Chapter 178: Tomoki Appears

I have been betrayed by the Empire.

A snow country metropolis in a fantasy world.

I was actually really looking forward to the imperial capital’s appearance. Wondering what kind of illusory-like land it might be.

Like for example; a steampunk-looking place with steam coming out here and there.

Seriously, there’s nothing like that here.

It may be splendid, but well, it gives the impression of a fortress.

If it is like this, the first town I arrived to called Robin gave more of a snowy country than this.

A teleportation facility that can overlook the imperial capital of Ruinas.

There’s still one more teleport formation to arrive inside Ruinas, but the guides that followed us from Robin told us to please look at the imperial capital and gave us time here.

From what seems to be a mountainous area of tall mountains, what can be seen from below is a big city.

Even though its circumference is bright white with snow, the inside of the city looks normal like the one of Rotsgard.

There’s no snow piled up.

In those points, I think magic is involved.

It is heavily different from what I was expecting…

The imperial capital has a circular shape with three outer walls that demarcate the central and outside circumference.

At the very center there’s a castle I can see even from here, so that must be where the emperor is.

It seems like they place social classes to the people living in the imperial capital, so those outer walls are probably the representation of the difference between the people that live there.

A society reigned by social position huh.

An obvious difference is seen in the standings between hyumans and demons, so it isn’t strange to see differences within hyumans.

It might be a good chance to feel it with my own skin at least once.

“What do you think of the imperial capital, Waka?” (Shiki)

“I had an image that it would be more like… filled with snow or icy.” (Makoto)

“Me too. How to say it, it is a city with no elegance.” (Tomoe)

“That’s different from expectation huh. This time it will be a stay of about 2 days. There’s not much time to look around, so I am happy that they are showing us its entirety in this way. To investigate the atmosphere of the city, maybe I should leave that job to Shiki?” (Makoto)

The one guiding us has already been settled by Root to Princess Lily.

Later, we will be doing a teleportation once more, and then, after receiving several inspections, we will head to the place of the princess. There, we will meet the hero and the princess.

The Empire’s hero, Iwahashi Tomoki.

It seems he is 2 years younger than me, but as a hero, he has been playing quite the big role.

I wonder if the crater that can be seen slightly further away from the imperial capital was his doing.

If I am able to ask him about it, let’s try asking.

I am half looking forward to it and half uneasy.

While thinking hopefully about the second hero I will be meeting, I step onto the teleport formation.

“Well then Raidou-sama, please wait in this room here. The two there, I ask you to follow us.”

The two are guided into the castle and disappear into its depths.

Being the only one left now, I open the door and wait. I follow the instructions of the guide that was here moments ago and enter the room at the left side.

It seems to be the norm to have the representative and the other party wait in different places when doing their greetings, and it is not like this is just a custom done only in negotiations.

Even if they isolate me in a business relationship, I have already decided that there will be no other conclusion than demanding to leave, so there’s not much point in doing so though.

If not, there would be no point in having Tomoe and Shiki accompanying me.

But I thought that the one isolated would be Tomoe. This is a bit unexpected.

I look at my given room as I wait.

As expected of the castle of a large country and the place where the emperor is in.

Leaving aside mine, this reception room is a lot more extravagant than the one from Zara-san and Rembrandt-san.

It’s embarrassing to say but, I have personally seen with my own eyes such a big city within this thick snow; witnessing the power of the empire, I thought that maybe we are out-of-place. That I am now able to meet with someone who I knew when in Rotsgard, I am slightly relieved.” (Makoto)

“I am happy that you praise our imperial capital. It is sad that it will be a short stay, and here I thought about escorting you and make sure you would have fun. However, when I saw your face, a desire of having you make a store at our country in your return has been borned. Please do consider it.” (Lily)

Her atmosphere is softer in its entirety compared to the time I met her in Rotsgard.

Is it because it is her own country?

But I was told that there would be no negotiation, yet, it already feels as if the odds and ends of the words have already deviated from mere casual talk.

More so because her mouth looks gentle, but the depths of her eyes were not smiling.

As I thought, I am no good with her.

And, the one at her side is probably the hero. He is standing right beside the princess, so there’s no mistake, right?

He is supposed to be Japanese, but maybe it is called *odd-eye*, the color of his eyes are different and the color of his hair is a natural silver.

Did he tamper with his appearance?

Or was he originally a half or a quarter?

I heard that he was two years younger from senpai, but his height is definitely over 180cm. A handsome man that wouldn’t look out of place in this world of hyumans.

I see. This type of people is what that Goddess prefers huh.

“Hah? Why would I do that for a stranger just because he was born earlier? I am the type of person that feels like changing one’s behavior depending on the person are the ones who are rude.” (Tomoki)

Being born earlier, and the fact that I am a stranger…. For me, this is plenty reason to be using formal speech though.

