Chapter 231: Whirling banquet

Sponsored Chapter

Late at night.

The time when the sound of the town stopped and Tsige finally entered silence.

Even so, in this town that has lately been called as a nightless town, there’s still places where the liveliness still continues.

At the very least, this room where only one man is in, is wrapped in silence.

That man is Patrick Rembrandt.

The big company that everyone recognizes in Tsige, the owner of Rembrandt company.

“…”

Rembrandt was still silent. His eyes were going through the mountain of papers that were piled up on his desk.

With his left hand, he took the papers, and with his right hand, he holds a pen he uses to write sometimes.

It goes without saying that what he is currently pondering in his head is about the information of Aion kingdom and Tsige.

And this is the most recent information he has received from the eyes and ears that Rembrandt company has placed in the several areas.

Of course, there’s always new information coming to his place everyday.

In this moment when they are trying to take advantage of the revolution to gain independence in Tsige, he is technically the central figure, so he has been living days where sleep is precious.

“…Fumu. There’s still rough areas but…the path has been made.” (Rembrandt)

If this were the representative of Kuzunoha company, he would have already been drowned in information a long time ago and escaped from reality with this amount of work.

It is an amount that even if a miracle happens, arranging it all would be his limit.

But Rembrandt who has his wit and experience, secures a small amount of sleep everyday by properly grasping the situation, and has already finished his insight regarding the revolution of Aion kingdom and independence of Tsige.

“You are being quite cautious.”

“…Well well, I am astonished. To think that you were someone who didn’t show any manners when entering a room, I really didn’t expect that.” (Rembrandt)

“It seems to be called a ‘surprise’. I learned this from Raidou-sama.”

The sudden visitor responded to the sarcasm of Rembrandt who was pointing out her lack of common sense.

It is certainly true that visiting late at night without any prior appointment is quite rude.

It is not something that can be forgiven by just saying it is a surprise.

“Do you think that will make me consent, Sairitz-sama? Coming late at night without even knocking, and obviously, no appointment. That’s nothing but a trespasser.” (Rembrandt)

“That’s true. I apologize for the rudeness. I am truly sorry. But, don’t you think that we should get to know each other more, Patrick-sama?” (Sairitz)

The young woman that’s called Sairitz, warded off the the sharp gaze and words of Rembrandt, and gave him a flirtatious glance with a glossy tone.

She is from the a neighboring country of Aion, Lorel Union, moreover, a person in an influential position.

Thinking about her position, she is currently taking an unbelievably dangerous action.

“I think you already understand what we both need though.” (Rembrandt)

On the other hand, Rembrandt didn’t break his usual attitude.

He simply waits for the next words of Sairitz.

“Ara, even though you are going to be doing the same shrewd acts you committed in the past, you are being quiet frank. It seems like the image I knew of you is slightly different now.” (Sairitz)

“You intend to show me the power of Lorel Union’s information gathering, and place pressure on me? Even if I show the ability I had in the past, it would be unnatural to maintain the same personality as that time. You have already investigated that much, so don’t joke around.” (Rembrandt)

“You only have eyes for your wife and daughter huh. I can’t help but view this as strange in my eyes. Matching your history and personality, it may be slight, but it feels like something is out of place. We are in a relationship where we will become comrades. I wouldn’t do something like this just because of a small sense of discomfort of mine. That’s one of the reasons of my invitation just now though.” (Sairitz)

“You are saying that if we were to unite our bodies, we would be able to trust each other? Well…I will admit that it is a valid method when in a complicity. But that’s a delusion that only works between one individual and the other. It is not something I would expect the empress of Lorel would do at all.” (Rembrandt)

“…”

“The scale of this matter is way too big to apply. I don’t know what’s making you so impatient, but if you need someone to consult with, depending on the case, I might be able to help.” (Rembrandt)

“Good grief. I have been incredibly hurt as a woman, but I now understand that you truly love your wife and family. Even if I knew that my objective would be achieved no matter where the dice rolled, it still hurts. I will restrain from doing so in the future.” (Sairitz)

Sairitz speaks out words that can be taken as giving up.

It was an attitude that one can tell that the discomfort she had of Rembrandt inside her head  had vanished.

“Seriously. If my wife were to have even slight suspicions about it, my daily life would become the worst. You seem to have already noticed, but I would like you to completely stop these kind of methods that only bring risks to me.” (Rembrandt)

While sighing, Rembrandt reprimanded the behaviour of Saritz.

It can’t be helped.

Late at night, in the room where he is supposed to be doing work and already had his butler leave, there’s a young woman.

It is clearly a situation that’s unprofitable for the man.

“This matter is incredibly important for Lorel as well after all. Even if it is my personal impression, I still wanted to confirm the uncertain factor I felt. I am in a situation where I can’t even touch the highest uncertain factor which is the Kuzunoha company you see.” (Sairitz)

“Kuzunoha and Raidou-dono are quite simple existences. It is not like I don’t understand how you feel, but those guys return sincerity with sincerity, and fang with fang. They move with a truly simple logic.” (Rembrandt)

“There are times when it is fearsome not knowing just how far that simple logic can go. Especially for someone like me who is involved with the health of my country.” (Sairitz)

“Well, it probably can go real far. It is truly a nice sensation.” (Rembrandt)

“As a person that follows the religion of the Goddess, and serves the Spirits, this is something someone like you can’t understand.” (Sairitz)

This time, Sairitz was the one who sighed, and then returned words of criticism at Rembrandt.

