Chapter 247: The strength of the assassins

TLN: I was more busy than expected! Phew, schedule will return to normal now… I hope.

“Uff, that really got me. That man was outrageously skilled.”

Directing her gaze at the three corpses, Akashi had sheathed her sword and was now scratching her head.

“Umu, rather than us, Iroha-sama would be safer with Raidou-dono. In that time, we will find the assassins and eliminate them. And by the time we return to Kannaoi, the situation should have been resolved.” (Shougetsu)

“After babysitting, we are now fishing. We have been way too busy lately, seriously.” (Akashi)

“Don’t say that.” (Shougetsu)

“‘Kay ‘kay.” (Akashi)

Akashi was talking with someone who is most likely her superior, Shougetsu, with words that were not really polite.

But there was no intention of going against him from her words, and it seems like she is properly accepting his orders and objectives. Leaving aside her speech and conduct, it can be seen that their relationship is good.

“Nei, sorry but, I leave the double of Iroha-sama to you.” (Shougetsu)

“Understood.”

After Shougetsu ordered this to the servant, one of the servants that was at the leftmost side responded and turns around.

In an instant, her appearance turned into that of Iroha with her princess clothes.

It was a splendid transformation.

Looking at that skillful display, it can be seen that this wasn’t the first time the girl called Nei has done this kind of job.

“…”

“What’s wrong, Yuduki? Since the time we saw him off, or more like, since the time he finished the assassins, you have been kind of strange, you know?” (Akashi)

Akashi asked this to her partner that has had a hand on her mouth and been completely silent since the time Raidou left.

Yuduki is not a person of many words to begin with, but Akashi felt that this time’s silence was strange.

“Your manner of speech was slightly bothering too. We at least made clear what was his standing but, was it not enough?” (Shougetsu)

Shougetsu also asked Yuduki after Akashi.

At the very least, in the current stage, Raidou is a beneficial person for them, and it is important to create a favourable relationship.

And yet, the attitude of Yuduki towards Raidou was not that gentle, and for her that normally adapts faster to situations than Akashi, this was a strange attitude.

Being pressured by the two, Yuduki finally opened her mouth.

“You two, after looking at these assassins and Raidou-dono…you didn’t feel anything?” (Yuduki)

“Anything, you say. I did say this just a few moments ago: ‘he is not your average person’. The assassins were also hiding their strength when they fought us, so honestly, if they were to fight us seriously, I did think it would have been bad.” (Akashi)

“Akashi, can you really call yourself the bodyguard of Iroha-sama with that kind of thinking?! That level of assassins, even if they are three, you alone can do something about it! In the first place, the young uns these days are lacking in training. Every single one of them just runs for the flashy skills.” (Shougetsu)

Since the moment Akashi heard the words: ‘the young uns these days’, she knew that Shougetsu had begun again with his blabber and sighed once.

Yuduki still maintained that meek expression, but had a small smile showing in her face.

“Shougetsu-sama, we will of course not neglect our training in the future either, but this time, Akashi has a point.” (Yuduki)

“Yuduki! You are saying something like that as well?!” (Shougetsu)

“These three, they were quite skilled. They had stealth techniques to erase their presence and real strength, and it is because it was Raidou-dono that he was able to deal with it in that kind of way, but…I don’t know if we would be able to hold them back even if we were in a one-on-one.” (Yuduki)

As Yuduki finished speaking, she closed her mouth and once again fell into pondering.

“What are you saying? Then, even if we were to add one more of you in your team, you wouldn’t be able to hold back Raidou-dono for even five seconds? Is that what you saying? You two are the bodyguards of a Kannaoi princess, don’t say something so pathetic.” (Shougetsu)

“…”

“…”

“Akashi, Yuduki?” (Shougetsu)

“…It is exactly as you say, Shougetsu-jisan. Even if we were to make a party, even if we were to face him with an army, we probably wouldn’t be able to stop him. Just saying but, we are on the level that we have been assigned as the bodyguards of the tenth princess with inheritance rights. But that wasn’t a level like that, it was on a completely different plane. Even if we were to gather all the power of Kannaoi -no, of all Lorel, we wouldn’t be able to defeat…that.” (Akashi)

“Shougetsu-sama, that person’s strength was not on the level of a Rotsgard teacher. The words of Akashi had no falsehood, they are her true feelings. I am also of the same opinion.” (Yuduki)

Akashi and Yuduki had answered Shougetsu as they shook their heads to the sides.

