Chapter 107: Before summer vacation

Demon general Rona. Secret information and magic expert.

There was no error in that reputation.

Lime, Akua, Eris, Shiki, and Rona. These five people swiftly investigated the Academy’s inside and outside. There’s no knowing how much of her real skills in information gathering she showed, but it seems that she still showed pretty high skills, mostly in the bad side.

Except for Shiki, everyone else didn’t hold any animosity towards their first meeting with Rona, but at their last reports, the three of them were all hostile, no, it was more of disgust. I felt like I wanted to know, and at the same time didn’t.

Rona likes nabe as well, so it would be better if Shiki and her were to become nabe friends or something. The only one who treats her as a disease is Shiki.

“Fast doesn’t mean better”

“I learned that I prefer a useless one over scum”

“This discomfort… I will cleanse it with a banana”

“It was as usual. She was efficient, but truly coercive”

There wasn’t a single good evaluation. If one banana is enough to forgive all the intense emotions they have, I will happily give it to them.

Tricking, seducing, and also killing. It seems like it was literally a whatever-goes overbearing investigation. It was as if she didn’t care if it would be discovered.

Since the time Lime was in Tsige, he has been fitting into the town and obtaining information, listening to the talks of the information sellers who he is friends with. That’s most likely why he didn’t like the way Rona acts.

Akua and Eris who were taught the ways of information gathering by Lime, were also unable to sympathize with Rona and seemed like they were now respecting their current way of doing things.

It looks like Shiki used a reasonable amount of hypnosis, but he did use it in a considerate manner. Rona ignored after-effects and stealth, so it looks like it was no good with her. For her, after-effects on hyumans are not of her business after all. A complicated topic there. Her method is one that prioritizes efficiency, so it is correct in a sense.

That they were able to narrow the related party in just a few days certainly proves that she is efficient and capable. I can’t ignore that in my evaluation. We can’t have Eva-san living in the company for so long, so resolving this fast is honestly a big help. I also placed some caution in her little sister and had Shiki stick with her, but this also can’t stay like that forever.

However, from the related parties that were narrowed, one was arbitrarily killed. Just as the word says, so arbitrary and conspicuous. Thanks to that, the other one is also beginning to act weird. We haven’t confirmed any external contact yet, but we definitely must move fast.

To think that instead of a business rival, it would be a coworker sensei that I would be introducing my company’s behind the scenes attraction, the underground torture room. Really, out of my expectations.

Moreover, it is someone that I know and have related to. The one who has built up high trust in the staff room, Brait-sensei.

In the end, he went further than the limit time and continued to introduce students to my class. That’s why, even I who thought of him as dubious, began to think that he might actually be a good person. And yet, hearing this kind of report, I am scared of turning into a distrustful person. No, more like hyuman distrust.

A full-time teacher in an elite academy with lots of students. He doesn’t give the impression of being involved in an organization though.

In 2 weeks, the academy will enter summer vacation.

‘Isn’t this an academy that trains elites?’ is what I wanted to retort, but having heard of the existence of several otherworldlers in the past from Root, I am not really that surprised about the existence of a long time holiday.

Just that, there is knowledge that came from the otherworldlers in this world and yet there’s no guns. That must mean magic really does surpass gunfire. Well, it isn’t like I know everything about the otherworldlers that came to this world, so this is only mere speculation. It is true that I still don’t know the intentions of the empire.

Besides, even when there were several predecessors, it is surprising that there is no clear information of their existence. We three were the first ones that the Goddess summoned, so the others were just results of accidents and was not made public in this world. Instead of revealing that they are otherworldlers, they all decided that it would be better to just blend into this world and live like that, maybe? I think there is no few amount of people that faced the same kind of hardships I have because of their outward appearance. Also, it seems that the earthlings have a physical strength superior to those of hyumans, so maybe there were also people that were persecuted because of that. The several people that Root didn’t divulge their details were probably in the same situation as me.

People that became heroes, ones that became knights under a king, became absorbed in magic and tried to peek into its possibilities, ones that spread their names as adventurers, ones that were called crazy warriors and perished, and even people that passed their life researching baths (probably Japanese).

Everyone lived their life in their own way. But it seems that not a single one of them was able to return.

The talk of the world and so on of Root was mostly undecipherable for me. And even when I asked Tomoe, she didn’t understand it either. However, I did understand that the difficulty of the trip is high and that I will need to resolve myself before trying. I also have to keep in mind Asora, as well as Tomoe, Mio and Shiki, before testing it out.

No matter how capable my subordinates are, doesn’t mean that the master can do whatever he wants. Just like when one person in a family does whatever he wants, and somewhere along the way, discontent gathers and the family begins to warp. That’s why I have to compensate little by little for the parts of myself that are still lacking.

I have the objective of landing a hit on the Goddess, but in the meantime I have other things like the expansion of the Kuzunoha store, increasing the residents of Asora, and in the future, investigate the movements of the Empire. Now that I know of it, I want to stop their development of gunfire.

The first and foremost task is the forced summoning of the Goddess. This one comes first. It seems that Shiki is also pitching in to help on this subject, so I think this will be solved in time. Doesn’t seem like I will need to directly take part in it.

In the future, what’s most important is to get surplus. I just can’t help but feel like I am falling behind the others after all.

To be surrounded by outstanding people is a good thing. The current me feels like Liu Bei from the Three Kingdoms, not in a positive way. Liu Bei possesses power like that of a rook, however, he doesn’t have a sharp brain like Zhuge Liang. But it isn’t like Liu Bei used all the ability of his subordinates for himself. I don’t have as much virtue as him, but it is fine to just do my best in my own way to get stronger.

The first thing I have to learn is already decided. I am in a standpoint where I administrate Asora and the company. That’s why I have to learn the decision making and cautiousness in order to protect them. Fortunately, I don’t need to be adventurous, I just have to act steadily and the Kuzunoha Company will definitely grow. The intuition that a merchant should normally have when one obtains a store, I still haven’t gotten it yet. Because I have practically never had any problem related with the company after all. I shouldn’t be thinking about gaining more than what I have, but about how to crush the problems before it causes damages.

For example; this time’s case, if it were Tomoe, she would probably have Brait-sensei swim around for a while and bait a bigger fish. But we will be capturing him as soon as summer vacation begins, and have him spill out what he knows. Eva-san and Ruria’s safety are at stake here after all.

Judgment and cautiousness, in those points, at the negotiation I had with Rona I think I got a passing mark.

In the current case, after the report, Rona left the academy as if natural because she seems to have finished her business. And so the person called Karen Frost disappeared from the academy. My class will now have seven people, but well, that part is not important. She told me to handle the paperwork in the summer vacation and make it as if she dropped out. Rona intended to just write it as if she died, but thinking about the remaining students, I asked her to erase the part of her death. Rona didn’t seem to really care about it, and told me that she would follow what I write in the academy’s documents.

