I liked Re:zero too, but there were sooo many things that annoyed me with that series… the MC shoulda just lied and said he was a seer with an uncontolable power to see the future. Also when death means you get to go back in time and try again, the VERY first thing you should look for/buy is the deadliest most fast acting and painless(hopefully) poison you can find. just keep that on you and no additional death traumas…
I think I like Alderamin on the Sky more this season.

yeah, so far this has been the least interesting season. But nothing can really compare to that first time Llya became archer! that’s like one of my top 5 battle scenes 🙂
No one would believe it, because even if such could exist it requires a huge amount of magic power to do so and sadly Subaru doesn’t have a requirement to cast such a complex spell and everyone would only dismiss it as a joke. It’s like you are telling to your friends in real life and they would laugh at you thinking you are crazy
spell? Seers don’t cast spells, they just have premonitions (randomly usually) and cant control it. of course no one would believe you right away, but using his previous life information, eventually they would believe you.
depending on the setting of the world seers/fortune-teller/Oracle/Prophet casts a spell which communicates to the god or harmonizing to the world to sense or predict any misfortune that may fall or to ask for divine providence
well of course it depends on the setting, depending on the setting Elephants could walk on 2 legs, have genius IQs and use dinosaurs as mounts! Point is you are stating that there is a huge mana requirement to be able to see the future like its some kind of stated fact. I’m assuming based on general usage that seeing the future is more of a personal talent that cannot be learned and is in general something you are born with. Gifts like that don’t normally have a high requirement for usage if one at all. Even if there is normally a high mana requirement for such an ability, its not like there is anyone there that can know EVERYTHING, he just needs to claim that its a unique talent to him. all he has to do is die, then claim that he gets visions of the future, use his past life knowledge to “predict” what is going to happen, and when it does happen it gives his claim legitimacy that they cant refute.
And most stories that involve seers/fortune-tellers/Oracles/Prophets don’t cast spells. Some involve rituals (like dancing or smoking) but in general they dont cast spells. (I actually cant think of any stories where “casting” is involved for seeing the future) Though I can give you an extra long list of stories, manga, movies and myths where they dont use spells.

Like, was Lancer syphoning power from Sofia or giving her power? Was he her lover? will she go Super Saurian 2 and become even more draconian?
It seems that Lancer truly was unlucky to have to face Shiki like this. I’m not sure how I feel about the match being so close. I guess Shiki is currently above a superior dragon and barely above an empowered superior dragon. I guess I can be glad it wasn’t a simple curbstomp.
Well, it’s also a pity we don’t get to see Lancer in fear or even Shiki doing some inhumane modifications to his corpse though. And now Hibiki has suspicions, though we don’t know where she’ll go with it.
Shiki is still the weakest of Makoto’s immediate retainers, he was even with Lancer, and only won through superior information and tricks. As for Hibiki’s suspicions, she will probably go to Mio, either in Tsige, or to Rotsgarde.
Also, I am a little disappointed, One thing I was really hoping for was Lancer vs Tomoe. Now that can never happen :sad face:
Seeing how close it was for Shiki, how much easier would it be for Tomoe?
A battle between Tomoe and an opponent of Lancer’s level would have looked like a Dragonball episode (but with swords), a long back and forth that results in the destruction of the whole city, and a tattered Tomoe emerging from the wreckage. We would find out later, upon questioning from Makoto, that that wasn’t even her final form, and that she was letting Lancer get his attacks in, to build up suspense, before one shotting him with an Iai slash.
that’s not the point, its the banter! the Lancer’s crushing loss of self when he realizes that a dragon he had been on par with before had seriously overtaken him! and now no Dragon vs Dragon fight!!!

Tomoe is famous in Tsige, Mio would also be badmouthing her during cooking classes, and then there was that adventurer that died there, who might have been a survivor of that outpost Tomoe and Mio erased from the maps….
I somewhat wished there was a heavier emphasis on tactics though. Because the writing seems to treat it as mostly because of luck.
If Shiki had perfect counters due to his superior intelligence on Lancer, that’d be cool. If he took advantage of Lancer losing his composure, that’d work too.

So, at some point Makoto was being lectured by Hibiki’s Sensei.
While he might not have the aptitude to learn the sword skills, it’s engraved into his memory. And Tomoe has the ability to see Memories, so she might have stumbled upon those particular memories while Shiki was there, and Shiki studied those memories as well.
And she get’s to see a Lich (narrowly) curb-stomp a “Superior” Dragon using the same techniques her Sensei taught her.
somehow i think its more realistic that Shiki was a master of sword and magic before go main in dark magic and alchemy and became a leech

Nice to see having Makotos Rings doesn’t make one completely broken. I like the fact that Shiki is on the same level as a Buffed Superior Dragon, now and is Sofia above slightly/greatly above that. Because as she is now I cannot see her being on the same level or weaker than the Maou.