It is something they can’t do anything about, that’s the kind of face they were making.

“It is certainly true that his skills were splendid, but…I didn’t feel that much force in him though. I have seen my share of strong people too. Hm…” (Shougetsu)

“That’s something that you can only feel after getting actual experience, and can only feel when you are about to die. That feeling when you think: ‘ah, he was someone that I shouldn’t have fought with’.” (Akashi)

“These assassins, they should have been remarkable people that surpassed level 300.” (Yuduki)

“?!!! Three hu—what kind of stupidness are you spouting?” (Shougetsu)

“Here it is, her adventurer card. Geh, it seems like they were a lot higher than that, Yuduki. This is the first time I have seen the job ‘Shadowless’.” (Akashi)

Akashi searches for the card at the chest of one of the three and gives it to Shougetsu.

There, the numbers 420 were engraved on it.

At the job field, there’s ‘Shadowless’ written.

It was just as Makoto had guessed.

“420…isn’t that on the level of a country’s strongest? Why are such strong people aiming for Iroha-sama…?” (Akashi)

“They have the ability to assassinate any prince or princess if they wanted to. No, putting it straight, they are not people that would fall to being assassins.” (Yuduki)

“Not only that, they properly have a family name and a family crest engraved… Could this be…someone from Gritonia?” (Shougetsu)

“I can’t tell that much, but honestly, if two or more assassins of the same level were to appear, I don’t think that the two of us alone would be able to do anything about it.” (Yuduki)

“This degree of internal problems, could it be that there’s a plot from foreign countries involved in this as well?” (Shougetsu)

The Osakabe princess, Iroha, is certainly being targeted by assassins.

It is something that can be sufficiently possible.

But assassins also have targets they aim for that have a suitable status for their level.

A level 420 is without doubt among the highest in terms of assassins.

This is the kind of people that the Limia kingdom and the Gritonia empire would send when they want to eliminate their targets with certainty.

These are not assassins someone would send, even if by mistake, to kill an influential noble of Lorel, and on top of that, a young princess that has low chances of succeeding the family.

“Ah, so that’s why Yuduki had fallen silent. It was because maybe Iroha-sama -no, not only her, us as well, have been involved in an unexpected conspiracy, right?” (Akashi)

*Pon*

Akashi hits her clenched right fist onto her left palm.

“That’s not it.” (Yuduki)

“Eh? It is not?” (Akashi)

“Not only 300, they were monsters on the level of over 400, and they had a job like ‘Shadowless’ which might even be able to assassinate dragons; I certainly was surprised by that, but that’s a small thing…compared to what we currently have on our hands.” (Yuduki)

“Is it small? I think that’s pretty important though. Assassinating dragons, if publicized well, military officers would be all over the place, you know?” (Akashi)

“What I mean is that compared to that man, Raidou, this is something small.” (Yuduki)

“Raidou huh. I don’t think he is that much of a problem, you know. He seemed like a guy that could be spoken with, and he is strong, as an ally, he is reliable. In the first place, he crushed those Shadowless. Isn’t that impressive? But well, he did defeat them so easily that thanks to that, Shougetsu-jisan ended up getting angry at us though.” (Akashi)

“Mugh…” (Shougetsu)

Receiving the gaze of Akashi, Shougetsu shuts his mouth.

Now that he has seen the adventurer card, he couldn’t scold Akashi.

No matter how easy of a danger it was to wipe them out, in normal circumstances, it wouldn’t have been strange if they were all dead by now. This is something that he could understand.

“The problem is that very misunderstanding of Shougetsu-sama.” (Yuduki)

“What do you mean by that?” (Shougetsu)

As if escaping from the gaze of Akashi, Shougetsu questions Yuduki.

“Raidou dealt with those three way too easily. With only that, you should be able to understand that a strong person has shown their power, and yet…” (Yuduki)

“Fumu.” (Shougetsu)

“Shougetsu-sama didn’t feel that much power from him. That was the same for me though.” (Yuduki)

“That’s true. The peculiar presence that strong people give out…I didn’t feel anything like that from him. He is working as a merchant, so I thought it was because of that, but is it a type of stealth technique?” (Shougetsu)

“Yeah. He is most likely using some special method to conceal his ability. And in reality, I saw him fighting with magic, but I didn’t feel any spells or the preparation of them at all.” (Yuduki)

“That’s true. Now that you mention it, I wasn’t able to feel at all how much magic power he had.” (Shougetsu)

“That’s why, in our eyes, we ended up seeing the merchant Raidou-dono as a reasonably strong teacher of Rotsgard Academy that was able to deal with three assassins. Being able to conceal such high strength with a concealment technique, is one of my fears.” (Yuduki)

“Fear huh.” (Shougetsu)

A complicated expression appears on Shougetsu.

