and his spider or else the author shall be having … words…. with the readers.

    2. Harem end depends on whoever gets First Wife position, but maybe he’s already leaning that way, jufging by his thoughts about how he may have hurt them both.

As for the other two, he can probably just tell his Silver Gauntlets to get them, without a portal being involved. No one will understand how it worked, but it will.

    3. My guess is,
He will ask Mio and Tomoe to wait for him till they found a way to get back to the origin world…
The main reason being that he wanna check if the club president and the kouhai are still in love with him or not…
Or, he wanted to express his love towards them and if they are still interested in him. If yes, he will ask the 2 girls on earth if they are interested in staying with him at the other world…

Regardless of the answer, he will still answered Mio and Tomoe with a nod.
Juz that, he want to make sure if the prob he left on earth is resolved, he hope that the 2 earthlings are not agonizing over his indecisiveness.

      1. @Psychronia: Your going to be super sad and I’m going to be laughing my ass off if the author decides to go in that direction.

I might even go as far as to applaud the author if he has Makoto reject all of them.

      2. We don’t know what future awaits expecting something to happen and what you do or don’t want to happen would make it worse for those who waits for the new chapter
Lets just keep it ourselves but if want to express our opinion lets just keep it low….. and slowly not to jump something we could assume to happen
        What worst could happen?

        Eccept NTR! Screw that shit
My wounds still burning after reading that shit

    4. One day soonish in Asora:

Makoto sitting at a table with Mio and Tomoe nearby.
Makoto sighs deeply while staring off.
“What is the matter Waka?” (Tomoe)
“Oh, I was just thinking about how I haven’t beening thinking of you two as family recently” (Makoto)
Mio and Tomoe jerk and look concerned.
“But as women, was considering what I should do about it.” (Makoto)
      Mio and Tomoe fidget

    1. Makoto will just end the charmed people. It is also unlikely that He will be fighting Trashmoki now…

If anything, he will be fighting Hibiki first instead of Trashmoki.
The reason being Hibiki had guessed that Makoto’s main base is around tsige.
It is also hinted in some chapters that asora will be invaded. But who is the invader was not told… So, it could be Hibiki, or the God from earth, or the bug…
Hence, Hibiki may want to poke the beehive (Makoto) by invading it… While attempting to take over every resources that Makoto has (since it is her personality to exploit ppl to the max… Thou she don’t admit it)

      1. i dont think the Gods from earth will ‘invade’ they mostly just ‘sightseeing’ or at best ‘have a vacation’ in there, since some of the Gods already make Makoto Fans Club i dont think they will do something that will harm his domain

      2. Hibiki is not an idiot. She would “poke the beehive” when she believes that beehive can destroy the world and kill the Goddess. Instead, I’d imagine she’ll try reconson.

  4. I haven’t commented in a while, but something about the recent chapters made me think of something. With if this arc and the fight with Azu was the set up for the next arc in which Makoto fights and kills trash. Trash’s two trump card are his nuke and immortal body during the night, but the current Makoto probably isn’t affected by the nuke ( am basing this assumption on the chapter when makoto fought the door-demi and it summon nukes ( I think )). Now he has experience fighting an immortal and has some general idea on how to neutralize them. I know this is out of place for this chapter, but I didn’t manage to comment in time for the last chapter.

      1. I don’t think that’s exactly the same thing.

Well, it might still do nothing since the nuke itself is a magic, but my understanding of Makoto’s immunity was that he can’t be affected by status ailments because his manapool kills any magical interference.

Radiation, on the other hand, is more like a physical airborne poison or something?

  5. Thank for the update.

Hm…It’s interesting that the landscape that reflect his heart is a deep void. Carried 2 meaning (IMO) actually: The darkness that’s within him, reflecting his wish to be alone, and his training to become empty, to become above of all worries. It’s like if Reimu (Touhou) is having her depressed phase…which is exactly what it’s.

    1. Could mean any number of things. Two major reasons that came to my mind are, that he really has no other ambitions, he lives only in the now, with no wishes, and the other, that his armor and mental shielding while traveling in the land of the dead, is so strong that she couldn’t read his wishes, or ideal “Home.”