Hibiki-senpai, if you knew he was this kind of person, please tell me beforehand.

If you had done that, I would have been able to come here with my expectations low.

“In the first place, if you are talking about being formal, you who are a mere merchant should be the one being formal since I am the hero. You who changed your behavior because we are the same Japanese and have an age difference, shouldn’t be speaking about others, right? I see. I can kind of understand why Tomoe hates him.

Leaving aside every single word he says, I can tell that he is trying to interpret everything in a way that fits him better.

Not only double standards, he feels like the type that would easily place triple to quadruple standards.

    1. Kinda offensive to heroes if he is called a hero. If Hero BBS was connected to that universe , they would not include him. Hero BBS standards of being considered a hero is pretty low already considering they accepted a maou as a hero, trolls, a mind controlling maid, troublemakers and mavericks.

          It’s about a bunch of hero story protagonists forming a support network(mostly like reddit) spanning across their many worlds. There are summoned heroes, transformation heroes, social reformation heroes, harem heroes… all that good stuff.

    Maybe the reason why Makoto was separated from Tomoe and Shiki was so that Trashmoki could ‘persuade’ Raidou into giving up Tomoe using brute force?

    Anyways, yep as expected, being a hero pretty much destroyed any attitude of being a Japanese person in Trashmoki. Since he treated the Hero Hibiki as someone fit to be part of his harem, whether you are a princess, noble, merchant, commoner or slave, he’ll treat you as being far beneath him. He thinks that being a hero he can get anything he wants. Demands that everything falls into his lap, and that anyone who doesn’t comply deserves to die.

    Example: How he tried to stab Tomoe when she refused his invitation and revealed that she knows about his charm eyes.

    He’s pretty much an example on how NOT to be a hero.

    Makoto, please give Trashmoki a very rude awakening. Preferably a ride on one of your arrows, followed by about 50 sure-hit arrow strikes.

The demon king has high standards in that world, trashmoki hasn’t, he’s a parody of the tipical hero of template isekai-cheat-harem ln/wn, so in that world he isn’t suited for nothing more than a eyesore for makoto, he’s going to be rekt and before he tries to redeem himself, mio or tomoe will banish him in secret.

      1. You know just to not let anyone forget. Also to put a little perspective on the character. There are reasons he acts the way he acts. One he’s letting power get into his head. This might be a common trait to most people. Some might not want to admit it but it shows in these comments that if some people in these comments have power beyond normal they would, themselves, change into a bit of a douche.

        Second before he came to this world he was bullied. It sounded like he was bullied quite bad. After experiencing that and without resolving that issue first he’s going to, most likely, act like the way he acts. He’s given a position where he went from being hopelessly powerless to someone who have power. Adding to all of it he’s young. He’s going to think he’s all powerful until he learns that he’s just been a douche the entire time.

        It’s going to depend on the author whether he learns to show respect and smart up or continue being the idiot who thinks he’s all powerful.

        It’s funny after his defeat from Sofia he haven’t learn anything. What’s worse is that he stupidly being led to corruption by the princess. For someone who plays a lot of games he don’t have a lot of sense.

        1. I think there was a discussion about this from a while back.
          A summary of the points I want to pull from that is that firstly Tomoki seemed to be kind of corrupt(or generously, opportunistic and self-entitled) from the start, even when he first meets the goddess.

          The other main point is that it’s uncertain how bad the bullying actually was. In my personal opinion, Tomoki was always self-centered and wimped out at the smaller signs of bullying without it escalating.

        From my memory. I think he was actually bullied till he decided to stay home and play games. But my point being is that the state he was in before he was summon he already had problems. He might not have been as bad as he is now but princess Lily and the goddess really helped him go down that path. I’m also pointing out it’s actually a common trait. Self-entitlement that is.

        It’s especially not a rarity in teenagers as well. He definitely needs to be taught a lesson but if not taught correctly he’s not going to learn. It seems he will be the type to become more stupid if he’s cornered.

    2. It’s the polite thing to do. More so when they are strangers. By not doing so Trashmoki shows poor etiquette. As he had done so when he called Hibiki without honorifics, and Hibiki is a fellow [Hero]. It shows his arrogance.

      1. It’s not the same. But I’m not up to explaining etiquette, ethics, laws and morality. I hope someone can explain it better than I can.
        Besides, the people Makoto killed(on purpose) either had harmed him and/or his people, or are trying to.
        Also in some places I’ve been, being as impolite as Trashmoki can get you killed, no matter what the official law says.