“Hahahaha! You can’t understand huh. And yet, you have offered cooperation and are trying to make the Kuzunoha company owe you. You said before that it didn’t matter where it rolled, but with that kind of principle in your actions, you still possess this much ability in making decisions. You are truly a fearsome one.” (Rembrandt)

“Not as much as you. Even if you had to discard your everything, the common sense that you believed in, you concentrated on Raidou-dono. That’s truly the borderline of madness.” (Sairitz)

“No no. Contrary to expectations, we might actually be more similar than you think. That’s why, leaving aside trust, I am able to believe in you. I highly value that stubbornness of yours, and I can believe in your judgment as well.” (Rembrandt)

“…I also…believe in your madness…and the conviction that supports it. That conviction of never betraying Kuzunoha company no matter what happens. That’s why someone like me,who wants to avoid confronting them, is able to believe in you.” (Sairitz)

“Seriously. In other words, there’s absolutely no problems. We…” (Rembrandt)

“‘Can form a good relationship’, right?” (Sairitz)

“Yeah.” (Rembrandt)

“Understood. I am sorry for interrupting your silent night. I once again apologize, Patrick-sama.” (Sairitz)

“Don’t mind it. Next time, I ask that you make a proper appointment beforehand, but I will welcome you. Ah right. Since we have the chance, is it okay to ask you one other thing?” (Rembrandt)

“Of course. Ask me.” (Sairitz)

“I had some slight doubts regarding your actions and proposal you see. I wonder, just what kind of existence is a priestess for you?” (Rembrandt)

“…So you went for that.” (Sairitz)

“Being one-sidedly shown the information gathering abilities of Lorel, felt unfair you see.” (Rembrandt)

Rembrandt obviously had gathered information of Sairitz as well.

Saying: ‘Regarding your actions and proposal’, was only an excuse.

It is because he had gathered information of Sairitz that he felt doubts about her.

Rembrandt had questioned her about one of them.

“…For me, that personage is…” (Sairitz)

“‘That personage is…’” (Rembrandt)

“A sister, a daughter, and also a monarch as well. No…that’s not it.” (Sairitz)

“…”

The words that were slowly tied together by Sairitz, Rembrandt waited for them in silence.

“She is most likely…someone that we…want to protect no matter what.” (Sairitz)

And then, the revised words of hers made the eyes of Rembrandt show a light of surprise.

“Hoh~. For the empress, the priestess is obviously an important existence, but when I probed into it, I thought she was an existence that could be replaced.” (Rembrandt)

“Replaced? It is certainly true that it is essentially that way. But for me, she is the only priestess. Fufu, that’s an answer that would make people question my position as empress. Please keep this a secret.” (Sairitz)

“Of course. Even so, I see. With this, I have also cleared a few of my doubts I held about you. I was able to make this time profitable for me as well. This is something to be happy about.” (Rembrandt)

“That’s great to hear. Well then, have a good night.” (Sairitz)

“Dream well.” (Rembrandt)

Sairitz left the same way she came in, without making a single sound.

Silence returns to the room once again.

“Fuh~. Being in the border of madness applies to both of us. If the basis for her judgment is the safety of the ‘present age’ priestess, I can understand that heavy bias of hers. This was an unexpected harvest.” (Rembrandt)

He mutters in this room where only he remains now.

“If you lack consideration for the priestess, your neck might be taken in your sleep; but if we turn it around, it also means that if you are not negligent in your consideration to the priestess, you can believe in that empress as long as it is within acceptable bounds. It is truly a grateful thing that it has become a lot more easy to grasp her true motives.” (Rembrandt)

When Rembrandt received an offer of cooperation from the empress of Lorel, he was obviously incredibly cautious.

Of course, he still hasn’t released the necessary amount of cautiousness towards Sairitz.

However, now that he was able to grasp a part of Sairitz’ principle of actions, he is able to understand her moves.

It was a big step forward.

“But, ‘no matter where it rolls’ huh. It is true that in this matter, there’s definitely not going to be any losses for Lorel. It is a truly ingenious choice of positioning. That woman would have done pretty well as a merchant too. If a bureaucrat like that existed to a certain extent in this country as well…is something I do wonder, seriously.” (Rembrandt)

Nevertheless, there’s no doubt that Sairitz is not an imprudent person at all.

She is dependable and can work as a good partner. That’s the kind of person she is, is what Rembrandt once again recognized of her.

“Anyways, I have done what I had to do. I also got my chance to brag. Now, I just have to continuously choose the thin but correct path. That’s all I can do in what’s left after all…” (Rembrandt)

In order to not regret it, he wrings out his everything.

Before the light of the room went out, the last words of Rembrandt were packed with those kind of emotions.

◇◆◇◆◇◆◇◆

-The night a few days after the renewal of Kuzunoha company.

In the Rembrandt store, there’s an amount of merchants gathered there that can’t be compared to any time before.

For people that deal in trades at Tsige, an invitation from Rembrandt is in essence, the same as a forced summon.

Moreover, in the wording of that invitation, there’s a part that says: ‘if possible, make sure it is the representative coming’. That’s the kind of event tonight.

In the fancy hall, there’s cooking that didn’t lose in splendor.

Looking at this, there were many merchants who didn’t have a good color in their face.

“Oi, Raidou is also here.”

“That’s obvious, right? It hasn’t been long since he has made his store. He can’t just instantly return to Rotsgard after that. No matter if he is the favorite of Rembrandt-san.”

“What. So he already intends to curry favor? He changes gears as quickly as always huh.”

“You are one to say.”

A number of people were sending gazes and talking in a low voice about Raidou who was having a friendly chat in the hall.

They were puzzled as to why Raidou, who didn’t attend to the meetings from the Tsige merchants, was now in this place, and they were also displeased by it.