Sword emperor spell allows he, who is a magician, to expertly use his greatsword like a boss.
His trick was basically just a teleport to the rear while leaving his skeleton form behind as if it were just a costume. Think the ninja log trick, only with a bag of bones instead of a tree trunk.
You can also think of it as him simply jumping out of his armor. After all, his true form since his binding to Makoto is Hyuman. So he just removed whatever he was doing to make the lich form, teleport behind him, whack.

Yes, exactly this. Everyone misunderstood that Shiki can return to having the body of a Lich. But he can’t. That’s just a cosmetic cover to his fleshy, real, body. So, Larva-Form probably wears a black cloak not for fashion, but to cover his core body, and make people think he’s still pure-undead, while riding around inside like a mecha pilot. …Probably.
It’s like Iron Man shedding his suit. Except in this analogy, he’s wearing a slightly less powerful suit underneath as Shiki is still incredibly dangerous without his bone form.
Shiki is the type that loves being needlessly secret, I suppose. That may be why he didn’t tell anyone the truth about his “Battle Form.”

Given the Shiki only won because he Had all the information bonuses stacked in his favor and even then he had to rush the conclusion with wit and guile, then against Tomoe he would almost certainly lose.
Lancer knew nothing of Shiki’s abilities or powers and could be fooled, but Tomoe wouldn’t be that I’ll-prepared. As is, if the Lancer fight had drawn out, then Shiki may have actually lost if he hadn’t pulled off that substitution technique.
Hmm… I wonder if anything will happen to Sophia’s sword now that Lancer is dead.

I agree… though that is what bugs me about her character. In a word… INCONSISTENCY…
She’s supposed to be the prototypical multi-talented, charismatic, virtuous, perfect, super-student council president oujo-sama from Makoto’s home town/high school. But even though she occasionally displays a mind that can see through some things, she cooperates almost mindlessly with the idiotic agenda of hyumans and the Bug.
The excuse for her behavior from the author is probably something like she wants to subvert the existing power structure from the inside (to correct the rotten existing system by ascending through the chain of command as it were)… but the thing is she’s been specifically summoned and has been working as a hero for more than a year or almost 2 now. She already has the ability to realize changes to the Goddess’ corrupted world, but largely looks the other way. She may not have Makoto’s power, but unlike him she actually SIGNED UP for the position she’s in; and she hasn’t been let off the hook to live whatever way she wants like our MC has by Tsukiyomi.
To put it kindly she acts like a politcian rather than any kind of hero. To put it in blunter terms, she’s an empty shell that doesn’t know wtf she wants or wtf she’s even doing, but continues to act aimlessly based on the pre-existing values & common sense of hyuman society. She doesn’t even question the validity of this war or think of ways to coexist with anyone other hyumans. She’s just been sucked in as another of the Goddess’ soulless dolls.
Now, she’s still not as bad or as damaging as Trashmoki yet, but he’s just a cartoonishly, narcissistic evil. The most pitiful thing about his character is that he STILL treats this other world as some kind of a game rather than real life and truly seems to be unaware that what he’s doing is repulsively malignant to everyone. But personally, I find Hibiki’s character much more aggravating because she SHOULD be intelligent/capable enough to do sooooo much more than the minimal amount that she tries to… and yet she does next to nothing.
EDIT: I meant to say ‘other THAN hyumans’ in this sentence…
She doesn’t even question the validity of this war or think of ways to coexist with anyone other *than* hyumans.

Wait, what’s the difference between Shiki verbally breaking down Lancer and Makoto talking down the generals and Sofia a few chapters ago?
This was a dangerously close fight for Shiki and it’s completely unpractical to say anything frivolous here. Makoto, on the other hand, actually wanted to avoid killing Io, had something of a grudge against Sofia/Rona, a big payoff after ages of being looked down on, and he had plenty of leeway in terms of their power gap to stop and try to talk them down with no risk to himself.
Why is this fight the one you want the MC side to talk about stuff in?
seems that Shiki was struggling due to the power and level of the hyumans\heroes becoming ‘swords’… or is it? thats one nice cheat though

“Use it sparingly because it does actually stop that forward motion. And use only a little at a time. Readers come to story for the events involving the characters, not a recitation of facts that sounds like a bad Wikipedia article.”
Most action scene start and end with dialogue for exactly this reason, it’s the calm before the storm, the deep breath before jumping out of the plane. It’s also why excessive and plain dialogue is to be avoided in action scenes.

