Chapter 190: A generous(?) reward

“…This is the diagnosis of this time’s abnormality of the Spirit temple from the Kuzunoha Company. I who was in that place, think that it is safe to assume that there was no lie in their words.”

“Hm, a warped power that made even High Spirits intoxicated had occurred at the altar huh. This is clearly the act of someone.”

“Yes. As Shiki-dono said, it seems a catalyst that dissolves into the air was used, and it is some sort of strong ritual magic that lasts for several days. The crime was probably done…by someone from a power that’s hostile to his Majesty.”

“No doubt. In the first place, there’s no mobilization party from the hyuman side in this capital, and there were no unusual movements from the organizations and the temple of the Goddess. In that case, this one can only think that this was an inside job.” (Zef)

At that time when the night was soon and waiting for the banquet; the Demon Lord Zef,m several civil officials, his close aides the Demon General Io and Rona were there as well and hearing the report.

The ones reporting were two of the Demon Lord’s children.

Lucia and Sari.

They were guiding the Kuzunoha Company party to the Spirit temple, and were involved in an incident. The two were witness of the whole incident and had returned to the castle.

They have just finished reporting the details of it.

Sari responded to all the questions Zef did without hesitation, and Zef affirmed the answers of Sari as if he already knew the one pulling the strings beforehand.

“But two High Spirits were unable to wound Raidou once huh. So being called Devil isn’t just for show or a bluff. From what this one has heard, one of his attacks killed around 4 digits of common soldiers. Seriously, this one wished that was only excessive rumors. But to look at it exaggeratedly and realize that it was even higher than that…” (Zef)

“…The power of those people rival that of a large country, no, if we are to take it more prudently, it would be safe to assume that they have enough to be a third power in this war. No matter how out of control they were, those three were able to cut through that garden of maddened Spirits with those refreshing faces, and suppressed Behemoth and Phoenix.” (Sari)

“If one follower of his is on the level of a High Spirit, we can’t deny their uncommon power. But Rona, from your report, that person called Shiki was only on the level of being a powerful Lich, though?” (Zef)

Zef’s words were directed towards Rona who was at the side.

“Yes, it is certainly true that Shiki person is supposed to be possessed by Larva. In these several years, he hasn’t made contact with us though. This is unbelievable. The Lich Larva should have already reached the limit of the power he could have. There’s no way he would be able to defeat an Earth High Spirit no matter how strong he got. To go against Behemoth with the power of an undead is just…it would be like trying to extinguish a fire mountain with a torch. Something stupid and unbelievable. I can only call it reckless.” (Rona)

“There might have been moments when he barely made it out alive, but in the middle of it, Shiki-dono showed splendid swordsmanship and used several prohibited curse magic at the same time, as he dealt with Behemoth. Whether it is his close combat ability, or his powerful magic…I can’t believe he is a Lich.” (Lucia)

Lucia who was silent until now, reacted to the words of confusion from Rona, and spoke of Shiki’s fighting style.

“Sword…It gets further and further away from the image of Larva. It seems that the situation I had grasped was probably not the truth. I will be investigating Shiki once again.” (Rona)

“Umu. But do it in a peaceful manner. This one prohibits violent methods.” (Zef)

“Understood.” (Rona)

“And Sari, what did the Spirit-donos say? They returned to their senses, right?” (Zef)

“Yes. They said that they intended to test their abilities anyways, so it was convenient.” (Sari)

“What…” (Io)

Io makes a short mutter of amazement.

“Mio-dono scolded them severely at times, but the conversation mostly proceeded in a calm manner.” (Sari)

“Fumu. Well, they did seem to have an interest in them, so this one did think that there was a chance it would happen. And?” (Zef)

Without touching the topic of Mio, Zef urges her to continue.

“In the end, they made a promise of giving them a call when they were in trouble; Phoenix promised to Mio-dono, and Behemoth to Shiki-dono.” (Sari)

“Kuku, is that so. Seriously, it is steadily getting out of hand, that company.” (Zef)

“It seems they spoke about some other topics afterwards, but we were told to check on the state of the survivors, and had no choice but to leave the place. We don’t know what conversation they had.” (Sari)

“It’s fine. Now then, it seems our plans here have stabilized more.” (Zef)

Zef had an expression as if confirming his thoughts.

Looking at this, Sari opens her eyes wide and speaks.

“Excuse my rudeness, but did his Majesty already notice the abnormality in the temple beforehand?” (Sari)

“…Umu. No, it was only to the extent that this one had suspicions of it.” (Zef)

“And the actions that Kuzunoha Company took as well?” (Sari)

“This one thought that you would be able to drag them along and have them interfere with it.” (Zef)

“…And their power as well?” (Sari)

“About that point, this one was expecting you two to bring out as much as you could. If the abnormality was to the level that this one thought of, this one was sure your group would be able to come back without any problems.” (Zef)

“Raidou-dono, that man, in a precarious situation where they were dealing with Behemoth, and Phoenix had intruded, he said it was ‘lucky’. That it saved them the trouble of one more dungeon. Your Majesty! Did you feel that much power in Raidou-dono?!” (Sari)

“…Fuh, ‘lucky’ huh. What scary words he says. No, this one didn’t think it would be to this extent. In the first place, this one didn’t think that the two High Spirits had gone mad as well. If this one knew the situation was to such extent, this one would have taken the army and subjugated it myself. This one had prepared for it as well. Right? Io and Rona.” (Zef)

Io and Rona assent at Zef’s words.

Sari breathed out in relief.

“I see. We only considered them dangerous people, so I was bothered about how much your Majesty had understood of them. Please forgive my rudeness.” (Sari)

“This one doesn’t think of it as rude. Don’t mind it. But the number one problem was as expected, the timing huh.” (Zef)

“Timing?” (Sari)

“There’s only a limited amount of people that know the date and time that Kuzunoha Company would be visiting the temples. In that case, it means that the people that have used that information to push a coup d’etat, are people that are close to this one. A Spirit rampage that even involved the High Spirits, from the details of it, it wasn’t an incident caused impulsively. People that were able to pull it off as a plan, had grasped a relative amount of information, and were trying to involve the Kuzunoha Company; guests that this one had invited myself.” (Zef)

“?!”

Tension ran through the place.

The words of the Demon Lord were said as if someone in that place ‘might’ be the one responsible.

“Good grief, this is a problem this one would like to resolve by spring. Even if it isn’t a situation on the level of Kuzunoha Company.” (Zef)

“Your Majesty, as we have made our guests work this much, we also have to show some form of decency.” (Io)

“This one knows, Io. Regarding that, Rona had already told Shiki to a certain level. Right, Rona?” (Zef)

“Yes, I certainly did tell him. But wasn’t that supposed to be the reward for the friendly match?” (Rona)

“We will put a bit more color to it, and give them something that’s one step higher. From what I have seen, Raidou was a person that feels debt towards this type of gestures. This one doesn’t know if Shiki will comply to it, but there’s no doubt that his words hold the most weight to Raidou. At least, if we were to convince him, there will be no problem.” (Zef)

“That’s true.” (Rona)

“Even so, don’t do anything reckless. Maybe we should make it as if the state of affairs is complicated and give it to them. Looking at the circumstances, they shouldn’t think that the demon race is wealthy after all.” (Zef)

Zef laughs.

This Lord is facing the Kuzunoha Company, and creating a method that fits their personalities.

“Then about the friendly match—” (Lucia)

“Wait.”

When Lucia was about to change the topic and was about to talk about the event that she herself would be involved in, the Demon Lord stops those words while maintaining his smile.

“Before that, there’s something this one wants to confirm with you two. Let’s hear your opinions now that you have accompanied them today. If this one were to tell you to marry Raidou, what would you do?” (Zef)

“No problem.” (Lucia)

Lucia was the first to make an instant reply.

“Instant reply huh. That was quite the quick change of heart.” (Zef)

“We can’t leave those people unchecked. Just like your Majesty has said, and just like what Sari has said as well; this is the truth. If someone like me will be of use, I will do my best to make sure that power doesn’t turn to the demon race.” (Lucia)

“Fumu. Sari, what about you?” (Zef)

“I…can’t marry Raidou-dono.” (Sari)

“Hoh~”

Zef looks at Sari with interest.

The people around were surprised by the rejection of Sari who was positive about the marriage.

“That proposal will most likely have a reverse effect on Raidou-dono.” (Sari)

“Why? No matter if it’s hyuman or demon, being given to marriage is a sign of a good relation. In times, it also serves to mediate the disputes of races, though?” (Zef)

“It’s because of Mio-dono. Compared to Shiki-dono, she is a person that moves honestly to her feelings. And she has feelings for Raidou-dono. That’s how I saw it. In that case, marriage wouldn’t be a nice topic for her. If Mio-dono alone were to think of interfering with the demon race in secret, it might create enormous damage.” (Sari)

“…Does she prioritize her emotions to that level? She is a close aide of Raidou, you know?” (Zef)

“She does. Compared to the demon race, the Kuzunoha Company seemed to give quite a lot of freedom. I think that something would happen before things were settled.” (Sari)

“Hm…that’s a bit out of expectations. This one thought that everyone below Raidou had to follow his will definitely.” (Zef)

“Also, Raidou is a lot more than what your Majesty thinks of.” (Sari)

“A lot more what?” (Zef)

“Childish. I felt like he was a late blooming man. At the very least, that’s the impression I have of him when it is peaceful.” (Sari)

“Childish and late blooming huh.” (Zef)

“Yes.” (Sari)

“Then wouldn’t marriage be an adequate plan? This one doesn’t think a childish person would be able to easily have fights of life and death, but…thinking about the talk that night, you certainly do have a point.” (Zef)

“But your Majesty, I have already planted a seed. Looking at him today, I think that there’s something that can bind Raidou better than marriage. Can you please leave it to me?” (Sari)

“Sari!” (Lucia)

Lucia makes a rebuke.