“There’s really no problem if it’s just that. In the Fusk kingdom I will have it treated as death though. If I don’t do that, there would be people that would grow suspicious after all. But since we have the chance, can you please give me a bit of your time?” (Rona)

With a way of speaking as if saying she doesn’t want any reward, she firmly places out an exchange condition. There are no demerits in just hearing her out, and things like seduction and half-assed drugs don’t work on me, so I nod at her proposal.

“In these few days I have been working together with your intelligence members, but you see, well, they are quite the pure people. They are capable, but they are not utilizing their skills to their best. I do think it is normally a necessary emotion and way of thinking, but in the intelligence world where your objective is to gather information in the deepest of waters, ethics and morals are just in the way. If you think about what’s best for your company, you should put underhanded methods as an option as well” (Rona)

“Thanks for the advice” (Makoto)

“Also, it seems it is true that you don’t make distinctions with demi-humans. Your clerks, intelligence members; there really was no person who was concerned about races. From the ones I have seen, you are the strongest of hyumans so far. If you so wish, I can even make it so you can directly meet with the demon lord-sama” (Rona)

“The demon lord-sama that makes the hearts of people tremble? I am happy to hear that offer. In a future, I definitely would want to” (Makoto)

“However, those two brown skinned demi-humans and your follower Shiki, they are existences that will bring you harm. This is a pure warning from me since I have taken a liking to you. Cut your ties as soon as you can” (Rona)

“Akua and Eris, and also Shiki? The three of them are being a big help to me though?” (Makoto)

What pure warning is she talking about? Does Rona want me to doubt my own friends?

“You may not know, but those two are Forest Onis, atrocious demi-humans. Because of their combat power, there were people that suggested inviting them to the demon army, but they are a race that hates working under someone. They splendidly cut us off. They probably slipped into Tsige and made contact with Kuzunoha Company, but they will someday definitely betray you. Also, Shiki. Just by being a male, Shiki must be a follower that you can trust, but he is being possessed. Seeing him together with the Forest Onis, I finally noticed it” (Rona)

“Forest Onis. And Shiki is being possessed?” (Makoto)

Ah, I see. It seems that she has noticed Shiki’s true identity and is having a weird misunderstanding.

“I don’t know his name, but he is a Lich that doesn’t follow hyumans nor demons. A Lich normally can’t possess someone, but he can do it. He is someone that can kidnap someone at whim and practice inhyuman experiments on them or impersonate them. The demons call him Larva. No matter if it’s the information network of Kuzunoha Company, I thought that it was just too strange to know so much information about me, but if it’s a person that has been possessed by Larva, the story changes. I have met him several times in the past, and there have been times where we have been enemies or allies. What I can say for certain is that he is someone that you can never believe in.  Seeing that you are so accepting of the demi-humans is something extremely fantastic in the eyes of us demons. That’s why, Raidou, be careful of them. If there’s a time when you need the help of us demons, contact us. If you use the aria that is written in this paper, you will be able to contact me directly. I will assist you” (Rona)

Saying that, Rona gives me a single paper. It is conscientiously decoded in a language easy for hyumans to read, and there was a peculiar thought transmission aria composed in it.

The moment I saw it, I was about to let out a voice of surprise, but I was somehow able to hold it in and receive it silently. When Rona saw me putting the paper in my pocket, she smiled satisfied and left the room. I probably won’t meet her at Academy Town anymore.

This thought transmission aria… might be the one Tomoe was searching for. If I have Tomoe, Mio and Shiki check it out, they might discover something.

I think Rona tried to make me have doubts of the Forest Onis and Shiki, and put the demon race in a favorable position. If that’s really the case, she is a scary individual I can’t lower my guard from. This time, because she misunderstood Shiki’s situation, there was no fear of me being led by her words. But depending on the situation, Rona’s words sound incredibly convincing in my ears. About the Forest Onis and Shiki, she mixed some real traits and truths, and warped the conversation in a direction that she wished. I need to stay cautious when talking to her if there’s a chance in the future.

In any case, my situation differs from that of full-time teachers, so I am not tied to the academy. That’s why, while thinking about how to pass my summer vacation, I checked the inventory of the store.

◇◆◇◆◇◆◇◆

In the time soon to be summer vacation.

The academy was suddenly wrapped in a merry atmosphere. There will obviously be a lot of students that return home, but the students that have no classes now, will have free time.

Summer vacation. What should I do?

Those kind of conversations can be seen all over the place. It was the same for the modern Japan and in parallel world schools. Hanging out with friends, going on a trip, helping out the family, training their own skills. The way of passing the long time holidays for the students is important and it isn’t that different.

The nobles and merchants return to their households and participate in social gatherings. There are many occasions where they have already prepared a special event beforehand, and many return home. Of course, in this period, the noble’s dormitory and the advanced class dormitories get pretty busy.

However, there were two that were walking in the halls in a really calm manner. The other students and staff members are running around, and yet they were continuing their pace onto the library.

“At this time there are a lot of people returning so it is pretty hectic huh. This year we are fine though”

“Papa was crying right. ‘Why are you not returning immediately?!’ he said”

The ones exchanging words were the Rembrandt sisters that had just returned to school. They didn’t have any plans of returning to their homes in this summer vacation, and were able to take things calmly.

The girls were walking while doing a pretty normal conversation, but most of the students that were walking in the corridor like them, shrank their shoulders when they saw them. Their expressions were those of a scared small animal, as if waiting for an incredibly scary thing to pass through.

There’s a reason why the Rembrandt sisters are beautiful and were yet feared in this way.

Before returning from school, those sisters were the worst kind of students. In the required classes they attend when they wanted, and in the practical skills one, they crush anyone that they don’t like; on top of that, they flung their influence as an economic power. They possessed the same skills as scholarship students, so their bad nature stood out even more. If they have their eyes on you, you wouldn’t know what they would do. That’s how those two were. After all, there’s even rumors that said their father obtained the first-class noble’s dormitory admission by buying in gold a peerage from the Aion Kingdom, and in truth, they are in the noble’s dormitory. It can’t be helped that they think common sense won’t work.

After their return, it was as if completely different people were naming themselves in the same way. The girls showed sincere attitude at the classes, were welcomed by the teachers, and the students were bewildered. That is the current situation of the sisters. Well, there are many students that think they are people who have taken their shape, and many maintained their distance from them.

Those same girls were always thinking about how to repay their lifesaver and sensei Raidou, and actually, they have already repaid him in a time he didn’t know of.

It was something that happened a few days ago.

The student mob that came to confess to Raidou also shrunk back at the appearance of those two. But if Raidou didn’t dislike it and actually felt happy about being confessed by girls of age they would just be getting in the way, that’s why the sisters didn’t want to make a mistake and endured it. They have occasionally taken meals with Raidou and learned that he was troubled by their annoyance, and after knowing of his feelings about it, the two of them nodded and began moving.