In other words, a group that didn’t hold a good impression of Kuzunoha company.

In terms of percent, it is about a 20-30% of the people here.

They are also people that pursued to do business in this town, hold ambitions, are young, and have a slight amount of talent without being blessed by enough good opportunities.

“Well, even so, I am being thoroughly defeated by Milliono company lately. Can’t do anything at all, seriously.”

“Fortunately, we are being well treated by the guild and the adventurers. But the reason why there has been a good wind blowing to our side as well…”

“As expected, because we are having a good relationship with Rembrandt company?”

“Isn’t that the same for everyone? I feel like there’s a different wind blowing.”

“…Hoh.”

“I would like to get along with Raidou from now on as well. There’s no need for us to crush each other, right?”

“It would be great if you were to tell us how.”

“Of course. It is pretty easy. I will also be teaching you a rule that you must keep no matter what. Listen well. Try having a sincere relationship with Kuzunoha company.”

“Kuzunoha?”

The man lowered his voice and was talking with someone that was a business rival in the past.

In the hall where groups of people have been formed here and there, this is one of the conversations that continues within it.

Everyone had a trait that they shared in common.

That from the companies that have been facing a radical growth, the people here are the centre of them.

Those people had grouped with their planned people, and were speaking about things they had planned beforehand.

The name of Kuzunoha company.

Normally, they would suspect the scheme of the other party.

But tonight, the circumstances are a bit different.

The person that’s doing the conversation and the person that opened the conversation, knew that there’s something backing the Kuzunoha company.

And different from the budding younglings, they also know that Rembrandt is in essence, the one that has a hold of this town.

Kuzunoha company has recently opened a store with unbelievable scale.

Of course, this can’t be made possible without support from their surroundings.

It is hard to believe that this was done by a young representative that doesn’t even stay in town for much. But Rembrandt even changed the name of a Street for his sake.

It was a nailed down truth.

“T-Then, are you saying that the land the Eleor company was holding onto…was in order to present it to Raidou?”

“That’s right. Well, it was a gamble knowing it would be of high profit, but…he build a store of that scale. Everyone, do you understand?” (Eleor representative)

“Yeah. Honestly…that’s one joke I can’t laugh at.”

“He is indeed someone that’s been doing well in this town, but there’s no way he would have enough savings to make something of that scale. That means he is gaining quite a lot in Rotsgard as well.”

“I only know about selling and buying land, but Raidou-dono payed the full amount when he did the deal. It is a truly unusual way of buying.” (Eleor representative)

“Seiously?”

“A plot of land of that extend? Rather than calling it unusual, it is impossible.”

At a place slightly separated, the representative of Eleor company was also doing a similar conversation.

Both representatives from the Milliono and Eleor companies were told by Rembrandt to create a deep connection with Raidou for the sake of the future.

There’s no doubt that their deep connection with Rembrandt company has played a big role in their recent success.

The people that are in this group right now are the merchants that serve as the backbone of Tsige, and they are people that Rembrandt has been paying a reasonable amount of attention to.

Rembrandt had judged that even if it’s slightly late, they would be bringing Raidou’s topic into the conversations.

Looking at it as a whole, there’s around 30% of younglings here that don’t think of Raidou in a good light and were invited today into this gathering.

Also, there’s special companies that fulfill a low amount of demands, and private companies that don’t really hold much ambition; in short, there’s currently around 40% of people in this place that don’t hold much interest in Kuzunoha.

There’s people that differ in the type of industry and people that have different type of customers, so even if they are in the same Tsige, it is natural that there’s a lot of companies that have practically no connection with Kuzunoha company.

“…Fuh.” (Raidou)

Loosening the necktie that he is not used to wearing, Raidou takes one glass from the waiter, and gets some rest in a place slightly faraway.

There were many gazes that were concerned about his movements, but they were holding back and no one tried to approach him.

In a place where there’s gazes on him, Raidou couldn’t show an unsightly behaviour.

He had relaxed while knowing the limits of how much.

“Around this time, Rembrandt-san is probably doing the last confirmation with the long standing shops huh.” (Raidou)

Around 10% of the merchants in the hall are representatives that have been doing business for a long time in Tsige.

Those people have been able to cope with the town’s prosperity, and have been able to maintain their power without defaming their name.

In title and in public, they are side by side with Rembrandt. In other words, there’s a good amount of companies that are at the top.

Soon after being invited, they were led into a separate room by the Rembrandt company, and for now, they have only been able to see who are the people present.

Today, Rembrandt was planning on revealing the movements of Aion kingdom to the merchants.

That means the phase of laying the groundwork has already passed.

But well, the standing of Kuzunoha company and Lorel Union’s participation won’t be disclosed though.

“…”

Raidou held in the sigh that he was going to let out and fixes his attire.

And then, after emptying the glass he had in his hand, he returned to the hall.

It is time.

A few minutes after he returned to the place where the merchants are gathered, tonight’s host: Patrick Rembrandt, had appeared with the big shots that everyone knows of, and the atmosphere in the place made a complete change.

Seeing that the amount of people appearing here were the same as the people that entered the separate room, Raidou slightly furrowed his brows.

Because even if he had heard from Rembrandt that he has been speaking with those people to a certain extent since a while back, it was still kind of hard to believe that he was really able to convince everyone.

But well, in the eyes of Raidou, Rembrandt is a flawless hyuman.

Rather than thinking about the details of the confidential talk they had, Raidou simply held amazement towards Rembrandt.

“…Now then.” (Rembrandt)

Saying his thanks for accepting the invitation, voicing out words that praised each merchant for the prosperity of Tsige, and finishing all of that general talk, a sharp light appeared in the eyes of Rembrandt, and he began the real talk.