Kuzunoha Company’s Raidou.

This is not a matter that can be left to Lucia or Sari who are still in the middle of learning.

This is something that involves the whole future of the demon race, so the strict tone of Lucia is proper.

“…Do you have confidence in it?” (Zef)

“Yes.” (Sari)

“Tell me in detail.” (Zef)

“…I will give the details after the people have been cleared out.” (Sari)

“…Understood.” (Zef)

The gazes of Sari and Zef clash directly.

Both were serious, and created an atmosphere that cannot be interrupted.

After Zef took his eyes off first, Sari continued to look at him for a while and does a small nod. After that, there was silence where no words were spoken.

“Rona, this one told you this before, but there’s a traitor within the limited people around. Look for the traitor. Don’t let it affect tomorrow’s match.” (Zef)

“…Definitely.” (Rona)

“Umu. Io, this one will be doing a small modification to the friendly match. Keeping in mind the matter of the temples, this one wants to put more restrictions to the audience that will be spectating. Also, about the ones participating. Sari, you be on standby at this one’s room. Lucia, you can return, also, don’t come to tomorrow’s match. Looking at someone that has already given up wouldn’t serve as reference after all. This one will entrust you with the training of the units all day.” (Zef)

At Zef’s words, there were affirmative responses from each of them.

Lucia bit her lips, but didn’t object.

Because she has already seen the power of Raidou and Kuzunoha Company, it isn’t that necessary to look at the matches.

Leaving aside if such intentions of Zef had gone through, Lucia nodded and returned a response.

“After that’s finished, this one has to talk with Raidou-dono. Even though it was within expectations, these guests really do make things busy.” (Zef)

◇◆◇◆◇◆◇◆

“It is great that you say this. Raidou-dono has practically saved this capital after all. You have accepted the friendly match and now this; no matter how many times this one lowers his head, it wouldn’t be enough.” (Zef)

“N-No no! There’s no need for his Majesty to do that. I mostly had my followers do all the work. It is truly great that Lucia-san and Sari-san are not injured.” (Makoto)

Yeah.

Zef is currently right beside me.

Close.

Right beside the Lord-sama.

The taste of the food is harder to feel than yesterday.

And while at it, I can’t even feel my stomach filling up.

It is being directly distributed to me, and the scale is smaller than last night, and has more people participating.

It is a method that’s not that pleasant for me.

“You even investigated the cause of it. It would be fine to be more prideful of it though. Hm, your cup was already empty. Sorry for not noticing.” (Zef)

“I have already been given a lot, so uhm…I will take more. Please, your Majesty as well.” (Makoto)

I look at the liquid that’s already being poured and just give up.

In this kind of situations, it is a matter of how to refuse it.

I thought that if I stopped drinking, it would be over, but Zef pointed that it was empty and began pouring more.

I give up.

“Thanks. Well you see, there’s few occasions where this one can drink with someone. It even makes me feel as if Raidou-dono is my very child.” (Zef)

What is this person saying so casually.

He is definitely not drunk.

After hearing the thought transmission of those two these morning, these all sounds like nothing but pretense.

“Don’t you already have two dependable sons? Ahaha.” (Makoto)

“Roshe and Sem huh. It is true that they are working hard. But what great teaching produces is mostly prodigies. Those two as well. As expected, someone with peerless talent like Raidou-dono just…doesn’t appear. Well Sari is still a bit young but how about it? If you want to have one of them, or even if you take both of them, it would make me have more peace of mind.” (Zef)

…The topic doesn’t change.

What’s with this person.

“Please stop the jokes. I am a hyuman.” (Makoto)

“If it’s someone with power, race doesn’t matter. I won’t go as far as asking you for a grandchild, you know? Hm?” (Zef)

Don’t ‘hm’ me.

I am not thinking about marriage in the first place.

“I really think that it is a good offer, but right now I am still unskilled as a merchant. So I will have to refuse.” (Makoto)

“Is it no good?” (Zef)

“…Yes.” (Makoto)

I was troubled in how to say it, but I decided to firmly refuse.

If I say it vaguely, he wouldn’t step back after all.

“No matter what?” (Zef)

“No matter what.” (Makoto)

“Hm…” (Zef)

Zef turns silent.

Maybe I soured his mood.

But this is too much.

I can’t just marry like this.

“Then there’s no helping it.” (Zef)

“Eh?” (Makoto)

“It is regrettable, but it must be because my daughters couldn’t catch the eye of Raidou-dono. In other words, they lacked charm. If their power wasn’t enough, the result was obvious.” (Zef)

“I-I see.” (Makoto)

Talking about power here as well?!

That’s impressive.

Or more like, he easily stepped back.

I am happy, but it also makes me feel a bit uneasy.

Is this a Demon Lord quality, no, Zef quality?

How scary.

“Even if Lucia looks that way, she has quite the well-developed body you know. When she doesn’t wear that armor of hers, she does have a womanly body. It harmonizes well when she has a dress on but…since she is a soldier, it is certainly true that she is lacking in terms of womanliness. At this rate, I feel like nobody might want her and it makes this one uneasy. If she is not to Raidou-dono’s taste, it can’t be helped.” (Zef)

With hyuman women receiving stronger blessings from the Goddess, it isn’t strange to have women soldiers, no, it is actually on the higher side. But when it comes to demi-humans and demons, there are difference in rates.

That there’s some is also related to the existence of magic, and a girl like Lucia-san who is at the top of the army is certainly something unusual.

I don’t know if they are blood related, but she is his daughter, and yet, what a way to say it.

Even if you say that, there’s no way I can nod to it!

Could it be he actually hasn’t given up yet?!

His expression is the same gentle smile so I can’t read him!

How unfair.

“This one does think there’s fun in learning from square one, but Raidou-dono isn’t at the age where you are able to enjoy that huh.” (Zef)

“Eh, your Majesty, uhm, aren’t you drinking a bit too much?” (Makoto)

He is definitely not drunk, and I can tell that the alcohol has nothing to do with it, but I blame it on the alcohol to make a follow-up.

“Then Sari must be no good either huh. She is truly at the stage where she will be turning into a woman. Even her body is immature. Is it that you don’t want to taste the immorality that can be achieved only at this point in time?” (Zef)

He is not stopping.

He will most likely blame it on the alcohol later, and the two who are the topic of the conversation have stopped their hands and are trembling.

That’s right, he is shouting with quite the loud voice.

Could it be that the Demon Lord actually likes to joke around?

I do know of Rembrandt-san who is a father with daughters, but he normally faces terrible consequences after he does things like this.

I will be running away but, you do have the resolve right?

I won’t be stopping it even if you ask for help later, you know?

“Honestly speaking, even if you talk to me about marrying Sari, it just doesn’t click. There wasn’t any noble or royalty around me that has married at an early age, so…” (Makoto)

Let’s go with the common sense.

I will at least try not to rub those girls in the wrong way.

“Then Raidou-dono, what kind of woman is your taste?” (Zef)

“My taste?! E-Ehm, a girl that is candid but has womanly gestures?” (Makoto)

“…Hoh~” (Zef)

“A girl that does her best in training?” (Makoto)

“…”

“No well, it is just a ‘what if’ though.” (Makoto)

What am I even saying?

I have drunk too much.

It is true that it has been a repetition of drinking all and being poured more, so I have drunk quite a lot of strong alcohol.

“Fumu, does that mean Mio-dono is that type of girl?” (Zef)

Bufugh?!

I get surprised by the nonchalant utterance of Zef and look at Mio.

I don’t know if she is listening to the conversation, but I feel like Mio’s back is unnaturally straight.

Should I confirm with thought transmission…no, confirming something like that feels wrong.

“W-Why is Mio mentioned now?” (Makoto)

“No well, she is such a beautiful woman after all. It is obvious that you have put your hands on her already, so this one just thought that it might be the case.” (Zef)

What’s that about obviously putting my hands on her?

I definitely have not!

“She is…a subordinate. Also, how to say it, we have a relationship close to that of family, so I have ended up saying something that I normally wouldn’t. I am sorry.” (Makoto)

I apologize for the words that the alcohol has made me say.

I am beginning to feel like I can’t lower my guard to any of Zef’s words.

It is tiring.

Even if this is a banquet, even when this is a drinking party where we are the spotlight, it is incredibly tiring.

“Hahaha, it is this one who has to apologize for saying such unsavory things. This one also apologizes.” (Zef)

So he is aware of it?

He is the worst, hey.

Saying that, Zef shifts his seat towards me, and closes himself to a point where his body is in contact with mine.