Several of the students that confessed and got rejected, Sif and Yuno whispered this:

“If you are thinking of marrying him, it will be troublesome if you don’t get along with us as well. You have the resolve to do that right? Of course, we won’t forgive a single trace infidelity”

“If you want to marry Raidou-sama, you should be careful. If it’s a boring household, papa might crush it and make you servants. We should at least get our families know each other, right?”

The results were immense. The ones who said these words were not the graceful Sif or the cheerful Yuno, but the two who were clad by the same air as their reputation. That must have influenced the action of the students a lot.

That rumor didn’t spread to the public, but between the female students that were thinking about confessing to Raidou, it spread incredibly fast. Until now there had been no risks in confessing to Raidou, but now it had become dangerous in an instant.

The number of confessions to him decreased at a fast rate. Seeing the relieved face of Raidou, the sisters were simple mindedly happy about it. He himself thinks that this is because of people’s rumors, and hasn’t noticed that it is the work of the sisters.

And so now, Sif and Yuno were heading to the library exactly regarding Raidou.

Without getting lost in their promised destination, they continued on to the grand library and find a desk where a mass is gathered.

“So we were the last ones huh. Even though we are newcomers, sorry” (Sif)

“Next time we will come faster okay, senpais” (Yuno)

The two of them already knew that they would be gathered here and apologize. This is also something that one wouldn’t expect from their previous reputation, but for the members that have been together with the sisters in the same class, they have already gotten used to it and stood up from their seats to receive the two of them.

“Don’t worry, everyone just got here. Sorry for calling you out here”

The one who voiced out was Jin. The people here were seven in total. The students that are in Raidou’s class. Aside from Sif and Yuno, the others are scholarship students and this year they don’t have plans of going back home.

Today the seven of them were gathered like this, obviously because of Raidou’s class which they all share in common.

“I don’t mind. We are also worried after hearing of the next class after all” (Sif)

Yuno nods at Sif’s words. The lessons of Raidou were unexpectedly intense and if there’s a chance to prepare for them, it is not bad to take it, is how they think.

“In the next class, the chances are high that Sif and Yuno will be participating in the enjoyment lecture. The two of you are strong even when you have just recovered after all. You trained in Tsige to get back in form right? As expected”

While suggesting their seats, Amelia begins the talk. She proposed this gathering because of Raidou and Shiki’s hinting, and everyone agreed to it.

“Enjoyment lecture…”

Sif and Yuno make a wry smile. In those expressions, there was expectation and within it, undisguisable fear.

“A torture that goes by that name. Here, take this. This is the report we presented to Sensei. We didn’t even get half out of it. Because you know, that lizardman called blue lizard-kun wasn’t serious at all. It can be said that this was the obvious result”

“It must have been incredibly strong. To think that five together didn’t even measure up”

“Those lizards are all high level. In terms of physical strength we can’t even compare, and the magic arias are also short to a crazy extent. He avoids the arrows as if he could see the future”

The boy that uses a dagger to fight in close combat and inflict abnormal status spells, Daena, lifts both hands as he continues saying he has given up hope. In the gathered students here, he is the only married one.

“On top of that, he even uses his tail to fight in a characteristic way, and his weapon skills are top notch too. There’s practically no moment where our attacks landed properly. In present, we don’t have a choice but to do a combination attack with me, Jin and Daena, but…”

Calmly analyzing the situation is Misura who has a one handed sword just like Jin. He excels in support magic, and specializes in sword arts that uses self-defense as its core. Just like Jin, he is also a swordsman but his aimed style is quite different. If we place Jin’s sword as sharp and accurate, Misura’s one would be like a spiked shield.

“His elements are a combination of water and wind. I have never heard of such a lizardman though. And in fact, he has used both water and wind attack magic. There’s no signs of him using healing and support magic yet. There’s also the chance that it is because we haven’t cornered him up to that point”

The one who pointed his elements is the only person here who pursues magic, Izumo. He is a magician specialized in wind, but after taking Raidou’s class, he has been able to use several elements and has begun understanding the importance of it.

In essence, Raidou’s class’ objective is aimed for magicians, but the spells can be considered as a sub. This act is heavily different from the other magic teachers and the common sense that they have known of, but the number one reason is probably because even though Raidou himself is a magician, he has the body strength that surpasses by leaps and bounds that of a warrior. Izumo has taken several classes in other schools, but this is the first time he was told to form an aria while being attacked. Normally, one would put up a barrier and block the attacks while they complete the spell. Raidou also uses barriers. But he said that even though he is a magician, there are times when one uses shields and his body movements to nullify the attacks while forming his arias. He told Izumo to think of such a situation when training. The difficulty is high, but Raidou is actually able to do it. Moreover, he lowers the level to one that even Izumo can catch and shows them how to do it. Izumo had his pride hurt, and is currently desperately clinging onto the lectures.

Jin, Amelia, Daena, Misura, and Izumo.

The reason why they called the Rembrandt sisters was because they thought the sisters would also have to participate in the rematch against the blue lizard. For the sake of preparing a counter-measure, and also another objective.

“Water and wind. In that case, I can probably participate in the fight as firepower” (Sif)

“In a situation where there are three at the frontline, the bow might be best” (Yuno)

“Yeah, that’s what we first thought. But in that case, the rear guard would have to individually evade the attacks of the lizard-kun right? That’s why I thought that we should have Daena or Misura to the back and have them follow up on the magicians…”

The plan making of the seven continued earnestly. In the middle of their heated discussion, there were several teachers who stopped their feet and looked at that scene pleasantly. And while thinking ‘as expected of scholarship students, their motivation is on a different level’, they left the library.

That scenario played who knows how many times. Finally, the discussion of the seven turns silent.

“… Well, this much should be fine for now. Listen, at any rate, just don’t let the team be wiped out. Find out patterns where we can make direct hits with both weapons and magic. We will do it as if our life depends on it” (Jin)

“Understood”

Jin wraps it up and the six others agree. They must have made enough counter-measures for Raidou. Their faces were all satisfied.

“And so, it took time but, today we have another topic. Please listen well. It’s about the summer vacation…”

Close to evening, the meeting of the seven continued.

  1. I got a feeling a new chapter will come today…..

Thanks Rei, hope you do well in your exams too. Or maybe it’s already over?

      1. Right i wanna ask this since i just re-read everything.
Hyuman is degraded version of human
        Makoto parents are hyuman.
so Makoto should be genetically hyuman also
Doesn’t that mean Makoto can’t actually make children with Root/Tomoe?

      2. Maybe if he is “pure” hyuman he can’t give them children, but if we consider his environment when grow up then he have adapted enough to evolve from that just a hyuman…

      3. Hey lazy, i cant reply you directly but here what i know.
Yeah as far as it shows Makoto can have childrens alright, but then again if you get the last chapter, other humans alread had childrens with hyumans, and can have children with other species too, so if makoto get into it he can have a voley team, the thing is for wat i learned so far this novel dont give to much space to romance until much later, there is some, but not that much? something like that.
Now if you think it a litle more, maybe some races of the demi humans are actually fruit of humans and demons relations, thats why the godness droped Makoto on the edge of the world away from hyumans, the way she put it is like its not the first time it happens and the “dont marry” thing sugest some trouble background.