“Sadly, it has become a certainty that the fire of revolution will be burning in Aion kingdom. How will you…how will we move?” (Rembrandt)

With a questioning tone, Rembrandt’s speech began.

The revolution in Aion.

Tsige’s independence.

“…I don’t think it will come true, but if possible…I pray that the kingdom, the empire, and the demon race don’t get involved in this matter.” (Raidou)

Feeling that the words of Rembrandt were bringing heat into the hall, Raidou muttered this.

Because he already felt that they would definitely get involved in it as well.

This mutter was not because he didn’t have the resolve, but because he had already resolved himself.

Just how many ripples will this revolution create?

This was something that not even the Goddess could predict its outcome.

      1. Nom nom nom. Sorry what happen?

Darn it I forgot to camp while filling out important job stuff for Bethesda. First place I’ll stalk you down again!

  1. Thank you for the update!!! I was sad since there was no chapter through out the week. But Reigokai-san has never failed to deliver XD I’m gonna be earlier next week. Dammit shower and my attempt to stay clean, should have waited until the chapter is release :[

    1. Reigokai has never failed us so far.
We’re only worried if he get sick.

      *encrypted message*
Why don’t you join F5 ? We maybe a dirty bunch, but our hearts are pure and clean.
      *end of message*

Now, excuse me. I need to change pants, been wearing this for 24 hrs while camping.

      1. The next chapter comes out on Thursday( Friday depending on where you live).

Now that this chapter’s camping is over, I can finally sleep a bed ☺

  2. .γ””⌒ヽ,
      .んヘ/V’ヘ Thanks!!
      ( ゚ω゚ ) Nepu!!!
     ( ‘ヘ/V’ヘ|) Happy Easter!!!
      ゝ、._,ノ Have some Nepu Egg

  3. Huft, this is hard, this conspiracy thing. Makoto is really trying hard eeh~ a former naive teenager :v playing around a bunch of conspirator

      1. Why is this suddenly the discussion about my gender? I’m a truck!

We should be talking about Makoto.
        …or Komoe..

  4. Haha! Honey trapping don’t do jack on doting husband and father Rembrandt! I guess one could call this “Not-Family Zoned”?

And speaking of loyalty, Makoto really is drawing more and more parallels to an eldritch god, isn’t he? His presence distorted common sense at first, but now it’s even driving people like his followers and Rembrandt mad. And Lime. And Eva. And Tomoki, depending on how you view it. Jury’s still out for Hibiki and Chiya.

      1. I mean, if you really think about it, everyone has some level of madness to them. Most people are just high-functioning madmen like Princess Lily, but when you probe around, you’re bound to find an insane thought or two somewhere.

        …..Please say that’s not just me. ._.

    1. Chiya is scarred for life and Hibiki, the “if you try hard enough, nothing is impossible” hero, is facing the insurmountable wall that is Makoto. Give it a bit more time, and a few more failures, and she will join the madness.

  5. “Those guys return sincerity with sincerity, and fang with fang. They move with a truly simple logic.”
Now that’s a quote for the ages.

Out of all the hyumans of this world, it really does seem like Rembrandt understands Makoto the best.

    1. And what fangs they have. Even the demon race doesn’t want to mess with them unless they have no other choice.

      1. Kuzunoha is like a giant tiger, I guess. If you treat it well and pet it, it purrs and plays with you.

If you bite it, it digs its massive sabertooth fangs INTO YOUR FUCKING SPINE.

        1. Yeah… I’ll pass on petting a tiger, or lion, or any large predators. Don’t mind petting the cubs though, in a controlled and protected environment.

  6. Thanks for the chapter~
Man the story is just sorta trudging along isn’t it I wish something exciting would happen because while novels about business can be good Makoto doesn’t know the first thing about it so its a little boring

  7. I’m getting a bit sick here, even if there have been no mention of beheading or straight extreme jealousy and incest, serious SoIaF vibes coming now.
To politically depressing, give me back my OP naive MC.
Don’t go there with Sairitz, I fucking hate honey traps.

    1. Haha well it’s because honeytraps are effective that the idea is there. SolaF?

Anyway. Are the 40 chapters mentioned here the remaining chapters of the story?

      1. A song of ice and fire…most widely known by game of thrones, but thats just the first book.
I think there are 40 chapters left from the web novel

  8. Thanks 4 the chapter!

It’s aliens I tell ya! The gov’mint are covering it up.
Well, it’s not that kind of conspiracy. Best luck to Makoto, he’s going to need it to navigate these treacherous waters.

    1. *squatting in jail*
      *spits on floor*

Hergh… newbie, what’d you do to get thrown in here? Was it Money? Women?

  9. Thanks for the chapter.
Well, Makoto can hold off the Demons with just his name. The demons wouldn’t dare take much open advantage of this revolution. They might even try to support so as to gain recognition for themselves. Sairitz sure is amazing. She should try curry favor with Kuzunoha, I doubt she could create a situation where she can make Makoto owe her. Just my opinion.

    1. That’s a good point, actually. It might be bad for Lorel Union if they were caught and demons turned out to be involved in the whole mess somehow.

Everyone trying to curry favor with Makoto ends up looking like they’re on the same side.

Alternatively, if Makoto’s so worried, he could totally just go “Hey Zef/Rona? There’s this revolution thing going on and I’m kinda sorta involved in it, so could you not do anything with that if you can? Kaythanks.”

      1. And within a single minute of that conversation, every demon spy in Aion will get the order, “GET OUT OF AION, NOW! THIS IS A DIRECT ORDER FROM THE DEMON KING, THE SURVIVAL OF THE DEMON RACE IS AT STAKE, GET OUT NOW!”