      1. the first one is wrong IMO; he has a strong wish to go back in japan as shown by asora being an imitation of it, and still hasn’t give up after all the time since he summoned samal and keep researching on transfer magic. as well since some time he decided to overthrow the goddess, and make preparations for it.

        1. That was then, he hasn’t really done anything since then, and we don’t know if he’s actively researching portals, or just let Shiki handle it. He also doesn’t really want to “overthrow” the Goddess, just hit her once, not take over for her.

          1. samal’s events happened at the end of the previous arc, that’s rather new.

makoto said he intended to kick out the goddess out of this world and expected another to come take her place.

          2. Wanting to beat the Goddess down was a couple years ago, he’s mellowed out since then, and it’s been months, at least, since he captured Samal. With over sixty chapters I wouldn’t be surprised if it’s been another couple years since then. Samal has probably recovered enough to recognize shapes, by now.

          3. Samal’s summoning happened barely 2 months ago (there is like 50 chapter in lorel), and it ended with shiki starting researching about it, and makoto saying it will take time.

makoto wanted to “punch her once” because of anger in the beginning, but he is still serious about fighting her (and remove her). it was mentioned with the gods, it was mentioned with hibiki, it was mentioned with tamaki, it’s even mentioned in this chapter:
“From what I see, you are seriously intending on confronting that God.”

          4. Confronting, but he stopped wanting to remove her long ago. He doesn’t want her job, he just wants her to stop screwing up the lives of the people.

          5. and think she shouldn’t be in control and expect another god to take over after her downfall

    2. What if he has no darkness but just impulsivity? Like when you get lots of adrenaline..

That girl whose name I forgot that saw the crack might be being influenced by the goddess and/or can’t understant what she saw completely because that is the true MC that is evolving? Could be interesting.

    3. Whatever the case, it seems like the consensus for us is that rather than Makoto’s imagination being abysmal, it’s more like he’s at home in an abyss.

      Which…I mean….um…”surprise”?

    1. That or honestly accepting that all his followers aren’t his family members, and he should be answering their feelings for him. If he does that with sex, we may finally see his physical limits to stamina, probably before he gets halfway through the Gorgons, unless they go alphabetically…maybe by entrance into Asora, or something….

      1. Crazy..
Start from the entrance? No… he have to start from the academy.. wait.. from Tsige.

        That’s a long line!

        ……………………………………………………………….

Jokes aside, Makoto need to be clear and answer their feelings first. That’s what he mean when he said that he need to resolve.

Some hearts will be broken, others will melt.

      2. I mean, his followers are family members. It’s just that they’re not blood-related family and their family love doesn’t have to be limited to storges.

Every husband and wife are technically “family”, after all.

    2. Obviously, it’s resolve to survive the night.

Once he opens that can of worms, the story suddenly going to start reminding us of Five Nights at Freddies, I’m sure.

  6. If the charm of the trash is the power of the eyes, I hope Makoto pluck that eyes and make a barbeque out of it.

    1. He doesn’t care about consequences anymore, after what Makoto did to him, so he may have eyes all over his body now, and I don’t know about you, but I wouldn’t want to even think about touching the one that’s replaced his prostate.

    2. While that would be painful, Tomoki’s immortality means that Makoto has to either keep plucking out his eyes every monthly regeneration or put him down for good and start a fight with the goddess.

    3. I don’t just trashmoki powers are a problem. Futsu even said it clearly: one of them is up to no good and that both are similar. Also, I feel that a tinge of it means that both powers (the new ones) are similar.

      1. I don’t think she was talking about the new ones, especially since she mentioned about it being related to being rulers.

Charisma and Charm are similar and fits the power of a ruler’s image, since both gives them the ability to make people follow them and in fact, it is helping them to takeover their respective countries.

Her talking about the power “manifesting”, might be her referring to how Tomoki’s power manifested into something he can spread towards other kingdoms and Hibiki’s charm power might have underwent a similar manifestation, since they kept using it often.