Even though they have made a cooperative relationship with Raidou just a few moments ago, they already have people in their camp that have minus emotions.

“And the other one, it leads to what I unconsciously said to him but…that heart…” (Yuduki)

“Heart?” (Akashi)

Akashi repeated what Yuduki said.

That’s because Akashi couldn’t understand the meaning of Yuduki fearing his heart.

“Killing three people without a single change from his usual self. Don’t you think that’s impossible, Akashi?” (Yuduki)

“Hey hey, they were enemies, you know? Of course that depends on the experience, but he was most likely used to being attacked. It is certainly true that, for a merchant, he was a bit too calm but…” (Akashi)

Reprimanding someone for killing enemies without any conflicting feelings, that’s what shouldn’t be done.

It is a fight with people that are aiming for your life.

First time, second, third; it may be slowly, but people get used to being attacked and fighting back.

Akashi was pointing out exactly that.

“It was different from being accustomed. You and I, if they are enemies, we will of course cut down our enemies without hesitation. But at those moments, our bodies and hearts become that of someone that kills others.” (Yuduki)

“…”

“…Fuh… You see, killing someone as naturally as breathing, as doing casual talk, as going to bed; that’s not something that someone would normally be able to do, right?” (Yuduki)

“Yeah, I probably wouldn’t be able to relax to that extent. I do still have that nature in me.” (Akashi)

“That’s right. That’s how it normally should be. That’s why, when Raidou was attacked, he was supposed to stand up, prepare to fight, and should have let out killing intent from his eyes and whole body, right?” (Yuduki)

“Well, that should be the case……. Eh?” (Akashi)

“I was observing him, but he didn’t show any signs of that. He was sitting and was exactly in the same state as he was when talking with Shougetsu-sama and us. Without showing a bit of fighting spirit and killing intent, he confirmed the attackers, and killed them. He looked at the assassins, and decided to fight them -no, to kill them, and that’s how he did it.” (Yuduki)

She didn’t feel the normal reactions a person should have when faced with a fight from Raidou.

Yuduki had seen a nature that she has never seen in the past.

“…”

“Within the super first rate adventurers, I have heard that there are people that are always on their top gear level of concentration. This probably can also be applied to people that are always in the battlefield. Being in your top gear of concentration, for a normal person, they would only be able to maintain that state for several minutes at most, so in order to do this, you would have to face quite the training.” (Yuduki)

Whether it is in battle or in a match, it is obviously difficult to maintain your highest level of concentration.

If replicated in your everyday life, it would make it even more difficult.

“…”

“But it was also different from that. He did it so smoothly -no, he probably finished the fight before he even entered a battle state of mind. That’s why we were unable to properly grasp what had happened a few moments ago. Sorry, I am also unable to properly express what’s in my mind.” (Yuduki)

Yuduki not only fulfills the role of a warrior, she also has the job of seeing through people, appraise them, and evaluate them.

That’s exactly why she is able to observe many people and evaluate their characteristics.

This is something that Shougetsu, Akashi, and Iroha trust.

But right now, a person that even her eyes are unable to understand has appeared.

A strong person that was able to wipe out three remarkable assassins while still sitting and as if it was nothing. And yet, he is a merchant that they couldn’t feel any traces of being a combatant.

Yuduki herself was still unable to grasp the person called Raidou.

“A fight that’s not a fight…as if breathing. Hm, I don’t get it.” (Akashi)

On the other hand, Akashi who had heard the words of Yuduki seemed like she didn’t understand it much.

Her impression of Raidou was that as long as they don’t cause any problem, he wouldn’t be hostile towards them. It wasn’t such a complicated matter.

“Right. Once I finish sorting it out, I will speak of it again. And so, Shougetsu-sama, just as you said, it is certainly true that having Iroha-sama in the care of Raidou-dono is the number one safest choice.” (Yuduki)

“Un, yeah.” (Shougetsu)

Shougetsu was also thinking about the origin of this conspiracy.

The words of Yuduki returned him to his senses, and he pays attention to what she has to say.