      4. The difference between a Hyuman and a Human might be a result of the environment. Hyumans end up degraded Humans because the world they live in is easier on them and they are all boosted some by the Goddess. Try thinking of it as the Hyumans are living on a low G world and are being supported by a low power exoskeleton, while Humans are on a higher G world without help. A Hyuman on the Human world would either adapt or die, Makota adapted although he almost died as a child.

The ability of Humans to have children with the dragons could be a result of their higher vitality that was nneded to survive in the harsher enviroment. Makoto, as a Hyuman that survived on the harsher world, probably has the vitality required to mate successfully with Tomoe and the others.

    1. shocked you dont want to kick it since its considered kin to a dragon. frio hates dragons dont you?

  2. Thanks for the chapter!

Rona’s thinking that Makoto is in the dark about his subordinates, and so mistakes trust for naivety. I wonder what she would do if she knew about Tomoe and Mio, and the actual relationship of Shiki and Makoto…probably report to the D.K.-sama that Makoto’s either a must-have subordinate or a must-kill target…

The seven students are growing up, it is interesting to watch.

    1. It’s advantageous for Makoto becausr he got a free pass for a meeting with the Maou anytime he wants. He didn’t even have such intentions.

    2. I think we could assume that Makoto isn’t a must kill target, Rona already admits that he is the strongest hyuman she met, and she knows that he is neutral. Their mindset would be on not provoking him and keeping him from giving support to the hyumans.

      1. I agree. If you can’t have it, then make sure no one can. Which in this case, to avoid giving a reason for Makoto to join sides and bring trouble to their camp.

    1. Really? I think what she pointed out to Raidou is helpful/useful though. I mean, not everyone you can befriend and get info especialy if you are in a race with time. The situation where Rona cooperated with Raidou’s lot may not be the right occassion but that doesn’t mean Rona doesn’t know her way around. Shiki already acknowledged her skills, which is also reflected in the report. It’s just like Rona said, Lime and Forest Oni’s way are pure. Which is ironic considering how Forest Oni’s are before being leashed by a certain Waka-sama. If you have a job needed to be done in a extremely limited time, Makoto would need to resort to such things, then again, he is surrounded by extremely capable people so… he just needs to be pampered.

      1. Rona has and continues to make the first and worst mistake of warfare; to assume that your master is the strongest and all others are less than him. She hasn’t even entertained the idea that perhaps Makoto is more than a talented beginner, and has tailored all contact after to that level. She assumed he had no idea what the forest oni were, even though he had told her he had spent that much time in the wastelands. Then by bending the impression that she was doing it for his own good, she cemented her position in his brain of a schemer.

Rona had better hope that if Mokoto does take the invitation to meet the demon king that he keeps his mouth shut. Her blunders have earned death sentences by others for less in other situations, even when they were in the master’s good graces.

      2. Again no reply button… why is that. I had to reply to my own post.

Anyway, i don’t understand… was that a response to me? I was pointing at Rona’s methods of gaining info though? the one she did with Shiki and crew?

Also to be fair, Rona “assumed” she had all info on Raidou. Her warning about Shiki and Oni’s are all true for the most part. Until they met Raidou, that is. If Rona managed to uncover Makoto’s contract with Shiki then hat means Root’s manipulation of their identities isn’t as good as he/she thinks it is. Also keep in mind, Rona knows Shiki the longest, before he got wooped by Makoto.

      3. I agree with you on this one. If it had been before Shiki and the Oni met Makoto, she would be right on the money. But, because of the contract, Shiki has become completely loyal, and the Oni were forced into submission, broken down, and “re educated” by Tomoe. Makoto’s common sense is so warped that he doesn’t stop to think if they were always as they are now.

      4. No that wasn’t meant for you specifically, more like part of this discussion flow, so I used your “reply”. Had to do it again just to give a reply that would be close enough to make sense.

      5. To give Rona some leeway, she is assuming that she is dealing with a Hyuman, although a very unusual one. He is stronger then any she has met but he also seems naive. Her judgement of him is probably based on her coutless interactions with Hyumans in her line of work as a spy and informantion gatherer and if you look at how the Hyumans have been portrayed in the series, they are self-centered and don’t think ahead all that much, they are ruthless and can treat others like animals as well as thinking that their race is best. They don’t seem to plan or think quickly, even though they can have scemes running which results in them being fairly simple to understand.

An average Hyuman would have not realized that Shiki and the Onis had worked their way into their operations. She might think that the Onis are taking instruction from Shiki and are working on some other plans out of site. Root did a full lock down on information about them so there is no way that she could learn that Makoto is Human or has even stronger followers and that Shiki is the runt of the group.

  3. Thanks 4 the chapter!

Raidou’s Seven making plans in the library. They wouldn’t be able to defeat the lizard, but I think by now they have surpassed the other students.

  4. Thank you for your hard work andthe new chapter rei!
and i hope you past your exams,
And forgive meif i’m wrong, butdo you enjoy your spring break? (i’m dutch so i don’t knowif you even have a littlevacation or whatit’s called right where you are. Here in the netherlands there’s currently ‘de mei vakantie’ going on at the schools, which means ‘the may vacation’ in dutch a.k.a. spring break in america)
greetings from a nutcase from the netherlands
    (~■_■)//

      1. Well, to much free time is quite boring.
so if you can enjoy the work at a job, you’ll be catching two birds with one stone
(Releave of boredom and some extra money)
i on the otherhand got one week off from work thanks to having a lot of my parttime coworkers having spring break…… and i haven’t got shit to do.
so i’m currently reading a lot of new web novels out of boredom (not that i mind though) (see wuxiaworld’s website, arifureta, death march, law of the devil, douluo dalu 1&2&3, sendei yuusha and your own website for example XD)
        do you have some recommandations?
(I don’t mind if they are japanese or chinese, my only point is that it must be being translated in english currently)
greetings from a novel binge reading nutcase from the netherlands

  5. Thanks for the chapter~

What a healing episode. Add to that, there’s no Cliff-kun unlike Lucifer.

  6. Thanks for the grub. Searching for new web novel, found this novel and it was awesome although the story sometimes feels confusing and plot arrangements is chaotic(not blaming the translator 😁).

Will enjoying this and Keep up with the good work😘😘😘

  7. That is some impressive manipulation there. Or you know, it would be if it had worked. Why would she think he doesn’t know who some of his closest subordinates are? She knows his information network rivals if not surpasses her own. She thought he missed this?

Anyways, rematch time! He should 100% summon one of the Arke’s just to mess with them.