      1. Willy-san, he said more or less that Trashmoki should prepare himself because they will shot at him (in the sense of a beating).

  7. Pffft! I admit, Futsu earned some points with me with that really carefree troll comment only a high-class existence can make. It’s simple, but entertaining.
“So, I really don’t like Root or that goddess myself, so please feel free to cause them heaps of trouble~”
Let’s be honest, most of us were exactly thinking that for months now.

Combined with her compelling Makoto to help out Iroha and her poor Trashmoki’ed mother before he leaves? Even if I can’t entirely trust her motive, I was totally giving Futsu a thumbs up by the end of this chapter.

So what I gather from her explanation of Dragon Mother, Futsu is going to grant Tomoe the ability to access an enormous normally untapped energy pool that’s concentrated in something like a separate dimension. And I think this energy comes from some sort of “inefficiency leak” that happens to souls in the process of transferring from the world of the living to the world of the dead(dying)?

It would certainly be convenient if Makoto didn’t have to lend Tomoe his magical power in a pinch, though it’s something that only becomes necessary in in “Summoned Root’ level calamities.

…Okay, it has to be said. The moment Futsu described her title with “Mother Earth”, her dignity dropped by at least 20 points through no fault of her own and that fact cracks me up.

      1. If I understood correctly, the adventures of origin are not alive nor dead, So I think it wasn’t a true immortality.

        1. Well, she’s not best wife. Inflation or something should probably get that title.

She’s best Earth at the very least. I’m still considering her for my onee-san and klutz rankings.

  8. ah damnit ! i didnt notice the date ! i though it will be tomorrow for the new chapter :'(
and about golden apple….. the most i think of is the Hesperides Tree golden apples (Greeks) and the golden apple of idun (norse.. i think)
and as always, Thanks Reigokai !

      1. Nah, the next one is World Reformation. I just had things to do and couldn’t update it.
I left World Reformation at a nasty place, so I want to know what happens next, lol.

  9. An interesting chapter that might require us paying attention to futsu words. Like, I think she said that AofO are not alive or dead. Kinda like they can finish dying any minute if done correctly.

      1. “Of course, I will have the Adventurers of Origin cooperate as well. But they have a limit in how much they can intervene, so I want to ask of you -who lives in the present- to bring a close to this.”

I’m taking into account the part “who lives in the present”: it either means that Futsu reefers to the fact Makoto cares about the current affairs of the world and that the AofO want to get out of it (despite doing the polar opposite forcing me to not believe it) so they won’t do much OR means that the AofO do not live in the present – meaning they ‘stopped’ aging or they are not alive or dead (which I find to be more correct) – so they can’t intervene much.

Can’t mean they have an agreement with Bug to not involve themselves that much because that also means Makoto can’t do much as he also does have one. And, currently, he can’t win against Bug and just do whatever he wants with that promise/verbal contract.

Well.. That’s how I think she said it – with sutility. But even if I’m wrong that Futsu said it, I think this kinda glues the pieces together, somehow. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

    1. non non, as you know the AofO are unrelated to the World, that’s why she said “you who lives in the present”.

but is not like the AofO aren’t alive ,is better leve to the people involved resolved the problems

  10. “When I leave here and return to Tsige, I must resolve myself properly regarding that matter.
Leaving aside the other matters, I have already reached an answer regarding those two a long time ago after all.”

YOU BETTER NOT FORGET ABOUT THIS.

  11. Tomoe is gonna get stronger? I guess that means Mio will have to get a power up too. We can’t have one being favored over the other you know! Though I do favor Mio just a little bit haha.

    Thanks for the chapter!
The author was waiting for you to catch up to the raws so that he could start releasing new chapters it seems.

  12. Makoto u damn chicken u should have just force a binding pact with futsu. Then u can be ruler or earth and underworld. Bing root too and u can have heaven earth and hell lol

  13. Aww. Makoto and Tomoe had a little moment there that brought flashbacks of the ending of Shield Hero.

…Eh? Eh? Eh? Eh? Makoto has long had an answer regarding Tomoe and Mio? He’s resolving to do “something” about it after returning home? What? Yes? YES!
Wait, no. Rather, what the fuck Makoto?! You made them wait even after reaching a conclusion by your merry self!?