And then, from his pocket, he takes out something cylindrical.

It is not big.

It is a long and thin cylinder.

Ah, it is like the cylinders used to put in honorable certificates.

Does that mean, it is a document?

After that, he takes out a board that is slightly thick and places it on the table.

I don’t know the material of it, but there seems to be something carved on it.

It looks like paper money.

When I tried to confirm the details of what was engraved, Zef explained it to me.

“You see, this is a transit permit that allows you to free passage to all the towns and cities within the demon race territory. There’s a number of types for it, but this has the same authority that a few in the upper stratum of the demon race army possess. Specifically speaking, you can make contact with the central part of the demon race.” (Zef)

“I see.” (Makoto)

A transit permit. The quite impressive type at that huh.

Are the demons properly doing things like mobilizing the residents and refugees?

“And, this one here is…” (Zef)

Nodding to my words of understanding, Zef takes out a paper from the cylinder.

It is a high grade-looking paper.

It seems like something is written on it.

From where I am, I can’t read everything though.

“This is something that allows the Kuzunoha Company to do business tax-free in the demon race territory. This was issued formally, you know. It is well-known that this seal is something that only this one can mark, so problems and disputes will most likely not occur.” (Zef)

“Hm, Kuzunoha Company’s… Kuzunoha Company?!” (Makoto)

A permit to do business in the demon race territory?!

And no tax at that?!

“Umu. Of course, I will be giving you the transit permit as well.” (Zef)

That impressive transit note as well?!

Eh, is this possibly what Shiki said about ‘receiving something’?

Ah, no, is this because of the matter with the temple?

“…”

“Hm, this one thought that this one was showing a relative amount of good will though. Was it not enough?” (Zef)

“…I was surprised for receiving so much. It makes me wonder if I actually did something so impressive to receive all these things.” (Makoto)

“Didn’t you accept the friendly match? And not only did you resolve the situation at the temple, you also saved my two daughters. It is my gratitude for those.” (Zef)

Even so, I think this is impressive.

“Later, this one will be putting it in order, but there’s one more big thing.” (Zef)

There’s still more?!

Moreover, the normal procedure is to pass all the formalities before receiving the things. In other words, Zef has skipped all those procedures and has given me the things first.

It makes me think that he is forcing himself.

From the cylinder, Zef takes out one more paper.

?!!

This is…you are kidding, right?

“This is a map of our country, excluding the unexplored regions to the north. The major towns, and the paths are also recorded. This one does want you to understand that there’s classified information that’s not recorded here.” (Zef)

Just like Zef said, it is a map.

A map of the demon race territory that can be coupled with the hyuman map I have.

It is true that there are blank parts here and there, and even if he says there’s major towns and paths, there were parts where the path just suddenly cuts off on the way.

But it is clearly information that could be considered classified.

It is without doubt information that no other hyuman aside from me knows of.

By the way, Kaleneon is here as well.

Zef spreads out the map that has Stella Fortress at the southern tip, and then once again wraps it up and puts it inside the cylinder along with the business permit.

“Now then, these are already yours, Raidou-dono. If possible, this one wants you to put them to practical use, and circulate your goods to the other demon and demi-human towns. Of course, this one is also looking forward to Raidou-dono’s way of fighting tomorrow.” (Zef)

“Uhm, I will do my best.” (Makoto)

I have received incredible things after all.

No wonder Shiki told me to accept the match.

Even if we fight, our cards will not decrease that much, so this is clearly more profitable to receive.

“Please do so. Well then, from now on, let’s go without all the work and formality! Let’s begin from the talk about your taste in woman.” (Zef)

“Please spare me from that talk already!” (Makoto)

“Can’t do that. How can this one call himself a Demon Lord when this one can’t even reward properly the guest that has worked so hard at the temple?” (Zef)

“I have already received plenty!” (Makoto)

“No! At the very least, take one of my daughters.” (Zef)

We went back to square one?!

“Didn’t I refuse that already?! In the first place, that topic is mixed with work, you know!” (Makoto)

With the talking and alcohol, a night that felt like an infinite loop advanced on.

    1. done reading now
I can’t help but feel that Zef’s talking about Mio’s and Makoto’s relationship is going to backfire on him. Am inclined to believe he did this to get a feel of Makoto’s feelings and preferences. But I doubt Mio appreciates having her relationship with Makoto discussed in front of a group of people. I know that her and Tomoe have had this conversation before and have already reached the conclusion that Makoto won’t put his hands on them because he started to viewed them as family. But having this discussed and told to a group of strangers must be embarrassing. Since she can’t get mad at Makoto for answering, the party left is the demon lord for bring it up.

Sari must have grasp that Makoto is feeling lonely. I know that he has Tomoe, Mio, Shiki and all the residents in asora, but he is a unique existence in this world. No can understand how it feels to be a hyuman born and raised in a human world, feed its culture, then brought back to his ancestral world. Placed in contempt by the bug that was suppose to give you him the title of hero and alienated by your own race because of your appearance. Being treated as a king/god like existence to a group of people when you grew up in a world were such concepts were distant from your everyday life. Then having to worry who to trust because you have people scheming to use you for their political games cause you’re powerful enough to decide the fate of thousands.
I know he talk so much about himself to Hibiki because she’s his senpai, but I also believe he talk so much because he needs someone to vent his feelings and thoughts to.

      1. That’s a good point. It’s strange Makoto doesn’t act more melancholy when you put it like that.

I disagree with the Mio bit though. Rinon mentioned them being together early on and her response was a shy girl’s embarrassment, but in a happy way.

      2. True, but makoto’s answer is kinda of a rejection for Mio’s feelings. Do you think a yandere enjoys having her feeling denied?

      3. That’s true, I can’t see Mio being that… um delusional( i suppose was the word I was looking for, sorry I know there is a better word or way to describe it, but my vocabulary is failing me right now).

      4. Seems that all of you have forgotten the chapter were mio and shiki were competing where the one to finish first would recive a wish from makoto, and makoto thought mio would ask for a date or something like that, but in the end she asked for permission to see his memories and he felt dissapointed by that.

      5. So you think Sari has judged that Makoto wants friends more than anything else. Hmm…you may be on to something. And the only one they judged could be a friend is Zef. It’s lonely up at the top, after all, and who better to understand than someone in a similar position.

      6. From my point of wiev … He only need a medic to heal his severe case of P*ssy alergy or maybe he have Tchaikovsky syndrome (Maria Holic reference)…
Leaving the jokes aside he just a coward that cannot face the felling of others people and only tanking the words and not the mean behind of that… When he heal his alergy Will find what is really important to Makoto, he is lucky that he have the visions of the alternative past to Warner him and protect from his own terminal chronic stupidity.
And almost forgot to thank Rei-Sama foro his great work like always from now i Will alway post here. Can i make a request ir Rei-Sama can put the name of the next chapther atentamente the end of the current chapther and a brief Climent of Rei-Sama felling to rise the expectation of the next release

      1. She might not as close as tomoe or Mio but its true that she have some advantage…

        Such as
Makoto didnt think of her like a family though her status as Rembrandt’s children might affecting Makoto…

Other thing is she is a real human. I dont think Makoto is racist type but i remember Makoto said something about if Someone know her real form, who want to be with her. Though i forgot which chapter or perhaps this from manga. But again i might misunderstanding or maybe Makoto have a heart change.

I also remember Mio said to tomoe after their spar(?) (Its after Mio ask Makoto to attend him) that Mio is willing to accept any woman he choose as long she fulfill some criteria like able to cook and other…

      1. his type are mature onee-sans. both tomoe and mio basically morphed into his ideal physcial image of what a good woman would be. the princess lily of the empire is also his type, but her scheming and relation to trash ikemen puts her off his to-fug list, if he had a list.

  1. Sorry to everyone that was expecting a chapter yesterday.
The previous chapter was twice as long as a normal chapter, so please do spare me a 1 day leeway.

    1. Don’t be sorry Reigokai-sama, Sunday’s chapter was long enough to feed us for days, so don’t worry about it and do it in a pace that works best for you.

    2. No! =︿=

So what if the chapter on Sunday was double length-or even triple compared to the shorter ones? That totally doesn’t mean you can make us wait a whole 24 hours! Imagine, waiting four days to get another chapter-even though we got one in the middle so it’s technically only two days-that’s just unacceptable!

….In case the text failed to carry across the sarcasm, it’s cool dude. We appreciate what you’re doing already, as clearly evidenced by that scary 11 chapter queue.

    3. Holy smokes, 11chapters? Shows how much the people loves this novel. Just do your best clearing it bit by bit.

      Thanks as always.

      1. You know reigo-sensei… After reading some long chapter, why did i got feelings that tsuki ga michibiku word count keep getting longer and longer? The future chapter might longer than this one…

Unfortunately reigo-sensei… I cant help you with this..
I can only pray for your good health , reading the update and comment to encourage you…

You know perhaps if we ever meet, ill treat you some beers…

    5. We are grateful enough that you updated frequently Reigo-san, and you have your own live. Btw 11 donation chapter waiting? I’l pray for your healt :V

    6. Sure ! You work hard, I have no problem at all with the fact that you’d have the need of a day off…It’s just that depending on the location, a day may already have passed ! AHAHAHAHAHAHAH !