    2. I just hope we get to see her viewpoint soon. Chiya must have sent a report about what she has seen in Makoto by now, as well as a full recommendation to avoid currying favors with him. I just want to know what Sairitz’s plans are for Makoto. And wouldn’t any favors she do now be simple repayment? Makoto saved her life from the variants, destroyed the demon’s jamming devices at her request, and while she may not have the full picture, she should be aware of Lime’s involvement during the demon’s assassination attempt on Chiya and the purple cloud incident. She owes the Kuzunoha Company a lot already, and if the revolution fails and Kuzunoha bails her out, then she is going to owe them even more.

  10. Was it really honey trapping or understanding each other on another level. Him sleeping with the empress of Laurel whilst not being related to Aion would be disadvantageous.

Can any hyuman in power really keep a sincere relationship? Rembrandt is pushing his relationship with Makoto to the limit to achieve some objective. Anyone with eyes can see that the Kuzunoha company is majorly involved in this and any big moves made in the future that would invite suspicion on whether or not the Rembrandt company is capable of such would fall on Kuzunoha company, while the real culprits “Lorel” are home free. I know Rembrandt will try to be the target of assasination should they try to target Makoto because of his loyalty but c’mon Rembrandt show us hyumans can evolve by coming clean to Makoto.

So she was doing this for the priestess of Laurel but didn’t come clean of how far she would go but Rembrandt later found out and praised her other plan to make Kuzunoha owe her. Rembrandt knows Makoto won’t think much of it and won’t repay anything since he never made a deal and could have done it on his own LOL. So Rembrandt is the winner here I guess.

I don’t think Makoto should get involved with merchants too much especially since some of them might be spies for Hibiki.

Aah by the way what would Hibiki think about this revolution, especially since Tsiege would be owned by KC which would make it harder for her to get to the wasteland to find asora.

Thank you so much Reigokai for this wonderful journey.

    1. I think that Rembrandt is trying to protect the Kuzunoha Company from Lorel, not using them to achieve his own objective. He knows Makoto is bad with dealing with this stuff and figures that Lorel is going to bat the flames of revolt regardless of his involvement and joined ship to help direct it and to shield Makoto from this “evil.” Rembrandt probably sees Kuzunoha and Makoto as his successor and much of the events of the last few chapters may have been efforts to transfer most of his business and political connections over to Makoto in the event that Aion or some other power forcibly removes him. May Heaven or whatever pantheon of gods that is not the Bug have mercy on whomever even attempts that, cause Makoto will show none.

      1. I did think that at first but the quote at the end of the chapter made me think otherwise. That rembrandt would go as far as he can without betraying Makoto.

Also this revolution would be quickly destroyed should Rembrandt decide not to participate. Since Lorel needs a person with influence over Tsiege and they can’t replace Rembrandt, since any who try to stand up to challenge would be crushed by him and Kuzunoha. And since KC is part of the reason she is doing this, Rembrandt can abort mission anytime he wants and watch it all go aflame.

Also no mercy to those potato heads xD.

  11. reigokai a bit typo
“I only know about selling and buying land, but Raidou-dono payed the full amount when he did the deal. It is a truly unusual way of buying.” (Eleor representative)

    “Seiously?”

“A plot of land of that extend? Rather than calling it unusual, it is impossible.”

    “Seiously -> seriously”

      1. Anyone who doesn’t should watch Airplane! (1980).

I mean it… like… go watch it. Right now. You need to watch it. It’s good for you.

  12. We could see a little of the acting form of Sairitz, that madness for Chiya must have a source, I doubt very much that Chiya itself is special but maybe the former priestess or maybe the spirits are the source of that madness because the goddess bitch does not it is.

Rembrant will not end well, he is more risky future. The plan of Lorel could be that Kuzunoha company is seen as a dangerous entity that anyone that has relation with them to die or the place where the country is located would fall like Aion.

This would fulfill the plan to isolate Kuzunoha and only Lorel could deal with them, because the information that Raidou is a sage would be revealed.

Eris has very high spiritual abilities, which were even praised by the gods, perhaps become Tamaki’s learners or better yet if she visits Lorel along with Makoto may have a development as a character.

    1. I was lost throughout most of the talk between Rembrandt and Sairitz. Were they talking in encrypte or I’m I just that dumb? I got bits and pieces but was lost mostly….

  13. Unlikely, Tamaki just got here, the Bug is still around, Shiki still haven’t mastered the 13 Steps, Tomoki and Lily is still in power and alive, and I’m still waiting for a serious fight between the heroes and Makoto. And by serious fight, I mean a simultaneous dual party wipe against a Raid boss.

    1. This is the end of arc 4, the online raws have 40 chapters left but i think the novel is up to arc 11 (i.e. something like another 300 chapters, but not online)

  14. thanks for the chapter

whenever i read a chapter and look at the scroll on my right side measuring how long the chapter will be,
thinking I was not even on the half of the page
    the chapter ended
the heck, the comment section is longer than the content of the chapter even thought the chapter is long enough for me to read for minutes

  15. What i am surprised is that Makoto is worried regarding the Demon race in this case, when he can just contact them and tell them to not interfere with the whole thing since he would either be directly or indirectly involved with this whole situation.
I doubt Zef would do anything in this case, once he knows that Makoto could somehow be related to it.

    1. Isn’t it more that he’s worried about how the Bug sees his actions? She might see his actions as being antagonistic against hyumans if he’s helping a demon plot and who knows what actions she would take against him if that happened. If he’s just a side character in conflict between hyumans that argument is difficult to make.