Well, at least that should be changing soon. Say what you want about this arc, but it’s certainly drawing out a lot of self-reflection from Makoto about who he is and what he should be doing.

If visiting demon country and achieving Creation stimulated his maturity in power, visiting Limia and talking to Hibiki did the same for his perspective, then this one is probably building on his emotions and bonds. (And Tomoki led to the culmination of trash getting punched in the face or something, I guess.)

    1. I just want to make a comment regarding Makoto’s Resolve to do something but… guh you punched me in ot it!

The least I can hope is for Makoto’s resolve to be a good one! In other words… LOVE THEM MAKOTO! LOVE THEM ALREADY!

  14. Thanks for the chapter, I can only imagine how bad the trash infection has got during the time they have spent in the labyrinth, going to need some trash ointment to get rid of it in the form of Makoto. I’m hoping Makoto goes for both his spider and his dragon, much disappointment if his choice doesn’t include the two.

      1. Shii is the female forest oni that Makoto brought with him when he came on this dungeon crawl.
She fought the main merc squad along with the dwarf and spiderkin while Makoto, Tomoe and Mio were dealing with the AoO.

    1. Trashmoki is most likely not there, he just sent his zombies to infect people with his Charm Eye. But if this leads to him getting his ass handed to him then im all for it

  15. Thank you for the CHAP!!! This is a good chap! No more Cliff!

    …atleast until next chap… ahahaha~

BTW! Mantle “The Mother Earth” rank has dropped by one! Futsu “The Mother Dragon”!

  16. Thank you for thechapter! I cant wait for makoto to start fighting and kicking ass. Hope irohas mom is ready for the beat down that is coming 😂😂

  17. She is an important family member after all.

    “…Family huh.

Leaving aside the other matters, I have already reached an answer regarding those two a long time ago after all.”

Ohhhhh… I REALLY like where this is going! Long time no see, thank you for this great chapter!

      1. “You guys have a nice relationship formed there. That scarily powerful Spirit, and the hyuman corpse that has obtained growth are probably the same as Tomoe. I am slightly jealous.” (Futsu)

No, she referred to two different people when she said a spirit and an undead. Plus, I wouldn’t call Shiki scarily powerful when he barely defeated a superior dragon. Everyone fears Mio and we don’t even know how powerful she is since she was never placed in a situation where she could die.

Makoto said that it couldn’t be Tamaki, so the only one left is Mio. I don’t think that she would leave out Mio when talking about his followers.

  18. I’m caught back up with this.

So Azu-san is convincing Tomoe to include Mio and herself in their Heir plan for Makoto and Futsu is giving power in exchange for Makoto saving Lorel from that Bastard and Manipulative Princess.

  19. The comment section is really fun to read after the chapter.

Thanks for the translation, great work as always. 🙂

  20. Thanks for the chapter, so is he finally throwing his v-card with resolution since he realized his feelings for Tomoe and Mio?? So the goddes gave the two heroes power meant for ruling, so even thoug it manifests diferently it is the same power set??? What could be Makoto future actions against the Empire plot???

  21. thanks for the chapter!

    *futsu see komoe*
    *futsu bring a chair*
“why don’t you take a seat right over there?”

“Now that she mentions it, when I pour a lot of my power to Tomoe, her hair turns silver.”
futsu didn’t denied root being the maker of shen, so futsu shouldn’t be tomoe’s mother (I though so in the begining), but more root used her as model. (like somepeople thought)
    or futsu hide it.
or Shen birthed from root and futsu.

“is Mio categorized as a Spirit? Not in the Calamity category?”
I think she is called a calamity because she wreck amok everywhere, and not she wreck amok because she is a calamity
IIRC, she was called something like avatar of darkness or incarnation of darkness

“The power that the Goddess has bestowed to the heroes is royalty conferment. A strong body and magic power, also a power that is fitting for them as rulers has been selected and manifested.”
Another brick to the theory that the goddess is Hera.