    1. Yeah, why not summon the monster that can eat magic in a class that teaches how to fight with magic 😀 ?
The students will break if he does that :p

  8. See, this is the hypocrisy that I can’t stand. He didn’t give a crap about root saying that he purposely made the guild in order to “thin the herd” when it came to the hyuman population. but then in the very next chapter he goes on about wanting to prevent guns from being made.

He also comes to the nonsensical conclusion that an otherworldler that tried to develop baths has to be Japanese.

I understand that this all comes from the fact that the writer has a weird bias but c’mon. I understand that the Japanese tend to have a very warped view of the world.

I read this other series that credited the lighter (as in a flip lighter) as a Japanese invent. (even though it’s actually German).

    1. “He also comes to the nonsensical conclusion that an otherworldler that tried to develop baths has to be Japanese.”

      racist mf.

      1. The one who thought it was japanese=baths, though i was kidding. I still think it was Reigo-senpai who added that bit though. Lol

    2. It’s one thing to induce natural selection to cull the herd, it’s another thing entirely to introduce the weapon that caused the death rates in wars to increase exponentially.

      1. That question actually comes back to what an immortal values. Do you sacrifice the few to save the whole? Or do you try to save all at the risk of everything? The best example in nature I can think of is deer. They’re animals that a lot of people would like to protect. If someone decided to protect them by removing the local population of wolves, it would make their lives easier for the deer. But not long afterward, the deer’s population will explode, causing a large amount of destruction to the local ecology. We can already see what happens when a species doesn’t have a natural predator with us as an example. With the Goddess’s teachings, the hyumans can and will very easily destroy any other races in their world without it bothering their conscience. They’ve probably destroyed several already. And before you say what right Root has to make this kind of decision, he has about as much right as we do when deciding to protect or destroy another animal species. He is just acting in the way we do when it comes to lesser species.

And as far as guns are concerned, yes they are wonderful tools for saving lives. There is no doubt about that. I would not deny the right for someone to have one for self protection. But I also wouldn’t go out of my way to introduce them to a world where they don’t exist. I might also try to prevent them from being introduced in the first place. I can’t say for sure why I would, but that’s just how I feel.

      2. Guns are a wonderful tool for saving the lives of the side that owns them.

The side without? not so much.

    3. I don’t know. I intuitively think of guns as weapons that are used to take more lives than they save. Sure, they save lives when they serve as force available to a responsible authoritative force, but…well…this world has no such thing.

And to add on to a coatl’s point, Root technically has more of a right than the Bug does considering s/he’s senior to her in this world. Bug’s the one that came and mucked up the natural order of things.

  9. Wait so the demons called Shiki a Larva………./ hmm, maybe fairies can evolve and maybe there is a Boundary Plane……
    Hmm…… Hmmmmmm….. Mmm….. Ohh

    1. Shiki wasn’t a fairy, he was a Lich.
And I think he was called a Larva because a lot of Larvae are Parasites.
He was after all a parasite possessing others’ body.

  10. All he have to do ask the 3 in front of Rona “will you betray me?” . Their pale faces and display of ptsd symptoms are the answer that is needed.

    1. Now for my actual comment. I’m over the pain of not reserving for Firo in time. Anywho, this is yet another chapter well translated by Reigo-senpai. When I read the raws through Google translate, I could barely see why Rona was giving the warnings, but I was able to guess it. My guesses were correct with this proper translation. She didn’t know that “Larva” wasn’t exactly possessing Shiki. And she didn’t know any of the conditions. And ol’ Karen Frost’s dropping out, I wasn’t able to make that exactly clear.

As for the students’ tactics, those I were able to understand. As well as the part of the Rembrandt sisters keeping other girls away from the beloved sensei XD It’s like they’re somewhat yandere, but not at the same time. I guess they know better than to mess with Tomoe and Mio’s beloved Waka-sama, but not well enough at the same time?

Either way, I loved this chapter. Can’t wait to clearly read the next one.

  11. Thanks for the chapter Kau-kun. Poor Minato’s students. They thoroughly understand just how outclassed they are. Gotta five then credit for trying to overcome it though.

  12. it’s just a blue lizard kun
let’s save when they meet Arke (arachne) one :v
who enjoy being bullied and want more :v

    1. If Makoto brings an Arke out, I can’t say why they’ll freak out. It’ll either be because of the Arke, or the fact that Makoto is able to control one. Each is worthy of a total mental breakdown.

  13. Hehehehehe! Rona, Rona, so naive… or not! LOL Good thing she is misunderstanding everything so far, haha!

As for the students… I worry about them. If you can’t get Raidou, get the ppl around him, right? I wonder what summer vacation will be like. And there will definitely be a school festival?! XD

  14. Thank u always for ur great work…
    ^^…

“This discomfort… I will cleanse it with a banana”
“In those expressions, there was expectation and within it, undisguisable fear.”
    Ahahahahaha…
    XD…

They join together cz the torture class that has been disguised as normal lesson…
    XD…

  16. thank you!
so Rona didn’t know the fact that Shiki made a master-servant pact with Raidou. She tought Shiki just a follower and being possessed. Or it just a deceptive words?

  17. Thanks for da chapter~~~~
What I find most ‘enjoyable’ is how Rona mistook Shiki’s and the forest onis Identity I mean all of us here knows what sort of training (?) The forest onis gone throug and how Shiki become Shiki. But it would be interesting to see what happens if Makoto pretends to fire them especially Rona’s reaction. I will laugh very hard, but it is unlikely to happen. Sadly.

  18. Thinking about Makoto’s next class made me wonder if Tomoe and Mio can revert back to their original forms at will (with Makoto’s consent)? Just imagine the class when he says “Ok, you’re gonna fight another lizard but this one is a little larger than the last one.” or, “Ok, this time instead of a lizard you’re gonna try your luck with a spider. By the way, she might eat your weapons…..”

  19. is it my idea or we got a time jump pass chap they were talking with Root being Shiki MIA and now he’s back and they had some kind of information reunion were they learned that the teach is from a dark organization and all that happened out of the blue n-n BTW Rona didn’t know that Shiki is with master/servant pact and that he willfully and extremely happily follows Makoto and that they all ready new about his possessing abilities and that the forest oni got re-formalized xD

  20. Rona sure messed up that part there. Should have investigated a bit more about Raido and company.

So … how are the odds of Makoto being half-hyuman (as speculated early on … by Makoto himself if I remember things right)? Any guess … now that we not only know that things like polygamy and such were completely acceptable in that world but also that Makotos family had some considerably high position in their old world (thereby making polygamy and such even more the norm for them)?

    1. It’s not that easy without access to the Asora realm. Also, there’s common sense, so her conclusions are okay. 👌

      1. She ignored some of the most critical questions, though … like … why the heck are these guys with Makoto … and decided to fill them up with speculation … while also failing to properly background check what kind of person she’s dealing with (there’s another town to look into, after all).