“Is that really okay?” (Yuduki)

“What do you mean by that?” (Shougetsu)

“Something about Raidou-dono is…different. Is it really fine to leave Iroha-sama at his side?” (Yuduki)

“Are you saying that he will be a bad influence?” (Shougetsu)

“Honestly speaking, it is an anxiety that maybe Iroha-sama will end up changing.” (Yuduki)

“It can’t be helped if she were to change to a certain extent. In the first place, if we are talking about that, then her fiance, Izumo Ikusabe, has already been influenced quite a lot by him after all. Whatever the case, in the future, he is a factor that we won’t be able to avoid anyways.” (Shougetsu)

“Izumo-sama…that’s true. Then, are you saying that she already has resistance towards his influence while in their travel to Kannaoi?” (Yuduki)

“Yeah. Also, Iroha-sama is a sagacious princess. Even if she were to have an interest in someone she doesn’t know, she won’t idolize them. More the case if they are only going to be together for a short amount of time. Believing in the princess in this kind of moments, isn’t that how loyalty works?” (Shougetsu)

“…Understood.” (Yuduki)

“I will be expecting things from your trained eyes in the future as well, but the situation seems to be a bit different from what we expected. Currently, we have no choice but to rely on him. With that into consideration, I am counting on you.” (Shougetsu)

“Yes.”

“Akashi as well, the journey from tomorrow on, I expect much from you. Even if they are skilled individuals, if it is you guys, I believe that you can manage.” (Shougetsu)

Shougetsu looked at the two bodyguards with a wide smile as if looking at his own granddaughters.

“Well, we will try to manage with our lives on the line.” (Akashi)

“I will do my best.” (Yuduki)

“Good grief, not only inside our country, to think we would be involved in a conspiracy from a foreign country as well. I can’t even get a comfortable retirement after reaching this age. The world is not kind to old people anymore.” (Shougetsu)

Contrary to his words, the old man’s spine was straightened which was seldom seen nowadays, and was brimming with vitality.

The girls that were looking at him had a troubled smile, and obeying Shougetsu who was walking at the front, they left the place.

Raidou is aiming for the labyrinth.

And as if welcoming him, a blood-stench strife had both arms wide open.

The moment Lorel learns of Kuzunoha Company…was close to coming.

Spoiler-san will attack from behind… when that Nepu runs outta ammo!

          1. I didn’t say I’m going to hit you or Spoiler-san.
I said I’ll attack from behind. That’s all. Who I’m attacking is a secret.

  2. To Makoto, killing someone and greeting someone is on the same level it seems. Seems like this is not an issue of being a psychopath, he clearly knows what he is doing is wrong and can feel it. Or at least he used to feel it. His true nature, I feel his talent is indifference. The ability to detach oneself from one’s emotons and morality.

    1. If its abt what yuduki said abt 1st rate advanturers can enter a constant state of concentration. Makoto is actually within that catagory. The reason would be that he is constantly clad himself with the magic armor. Powerful, precise magic control and overwhelming magic pool is needed to create and maintain it. even root says he can only create a smaller version that last at most ~12 mins.

      1. Huh…that’s a good point.

But if so, then what is his “concentration mode” he uses when he shoots the bow? Or is it exactly because he’s already in a constant state of battle concentration that the ability to enter an even deeper state is impressive?

Like a person that’s constantly wearing weighted equipment doing heavy lifting compared to a normal person lifting the weight of his restraints?

      2. for me the Materia Prima concentration already in the level of ‘normal breathing’ for Makoto i think, and the “Bow Concentration” is the Battle Mode

      3. Makoto has two levels of concentration… a normal and a battle mode, it’s just that… his normal mode is way above the common high ranking adventurer’s battle mode, allowing him to be able to maintain his armor and deal with your average high ranking assassin, while the battle mode… he is at a level of forcing a goddess of war… no one of the most renowned goddesses of war to show about 50% of her combat ability

      4. the bow mode would be transcendent to what ANYONE should be able to do even the gods I believe.

      5. I think you’re mistaking abit between Con and Power level lol (beside, he’s way stronger now compare to then). A more ap comparision about that 2nd mode is his non-existenceness, be-one-with-nature thing he perform when using bow.

    2. more like the level of threat is so below what can wound him and after killing so many people he just doesn’t care anymore

    3. It could just be how thorough his martial arts instructors were, in preparing him for modern combat, and he noticed they weren’t people anymore, the charm to deeply ingrained.

    4. I think you guys have it all backwards. He didn’t enter a state of concentration because he didn’t need to to defeat his opponents. We’ve seen what hes like when hes concentrating and angry. Never forget door-kun.