Just kidding, I don’t want our translator-sama to overstrain himself, after all ! Gambaree~
      Thanks for your work !

      1. Really? I hate living in LA cause it hot/warm through out the year ( except for like a month and half (winter)). It’s so hard to sleep at night cause of the heat.

  3. Damn I wasn’t first. Thank you for the chapter! Can’t express my appreciation enough for the hard work you’ve put into translating Reigodai. It is so rare to find a translator as consistent as you these days, especially for Japanese. If I were to read the raw myself, it would be a disaster as I would only be able to read kanji, since I am a native Chinese Speaker

    1. Try reading it through Chrome’s version of Google Translate? When it translates to English, it creates clumps of incoherent text. The insanity caused by that… it’s how Spoiler-san started possessing OhMarioWV

    1. My thoughts as well.

      He’s basically bartering here.

Starting at an outrageously high offer, then when he gets refused, he starts to “compromise”, and pulls Makoto into the flow, making him compromise as well, until he accepts what the Demon Lord wanted in the first place (or at least what he’s willing to accept, since he would have preferred the initial offer).

Poor Makoto. He’s a novice merchant, and his inexperience is showing.

      1. Which I kinda like. The wall I’m seeing Makoto hit here gives me a similar feeling to that filler of Goku going to a school interview.

While Eva and Ema’s conversation is valid, it’s still an inevitable fact that even if you have the power to bench-press a planet, there are still things that you can’t do. And Zef is an embodiment of those missing “Everything else” talents.

      2. make cents with the “compromise”thing but i think he also did aim for the brides part to for if they have a kid there might be a good chants that the child had receive some of his powers but we will not know until the next chapter…or beyond.

        1. I don’t know if races can interbreed here. The main reason he wants Makoto to marry here is less for children, and more for medieval political marriages and alliances. The king of a country is less likely to attack his father or brother-in-law, and the bride is able to at least advise against actions that would harm her homeland. This doesn’t always work, of course, I believe that Oda Nobunaga’s brother-in-law betrayed him if my memory is correct, but it works more often than not.

      3. @coatl45 I do think that every race is able to interbreed due to the fact that the bug told Makoto to have children with other races and not to touch any hyumans to not make any ugly childs or something, it was in one of the very first chapters though I recall, to have read it in the manga though. If I am wrong here feel free to correct me, I really appreciate the conversations made here and the friendlyness of the people because I never experienced such a nice community ^^

        1. Yeah, the…I dunno, I guess it’s the isekailunatic community? The community is pretty cool, except for those occasional attention seekers that go “fuk this novel, I’m dropping it everyone”. Lots of good discussion, respectful disagreement, and humorous shenanigans.

Other than this, I think I’ve only seen one other community of composed of almost entirely really cool dudes, and it’s a relatively small fanbase for a streamer I’m a fan of.

      4. That’s correct.

“Go live among the orcs and goblins. You can even marry them, but don’t dirty my hyumans with your disgusting seed!”. Something among those lines.

      5. I kinda feel like it depends on the novel. If the novel is about drama, then the community would consistent of people who like drama. So far this novel has been pretty chill and talkative( i know there’s a better word, but am drawing blanks right now), so the community reflects that.

      1. Ah my fave “yandere” of all is of course yandere-chan!

Be careful yandere-chan cause there’s nemesis-chan on to you these year!

  4. Mio and Tomoe need to be more vocal about wanting a relationship, or this Naive child will never make a move. He’s the very concept of “Passive”.

      1. Actually it would, but in a sadder way. Because the Dream Makoto were pretty much versions of him that had agendas.

…and apparently, the destruction gods had to wipe those timelines out…

          1. It’s very fridge horror and depressing at the same time.

For all we know, Makothree’s farewell with Tomoe and departure to pick a fight with Bug(which is exactly where the other two dreams ended off on, incidentally) was the last moment of existence for that timeline. I couldn’t have been the only one imagining a bitter and jaded sad theme playing throughout it?

        1. No, see…Makoto of that moment is already suicidal, so what my brain jumped to would be one of those jazzy, depressed themes. Maybe something from Detective Conan.

…Your idea would probably suit the death scenes as they happened though.

          1. Nah, I thought of something Disturbed would play for the first two dreams. The kind of music that stresses vengeful madness, ya know? The third, especially when talking with Tomoe, was a sad song moment.

          2. Yeah, that sounds about right. Dream 1 and 2 is a war path but 3 is especially broken.

…Man, that’s depressing. Aren’t we glad our Makoto is a carefree passive little thing now?

          3. Yeah, I get enough tragedy when I read Kuro no Maou and stuff like that. If I didn’t have anything like this, I’d probably be sitting in a corner, rocking back and forth while clutching my knees, and saying “make it didn’t happen”.😆

          4. Well, for whatever it’s worth, I’m planning on trying my hand on an “summoned to other world” fantasy story of my own soon that’s going to be themed in comedy. 😀

      2. I think that every dream-Makoto pursued their agenda and met with despair and victory, maybe original Makoto soft-way of handling things is creating a better world.

    1. He seems to be realizing he wants Tomoe subconsciously after that vision where she dies but depending on how it progresses it might take forever for him to realize.

For Mio I don’t know, Makoto won’t take her of his own will, but will oblige of she ask; while Mio won’t ask and wants Makoto to ask for her himself.

  5. Thanks for the chapter~

Spoiler-san said: “One of Zef’s daughter gonna join the harem for sure, but… Don’t expect much she will become fellow subordinate for Kuzunoha Company”.

      1. There’s a reason that those who do not have contracts are called “extended” harem members. If Makoto won’t touch Mio or Tomoe, then he’s not gonna touch any of the other girls.

    1. Considering that Kuzunoha company may be opening shop in demon country, they may end up as a clerk or assistant manager.

  6. Wow. Makoto killed enough foot soldiers to reach 4 digits that one time? Gee, when you hear it on a report like that it makes him sound like some kind of monster. ;P

“They intended to test their abilities anyway, so it was convenient.”
Oi. From the sounds of it, the High Spirits are about as easygoing as the Superior Dragons, aren’t they? I got a “please don’t get serious or you’ll vaporize me, teehee~” Root vibe from that.

Let’s give a hand of applause to Sari for maneuvering away from the political marriage flag out of fear for a Yandere Mio Bad End! She’s certainly proving herself a capable one.

    1. Well, in the case of superior dragons, death doesn’t seem to be an impediment. As for the spirits, since they’re essentially manifestations of their element, then new ones will likely respawn to replace the ones that get destroyed.

Neither of those view death the same way as us squish mortals. To them it’s just another part of the cycle. It’s only we who make a big deal out of it. 😛

And I agree regarding Sari. She’s damn smart and perceptive. If she ends up going with Makoto, it will most likely be in the capacity of an advisor / ambassador of the Demon race.

She probably suggested that Zef give all that stuff to Makoto to make him feel indebted, then suggest that it would be beneficial to both of them if Kuzunoha Company had a Demon representative, to help make doing business with the Demon towns easier.

  7. Spoiler-san has nothing this time. It’s been so long… Spoiler-san barely remembers what happens. But… something about the spirits will be popping up soon. Ugh… why can’t Spoiler-san remember?

Anywho, thank you Reigo-senpai for another good chapter.

    1. Oy, oy, what a kind teasers producer you make Spoiler-chan. Please let me repay your kindness with a good knock on the head to get your memories back ! *Innocent smile*

  8. Well, this proves that the demon leaders are certainly perceptive. They have Makoto’s number…

…but only the first few digits, out of a hundred or so. I wonder how badly they will overplay their hand…

I think I’m mixing metaphors now, but whatever. 😉

    1. In this case, it’s alright to mix metaphors. Then again, I’m sure that the demon king probably knows that Makoto was the third source of power from long ago when he sensed the Heroes.

What, am I the only one who remembers?

      1. @UnknownSoul

If the demon race did a background check on Makoto, they should realize he never existed until he appear in Tsige( i think that’s how it’s spelled), which is last stop before the vast edge of the world.

      2. “to thatcc post” he have the convenient respond “I came from beyond the edge desert” or what ever ware he fist came to in this world is called.

  9. Thanks for the chapter!

I wonder who is the “traitor” I thought it might be Rona at 1st, but no that doesn’t make any sense she already knows how powerful Makoto is and wouldn’t antagonize him.

My guess is either it’s a new group (that will likely be fighting in the friendly match and get creamed) or Root is being an ass… Again.

      1. Is I one of the male demon lord candidates, in my opinion the one more worried about the integrity of the demon races thinking if he ends the war with the humans there would be less reasons for Makoto not to trade within the demon territory since thy are not warring against the hyumans increasing the chances of the longevity of the demon race.

    1. Personally, i still think it is rona.
Juz that, zef is hiding it.

Well, rona did seems to hav a trump card that was mentioned to be able to do something to magical power

    2. More importantly, I remember that Rona was described as a Mio-level fanatic for Zef, so I feel like even if Zef went mad and started driving the Demon Race into extinction, she would follow him all the way to hell.

    3. I don’t know how to describe it, but i have this weird feeling in my gut saying its one of the sons, specifically the one without glasses.