Playing a game of “I know more than you do” despite being faced with several unknown factors and even going as far as to use the “earning trust by telling someone by selling out that someone’s subordinate as potential traitor” card without gathering sufficient information about both parties (Makoto and his “supposedly untrustworthy subordinates” as well as what the status of their current relationship is) not only makes her look suspicious (she only stated obscure facts about treacherous without backing them up with actual proof) but also incompetent, because, if too many unbexplained irregularities appear, it also insults the intellect of the person she’s trying to be trusted by, because she openly assumes that person didn’t to a sufficient background check himself. Moreover, there is always the risk of either angering that person (at least for now … if they really backstabbed Makoto, she would’ve banked a few points there while also averting his death) because she slandered his subordinates (because he’s “so a simple, trusting guy”) or the risk of that that there’s more going on than she’s aware of (i.e. … she made her move before figuring out what kind of relationship those guys have with each other … and what other information is there to get about Makoto and his company from the Town he came from).

      2. Considering she left just after that she was probably on a timetable and had to try and wrap up her work there. She tried to score some points with him before leaving, and in truth she did, Just not as many as she would have normally. Showing that she was interested in his wellbeing, even if its to further her own cause, does leave a generally positve impression.

She will feel a little abashed if she learned what their actual relationship is though.

      3. Actually, considering their character before being reformed by Tomoe, she was very correct, the forest oni were treacherous. Remember, they invited Makoto to a feast to kill him and Shiki was a Lich that possessed a forest oni before.

If I was in her shoes, I’d have given the same warning, both species have a very evil reputation.

  21. I am kind of glad the Roit chapter is over. Did anyone get what Root was talking about?

Halfway through my brain fried at the nonsense of economic and sociology root was spouting. It was just the translation, I think Root is as crazy as some old communist writers like Ayn Rand. So I am glad that speech is over.

  22. Oy, Is this all that this fox woman (Rona) can do…? Tch, that’s totally disappointing !
With all this, I almost forgot the students !
I’m looking forward to see how they’ll be beaten up ! AHAHAHAHAHAHAHAH !
    Thanks for the chapter !

    1. To be fair, Root’s information blockade is just that reliable. I won’t even be surprised if Root is stronger than the Maou, since, Root is undefeated like Tomoe.

It would be a huge blow to Root if Rona could infiltrate his info network just like that. Rona’s skill may be impressive but there will always be someone higher.

      1. Well, that’s right, but if you’re only at that level don’t act so high ! I dislike that kind of half-assed sneaky women !
“In the intelligence world where your objective is to gather information in the deepest of waters, ethics and morals are just in the way.” Isn’t it just a way of admitting that you’re not able enough to gather information without unnecessary harm ?
You should adapt to your adversary ! Going all out against mere hyumans, that’s just bullying the weaks !

About the Maou, I hope he’ll deserve that status ! And if not there is still the snake and the goddess !

Ah, also the higher seats exist only so you can take them ! AHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAH !

      2. That’s actually a good point. It’s like some anime characters beating people without killing them. Namely Train Heartnet. The only reason the people he shoots dies is because he wants them to.

  23. Root was saying that returning to makotos world is easy, but that he won’t be able to control what time he lands in (as in the year).
Root was also saying to tomoe that if makoto realises his abilities he will be able to create his own world as he has enough magic. This would allow him to also travel between worlds freely and live much longer. ( He is limited on the magic he can use because he thinks he is mostly ordinary. Subconciously, makoto still thinks of himself as human- he still has attachments to his own world)

    1. He said its fairly easy to open the gate, but hitting the right planet in the right time would be really troublesome.

  24. Makoto in this chapter sounds like an idiot. It seems everything Root said to him went out of his ear.

Root said that there was a time when science from Earth and magic from this world perfectly fused together but after 1000 years, a lot of science and technology was lost and the world went back to forgetting about science again, so Guns may have existed in those 1000 years or a human 1000 years ago may have attempted to introduce guns, but again, it became lost knowledge.

And Root said that only 3 humans were able to understand her super nerdy time travel dimension talk and that they may or may not have successfully traveled back to Earth by themselves because there is no way of confirming it, herself, since you can’t exactly send a letter or text message much less email from Earth to Root and say that you made it back home on Earth.

If anything, those 3 humans sounded like they have an amazing STEM background or were really dreaming about becoming scientists on Earth before accidentally being transported to this fantasy world where Root lives.

Root even said those 3 were pretty special since they managed to understand her super technical dialogue. Those 3 may have introduced the concept of Earth technology but like I said, the knowledge they introduced became lost after 1000 years.

Makoto must be pretty arrogant in assuming those otherworlders from 1000 years ago never did anything special when Makoto, himself, contributes less than Shiki or Tomoe and even the Orcs when it comes to science and technology.

Makoto isn’t busy in the farm fields, pulling out weeds or analyzing soil conditions. The orcs are doing that.

Makoto isn’t traveling everywhere and analyzing weather conditions. Tomoe is doing that.

If anything, Makoto must be the laziest otherworlder that appeared so far in this world and his subordinates have better achievements and better brains than Makoto.

And despite having god like powers, Makoto still lacks a lot of confidence. How many times has he stated in his head that Shiki or Tomoe can understand the topic better than him or I wish Shiki was here because I am unable to verbally exchange dialogue successfully with the other party.

I have to say this but Makoto is neither Boss material nor CEO material and yet we have readers in these threads, thinking Makoto would ever be a good God or deserves to be a God when he is this clueless and immature toward many things?

Do you think someone like Makoto and what he has shown so far, would be understand to tolerate the concept of eternity much less immortality?

Do people in these threads know what it means to outlast the lifespan of a star like our Sun?

Yeah, sorry, but in the end, I think Makoto is going to opt for mortality and die as a human than become a God. Root says the ideal lifespan of a human otherworlder is 200 years at best. Any more than that and it seems that the human starts degrading pretty bad going by Root’s negative comment.

    1. Have you forgotten Makoto didn’t understand shit? He claims to still comprehend a few bits but that is highly doubtful. And yet, Makoto is somehow still oh-so-interesting-and-wonderful to the eyes of Root and Tomoe.

Anyway, I am of the same opinion. Makoto must be the laziest. He prefers playing teacher while he pushes things of high importance to his subordinates. He says it’s top priority but doesn’t take part, instead just tells himself that he won’t be of help. How would he know that if he doesn’t try and see? Even if he doesn’t contribute, he could still learn as his crew uncover, investigate, things as it progress. Instead of seeing it for himself, he chose to read reports that will obviously not include everything, some stuffs omitted. And this is true in Mio’s case with Hibiki. I’m assuming he still haven’t asked for her report.

      Geez.

I didn’t think Makoto would be completely reliant on his subordinates like this. And even the Author is justifying Makoto’s decisions. Makoto saying he needs to improve in the future and yet does absolutely nothing aside from playing teacher. Since he only teach at the academy part-time, he could do other stuff in his free time instead of pretending to help in Kuzunoha, he doesn’t even man the store, he’s crew have tons of things they are doing and yet still happily take on his additional biddings. And all he can think is, he feels sorry. All thoughts, no action.