    5. Makoto properly considered first before killing them it’s just his thought process was so fast it appeared he didn’t hesitate to Yuduki but if you read the chapter from Makotos point of view we see he properly thought it out. Once he figured out that they were just puppets of Tomoki and thus there was no way of talking with them he knew the only course of action was to kill them to get them to stop. And truthfully he did feel bad about it hence why he then prayed for them afterwards.

      1. Oh, wow. It took some rereading for me to notice, but Makoto actually did intend to spare them(for interrogation, but spare nonetheless) until he realized they were brainwashed. I guess that was more of a mercy kill than I thought.

Cheers for pointing it out for me.

  3. Woo! The weekend is over and now we get a new chapter. Thanks again Reigokai.

And now, we get to see the outcome of Makoto’s…justified self-defense?

    1. What self-defence…. my interpretation of his action is to eliminate troublesome thing quick and irritation towards their master is fueling his quick decisions.

those girl can use al thier mana to the point of exhaustion and Makoto will stay still without moving an inch from the seat,

But yeah I also curious what they gonna do after this, that Yuduki smells like trouble… much more like Hibiki…

  4. Iroha-sama is a sagacious princess. Even if she were to have an interest in someone she doesn’t know, she won’t idolize them

    lol what about Tomoe

    1. I guess she thinks she knows Tomoe better than she actually does. Something like attaching her name to the warriors of legend in stories she loves?

    2. They don’t know about it, let them think she still the same princess they know.
All Tomoe needs to do is acting like proper onee-sama (yuri action) and I’m sure she can trained as Tomoe loyal slave.

  5. So it seems like Makoto’s evaluation of these three are about right.

Akashi is straightforwardly simple, which makes it much easier for him to get along with. Shougetsu is more politician than warrior, and has to focus on how to “use” people as well as things like images. And Yuduki the “evaluator”, just has a Rona-esque incompatible personality, but at least has the wise judgement to keep her out of his hair.

Though to be honest, more than anything, I’m surprised it’s “the moment Lorel learns of Kuzunoha company is coming”, which seems a bit late to the party.

    1. They still think they invited in one merchant, with a couple high level bodyguards, and haven’t noticed that more of the Kuzunoha are in their country or that the merchant is the most dangerous physically/tangibly/materially existence.

      1. Technically he is not merchant though… he is walking bomb/raijuu/bad luck magnet, nothing good will come if you try to using them via improper channel. The backlash of Kuzunoha wrath are not so simple that one or two head will settle the matters, especially with Mio around.

          1. Ah…. that’s right….
The merchant is only a thin cover when you finally see what is inside you won’t see him as just as merchant anymore

    2. Yeah, and I personally like how Akashi ends up with the actual correct conclusion when it comes to how to deal with Makoto. Don’t cause him problems, don’t antagonize him, and he will never be a threat to you. Fear of the unknown is what has made every other character so far(outside of those in Asora and Kuzunoha and his students and Rembrantl’s family) fail to understand him and led them to commit mistakes and make the wrong moves toward Makoto. They want to control and figure out completely the unknown factor called Makoto/Raidou out of fear due to said factor having too many unknown elements. That is the foundation of their mistakes.

    3. They should just leave him be instead of wanting to have everything under absolute control. And this perspective makes it so that they are unable to perceive the actual solution. Just coveting him and those close to him, antagonizing him, plotting in matters related to him, etc… those are the things that shouldn’t be done. Instead, you should just have either a friendly relationship with him or just no associate with him at all(leaving him to his things).

Even though Akashi has yet to fully understand the scale of Makoto, she still managed to understand what kind of person he is.

    4. As such, Makoto is a case for which overthinking leads to disaster while “normal” thinking leads to “normal” relationships without disaster being upon you. (I’m not counting people who simply “think” in the wrong way without overthinking(like Trashmoki).)

  6. I love it when they mention that they couldnt feel any spell from Raidou. I guess from their point of view what Makoto did was the equivalent of blowing up someone’s head with wind pressure. Beating someone up by punching them with pure magic power is really common sense breaking.

    1. They don’t know he’s chantless, nor did they notice the Materia Prima, totally mysterious how two were crushed and one blown away in the same instant. Without hearing any magic words.

    2. You cannot sense something that almost instantaneously fired.
Or example we cannot see the bullet, but we can see the shadow of thrown stone, it was that much difference of level between normal magic and Raido brid.

  7. “The moment Lorel learns of Kuzunoha Company…was close to coming.”