  10. Can I just reiterate how much I love Zef? I’m not sure if he’s being devious or just a troll at the end there. All I can do is feel sympathy for his poor daughters being reduced to a sales pitch. Somehow I think he earned some points with Mio too. Either way, that totally didn’t feel like he was the one in a disadvantageous position giving up a bunch of assets.

    …In fact, let me just…

The results of the mealtime chat: “Due to making Raidou immensely uncomfortable and drawing out his explicit -preferences in women for the first time despite being weaker by orders of magnitudes, the match ended in Zef’s overwhelming victory.”

  11. I’m really looking forward to the battle chapter.
Zef is determined to make that diplomatic connection…
    Thank you for the release!

    1. I just imagined Makoto and party returning to Asora, and when he goes to unpack his luggage, he finds Sari, bound and gagged, in one of his bags.

Makoto’s first reaction: “Huh. I thought I didn’t see you towards the end.”

That’s when Shiki, Mio and Tomoe decide to barge into his room to help him unpack, while discussing some stuff, and see Makoto standing over Sari, who is still bound and gagged, and with tears in her eyes.

  12. “No! At the very least, take one of my daughters.” (Zef)
    – really liking Zef’s character… he’s one decent demon lord..

    1. EDIT: Makoto and Zef’s interaction kinda remind me of MAOYUU MAOU YUUSHA – “KONO WATASHI NO MONO TONARE, YUUSHA YO” “KOTOWARU!”

      1. Zef: Let my daughters become yours Hero!
        Makoto: I ref-
        Mio: I refuse!
        Makoto: Wha-
Zef: Ah. I guess Mio-dono is your type?
        Makoto: W-well-I-no…
        Mio: ………
Zef: By the way, have this stuff.
        Makoto: What is-!?
        Zef: Now about my daughters…
        Makoto: ?????

  13. Can’t say I should be amazed by Makoto saying those or not. Really? I thought he has a Clear Type of Woman well it fits with Tomoe and Mio though.
Beutiful. Older. Works hard to imrpove themselves from Training (cooking and Swordsmanship).

  14. Oh my gosh…

Makoto type: candid, girly gesture and work hard in training…
Isnt that kouhai or club president?

Seriously, i hope that the author will do his best to give them a chance to pursue makoto to the goddess world.

    Well, polygamy is allowed.
So, no one will get sadz

    1. the only problem is that…….He still hasn’t touch them.
Well If you can’t Pull him then there is only one method left.
Push go for the kill. Meaning Make him take responsibility! Damn it!
Tomoe and Mio should work together and push him in bed hahaha

    1. hmmm…to me it more likely those rewards have some kind of tracking spell or something to know were they are for they probably want to find the hart of there company….. tho it be funny if all they got was “ERROR LOCATION NOT FOUND” when they use it.

  15. Thanks for the chapter!!!

I’m kind of digging the demons right now, far better than the hyuman nations, at least. I really want Kuzunoha Co. and the demons to have a good working relationship, after Makoto shows them their place, of course 😛

    1. No, yeah. Totally.

The thing is, the demons-especially Zef and Sari-seem to have a much better read on Makoto’s power(that is, they realize the immeasurable result they keep getting is the literal result). As a result, they’re handling him in a very prudent and sensible way to minimize the danger to themselves. Couple that with their ability to make good decisions given the information at their disposal and I’d say they’re worthy of respect. The only problem is that Kuzunoha isn’t giving them a lot of info to work with and misunderstandings make them seem like even scarier devils than they actually are.

    1. What? Why?

I’m actually excited to learn more about her reaction because Zef prodded at her Makoto button in a good way and even drew out some of his preferences for her to chase.

      1. But he also said he saw her as family. Mio and Tomoe talked about how Makoto started to viewed them as family and that night when he got wasted. Also that it may have been the last chance for them to form a lover’s relationship with him.

  16. God. Makoto, you need to do both Tomoe and Mio already. They have wait too long for you. You knew their feeling and you even seen dream tomoe kiss your “self”. Be a man and pull them to bed. I’m sure TOmoe and Mio will be very happy

      1. ….That’s a good point.

Makoto gibbed a Liz by accident when he first arrived after starving for 3 days. While I’m sure Tomoe and Mio would be fine(…actually Mio might even be into weird stuff), there’s no accounting for collateral damage.

Unless the Eldwarfs made a legendary class bed I guess.

    1. Same here.
I guess, hosting a hack-able telepathic communication could be one of Sari scheme?

Or, maybe the idea of sending an ambassador to Kaleoen / Kuzunoha as intern (which is better than having a wife)?

  17. “No! At the very least, take one of my daughters.” (Zef)
really Makoto needs more balls, if you don’t want show a displeased face. he really needs to steel his resolve

      1. Here we aren’t talking about harem, is about Makoto not having balls to say, “no thanks don’t insists anymore about marriage” or to say “no” to Lots of things he doesn’t want and don’t say it clear enough.

  18. Thanks for the chapter!
I’m more worried about Tomoki guy, he seems to want more power. Fortunately, the goddess can’t interfere much due to the restrictions put on her. But she’s a cunning villain after all so no guarantee of her being sensible and she even if restricted in power is still the goddess of that world.
Hibiki might become more favorable due to her connection with Lime, Lime will probably end up being used, though.
So much politics. But I find this Demon Lord more favorable than hyumans.

      1. make you wonder what will Tomoki will do if he discover that in power wise Makoto is on GOD lev and also made a world.

  19. I feel like I’ve gone through the same situation with Family gatherings and older Family friends and drinking start talk about ther daughters in a Way as say are you interested i always make sure Not to get to drunk so I won’t end up agreeing to something 😅

  20. あhh mio is holding herself back fors ure..
not from happiness of makoto and her implications
    but..
from tearing all the girls in that room to bits.

  21. Thx for the chapter as always……
unfortunately, the author did not include Mio POV when Zef asked what type of woman that Makoto likes….
but I wonder if later chapter he will include it….and what the hell is the plan that Sari have in mind as she did reject to marry makoto while in the last chapter she said that it will be the last time she gaze around the high spirit temples………….

  22. “As Shiki-dono said, it seems a catalyst that dissolves into the air was used, and it is some sort of strong ritual magic that lasts for several days”. Does else think that there’s a possible connection to the ritual that gave Chiya her new ability.

    1. this bit*h is still speaking a lot . i want to rally see her grovel on the ground for her mistake and suffer countless horrible treatments .how can she claim him to be childish and late bloomer . from his perspective its them who are involved in meaningless and childish wars . just because you have some petty ideals doesn’t mean you reject hers . so one of the worst girls ever just have her marry some low goblin , that’s fitting for her . She is just like rona who still claimed she could do something after seeing raidou as devil . Face reality damn .
      Sorry for the rant

      1. by childish and late bloomer.

Sari is talking about Makoto’s opinion and take on women and relationships. It was not about politics or wars. (Though it was one of their aims)

It is how she felt Makoto feel about girl-boy relationship and marriage. How he is uncomfortable and shy away from the topic.

      2. dude, you need to chill the fuck out!

firstly, I think she is right. Compared to other people of his age, he is immature.

secondly, you are the one being childish by wishing her to “grovel on the ground and suffer countless horrible treatments” only for a different opinion, and with your attitude of “I am stronger so all of you are worthless.” just because makoto can crush both sides at the same time doesn’t mean the war is “childish” or “meaningless”.

        1. Actually, you bring up an interesting point.

The maturity curve for this world seems slightly steep, doesn’t it? Rinon really has everything together despite being what? 9? 10?

There’s also one of Makoto’s students being married already.

  23. So demons already realized that Shiki has biggest influence toward Raidou and can deduce Mio’s and Makoto’s nature already? Wow, no wonder Bug need to give 2 heroes with OP power since the demon’s side is too damn smart and accomplished already. Just from seeing relatively same amount of information, their analysis and conclusion is far better and reasonable compared to Hibiki’s.

    1. that is because the demons know that Makoto is devil.

If hibiki is knows it, she would also be scheme or , at least, try to come up with plans to deal with Makoto.

Weil, I do think that demons are better than Hibiki as they don’t intend to use Makoto anymore and are on the “don’t agitate Kuzunoha” policy.
While, Hibiki, still think that she can seduce Makoto with words and the senpai/kouhai relationship when they are already in a different world and concluded that Kuzunoha is powerful

      1. then hibiki might be disapointed for Kuzunoha is extremely neutral for they will sell stuff to both sides but nothing that screams “I can be use in war’s” like weapons (excluding the town ware it at the edge of the world).

    2. If it was the hyumans then I bet their analysis would be completely off about Makoto, Shiki & Mio, like that time Makoto was walking around the festival with Faltz(Root), Tomoe & Mio and the hyumans came to the conclusion that Makoto was forcing Faltz and his(Faltz) escorts to accompany him(Makoto) around the festival.

      1. To be fair, the hyumans at that time were civilians who live according the the shallow, easy-mode lifestyle of hyumans.

Here, we’re dealing with admin level demons and even their civilians judge by power instead, so it’s natural to see different results.