  22. Very suspicious. I mean she pointed out Tamaki as the scarily powerful Spirit. Or maybe not.
Clearly he need to fulfill that one wish of her and that is to kill and completely erased that bastard Hero from the Empire.
The other one which his friend that her ideal is stupid and needed to opened up her eyes that her goal after the war is not pretty good. By doing so as kicking the goddess ass and replacing her by him.

  23. No idea what’s going to happen next and I feel like it’s too early for the author to have tomoki die (author have not use tomoki for any significant plot against the MC yet).

    1. I kind of hope Makoto does something like Izanami (from Naruto), so that he kind of would relive his past. I little interest in Tomoki’s past and wonder what exactly happen to him that made him this way. I know that he was bulled and protected by female students but I wonder about his home life and exactly how he was bullied.

      1. Well I supposed that his bullieng included, guetting beat up in dark corners where no female is close by, ignoring him and leaving him out of social activities. Thats just my assumption, it was also mentioned that altough the female camp protected him from the males, they also tryed to force him into something, and when he denied they turned they wrath on him, wich I suppose was move things in the background to affect him. And it seems he was in a neglected household. But this has to be taken with a grain of salt given that is all from his point of view and one hardly is objective when seen situations that directly affects us.

        1. I kind of what a little more details of what life what was like for him. It is kind of like what you just said it all we can do is imagine and guess what happen to him. The information you just said makes sound like he was taken steps in life of losing his own mind.

          1. Well problaly he was, thats why his transmigation is so important to the character, if he had been received by the rigth people maybe with them he might have salvaged proper conduct and properl matura as a person. Rigth now he is living in a escapism mentality that akes him easy to manipulate.

          2. I am saying he was in the process of losing his mind, but what you said I agree that the whole transfer to the other world and away from Japan is probably what saved him from going insane. The world he is in right now and with the charm eye is his safe environment from his own past, which agree again that he can be easily manipulated (emperor princess) by anyone. I believe now that the princess had and used him to set up that girl that Makoto killed set up with that girl in the Picnic Rose Garden to become friends then had herself get killed by Makoto, so that this would cause a sort war between Makoto and the Garden and have him killed and his companions. I believe that the emperor has a plan for the kingdom Tsige or the Academy Town. But the plan to have Picnic Rose Garden to help succeeded so she might have another plan ready in case her 1st plan failed.

          3. Well the princess has proved so far to be one of the best informed characters of the series, and despite her crazyness, has shown a great deal of level headness, so If she could pull off things as your theory indicates, I am sure she would have. The problem is did she had all that info??? Did she had knowladge about the Adventures of Origin??? Did she knew the friend of the mindcontroled girl was with the mercenaries and that the mercenaries had a connection with the Adventures??? She having that information makes it believable that she planned all the things that happened, but I sincerely doubt she had it. Lets wait and see what the author reveals in the future.

          4. I totally agree. About how did she get that info, all we can do is guess where she got it from. Maybe it from an old book 1 of the Adventures of Origin wrote or she is being influence by the Goddess, Root (since his actives are a little suspicious lately) or a mysterious Hitogami (there has being a character that appeared that help both Tomoki and Hibiki during the demon invasion on the Kingdom). All we can do is wait to see what kind of answer the author will give us and looking forward to it.

  24. Thanks for the chapter. How the landscape change reminded me of the changing of the landscape like the LN “Accel World”. The Futsu talk about Root makes sound like that Makoto (I believe) will fight him in the near future. He has fought Root kind of once in the Demon Country when stop his ultimate attack from going wild. Root has kind of works in the shadows and I wonder he in someway is influence the Bug with her known about it. That charm eye is nothing about trouble, pretty much for the 2 hero’s everyone around them have become a yes man or woman to them and stuck ups. It reminded of Goosebumps episode where the girl made a wish to have the girl who was bullying her be nice to her and she overboard nice which kind of annoying. I kind of see that with the people around the 2 hero’s, but Tomoki is the worst 1. Sense his powers has grown and can overpower the Kingdom hero like the time they join forces to invaded the Demon fort and her companions were more influence by Tomoki charm eye then hers.