GG, they’ll learn, that you shouldn’t even think about using Raidou, let alone antagonize him.

    1. Caped Baldie is a part-time shero. Makoto don’t even want to be a hero. Not after what the Bug did to him and seeing how weak and badly behaved the heroes can be.

  8. unusually many awkward sentences in this chapter, while they might be technically correct they are odd.

like “top gear” rather then “peak performance” or “in the zone”, while i understood what it meant it’s not something I’ve actually heard before, since he’s not a vehicle and that’s the only connections i have with the term. but i’m no English professor so i might be wrong.

Another one was at the very end “Was close to coming” it’s super awkward and weird, the most common synonym are “was rapidly approaching”, but there are probably lots of ways to say it that does not sound as it was directly drawn out of a machine translation.

    1. can’t edit my own comment but i missed a comma at the 2nd paragraph and it make it a bit hard to read, sorry about that, it slipped my notice.

  9. The moment Lorel learns of Kuzunoha Company…was close to coming.

    wow wow wow
    ——————————
well if you were kidnapped by a trash goddess, then dropped from the sky, to a barren land, then having to face a mamono, then demons then a dragon… then the calamity spider, and so on… it wouldn’t be weird to develop a state when you can do battle to death without blinking an eye…

    1. Agreed about Akashi, she seems like a nice girl, Yuduki is so so, but still wouldn’t want any female to met Trashmoki unless they are invulnerable to his charm and can beat the crap outta him

      1. Yuduki is gives the same vibes as Hibiki….. I can only pray she didn’t foolish enough to attempt to test raido power level by throwing stone at him, and also did not try to use him for her dirty work…. if that happens, forget about family feud, they won’t have any country left to fight for.

  10. “Yeah. Also, Iroha-sama is a sagacious princess. Even if she were to have an interest in someone she doesn’t know, she won’t idolize them” Oh how they wish that was true.

  11. “The moment Lorel learns of Kuzunoha Company…was close to coming.” Sounds like how DBZ and GT use to end each episode. Just need the “next time on TgM”.

  12. I like Akashi. She’s straightforward. Definitely the kind of person who can get along with Makoto… if Tomoe and Mio were to consent to it, of course. Still, hope Makoto cleans the floor with Trashmoki before he has the chance to even meet her. I really hope so, because I believe tgat if she were to fell in the charm, and Trashmoki were to sned her after Makoto, he would kill her without minding one bit…
Thanks for the chapter Reigokai! (〜 ̄▽ ̄)〜

    1. Yeah, that’s the scariest thing about Makoto’s ruthless mode. He seems to get along with Akashi fairly well and have a pleasant opinion of her.

But we would sooner see Mio snub him than Makoto hesitate even a second to decide he should crush her head and do so.

      1. Yeah, that’s right. Still, going by that last part of the chapter, things are about to go down. With a bit of luck, Trashmoki will be getting his ass crushed and handed back to him soon.

Well, it’s Makoto, so I think things will turn for the worse before he do something. Can’t wait to see Sairitz (dunno if that was her name, I forgot) reaction when sheel sees she fucked up.

  13. Thanks 4 the chapter!

Could be to Makoto, killing them was like squashing a pest. I don’t think much when I squash a cockroach.
Rats, I have some hesitation before killing, but cockroaches, no. It seems natural to squash cockroaches.

    1. Should see some of my classmates. They freak out when cockroaches flew. They show variety of emotions mainly kill it before it lay eggs.

    2. you’d do it out of disgust though, still, an easy to read emotion. he, on the other hand, could hold a conversation with a guy and stab him in the heart 3seconds later without changing the flow of the conversation

    3. Really? I hesitate to squish even pests. Mainly because the idea of their corpses gross me out.

Ironically, this means I hesitate less to cause them more painful “out of sight, out of mind” deaths like heat and starvation.

  14. I’m not sure how but the author keeps adding new characters to the story with out anything new really happening that couldn’t be explained just as well in one paragraph. Its just a cycle of MC goes to a place >> problem happens, MC solves problem by being OP >>> people talk about how OP, scary, and emotionless MC is.

  15. More and more people are realizing the nature and absolutely terrifying worth of the kuzunoha company… I can’t wait to see what the author have in mind for our beloved common sense-chan breaker. I myself have some interesting theory about how Makoto and his followers could end up, but surely I won’t be able to execute these ideas of mind into proper words… since I am an amateur… sadly…

    Well…

    Thank you for the chappy!