      1. Fairly sure he spends all of his free time in the library reading every book about magic he can get his hands on. The librarian girl even commented on the wide array of topics he has been reading. Every book he reads is then reproduced in Aosora by Tomoe, thereby increasing their knowledge pool. He is effectively stealing the library of one of the largest schools in the world.

Any time he is not reading he is spending practicing the magic in the books he has read. He has a massive magic pool but if he does not learn the spells to use it it is worthless. He is leaving the investigations to the people that know that world and can find the things they need to know. Even if he went along all he would be doing is watching them work as he has no knowledge of was is the normal standard to compare to and no experience or techniques to do the investigations.

He has several months of experience of being in that world, he cant compre to the ones with Eons of experience, either personal or racial, so he is having the ones that know what they are doing work on it while he tries to get a handle on his insane magic pool. The both of you are asking for the unreasonable.

      2. Tomoe barely has eons of experience. She was asleep for 500 years and was a dragon that rarely showed itself to the world yet she already outclasses Makoto. She is not older or close to being as old as Root either.

Sorry but Makoto has no excuse for not even working together with Tomoe.

Even if he doesn’t understand what she is doing, there is a concept among graduate students known as shadowing a professional.

Sorry but your post just sounds like an excuse to justify Makoto doing the bare minimum of effort in his tasks and your argument keeps diminishing with each new chapter that has Makoto self-criticizing himself yet again.

Sorry but if Makoto feels like he hasn’t improved at all, that means he is still half-assing everything.

      3. And what would he gain justifying Makoto? It’s not like Makoto pays him.

More likely he was just getting irritated at the complaining.

      4. Tomoe was able to sense when Aosora expanded as it happened and can use the mists to pull information out of a subjects memories, neither ability Makoto has and is unlikely to learn. How would shadowing a professional help you if they did the equivalent of pulling out their smartphone and knew where to go next by glancing at it? You cant see what they saw and if you ask its something you cant use.

You also seem to underestimate the ages of the elder dragons, they predate the appearance of Hyumans on that world. Sure Tomoe has been sleeping a lot recently but there was probably a time before she grew bored with the world whne she was active and learning, they also seem to just have some knowledge automatically. It was 1000 years ago that Root was given the idea to form the Adventurers Guild but the dragons have been around for much longer then that. Not sure where you got the idea that the elder dragons are not all of about the same age, Root has more experience because he/she has been making up busy work to keep them entertained while Tomoe seemed to think it was annoying to do that and just slept instead.

Makoto cant really follow Mio around to learn from her either, she was able to sense an approaching monster from a couple of mountain ranges away, how would you learn that? Most of her behavior is instinctual.

If Makoto spent all of his time following them he would have no time to be learning new spells or techniques for battles and would end up in the same situatuion as he was in last time he had to fight, with a magic pool the size of an ocean and a drinking glass to pull from it. Just because he is not expressly mentioning all of the new spells he has picked up does not mean that he has been wasting his time. The next time he is in an actual battle we will be able to see any advancements he has made.

      5. Oh and just because he wishs he could do more does not mean that he should be doing something different. He doesnt like to impose on his friends but he cant do everything himself, not unless he learns a cloning technique and picks up several extrasensory abilities.

      6. @IamMe
according to the next chapter, he and Shiki reads in the library in the mornings then go to the next afterwards. So not really all his free time.

Also, why would it be pointless to participate in investigations? Why would he be a hindrance just because he doesn’t know anything? Wasn’t he reading books? gaining knowledge steadily? it’s been months already, you would think Makoto has gotten some ideas or magic that could be useful on the investigation at this point. If still nothing then he would have at the very least not be a hindrance because of all thosr acvumulated knowledge from reading diverse topics and magics. He won’t slow them down. And depending on his companions at that time, he could ask them explanations during breaks. I’m pretty sure his underlings would be glad being relied on.

It’s just another form of learning. He is steadily gaining knowledge of that world, all that is left is to exprrience it in the field.

Hey. I never said he quits loitering in the library. What I’m saying was, he should manage his free time more efficiently. Has he never heard of time management? Instead of repeating the same routine each and every day, he should add more to his agenda.

        ex.
MWF= Reading, Kuzunoha and training in Asora.
        TTH= investigation of anti-kidnap
        Sat= Sealing Ring
        Sun= restday

instead of just doing reading, store, practice everyday of the week like an idiot. He needs to take part in field work, test his(according to you) acquired magics. It’s not like they are raiding a fort or blowing up a town or fighting muscle-headed darumas. What he asked Tomoe and co. are a way to intercept the Goddess’ way of forcefuly abducting him like last time. A ring that can negate the Goddess’ blessing and thought transmission. There are probably other stuff as well, i forgot already, because he’s just pushing it to other people. He says it a “priority” yet he acts nonchalant.

Even if the investigation is not doing so well, who knows maybe he could notice things that others could not at the site. He’s been reading afterall. Unless he’s secretly reading porn.

So really, it’s not unreasonable. Why would he be clueless if he already read that world’s history? did he not understand it? I doubt it. He could inquire Eva, Shiki and Tomoe.

I really can’t comprehend. Here we are saying he reads a wide variety of books and lived in that world for months yet somehow, still somehow, Makoto is clueless about history, common sense, general knowledge, normal standard, sense of humor and whatnot.

        How. What.

Doesn’t that mean all his reading is pointless because he couldn’t understand it and is only doing it so that Tomoe can replicate the books so that Tomoe and the rest can read them or explain it to him? Tomoe is one of those with tons of workload and somehow still makes time to be Makoto’s photocopier. Even Shiki is participating in Tomoe’s assignment.

He came from modern Japan, and i’m pretty sure most, if not all, methods of studying includes hands-on aside from general study or classes when teaching students from even when I was born.

Lastly, I never wanted Makoto to DO EVERYTHING. Caps to emphasize it. Fuck it if he turns into that retard mfing-liar Satou who spout lies left and right as normal as breathing.

But always staying in ones safe-zone is never good. Hell, he got thrown in that world with literally no knowledge of his surrounding but look at where he is now. He didn’t know magic, look at what he can do now. He didn’t have anybody beside him, yet he decided to help a helpless Orc. He fought a dragon for christs sake.

Saying all that, I realize I should put part of the blame to Shen…

Now, Makoto is just a lazy arse prick. I doubt he even helped subjugating the underground org. from Eva’s request.

Unlike some, I don’t read ahead so maybe you are right. He will slam it in my face, the magics he’s been practicing. But until that time, I will see him as the useless that he is. I like Makoto. Just not in this lazy Arc.

        @Owl
well it’s not like us complaining is hurting anyone, nor do we intend to spark flames. It’s actually a good time-killer to be reading different views and opinions each chapter. Especially when you are stuck in heavy traffic. If they can’t tolerate it anymore, one just need to stop reading comments or just stick with the “First” war. For me, I just drop by when I have nothing to do.