  24. To sum it up, our Makoto is currently being cornered into a hole to accept one of the Demon’s royal member into his hand. Sure is we’re had a bad vibe about the incoming match. IT’S GONNA HAPEN….!!!
And yeah, our MC still struggle with the power that rival god he currently have, especially when the demon race use their ‘scanner’ to measurize him and his allies. And nope, our Mio is that jealoussy but yet out of control and not yet reach to yandere point( it’s on my own measurements, sorry if it not suit you).
IF the demon inflitration and inteligence force discover out all the whole fact behind Makoto/ Raidou existance, they sure will be at their witt’s end with how to deal with him( since he made multiple contact with the Bug, the god who sent him/ the one help him with beginer’s support and the group of Ancient God+Godness that visit his Asora, it could surge their anger and presume him work for the Bug that control this world, while in fact, ha work his @ss out try to survive and having a life without problem, which is those problem is came from his unparallel power, LMAO).
Anyway, thanks 4 the update, and pls don’t overload your precious PC. We need it so you can update more chapter.
    :v

    1. trust me is the demon royalty got there hand’s on Makoto/ Raidou resume of what he had done they might give up all together.
      ——-
1: performed a “master surven” contract with a superior dragon and he the master
      2:made a GOD DAME WORLD!!!!”
3: satisfy and formed a “master surven” contract with the forever hungry spider of clammy.
      ——-
and ill leave it there for him befriending god’s the fact that he made a body out of magic and destroy a fort in one attack will seem like small potatoes.

    2. I think that if they were to know that he knows the goddess (but is against her way of thinking) and is friendly with otherworldly gods they would be even more in a “DON’T MAKE THE KUZUNOHA INTO ENEMIES” mood

      1. They should already be aware of his connection to the goddess and how he feels about her way of thinking to some extent because of the things he said to Io while they were fighting back in Limia Capital.

When Makoto was wearing the white power suit he blatantly voiced some of his dissatisfaction about the goddess.

        1. Hmm. In the reader’s opinion, would it be a bad thing for Makoto to voice his displeasure at the goddess-or even talk about his connection to her?

On one hand, it might be a foothold for the demons to try to manipulate him. On the other, it might serve to improve relations under a mutual enemy.

  25. Awesome, a new chapter

    Thx as always
You don’t have to worry about making us wait a bit. We’re actually being spoiled by your pace of releasing chapter.

  26. we have the same taste for woman Mokoto-dono!

is that the plan sari was talking about?
to tie him to the demonkin not by political marriage but by business?
certainly for merchant, you wouldn’t be able to let go a country with a free pass and tax free
it will be a gold mine

I’m starting to like Zef more as time passes
it’s like he is a father or brother figure that can teach Makoto a lot of things
I really hope he would become Makoto’s follower

    1. I think Zef shouldn’t be his follower.
Zef’s only thought is to better demon’s lives.

This could be a problem to Makoto as he had made a verbal promise not to show antagonism towards hyuman with the
If Zef became Makoto’s follower, can argue that Makoto had broken the promise and would go all-out to destroy Makoto since she don’t like him to begin with (although she seems to know that Makoto is stronger than her “Heroes”)

      1. I know that he won’t be a follow
I want Zef to be his follower assuming that Zef loyalty would weight more on makoto than the demons
and irrc corectly makoto didn’t promise anything
its a one sided threat of the bug to makoto
since makoto’s antagonism against bug would not fade
and its not like it have to immediately happen
I assume that by the future Makoto will get stronger to the level of the bug
he was able to damage athena which is supposed to be stronger than bug
        and the makotoAlter2
was able to destroy Lorel into a sand dessert and the goddess still didn’t show up
with Makotoalter3 Goddess was only able to cause death Mio and Tomoe and not Makoto and it has something to do with the heroes too
he was planning to confront goddess again after that means he will be able to fight her

  27. Makoto should go on the offensive here.
Ask Zeff if he is insulting him intentionally.
Instead of trying to politely decline, just act offended by the very offer.
Say he is offering him shackles and claiming them jewelry and demand to know just what benefit would accepting one of his daughters offer him that he could not get otherwise.

  28. UGH, god, he i know it’s his character, but seriously, Makoto can’t at least show some awareness that he’s powerful. OH NO DONT GIVE ME ALL THIS STUFF IM JUST A PUSSY MERCHANT. IM NOT SUPPOSED TO BE NEXT TO ZEF, OH NO! god damn he’s a beta as all hell. At least have him aware that he is on the same level as a demon king, even though he is about a lot times more powerful.

    1. he hmbel to the extrem but trust me when push come to shove or is mad he will show his strength to the fulles just think of it as a way to throw off thews who wants to do harm to him.

    2. He’s not just being beta you know? Humility is a major part of japanese culture, especially in business relationships. It’s one of the reasons why both him and Hibiki are instantly taken aback by Trashmoki’s arrogant and overbearing manner of speech.
It’s common sense that if someone praises you that you wave it aside and claim it was something anyone could do, or was thanks to the help of everyone else. Japanese act that way, even if it’s just for appearances and really do think they achieved the most.
No matter how powerful he’s become, he can’t become a different person just like that. Though it’s fine if he changes gradually due to get accustomed to power and status, if he instantly starts swaggering around and gets drunk on power the moment he’s treated as a special existence, then he’s no different tha Trashmoki……

  29. I wasn’t supposed to give a reaction for a while, especially this whole time the 5-yr old Makoto was flustered about the topic of women. But, Reigo-san has a way with words that kept penetrating through. Add that to make a block of words forming sentence after sentence… breaking all layers of barriers, until finally, my water broke.

“Saying that, Zef shifts his seat towards me, and closes himself to a point where his body is in contact with mine.

And then, from his pocket, he takes out something ‘cylindrical’.

    It is not ‘big’.

It is a looong and thin cylinder.”

Ahh… how the Demon Race are dense. I’d love to see everyones faces when they realize they were looking at it wrong. That they should have presented him with Men instead.

    Cheers for the hardwork~
also, demn… 11 in queue? do you know sleep? riploljkgl

  30. I’m surprised that they actually gave him their country’s map. In this type of society, that’s like handing over their most valuable resources and treasures. Accurate maps are state secrets for them.

    1. Which in turn, acts as an extreme show of goodwill and desire to not be enemies with them as well as an apology for the inconvenience. Basically showing enough trust in Makoto to put the figurative sword on the demon race’s neck. (Even tough it was already there). Its pretty much psychological manipulation to have Makoto not attack them (Either due to their goodwill or due to making him think he just doesn’t need to.)

    2. simple to give a fake sense of trust.. if you cant defeat or buy an enemy you should give them something that will feel that you gave them a secret/item/info that can turn the tables on you to give that fake sense of complete trust

    3. I personally think that Zef already aware that if Kuzunoha decided to do something to demon race, they can accomplish whatever they want, with or without the map. On the surface, it looks like the map is very precious secret (of course this is true if the other side is someone else not kuzunoha) but essentially, for kuzunoha this map will only serve as somekind of sidenotes while they can get the entire textbook if they wish so. Zef already aware of this, so he maybe thinks that might as well give the map to show demon race’s goodwill toward kuzunoha.

  31. “Fire mountain” xD xD I’m not sure if you translated it wrong, ex: A) Mountain fire, B) Volcano or I just haven’t caught up on all the possible mountains of the world.

    1. What hiding?

Its been out the whole time. Shiki knows it. Mio has an idea. Hell, Tomoe who isnt here predicted/expected it. Lovely Ema too. If Makoto didn’t eavesdrop, he would not get a clue in forever. But, despite knowing their aim, he could not present a decent refusal.

  32. Thanks for the chapter……………..
Just screw Mio already… she’s ready and waiting you know ?
Just imagine the cute scene where Mio can have no excuse anymore, it would be too cute.

  33. Almost think that one of the demon lord children’s going to be one of his subordinate lol

    Thanks for the chapter~

  34. WAHAHAHAHA! Thank you for the chapter!

Man, talk about a reward, huh? And Sari really guessed correctly about Makoto being a late bloomer! I wonder if we’ll get more info on Mio’s reaction…

    That ending though LOL

  35. I have a good suspicion that Sari’s idea is the equivalent of an internship. Oh? That’s right we’re talking about Makoto’s taste, huh….
Well…*shrugs* Are we anywhere near the Romance Arc? I will be on team Ema, regardless.

  36. Damn that Sari, if its her plan on whats Zef’s doing, i’ll be damned….. its like this:

Zef: ill give you this how about? will you accept?
    Makoto: yes!
Zef: I’ll give her to you, will you accept?
    Makoto: no
Zef: next is this, is it ok?
    Makoto: yes
    Zef: ill give her
    Makoto: no
    Zef: ill give this
    Makoto: yes
    Zef: ill give this
    Makoto: yes
    Zef: ill give this(her)
    Makoto: ye.. no!
Zef: (damn! almost! then next! )

    1. Well.. the truth is that Sari seems she saw what Makoto objective in the demon race, and gave him full of benefits for the kuzunoha, which will actually benefits them as well, just like what rembrandt feels about them being a merchant. She’s smart so maybe She reached that point. They’ll just make a big gratitude that’ll feel like a big debt, i think…

  37. I got a question. How big is the world of the bug and asora? from the looks of it the bugs world it resembles japan a lot so maybe as big as japan? but that will be so small. Also it was said asora looks like japan too and it was because of makotos homesickness. And that got me wonder, is the bug a japanesse person? That would explain why that world looks like japan. Really though, I think the bugs world is pretty small or is there other island that isnt shown. I would not be surprised if that isnt the only place in that world and there are many gods handling it just that the people from bugs island doesnt know about the outside world like with Attack on Titan. But that doesnt likely the case because of the way shiva and the other gods talks about the bugs world. Anyways just how big is the bugs world and makotos world? big as the moon? same as earth?

    btw thanks for the chapter!