Well, with the Nuke magic hes probably stronger now. I made that list before that chapter. but I always felt she took the job more seriously and trained harder. He relied on his immortality and eyes. An Asora’s forces were trained by Tomoe! Though… with how strong the Goro-wannabe was portrayed… yeah they might be stronger. The way they were portrayed when they battled the heroes the first time, I felt like they were just a bit stronger than the average demon. Seems not to be the case now. Thou I’m sure if Tomoe or Mio fights a general they will give us a chapter long speech comparing the generals power to their personal trained minions power…
Tomoki initially had higher levels than Hibiki, but now it’s likely Hibiki is more powerful than Tomoki after her powerup. But then again, it’s insinuated that Tomoki also had a powerup from the same entity, so who knows?
I’m pretty sure the implication was that Tomoki got “Nuke” from that entity.
If so, then Tomoki has a very destructive trump card, but Hibiki is the one that got greater growth.
We don’t really know that yet. They just got their toys; after they play with them for a bit, we’ll have a better idea.

Residents of Asora have Plot Armour, enemy mooks have no chance, even elite officers. Sure, a few token nobodies might die, but the outcome is hardly in doubt. If the folks of Asora actually suffered a crushing defeat that forced them to re-evaluate their tactics and objectives, I’d be pleasantly surprised.
Tomoe and Mio are stronger than the Demon Lord. It’s just that they don’t give a shit about the world. (Tomoe sleeping; Mio having a food fest)
I don’t know… THis story is lacking in potential true rivals for Matoko, I think the demon lord needs to have some decent power, or that means there are no other potential threats left. (or the demon lord is actual a chick and gets roped into our MC’s harem)
Well there’s still Root who is scheming behind the shadows, the Bug Goddess, Tsukuyomi-sama, Other Goddesses maybe, Asspull power-ups from the Heroes.

Why is Shiki lower than Lancer? By specs and ability, Shiki is higher. Shiki on the other is having trouble was because Lancer is using his ability to turn other people in the battle field into swords and also Shiki is worried that Hibiki and Chiya might turn into swords. But in a pure 1v1 fight with no people around, Shiki would definately overwhelm Lancer.
As for the Maou, I bet its a loli or a shota. Why else do you think Io and Rona would go through such lengths?
Well if you get rid of the weapons made from all the bodies, you would have to get rid of Shiki’s Prep time and knowledge he got from Root. extra swords(bodies) = Preptime and Root info, in my opinion… Also not including the Rings that Shiki are using are made from Waka/Raidou’s filled Mana rings… Shiki is using tons of outside resources to fight evenly with Lancer while faking composure. Then using a 1 time use Trump card (teleporting) and a NOW DEAD adventurer that distracted Lancer and sealed the deal for Shiki…… So Shiki is like Batman, with prep he can defeat people more powerful than him. 1v1 no prep or specialized equipment and Shiki would lose
yeah, that list is in terms of raw power. Shiki is using tools and pre-thought-out counter measures. It even says how Shiki was worried about lancer figuring out he is stronger and pressing the attack. Shiki only won because of tactics. Lancer (was) the stronger fighter, Shiki is the smarter fighter.
Shiki is a main character, Lancer is a scumbag. Plot Armor vs. Death Flag. Also, the entire Academy arc was to demonstrate that power alone isn’t sufficient to win. This fight is the same thing, only on a higher power level.

Haven’t read ahead but after reading about Sofia’s new shadow powet I was like. Oh so now taxi lancer is pretty useless since his main point has been negated (kinda) I knew he would die soon.
So my guess is now Sofia is gonna be all cry cry cry how did I become so weak, I was even charmed, You have to take responsibility. With Makoto being mostly weak vs bossy people he’ll go “sure why not”. I do however wish he would go all YOU DIE! YOU GO TO HELL AND YOU DIE!!!

You guys forgot why Shiki called Larva in the first place, he can possess another person body or things without the person possessed or other peoples know he is there. He discard the skeleton body in the last moment as decoy, he is hiding inside that skeleton using a core and then control the body like a mecha armor. And Shiki also have rings full of Makoto’s mana as his battery for spells.
or for simple answer, imagine the Henge no jutsu (body substitution skill) from Naruto thats what happen at the final fight between Shiki and Lancer
That is not a simple answer, that just creates confusion. Because that jutsu didn’t happen!
It was stated in earlier chapters that that skeleton body was just a cover, an armor, sort of. Shiki was inside it and teleported out of it with the sword and stabbed Lancer in the back.
It’s not even the right jutsu. Henge no jutsu is transformation jutsu, not substitution jutsu. I believe it’s Kawarimi no jutsu.