At the same time he doesn’t want to put any pressure on the demons and their war efforts. He could easily stop them if they somehow interfere with his own plans but unless they are directly harming Kuzunoha or his friends he doesn’t want to. If the demons were heavily involved in the insurrection he would probably step back and watch them do their thing from neutral ground.

  16. I was lost throughout most of the talk between Rembrandt and Sairitz. Were they talking in encrypte or I’m I just that dumb? I got bits and pieces but was lost mostly….

    1. As I understood it, the conversation was more or less:

      Saritz: Let’s sleep together.
Rembrandt: That’s bad for me in a lot of ways, so no.
Saritz: Well, I can’t trust you.
Rembrandt: I can’t trust you either.
Saritz: Cut me some slack since I’m even more anxious about Kuzunoha Company, but I’m not allowed to do anything about it.
Rembrandt: Relax with them. They have a very simple “Good is good, bad is bad” policy.
      Saritz: You’re insane.
      Rembrandt: Maybe. You too.
Saritz: I suppose I can “trust” you (to act in a consistent way) when you’re willing to support Raidou no matter what.
Rembrandt: And I can “trust” you in the same way with your priestess.

Pepper in some probing words and both showing off their respective intelligence network, and that’s basically it.

  17. Thanks for the chapter, Reigo-senpai.

Guys, I can’t give much in spoilers away. Other than Spoiler-san’s… current condition, we are almost where I left off in the raws. All I can say is that you must pay attention to everything that’s about to happen. Seriously, pay absolute attention.

    1. 40 chapters to catch up with the latest chapter from the author. the author haven’t been writing quite as fast. maybe he’s focusing on the web browser game?

      1. Isn’t it pretty common for authors to slow down a lot or even completely stop publishing new chapters for the web novel once the light novel starts gaining traction or catches up? I can understand wanting to focus on the stuff that actually makes money.

      1. Like… incestuous daughter who is also an heir to the kingdom?

Nah… it couldn’t be. This isn’t Games of Throne / Song of Ice and Fire. The most it can be is that she is the illegitimate daughter of the late Queen with …. former heroes. Sairitz’s half sister most likely. She is way older than Chiya, hence the ‘sister complex’ became ‘like a daughter’.

I think Rembrant understood it as such and must’ve concluded that this secret will be of use in the future. That’s why, the ‘mutual trust’ between him and Sairitz is strong. They now hold each other’s secret.

Sairitz seduces him in order to make the influence balance tilts toward her favor. Though Rembrant declining such honey trap ensures the balance of influence is still strong.

I would’ve never tought that Sairitz is the kind of person who use her body that way… I mean, use such tactics as a mean. This story really is getting dark.

      2. I can see the whole China being her half sister being part of it. As for heroes being her parents is unlikely. That is a title given by the bug to those she summons and gives her blessing. I’m guessing sairitz parents have a bloodline of other worlders and China is either by her father having a child with a pureblooded other worlder or a really important former priestess had her with an other worlder and was raised by the royalight familk to keep other countries from trying to kidnap her and manipulate them.

I know this may sound wrong but I can totally see any of the women with power using their bodies to gain an advantage over others in this novel. We see that from the adventurer that tried to take Makoto, she said that a man has has a serial experience with a woman will be more prone to listening to said woman ( it’s nothe exactly what she said I know but I don’t want to search for it lol and it’s the same meaning really). We see it with lily and her relationship with Tomoki. So yeah I can see her doing that and earning mio’s anger when she tries to do so with Makoto.

      3. Good point. But I definitely didn’t expect Sairitz to be one to de that, because she’s a minor character and all, not even an antagonist.

      4. @Truck

I could see her doing that. She was considering trying to seduce Makoto at one point after all. Before she learned about the other women around him. She might still consider it but she has probably gotten intel about Mio by now and is REALLY short on options on how to deal with him. She can’t threaten him, she could try and emotionally chain him but that could go really badly, she can’t bribe him (with money or safety), seduction is probably about the only option, but she can’t do it too obviously or she will anger someone strong enough to erase countries.

She must have a hard time sleeping when she considers how to deal with him.

      5. @IamMe Ifor she is desperate for power she might. That or if she thinks that if Makoto wants to do it then mio has no choice but to accept it she will definitely go for it.I hope that in the lorel ark or chapter we see both mio’s and tomorrow there to scare them into submission. Also I want to see sairitz reaction to what chiya sees in Makoto. Ah I want the next chapter now! But I also want reigokai to take a break and let the chapters pile up again lol.

On an other note what do you think Joshua will try to do to Makoto and the company? She must know how dangerous they are and what chiya saw some I’m wondering what is going on in her head riget now.

      6. I doubt Joshua or any of the others will do anything overly aggressive toward Kuzunoha. They have been convinced fairly well that doing so would be a “Really bad idea”. I can actually see Joshua deciding to try and add herself to his harem after she has reveiled herself to her country as being female to try and lean his opinion in the same way she sent the group of girls to influence the Hopelace heir. She will need to exit the stage in her home country to try and not cause too much trouble in the future and she has mentioned that she found him interesting, although she did not memtion him by name.

Sairitz listed it among the ways to try and get him to come to Lorel as a Wise back shortly after she met him. She knew about Tomoe and Mio but not about their attitudes toward their master, probably considered them more like empoyees that might be pulled away with the right incentive. With how little interaction she had with the set she might not have noted their actual attidude toward Makoto or that Mio was completely locked onto him. Time has passed and I would be very dissapointed if she didn’t know more about the three of them by now and how they interact. Mio makes no real efforts to hide her attitude after all, not considering it worth the effort, after all there is nothing anyone around can do about her or the actions she takes.