    1. As I understand it (working off memory), Bug’s world is Japan, but enlarged to the extreme.

The major continent is Japan-shaped, but I don’t think it’s even been fully mapped out yet, considering the wasteland areas.

  38. I’m not liking this, they’re manipulating Makoto through their actions, in a way that I believe they are very convinced to act as they see fit, I kind of sinned because the zef gave all those features for the makoto and the plan of the sari because of the comments of the spoiler-san, so I am disturbed, because he kind of is manipulated, I do not like it…

    1. I think that on this occasion it’s more a case of allowing oneself to be manipulated.

While Makoto certainly got swept up in the flow, that only makes it more believable. If things were to proceed in a direction that’s unfavorable to Makoto, Shiki or Mio would act, or at the very least inform Makoto through thought transmission. They are most definitely listening in on the conversation.

Since they haven’t, they must have judged it not to be a problem.

    2. To be fair, I can really sympathize with the demons.

All the plotting and manipulation is rooted in a desperation to survive. They’re not even trying to convince Makoto to fight for them. They’re just scared of being his enemies and have no way of guaranteeing that he won’t.

If you were locked in a pen with that one super raptor in Jurassic World, even if you were told it wouldn’t attack you without reason you’d do anything you could to protect yourself.

  39. I don’t think Mio will take this as rejection? I wouldn’t. She got to learn more about his feelings and in the first place he sounds like a boy with a crush, flustered and making excuses.

Certainly they are close enough to be family, but if he says he doesn’t view them as love interests at all, I can only think he is fooling himself. That said, Makoto x Shiki OTP.

    1. Really? I personally feel he’s treating Tomoe and Mio not much different than his sisters back home. Basically when you like another person, especially if you’re a japanese girl, you’ll usually go out of your way to show them your good side and hide your flaws etc. While those two just do whatever they please and cause him as much trouble as they do good. Which from Makoto’s PoV might be no different how family treat each other, showing all the good and bad, helping each other out and forgiving anything dumb or selfish they do.
For Makoto especially, I think that was the kind of relationship he had with his sisters, the long suffering kind where they did whatever they wanted and he just had to handle it somehow.
He’s surely aware they are both beautiful women and a part of him might react to that, but the rest of him will just shake his head and knock some sense into that part with the thought of “what are you thinking about your family”, not much different from if one of his sisters came out of the bath wearing nothing but a towel, or the usual stuff a brother growing up with similar aged sisters has to deal with.
It’s not hard to believe he’s subconsciously slotted them into that role, especially when he was so sick for his home and family when he first arrived. He seems to be the naive type about love, who’s longing for that old fashioned first love romance, slowly falling for a girl and finally calling her to the sacred tree to confess, that sort of idealised stuff? Just my impression.

  40. Thanks for the chapter Reigokai!

This went pretty much as I expected, and it looks like Sari is the closest to understanding Makoto’s real character so I’m interested in what she’s going to do (I don’t want spoilers, just anticipation).
If she intends to get close to Makoto, she’ll have to take a less direct route. Maybe she could defect to Kuzunoha and then gradually appeal to him as she grows up, cultivating herself to be the kind of girl he likes? That might be possible, though she’d still be in constant danger from Tome/Mio. She wouldn’t be able to take any direct moves and would have to depend completely on Makoto falling in love with her himself. That’s the only way Tomoe/Mio would be forced to accept it.
Well the ‘friendly match’ won’t hold much suspense, short of another incident occurring at the same time like during the tournament at the academy festival? That wouldn’t surprise me. Whoever was responsible for the spirit’s going beserk might make their move then.

  41. This isn’t really related to this chapter, but I hope both Tomoki and Hibiki get taken care of in some way sometime soon.

Both of them have mind-fuck type powers that I’m not so hot on; Tomoki’s is more blatantly mind control whIle Hibiki’s basically makes people loyal to her to a fault (unless Tomoki gets to them). Also, neither of them feel guilty about having powers like that.

Speaking of which, I totally get why Bug would give them those kinds of powers. She doesn’t give a shit about her peoples’ well beings, only that they worship her. Since she gave the heroes their powers, they’re more likely to see her in good terms and Bug won’t care if her other followers actually want to follow her or are just puppets.

Slightly more on topic, I’m not usually a fan of harems, but for both Tomoe’s and Mio’s sakes I hope Makoto eventually views them more intimately than family. Though the Makothree dream seems like it may have started the ball rolling for Tomoe at least.

    1. I have two theories about their powers, if the Bug is not stupid and simply not THAT smart I shouldn’t be wrong.
1-She wanted stronger hyumans so she used Tomoki as a breeding horse to get them.
2-She saw Hibiki as capable and gave her that power to give her an easy life.
That tell us Bug is not a “Motherly” Goddess but one based on vanity and beauty since she only cares about hyumans as “toys”, although she seems to favor women in general but they don’t overly occupy military and political power, Bug only permitted polygamy to create a race of gold-diggers.She’s a bit confusing as a character.

      1. I think that’s mainly because Bug doesn’t get a lot of screen time nor any POV moments.

Since we only see her indirect actions for the most part, it’s hard to tell which is intentional, which isn’t, and what her overarching desires are.

All we know for sure is that she’s a huuuuge b*tch. Which is fine by me, since fug giving her any screen time.

  42. When I think Makoto is referring to his previous club president who confessed…. and besides, we haven’t had any side stories of what she’s been doing on earth and the fact that his parents are from this world. I mean, Makoto’s parents somehow went to earth, so I don’t think its too far-fetched to think that club-prez would be heading over from his parent’s guidance…

  43. Thanks for the updates, goos chapter today that Zeft, really he problably will throw in the package his son if Makoto gave hints of playing in that field!!!!

  44. Oy, oy, I feel that chapters these days are great !

Hum, so even when such a desavantageous war occurs, there are still fools who create internal problems ?
Yare yare, spare me that kind of bad joke…
Actually would it be someone from that Ikemou’s (Ikemen + Maou) children ?

Come on, MC-chan ! You can’t be drunk from just one barrel or two ! AHAHAHAHAHAHAH !
If it weren’t you, that Spider might have made a carnage !

There is a good theorie about that Chibi Akuma’s plan, saying it is to bring closer MC-chan and that Ikemou.
But, I have the impression that something is still lacking.

I am wondering… It’s been said previously that demons weren’t blessed with the common language, then they have to learn it by themselves.
Let aside the generals, the children, (or merchants) but what about common people ? They might be speaking some kind of dialect. So how could MC-chan deal (peacefully) with them ?
What about that chibi akuma is planning to follow him as demonic culture’s teacher (or something amoung those lines) ? She never said she wouldn’t join him, she just said she’ll not marry him !

Tch, I feel that my english is about to break ! AHAHAHAHAHAHAH !

    Thanks for your work !

    1. Well, the only blessing Makoto received from the Bug was the ability to understand any language. He can even understand mamonos, so He can easily talk with de commoners demons.

    2. C’mon guys ! We all know this ! But how the hell, could those demons know something like that ?!

I’m talking from their point of view !

      1. They’re too busy thinking about Makoto’s, and his followers’, overwhelming power, to concern themselves with less important details, like his ability to converse with them fluently.

They probably decided that Kuzunoha Company did their own research on the Demons, and Makoto learned their language as a matter of course, since he expected it to be useful to understand both of the major players of that world. Plus, they know he has Larva, who himself probably knew how to speak with Demons, as a consequence of working with Rona.

To them, it’s just another aspect of Makoto’s overwhelming awesomeness. 😀

  45. It occurred to me that the reason Zef is pushing so hard is that at some point, Zef will pretend to give in and say, “at least let one of my daughters accompany you.” and Makoto will be so relieved he’s not talking about marriage anymore, he’ll agree.

  46. i think makoto have self inferiority complex.
he already reject 2 girl even thought he likes them, just because the majority of girl think he was ugly
you reject the minority girl that like you, and stills thinks there’s noway there is a girl that like me

    1. If I remember correctly he rejected them because he didn’t love them, Makoto might be a bit traditional in love.
The extra chapters never mentioned that he rejected them because he though himself beneath them, there might be some hints in the main story but I haven’s seen them.

  47. If Tomoe was there, I’m sure she would suggest to Makoto that they should just bring all of the demons/demi-humans to Asora as it seems like there’s plenty of room now and the only real reason the demons have for waging war with the hyumans is because of lack of resources and not having a hospitable enough living environment. I’m sure Makoto would be wary at first, remembering what happened with the adventurer exploding one of his rings, but Zef seems open enough to negotiation and Makoto can easily handle things if they get out of hand. Bug would be ecstatic to find out she doesn’t have to worry about the demons anymore, so that’s the only downside….Bug just doesn’t deserve anything good going for her.