  26. “I simply thought that the Goddess and Root must be having quite the hard time with you. I personally don’t like the two of them, so from my point of view peeking at you from this side, you are the best. Please do drag them around to the brim of their patience. Yeah, without any restraint -thoroughly.” (Futsu)

What If chiya saw with mind eyes is actually futsu peeling outside?

  27. Thanks for the chapter.

Random thought, can Futsu use her soul related ability to learn things from the souls of the dead in her realm? If so she will know about Asora existing, even if it is the early days of it. She seems to have recognized that Makoto has insane levels of power but still doesn’t know the full extent of it. If she had learned about the events in the demon capital she would have known where the arms came from and would not have had to question Az-san about them.

    1. Im sure she can learn about souls of the dead. Thats why she has to talk to them and ask questions rather than already
None of them are dead they just happened to cross thr boundery between life and death while being alive. So as powerful as futsu is she cant use her powers over dead souls on the living even if they are in her realm

  28. I’m still waiting for the Lord that thought he could casually order Makoto’s disposal to die of humiliation at realization of his own insignificance.
Also the expressions on the guild staff when they see Makoto’s guild card resume contact, lol.
    Ahhhhh! More waiting!
    Thanks for the chapter of

P.S. Mantle is an idiot bimbo & the light goddess (as official wife) is gonna burn her ass off🔥

  29. I think that ryuumyaku should be translated as dragon vein instead of pulse, as it is like blood vein where you can draw power for the dragon.

  30. Most recent chapter of the manga shows what Rembrant was upto before he moved to Tsuge and the history of the one that cursed his wife and daughters.

    Was interesting, if dark, reading.

  31. Does anyone know what chapter was it when Makoto gave his followers his last name? Or the chapter when the followers talk about Makoto not valuing his own life?( I think Tomoe was worried he was going to enjoy killing and then Mio said basically that’s not going to happen cause he doesn’t value his life.) I keep trying but I can’t find it. T.T

    1. They talk about the way he values life in chapter 225 during the time he’s fighting the shrine maiden. There! Took me forever though… Lol

  32. a doubt, who is responsible for the translation of extra tsuki? because it has an extra 44 to translate it :(, if possible, when reikogai reach the raw world reformation, if it would be possible to start translating the extra (if he wishes of course), because he is practically part of the same universe as tsuki

  33. “Without meeting each other, without speaking with each other, without being in contact with each other; a disgusting thing to see and touch that has the power to cut into pieces the bonds between people and capsize it. In this Lorel, in this country that loves Wise, there’s no need for this disease.” (Futsu)
Words of wisdom i tell ya. That shows even more how much Trash is a Trash.

  34. Ok, Imma theory ramble a bit. It was stated as they approched Futsu that Futsu has been waiting for “Makoto” right? so it’s safe to assume tomoe being the primary is a lie. Now here’s where i get two paths. One is Futsu saw Makoto using princess sword-whose-name-i-forgot OR a more vaild reason why Tomoe’s hair became silver after Makoto gives power/ why Makoto is not as pretty as hyumans… get ready… What if Makoto is a vestige left in his parents by Fustu? Like Futsu’s version of Root’s Sophia, but just one space removed? That’s why Futsu said spirit and dead body… because Futsu has some “connection” with Makoto. Maybe even the reason they initially started wanting to leave their world was through Futsu’s design? What if all this time Futsu has been planning against the goddess using precognition? Even the drinks match up as coincidental clues. Azu gets white milk, while Futsu gets dark devil swamp brew(Chiya-san saw Makoto as a white shell with a dark thing lurking within). All things things click with me for some reason, and with the author getting more into plots and intrigue as the series goes then… oh well, it’s just a theory…

  35. Sooo… he doesnt want immortality but wants to live a short life is it??
and what will happen to asora once he dies??

  36. “Please do drag them around to the brim of their patience. Yeah, without any restraint -thoroughly.” (Futsu)
oooh good, very good Futsu, you earned my respect!

  37. “I’m gonna make you guys immortal but y’all can’t do nothin aight” why tf would anyone agree to that?