      7. @IamMe i know sairitz is smart enough to have the intel but im sure she will weight the pros and cons of trying to seduce makoto. If she knows from chiya that mio is in a pack with makoto she could slip up and thjnk that makoto would force mio into not hurting her if she goes for seduction. The safest way for her to try and gain makoto as an ally is to be as open with him as if he were a god. Its stupid and will get her in trouble with the bug but od the two he ia the more dangerouse one.

  18. Well I did take my time with this one. Thanks for the wonderfull job Regokai. Ok I will admit that I didn’t completely followed the conversation betwen Rembrandt and the Empress. Makoto you just jinxed it with you level of luck I am sure that the three will guet involved. The flames of war aproach Tsigue how will this end, will the devil appear and which side will he be on!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  19. Thanks for the chapter!

“Ara, even though you are going to be doing the same shrewd acts you committed in the past, you are being quiet frank. It seems like the image I knew of you is slightly different now.” (Sairitz) – quiet -> quite

Even if I knew that my objective would be achieved no matter where the dice rolled, it still hurts. I will restrain from doing so in the future.” (Sairitz) – restrain -> refrain

    1. I keep seeing people asking this question.

Well firstly, it’s 40 until we’re caught up to the most recent chapter of the ongoing series.

Secondly, how on earth does anyone think that this story could end in 40 chapters? I currently see this story as approaching the midpoint of the second act, if that. If the author tried to end this in 40 chapters, it would be a less satisfying ending than most axed manga out there.

  20. Reigokami has brought us a double chapter!!
    vladitsvar bows deeply.

40 chapters? That’s not good. It means we have like 4-5 months to catch up the original source D:

  21. Note:
Don’t get your hopes up there won’t be much action when the revolution happens but there WILL be many talking (one of them is actually interesting)

    1. Bumper
      I mean.. bummer.

Well, that remind me of Spice & Wolf.
A LOT of conversation but still funny at times.

Also, someone ask for the names of the arcs in the novel. Yeah.. I want to know too.

PART 1: THE WORLD TRANSFER ARC
PART 2: THE MAGIC ACADEMY ARC
PART 3: THE GODS VISITS ARC
PART 4: THE REVOLUTION BUT SOMETIMES VERY TALKATIVE ARC

.. maybe it goes like that?

      1. Hmm… If I had to give the arcs labels, I would go with:

        Arc 1: Makoto Misumi
Covers meeting his three followers and ends either at his departure from Tsige or after the Seven Star Lake incident.

        Arc 2: Raidou Kuzunoha
Goes from Makoto waking up and taking the teacher’s exam up until he destroys the communications jammers during the Variant Incident.

        Arc 3: Devil
Starts with the second meeting with the goddess and ends around Makoto’s departure from Limia.

        Arc 4: Asora’s Honored Waka-sama
Starts with the Kaleneon’s winterland management discussions and is currently ongoing.

        Thoughts?

      2. 1st part: Wandering in the ends of the world Arc (chap 1-65)
2nd part: Chance Meeting in Rotsgard Arc (chap 66-110)
3rd part: Kaleneon’s Participation in War Arc (chap 111-171)
        4th part: Kuzunoha’s Tour Arc (chap 172-231)

      3. yeah, it sound lame but that all he did 😉

        -gritonia’s visit as kuzunoha representative
-demon’s empire visit as kuzunoha representative
        -limia’s visit as kuzunoha representative
        -kaloneon’s visit as their guardian
-retour to tsige since a long time as kuzunoha representative
all that with a little of asora’s managment inbetween

all he did was going left and right to “see” the state of the world.

      4. Riiiight…
        Sightseeing the world.

*and while he’s at it he gets a slave, a follower, made a gauntlet… and somehow punch a door. Not to mention beating superior lizards in-between. Did I left anything out?*

      5. RedColonel-This is the end of the 5th arc of the story, it is labeled the end of the 4th arc because the first arc is not Arc 1, it seems to be more of a prolog.

        序章 世界の果て放浪編
        一章 ツィーゲ立志編
        二章 ロッツガルド邂逅編
        三章 ケリュネオン参戦編
        四章 クズノハ漫遊編
        五章 ローレル迷宮編

Arc 1 is actually about his arrival in Tsige. We are starting Arc 5 next, which seems to be about Lorel.

      6. Waa… It’s in Japanese. Can’t understand it, my level of proficiency is lower than 5 y.o kid.

        1. I only copy/pasted what was in the “Tsuki ga Michibiku Isekai Douchuu” section

          that’s put like that:
-Prologue to the wandering of a new world Arc
-Wandering in the ends of the world Arc
-A chapter in the lifestyle of Tsige Arc
-Second Tome – Chance Meeting in Rotsgard Arc

since there is already a prologue and Rotsgard is 2, I though wandering and Tsige was the same arc

does that mean it like that?:
          -prologue
-arc 0: Wandering in the ends of the world
-arc 1: the lifestyle of Tsige
-arc 2: Chance Meeting in Rotsgard

that’s weird from the author to start counting at 0

  22. Thanks for the chapter! I read the new side story. WHAT IS MAKOTOS ORIGINAL TALENT?!! it said that makoto noticed it and turn away from it and the gods also said it is within range of expectation that means a normal talent? not creation or anything a normal talent but one where makoto turn away because of this talent. Seem to be an embarrassing talent. Guys any ideas on what is it?

    1. *This Truck is about to hit you hard. Grit your teeth, cat.*

The answer: Some say that the (hidden) talent is ‘real killing intent’.