    1. No, it’s not that simple. The adventurer thing is a bigger minus than you think. All it took was one selfish and conceited individual to get people killed. The demon race and their allies are too vast in number to avoid incidents-in fact, a demon might be even more resourceful and underhanded when acting in self-interest. Makoto as lord considers the safety and peace of the Asorans highest priority.

This isn’t even getting into information leakage of Asora’s existance or the fact that the Demons don’t have anything to offer as subordinates.

It does make me feel bad for them though. If I were Makoto, I’d be considering warping out a piece of Asora’s fertile land to create a strategically placed island or something for them. Since Tomoe could swallow the orc village with her mist, surely something similar could be done in the opposite direction?

    2. Psychro is right.
Also, don’t forget the biggest problem, their mentality !

Those demons are craving for power, sure that’s a consequence of the treatment they received and the lack of resources, but don’t think that just by supplying their needs (respect/land) they will stop deciding everything through power.

Changing decades (who know how many) of culture engraved in heart isn’t as simple as you think ! Just watch MC-chan ! AHAHAHAHAHAHAH !

    3. Just don’t forget that moving a couple hundred of people to Asora is one thing and moving the entire demon race is another. What if there are millions of demons?
Even if there is anough land in Asora for them moving that magnitude of people is very difficult. Even if there are only a couple 100k demons that still would require many years to accomplish.
First they would need to build towns for them and prepare means to feed all those people (unless Tomoe can transfer whole towns and cities too).

  48. hahaha that demon lord sure knows how to negotiate. I get a feeling Sari will be chosen and ends up doing a contract with him becoming the strongest demon ever existed.

    1. considering shiki needed 13 rings as a buff to just make it to servant contract and makoto has become alot more powerful in the meantime since he is doing his bow exercises now on the other gods suggestion i cant imagine what sort of boost she would need to be able to make a contract with him, maybe a contract though one of his 3?

  49. How strange…. if their common sense need to break and be more exagerated. How come they didnt concluded that theyre power(kuzunoha) could reach the throat of that bug already.

Also, wonder if theres a chance that rembrant and zef would meet, of course theres the topic of marriage XD , i kinda feel like theres harmony there somehow

    1. They did conclude the fact that Makoto can kill the Goddess because that’s ridiculous to suggest! To them, the Goddess is someone above all mortal beings. Even if Makoto is strong, he is still mortal, so the demons surmised that the Goddess is ultimately stronger.

    1. I agree.

But few things bring out the paranoia in people more than a neutral party. At least with others, you know where they stand, even if they’re your enemy.

In this case, the Demons only accepted Kuzunoha’s claim of neutrality, because they realize that they stand no chance as enemies. They know they only exist at the whim of Kuzunoha Company, so they play along.

As you said, they’ve enforced their neutrality with the Demons through the implied threat of violence.

Hyumans on the other hand, are running from reality. They’re already getting their asses handed to them by the Demons, and are unwilling to acknowledge that there could be anyone much worse than that. Even Hibiki herself reflects that thought process, and Tomoki is just a sore loser, who refuses to believe that anyone could be better than him.

Hyumans will definitely refuse Kuzunoha’s claims. They will even make them out to be in league with the Demons.

It will be interesting to see how Makoto will deal with Hyumans, once they start getting too annoying. After all, he himself can’t do too much to them because of the deal with bug, and he will have to stop his followers if he finds out that they’ve been dealing with Hyumans on his behalf. In other words, violence is not an option, and a threat of violence will be ignored.

He could try dangling some amazing deals in front of the Hyumans, then tell them they won’t be getting any if they don’t calm down, and remind them that he is already making deals with the Demons. It’s up to them if they want the Demons to be the only ones to get the benefits. But that will still not stop Hyumans from trying all kinds of schemes.

The demons are too afraid to try that. The Hyumans are too foolish not to.

      1. Yeah. The Demon King is smart enough to know not to poke a sleeping dragon. I’m not sure if any of the hyuman leaders are that smart.

      2. Haha! Well said! Correct me if I’m wrong, but don’t hyuman factions have a habit of breaking treaties and backstabbing supposed allies?

To be honest, while the demon side is understandably paranoid, this is to their favor when they think about it. Knowing hyuman nature, the other side is going to muck things up with Kuzunoha first. As long as they stay out of the crossfire and don’t provoke them, they’ll get to benefit from Kuzunoha by virtue of being enemies with a race of entitled idiots.

Also, just because Makoto was warned not to attack hyumans doesn’t mean he can’t directly ruin their day. Off the top of my head, warping attacking armies to the wasteland in the middle of hostile monster nests, crippling their magical defensive or transportation systems, exposing national secrets to the world, terraforming the landscape into disadvantageous conditions, or heck, planting an apple tree to suck away all fertility from a previously prosperous land(admittedly only a cool idea that’s probably not worth the downsides). And none of these are even economic attacks.

        1. “a race of entitled idiots.”

That’s what happens when you put all your points into Charisma during character creation.

Adding to the benefit you mentioned, Kuzunoha doesn’t need to supply them with military equipment. Just selling food to the Demons will be a great benefit to them, since I imagine producing food is currently their most important issue.

In turn, it will allow the Demons to free up a lot of their population, whom they can then reassign to either extracting other resources (like metals and fuels to produce tools and weapons), or even bolstering their military.

Hyumans will be, at best, reluctant to purchase anything in the “common” category (like food, materials or tools), because it will ruffle too many feathers with their own merchants and nobles, who focus on producing/selling those types of goods.

The Demons’ economy will flourish by dealing with Kuzunoha. The Hyuman economy, however, could collapse if they’re not careful.

They’ll end up shooting themselves in the foot because the different Hyuman factions will be obstructing each other from benefiting from Kuzunoha’s offers.

    2. They did conclude the fact that Makoto can kill the Goddess because that’s ridiculous to suggest! To them, the Goddess is someone above all mortal beings. Even if Makoto is strong, he is still mortal, so the demons surmised that the Goddess is ultimately stronger.

  50. Ya know, I just thought of it but aren’t these dreams actually visions from the “secret” power Susanoo gave Raidou that he forgot or deliberately didn’t tell him about?

  51. so basically the “seed planted” that sari was saying means that the demon race would root for mio in getting makoto? or the fact that they would put one of the daughters in a ruling pact (since slave pact would make the inferior one to turn into a mindless doll)

    1. I believe the type of pact it becomes depends on the difference in power between the two individuals.

We have a Shen PoV, in the early chapters, from when the pact was being formed, and the initial plan was for a 50/50 pact, but when the ritual started, Shen was unable to complete it at that “setting”, as she couldn’t match Makoto’s power, so she had to aim lower (from her perspective).

Otherwise, if they could decide beforehand what contract they want, they wouldn’t have had to go through all that trouble when making a pact with Larva. They had to boost Larva’s power with Makoto’s rings, as well as Makoto actively suppressing his own power. Even then they just barely made it, and Makoto’s gotten even stronger since.

As for the seed, I haven’t even given it any thought until you brought it up. I suppose having Sari become BFF’s with Mio sounds reasonable (I take it that’s along the lines of what you were suggesting).

One thing that comes to mind at the moment, is that Sari may have been aware that Makoto was listening in on the thought transmission conversation between herself and Lucia, or at least she suspect he did. This is pretty weak, since no one there would be able to sense Makoto’s Sakai in the first place, but it is possible she simply deduced it from observing him.

We know from Makoto’s conversation with Zef that he doesn’t have the best of poker faces, and he could even have given it away with his body language when he got surprised by the mention of marriage. At the time Sari was too preoccupied with their current situation, but she might have noticed that when she was going over the events afterwards.

We do know she’s very perceptive. Just in this chapter, she surprised everyone with her insights into the inner dynamics of Makoto’s group.

Honestly though, I have absolutely no idea.

  52. I put this on hold when chapter 165 was released and started waiting for more to be posted.

Now that its getting updates like mushrooms after rain, i went and binge read this entire thing in less than 3days….Sleep is for the weak and so on, but it was worth it 😀 I got close of dropping this during the Academy town arch (it was REALLY boring), but it’s nice to see that it’s back to better again!

  53. Why does Makoto not just offer the demons a place in Asora? I mean the Demon King wants fertile land and Asora has tracks of it. Merits of this would be that the war would end; and the demons will be in even more good terms with the Kuzunoha Company.

  54. Thanks for the chapters untill now, I didn’t properly thanked yet. (I’ll do it again later)
This is fun, learning english while reading a novel.
Zef’s discussion about him giving his daughters made my day wwww

    1. Aw, sorry I forgot about the www
it means warawarawara, like in [笑う] [warau] [laugh], the more ‘w’ you put, the more you laugh, this is commonly used in japan, be it games, websites, etc…

  55. Zef was disgusting in this chapter, to compare him to someone it would Trump. Total disregard to women rights and absolute confidence in his immunity as ruler.

  56. that Makoto irritating piece of garbage is getting on my nerves again, does the author really enjoy degrading his character to this extent?

  57. So as I though Sari will try to become a employee of Kuzunoha? It’s the best thing I think see could do, it’s obvious that she will star from below and they will be cautious of her, but is more realistic than marriage and could be a great move.