    1. Didn’t we already cover that a crossover would be Makoto giving away his overgushing magic power and Satou repaying him with really good Japanese food?

Oh, and they save the worlds from eldritch monsters or something too, I guess.

    2. Dude d o you want to end that world satou is planet crusher level and makoto is in plane of creation those two are technicaly GODS i even bet that satou can fight makoto while cooking and while makoto fight back with out sweating

  16. Thank you for the chapter!

My crappy internet makes me unable to comment earlier … (when I log-in this site, there was like 9 comments only).

Wow, only one battle against assassins and they can already gauge Makoto’s ruthlessness. ‘Killing as easy as breathing’? I don’t know if their opinion of him is right or wrong, but that sounds awfully similar to Hibiji’s assessment of Makoto in earlier chapter.

    1. It was scary that they could analyze him so mutch in such a shoort time interval, but I guess thats pros for you. Although id nice to see smart characters that haven’t appeared so far.

  17. i think makoto have a talent like nagisa(assasination classroom) but on higher tier or he’s really a sociopath

    1. Mh, he’s not really anti-social though. Perhaps it’s closer to low level psychopathy?

I wonder if Makoto will ever refine his armor by imbuing it with passive spell commands to form actual spell shields. As is it’s just like a mass of clay, unshaped and un-fired by an aria. The mechanics of magic aren’t. . . terribly well defined in this story. Especially for magic tools, though most of the ones we’ve seen thus are items imbued with spirits.

      1. 1.psychopaths have a “lack of realistic long-term goals,” while the PPI describes them as showing a “carefree nonplanness.”
2.“very low tolerance to frustration and a low threshold for discharge of aggression, including violence.”
3.psychopaths have extremely high thresholds for disgust, as measured by their reactions when shown disgusting photos of mutilated faces and when exposed to foul odors

        https://www.psychologytoday.com/blog/mindmelding/201301/what-is-psychopath-0

It’s scary that makoto, on some level fit with the description.

  18. Thx for the chapter o/
now if only we had a Tomoki PV to see him shiting bricks while Kuzunoha employs starting attacking his soldiers

  19. i want to know if makoto will dicover more about him self and that cold mind of him
i also want him to get involved with the tamaki and finding about his talent
his real talent is not archery but somthing else i want to know what it is
if you are wondering wbout what i speak about the author give us some hints you have to see them and analyse them
like when one of the gods said to him you have to absorbe what is inside of you
that is one of the hints and there is more there is also the talk in one of the povs that he have only one talent and that he tunr his ayes from it

  20. RIP in pieces weed assasin, may she blaze undisturbed in her next life, free from the machinations of insecure brats.

  21. Regokai-sama as always thank you so mutch for the delivery of the chapter. Is always good to see how deep people analyse an anomaly like Makoto in this series. By the way what kind of training did Tomoi put those girls to level up them so mutchor that has something to do with the experiments carried in the Gritonia Empire???

  22. I really wish Raidou would atk east once show his strength to another one, I mean without concealIng it with sakai :/

    1. If he unleash his true power, the people left to see his action are probably only root and the hero, I can imagine it will propbably takes at least sofia level to just stand in front of Makoto wothout fainting now, remember ever since the incident with sofia Shiva telling him to continue his daily bow training to increase his magic capacity, heck If his sakai are not present I bet those draupnir will be broken in instant.

  23. Wait… what…. I did pray this morning….
    It cant be…. I definitely press f5 this morning…. why ….. why…

    Thanks for the chapter

  24. They are seemingly over exaggerating how rare killing without feeling is. Yes it is rare but as a high level guard she must have at some point in time seeing someone else like that just not as strong or smooth. Plus with the proper epiphany and large enough hole in your fucks basket killing without feeling anything ain’t hard

    1. Soldier feels pride or excitement from defending the country, serial killer feels excitement from the action of killing, but they only feel indifference like robot which is the scary part. From outside, its kinda like a checklist running (Enemy? yes, able to spare? no, troublesome to kill? not really. Ok, kill)

      1. That sequence! It exactly how I imagine Makoto thought process.
        Well Makoto is… unique I guess ?
If he really is psychopath he won’t have that much attachment to asora and it’s residence, if he is not psychopath he won’t be that calm when taking others life….
Or it waybe a side effect of his talent, I don’t know…. only time will tell…

        1. See, he gets attached to people and places, which I’m pretty sure disqualifies him from the official definition of psychopath.