It is something that his teachers noticed. That’s why they tought him swordsmanship and archery, not at school level, but real battle / killing style. (Note that his teacher also tought him shooting).
His overloaded mana did manifest into something that resembles the maryoku of a demon lord groupie, so I think it’s possible (?)
I don’t know how they got to that conclusion though. But to me it’s plausible. Take that with a (huge) pinch of salt since it’s just our baseless opinion.

*No, this is not spoiler. It’s in the side chapters. Go read them. Now.*

      1. I think that is a possibility, but only one thing I have another teory there, it’s for the amount of magic power that you said, even in the origin world tamaki said that they have magic power so the motive for the high level magic power from makoto is still the same they discovered, the rebirth process, he just didn’t notice this in the origin world because he didn’t know how to use magic and all his magic power started leaking only after he learned magic from ema, so basically his magic power doubled everytime he trained his bow even in the origin world, it just didn’t leaked out so anybody noticed before.

      2. Well it can be the killing intent thing but I am not so kin in it, I think it most be something more deep, but at the same time I think the author has already given us tips of it but we haven’t catched it yet.

    2. It may not be embarrassing as much as uncomfortable. A possibility may be that it is a form of Charisma. Makoto seems to have maddening effect on people around him, not just on his followers, but on ordinary people like Rembrandt and Sari, one of whom have literally branded her soul in servitude to him. And even before he came to that world he had an effect on people: his elder sister gave up Judo and is going for a medical degree with him in mind, his archery and sword teachers taught him legitimate combat techniques to him despite his weak body, his playboy friend has an overwhelmingly positive attitude about him, and the Archery club captain wants to raid Liechtenstein to go look for him as a “joke.”

While this may just be plot device for characters; a lot of people around him are devoting their lives to him and is trying to do amazing, borderline impossible, things for him. It would make sense that seeing people go crazy to do stuff for him would freak him out as a kid (depending on how extreme it was) and would explain why he has a strong fixation on self-reliance. His change in mindset during combat could be this Charisma working on himself as well, to ignore all opposition and to charge forward relentlessly, and it could also be how he gained his talent for archery. Since the origin world doesn’t have magical knowledge or power readily available for humans; rather than a large scale destruction ability, something like a madness enhancement charisma would make more sense.

      1. Talent of Charisma? That … is unexpected. Hibiki obviously have it, but Makoto worked hard to be acknowledged by others. His hard work in archery and kendo, for example, was the point that attracts others.
Well, people are still debating whether his actual talent is something embarassing or not and our ideas are one of many.

I wish I’d still be alive to see the novel finish and all these questions answered.

      2. Hmm…I don’t know if it’s really charisma, but certainly, Makoto has shown a strange attractiveness since he arrived in this world, both for people and events. One could even call it eldritch at this point.

The more common theory about his talent is that it’s something destructive though. It might be a killing skill, but more likely it’s that ruthlessness of his.
Perhaps…the ability to suppress his own soul? He acts as if all life has nothing to do with him when it needs to, and his existence weakens when he’s doing the archery meditation. “Soulessness” or something like that.

      3. Well once you put it like that, this sound pausible, lets wait for the author to reveal it. By the way how funny would it be that his talent has some sexual tone to it, that would explain the data that he wanted erased from his computer at home. HAHAHAHAAHA!!!!!

      4. Now, that secret stash of his is definitely intriguing. But Tsukuyomi-bro destroyed all evidence of it. We’ll never know his fetish.
That thing can’t be a talent. Right?
*Some say that the ‘clean up’ was done by Tamaki.*

      5. @Psychronia
Tomoe explained Makoto’s charm to Waterfall before killing her.
“Might be the case. That person seriously possesses a drug-filled appeal-ja.” (Tomoe)

“No matter how you think about it, those words should be denoting the heroes though.” (Waterfall)

“Beauty lies in the eyes of the beholder. There’s also the way of thinking that even when the person is admired by the general public, there’s actually not a single one that’s truly into it. There’s people that simply gather upon the greatest common divisor. Our side might be the opposite of that though. Our Waka isn’t popular in the millions, but is truly admired by a small amount of people. That’s the kind of person he is-ja yo.” (Tomoe)

Tomoe basically said that Hibiki is nothing more than a passing fad while Makoto is the good old flavor than keeps a number of habitual patrons for life.

  23. I am pretty sure that Rembrandt planned to set Makoto’s store the moment before their independence to tell the world that Tsige is Kuzunoha’s base as such think twice before interfering with our matters thus the kingdom and demon race would surely turn a blind eye on their revolution but i bet the idiots Aion kingdom and Empire Trashmoki would take that as a sign for their fast rise in power and must be cut off before they grow more threatening

  24. but i checked the site and 5th arc there is 42 chapter (last one in 31/8/2016)
    are you sure its 40chapter?

ps i used google translate so maybe something went wrong

  25. These were interesting chapters…But can’t stay ! That [Highborn of Little Garden(lol)] is rushing at me faster than it takes to that Mad Truck to roll over people !

    Thanks for the work !

  26. 40 chapters more to go? Well, if you do 2 chapters a week, it will take another 5 months to finish. IF 3 chapters a week, it will take roughly 3 months. So, still a long way to go.

  27. Thanks for the chapters, and i think i never commented before honestly i dont remenber, despite be following the novel since the start of the manga translation, mainly because i didn’t express well in english, but since today i will be in the comment section 😀 with no more to say thanks for the translation.

  28. So Saritz really “love/appreciate?” Chiya huh, hmm, if possible I want that Makoto could make some level of connection but with how much Chiya love Hibiki and his fear for Makoto seems like a good relaptionship is really impossible.