  25. Rona was not lying about Shiki’s past so why did Makoto say she wasn’t telling the truth about Shiki?

As a Lich before meeting Makoto, Shiki did perform inhumane experiments and made both deadly superweapons and supermonsters like that Insect fused with a wind spirit that managed to rip a piece of Mio’s kimono sleeve which shows you just how deadly that insect monster was since it managed to damage Mio’s kimono.

Imagine what would happen to normal armor in comparison if a normal knight met that insect monster that Shiki created in the past?

So Rona warning Makoto about Shiki should at least show how sincere she was.

As for the Forest Oni, well they don’t exactly have a stellar reputation. Remember that the Oni planned to have Makoto get affected by that Tree Forest Curse which turns enemies into Cursed Trees so Rona warned Makoto probably because there is a rumor about the Onis and their Cursed Trees.

This really shows how biased Makoto is. He claims to be open to everyone yet he rejects those with opposing views even when those opposing views have solid evidence behind them. What Makoto really wants is just Yes Men around him, it seems.

    1. Makoto didn’t say she was lying. He even said she was saying the truth, but that information is outdated.
What he was pointing out was how convincing it sounded. She tried to put the demon race in a better spot by offering them their help and that if he didn’t actually know about their past already he might have been convinced and doubted their own friends. It wasn’t the words what he was talking about, but the atmosphere she gave out.

    2. In both cases Rona was casting doubt on individuals she either can’t control or wanted to limit outside influence on. Shiki told Makoto already of their prior associations, so he had half the story before she opened her mouth. Casting aspersions on him after months of evidence of his change of mindset makes Rona look like the ignorant one. For the oni, when she says they are unreliable, it’s true for her. Don’t forget that she was actively trying to court their support when Makoto stumbled into contact with them. Now she has lost her agent (the one Shiki killed before the pact), but here he is with two of them in tow, what is she supposed to think? Odds are that if Rona had been aware that he had contact with Orcs, she would have bad mouthed them too. Don’t forget that the demons had that 5 man team at the Gate of Shen that Makoto destroyed.

Yes, he’s biased. Seeing as how hyumans have treated him from piteously (from being ugly) to just straight up disrespect (gold digger marriage offers), but non-hyumans have shown friendliness and respect to out right reverence, and demons have either tried to kill him and his people (Lime after the fight with Root) or lied to him, how would you suggest he behave?

      1. You ever considered that if not for Tomoe’s …reform training…, the attitude of both Shiki and the Forest Onis would be what she said? They are/were evil beings, the only reason they are so mild now is because they have been cowed by Makoto and company. If not for that, they would still be trying to kill him.

  26. Thanks for the chapter! It’s getting really interesting. I just can’t seem to gauge Makoto’s strength. He has more magical capacity but I think he needs to evolve his techniques and experience.

  27. thought transmission aria? i thought they already have it…..
then how Lime was able to speak with Makoto when he escaped his prison with Eva?

    1. Rona said that this aria would get to at any time, which should mean when she is in the thought transmission jamming field as well. As a result, he might have stumbled into the information that Tomoe has been working for weeks to uncover. A way to get around the demons thought transmission blocking method.

Rona probably thought it was safe to give to Makoto, she had no way to know that he could read the aria like it was plain script, or that he had people highly knowledgable about thought transmission and was in the middle of searching for the info she just handed him.

  28. Wow, quite some discussions here!

    1- About Makoto: there is a lot going on around him. He has Asora to take care of, 2 stores to manage, and even needs to prepare classes! And above all that, of course, there is the menace of the Bug kidnapping him to some random place! Considering everything, I believe the last is definitely the highest priority. It’s the power of a goddess after all. There is no way a teenager, from a world without magic at that, can hope to counter forced summon from the ruler of a magic world! In that case, since he is so busy with other things, it’s completely fine to leave it to the most experienced ones Tomoe and Shiki. About the store, he even said he wont come to public at all, and Shiki is going to be the “face” of Kuzunoha company in Academy Town;

    1.1. And its not like Makoto is lazing around either: it has been stated the he spends a great deal of time in the library. Not only he is studing to improve his abilities, the recorded books become knowledge to everyone in Asora. Like Makoto said several chapters back, instead of waiting for the Bug to drag him again, he will go to her. The main objective of going to Academy town was to improve himself for that! Long story short, Makoto is definitely an immature person surrounded be capable ones, but he is improving for the sake of that single objective;

    2- About Rona: a fox woman indeed! Start with some real truths, add some flattering, then go for your sneaky move! Unfortunately, she didn’t see to think much this time. “If ‘Larva’ and the Forest Onis are so rebellious, why are they with Raidou in the first place?” How come she didn’t make that very simple and basic question? Her skills are real, but she applied them quite wrongly here;

2- Still about that… if she was in charge of the Orc kidnapping, how come Makoto didn’t ask anything about that? Maybe the girls weren’t killed, but sold as slaves or something? It was really worth betting on this possibility!

3- Now for a lighter topic: the Rembrandt sisters are quite the funny ones! After turning a new page, they even show their atraction toward Makoto? They “endured” the other girls confessing to him, and showed no mercy when Makoto said to be annoyed! And what they said… “if you want to marry Makoto-sama, you must get along with us”? They are basically putting themselves as Makoto’s brides already! XDDDD I wonder what will be his reaction to this new rumor?

    1. It’s not clear if she was involved in the orc incident, but even if she was, how would Makoto have brought it up? She doesnt know he has any interaction with the orcs, just the forest oni and some dwarves. There isnt any way he could ask about a, up till now, unmentioned race without giving her more inforation about himself for her to work with.

Rest of your post is spot on, and better then these people that seem to assume Makoto can do everything himself and doesn’t because he is lazy.

      1. Thx.

I thought about that as well. However, Makoto is in charge of Asora (at least, he is the oficial leader). If there was a chance the girls would be alive, he should have asked for them, even at the expense of exposing himself.

  29. I’ve been reading this for the lasts days and it’s awesome ! Thanks to the author and the TL. I’m waiting for the next chapters.

There are times when I am a bit loss and I have the impression that some explanations are missing, am I the only one ?
Anyway keep up with the good work !

  30. after all the arguments all you could say is that makoto is partially stupid/retarded both can be used to describe him and he has a severe inability to take a fu***ing hint for someone who came from the modern world makoto’s iq lvl is probably in the negatives ,and all these excuses about his subconscious denial does not explain this absurd amount of uselessness and stupidity.

  31. I love how she doesn’t think about information gathering properly. Its relatively easy to gather hidden information. It hard to make your opponent think that information is still hidden, but that is the most important part. If the enemy knows the information is already known they can change plans of attack or save their spies. In WWII Winston Churchill chose to not warn of a missile attack that killed quite a few civilians so that the Germans believed their codes where still secure and that allowed the British to hit targets the Germans desperately needed to protect because the Germans would say what is moving where and the British knew.