        1. You don’t kill someone cause they harmed you, you go to the police. The only reason it’s ok for Makato is because he isn’t in Japan. Tomoki wouldn’t be speaking the way he is if he was in Japan Makato just seems hypocritical because someone else don’t keep the same values he did once he transferred worlds. I can understand all the Tomoki hate, but him not speaking to Makato ‘proper’ just cause he’s older isn’t one or them. He doesn’t owe him that, they are not in Japan. Makato has no problem name calling and disrespecting a goddess after all; just cause she was mean to him.

            If you disregard politeness towards your elders when they have done nothing to make you disrespect them, then you are not worthy of respect. Fear maybe, if you are powerful, but not respect.
            Maybe it is because of my upbringing, but to me, respect to your elders is automatic, even if they are socially below you. Unless they had done something that made them unworthy of that respect.

          3. Of course you should be polite and act civil to strangers you just met. Though politeness and respect are not always the same.

As you said the Goddes was disrespectfull to him first, With Tomoki Raidou and Hibiki first showed a ethical and respectfull behaviour and in return he acted with a complete lack of respect to both of them. Is like when greeting someone they extend a hand to shake it and you just ignore it, thats been rude. The older younguer thing is just the mechanism used to show how arrogant Tomoki is growing.

    3. Maybe it’s because I’ve been overseas before as he son of a diplomat, but my view is, when you are overseas you represent your country. The good and the bad you do will reflect on it.
      There’s a reason that in some countries Americans are viewed as crude, loud and arrogant by the locals even though the diplomats are nothing like that. Some of the tourists do. They may be few compared to the overall American tourists numbers, but negative views usually stuck more than positive ones. Maybe it’s the “outsiders are barbarians” mentality many of us still carries.

      3. What would Tomoki do in order to get TOMOE? well…. it’s simple you know? he became the Trashiest person in the series. He will use the dragon tamer girl as a sacrifice then transplant her ability into her in human experiments then together with his charm and TAME ability not even Tomoe could resist his charm

The best thing is always to cut a snake’s head , in order to truly rekt Tomoki you have to kill Princess Lily since no matter how you beat him badly Princess Lily using her brainwashing words would encourage Tomoki to stand up and pursue more power even if in exchange that would be his own Humanity

  104. The best way is to have his spell on the other girls and people broken and for them to realized that they were manipulated by him some might leave him and some might do some GBH to him for manipulating them.

    1. Not going to happen. The demon eyes ability was broken once before when the demons fought him at Stella Fort. It said that those girls have been under its effects for so long, the effects have become permanent.

      1. Yup, basically they can no longer differentiate between their own feeling with the charmed state, not to mention they didn’t know he had a demon eye of charm after all.

      2. Let tell you this there are no permanent againts something which was force to be input what only needs. To do is remove it like a data or bug from a single click from the keyboard or finger tips. Cause Makato ability is like that he can remove it unless after removing the charm one shall need to put a resistance as soon as possible.

        1. Putting it like that, it might be possible. But the mind is a fragile thing, even more so after being tampered with like this. The reason he was so easily able to do it with Sofia was because the seed had only just been planted. These girls have spent over a year like this. Even if Makoto could do it, it would most likely be difficult, and they’d need to be unconscious, or else they might struggle and cause more damage to themselves.

      3. Poke his demon eye out that probably would remove the charm and make sure he doesn’t charm other people then have shiki whip up another one for him. Sometimes the simplest solutions are the best. The girls will eventually realise or mio and tomoe can go change their memories (remember when they wrecked the town)

    1. Makoto has been working on his subtly, I mean with Root and Tomoe around he has to improve on his mental abilities or else he will be their play things. Especially Root, Root is the most dangerous.

      Makoto will be subtle, as a brick, but he won’t cause needless property damage. Now mental scars are another thing.
      No charm will work on him and 99.9% of all weapons will bounce off his magic armor.
      Remember he had a good match with a War Goddess, and he winded her (OK it was a little more than that but that is what it looked like). A feeble mortal is no match for Makato and I think he knows it.

      1. Even Makoto will get angry if someone try to kill him or take him like hostage even if they cant specially if that person do so for get 1 of his companions after looking down on him. Trashmoki just is to stupid he thinks that even if Makoto is strong he can win since Makoto is alone and he make his own team stay in the room.

DIdn’t the bug agreed to not bother him anymore after that? he already has the backing of the other gods so he doesn’t necessarily need to worry about it as long as he doesn’t kill the heroes.

Although a nanny with the loophole that he totally can imprison his charges until the end of days, in the name of keeping them safe in their jail cells.

      1. There is an addendum to that agreement. The bugdess will not get involved unless he goes totally against the hyuumans.

        That being said, he should totally thrash trashmoki… trying to make a move on our tomoe is the greatest of sins.