At the same time, there are moments where he can’t be called anything but psychopathic. I guess it’s more like he has the ability to seamlessly turn psychopathy…on? Or, as the case may be, off.

  25. Hm, stray thought here – Remember Root mentioning the agent of the Goddess – Imadai – back in CH 140? Is there any chance Tamaki is that agent and is acting as a Trojan horse of sorts?

    1. No, she formed a master contract with Makoto.
She can somewhat deceive, but never betray her Master. It creates a bond of absolute obedience & loyalty.
Waka-sama allows his servants (slaves) way more freedom then is intended by this format of contracting. Mostly bc he doesn’t view them as the absolute slaves which that level of contract makes them.
Even Tomoe & Mio-chan frequently seen plots (which often involve torturing/intimidating other servants into obedience) are all in what they believe is the benefit Makoto.
No matter how much he inwardly panics when tricked into a mixed bath, lol.

      1. That’s assuming the contract magic itself is inviolable though. The contract formed with Shiki proved that that’s not entirely the case. Like, what would happen if Shen had split off one of her clones and contracted it to someone less powerful than herself as a whole? If she recombined with that clone later would she still be under the same level of contract?

      2. That’s a lot of assumption but based on available information, not sure. There are multiple occassions where it seems like they also share information on subsconcious level and Shen is sharing thoughts also with her clones. even though she has her own personality. There are probably holes though in that the contractee has been brainwashed so thorough that they sincerely thought its for the benefit of Makoto (kinda like perception and thought interference) but I’m assuming any kind of that brainwashing will be washed away by Makoto’s magic power during contract ceremony and currently she does not have the chance to reestablish brainwash since she’s trapped in Asora

    1. It’s okay. Love is for all. You can be a boy, and love another boy… or girl… or your parent… or your pet. : )
Just , don’t be an old man and love little girls.

      #notouch

  26. Reigokai-sama.
    Long time no see….
Well, if you remember that is~
The long term(used to) Passerby has return!(thou no one remembers)
    Thanks for the chapters~
After abandoning Tsuki for Months and Months, I finally come back and re-read the whole thing up till now.
I feel sad… Like there are like 20+ chapters left… But I didn’t regret taking a long break from Tsuki (I probably won’t able to stand some of the Cliffhangers)
When Iroha is Osakube…. I knew immediately she is Izumo’s fiance… After all, the flag has been raised by Izumo himself~
So many flags has been raised and yet… It’s something I can only read from the light novel(because the web is in hiatus) the saddest part isn’t because I can’t read Japanese (I’m learning btw)
My country doesn’t sell Tsuki, even in Kunokuniya…..OTZ
But I manage to get the first volume from Japan thou 🙂
3_3 I guess I will have to order them online from now on…T_T
Sorry for the long and draggy stuff. I feel so happy being here again.
    Cheers!

    1. (Innocent) Passerby ! You’re back !
Where did you go this past few months? Another world ?

It… it’s not my fault you got hit, I mean, thrown to another world. All an accident.

      1. ?!
        Truck-kun…
        You…You remember me?!
        Eh, eh, eh?!
I have been told that most will forget….
        So… You are a irregular, huh….

  27. hi Reigokai-san!
just an inquiry, but isn’t “Yuduki” supposed to be “Yuzuki”?
I was taught they don’t really use “du” anymore,
but I didn’t check the actual text so…just wondering ):3

  28. To me kill the Empire’s dog hero already. He’s a cockroach to Raidou ascendant to godhood. A guy like that would never change as the same goes in the real world when in touch with power can be quickly drown in greed, became so arrogant and never never change it’s disgusting mind.
    That guy should really die!!

  29. Re-reading here.

I have to say, people overcomplicate things. It seems like the smart people are too smart and so they get on or will get on Makoto’s bad side.

“Raidou huh. I don’t think he is that much of a problem, you know. He seemed like a guy that could be spoken with, and he is strong, as an ally, he is reliable.” (Akashi)

This is LITERALLY the way to ‘deal’ with Makoto. DON’T PISS HIM OFF! But for some reason people overcomplicate it. Yeah, Makoto can kill easily. But he doesn’t do it for no reason, don’t give him a reason to kill you and you’ll get along well.

    1. I mean, that’s kinda like saying a nuclear bomb won’t explode if you don’t arm it.

It’ll still make you uncomfortable being anywhere near one on a daily basis, wouldn’t it?

  30. Thanks for your hardwork.

I hope the author doesn’t turn him into a mindless killed, that would be incredibly boring.
